Walkin' through the past

What we have done for ourselves alone dies with us; what we have done for others and the world remains immortal." -Albert Pike

In the past, someone very dear to me walked by my side. Sadly, the day came when we had to part ways, but she gave me a gift before we parted. She put me in the care of someone kind and caring, and gave me a smile, telling me it was time to continue my journey without her. To this day, I miss that person, but I always cherish her final gift.

Thank you so much, Callie!

Welcome to our World

Let's begin you and me If I knock the door that connects us, what kind of future will be waiting for us? The fact that adults look for it in that way, is a perfect style Some day like cog wheels, in order to arrange everything to be like that... -Kana Nashino

The large doors in front of you contain a rather obvious warning: 'No Entrance! Authorized Personnel Only!', written in rather loud letters on a large sign. As you read the warning over for what must have been the umpteenth-million time a though crossed your mind 'Why in the world did they ask me here exactly?' You are about to move away when the doors open, and a small person runs out, grabbing your hand in a strangle hold, and shaking it violently.

Welcome, welcome!!! We've been waiting for you! Please, please follow me! We have a great many things to show you!" You are rather taken aback by the little lab technician's enthusiasm, but you allow yourself to be lead through the large doors.

The clank of the doors shutting causes you to jump slightly, but you soon forget it as you look about in awe at the large laboratory. The technology is astounding for this era, and computers line the walls, feeding information through miles of wires into a multitude of machines. You are so caught up in the sights and sounds that you trip slightly when led into an elevator.

Woops! Careful there," the lab tech replied, catching you from falling. "We wouldn't want you to get hurt before you see the main event!" As the doors slide shut you look at the little lab tech with an odd curiosity. 'Main event?' you think to yourself. 'I wish they would just tell me what I'm here for.

The elevator suddenly stops with a violent motion and the doors creak open. "Bit of a bumpy ride," the tech chimes as you're led from the elevator to another large set of doors. The tech quickly goes through all the censors and scanners, revealing that the two of your aren't sneaky secret stealers. The doors slide open, a faint green light spilling from the room in front of you. You begin to have a slight feeling of dread, but are pushed into the sanctum opened in front of you.

What you see shocks you to the core. In the middle of the room a large tank sits, wires and tubes running from it in all directions, computer monitors sending out readings every few seconds, and suspended in the greenish liquid inside the tank, is a fire krawk

Wha...wh..." You can't find the words to speak, but the tech answers the question you are burning to ask.

Lovely, isn't he? This is the latest in our line of work to re-create the Kishin (The Magic Man Project in case you were wondering), and may I say, he is our best work yet! We expect this one to survive the experiments perfectly!" You are taken aback by the tech's happiness at such a seemingly appalling thing.

As the tech continues to babble about the logistics and purpose of the experiment, you approach the tank, and look at the poor creature inside. On the front of the tank, a label has been affixed to the glass which read as follows: 'Experiment 64, Alma Karma'. After reading the little label you look back up to the krawk, and the misleading, serene look on its face. With sadness you extend your hand, placing it on the glass in a gesture of pity and comfort... and the krawk opens its eyes....

Distant Shadows

All of us failed to match our dreams of perfection, so I rate us on the basis of our splendid failure to do the impossible" -William Faulkner

It was in the lab, during his escape, that Tengoku felt something snap. It had been during a moment of fear, a moment of weakness that it happened. The guards had been closing in quickly, their weapons barred and ready to attack, when the world went calm.

You can't do it alone. You're too scared, too weak. These guards will tear you apart. Do you really wish to die, Tengoku?" a small voice asked from within his skull. Tengoku had resigned himself to madness long ago, so he did not think twice about the voice as he sullenly watched the guards, listened to their words, words that would never reach him.

And who might you be?" he asked tentatively of the voice. There was silence; he thought he could see a head turn to the side in curious confusion.

Who am I?" the voice asked, the confusion evident in it as well. "That's an odd question to ask oneself_ " it finally concluded. Tengoku felt an eyebrow raise in apprehension.

Myself?" he asked, now struggling to maintain the dimensional barrier that separated him from the guards. "I know who I am, and you are not me," he continued. "You feel foreign.

If the voice had a presence, it wilted. "How can you say that?" it asked, hurt. "You're me and I'm you.

No, I'm me and you're you. It doesn't matter who we are, though. It's over. I don't have the will anymore," Tengoku concluded bitterly. The voice laughed.

You are wrong, Tengoku, 'bout so many things. We're the same, and since we are the same doesn't it make sense the stronger entity should protect the weaker one? If you're not going to fight anymore, I will," it said cheerfully.

As the voice spoke its confusing logic, Tengoku only became more muddled. This voice in his head was rather troublesome, and now it intended to try to save them? He had not realized that he had such a preposterous mind. "You just need to let go," it was saying. Let go? Had he not done that already.....

------------------------------

That was the last thing that he entity Tengoku ever thought. His mind is still locked within the body that Alma now controls, but neither of them knows the others. Alma does not know it's not his body he's in. He doesn't know he's merely a spirit animating a highjacked body. Tengoku doesn't know where he is. He doesn't remember the voice in his head. He is lost, his body is gone, and yet he never left it. He's there, but he's not.

Tengoku and Alma now inhabit a world a contradiction, where one can be, yet not be, where one can be two, but two can't be one, and where I and we are synonymous.
