Altador Plot Guide

Please read and follow these instructions very carefully!!!

You are completely up to date if you have joined the Astronomy Club, received your telescope,
gained access to the stars via the observatory, located all twelve constellations, and received your plot prizes.

The links in this image will appear as you move through the plot steps.

Make sure to follow the steps exactly as laid out in this guide, as omitting any will yield nil results.

These images take up a lot of bandwidth. If you are using this page as a reference, please try to just visit it once while you go through the process... instead of coming back multiple times, leave this window open and do the work in another window. Thank you!

Many Thanks To loretta62

The Altador Plot has started!

Altador Portal
(http://www.neopets.com/faerieland/faeriecity.phtml)

Altador
(http://www.neopets.com/altador/index.phtml)

In Altador (neopets.com/altador/index.phtml), you can now click on the center building to enter the Hall of Heroes (neopets.com/altador/hallofheroes.phtml), where there is a circle of clickable statues. Each one when clicked will open a new page to show you the front of the statue and give you the name; the one right in front with it's back to you is the Darkest Faerie. At the back right side of the hall is the Yurble janitor (http://neopets.com/altador/hallofheroes.phtml?janitor=1), foreman from the Lost Desert Plot.

Enter the Hall of Heroes
(http://www.neopets.com/altador/hallofheroes.phtml)

Click on the Yurble janitor.

Click his button.

Go to the Altadorian Archives
(http://neopets.com/altador/archives.phtml)
and click on the room on the right side with Finneus the Lenny Archivist.

Click on the book that's holding up the table.

Go to the quarry to get a rock to replace the book.
The quarry is clickable on a little tree near the bottom of the picture left of center in Altator.

You will find the rock you need by moving your cursor around near the top of the quarry a little to the right of the center of the picture.

Some people are having trouble locating the rock; if you can't find the link try refreshing the page. You can also highlight the banner and hit tab 3 times, then hit enter and it works the same as clicking the link.

Return to Finneus and click on the book...

... which will be replaced by the rock, moving the book over to a pedastel on the right.

Click on the book.

Make sure to read the Prologue by clicking on the upper corners of the pages.

Now go back to the Hall of Heroes
(http://www.neopets.com/altador/hallofheroes.phtml)
and click on the Yurble. He will tell you that you need some grease.

Return to the Hall of Heroes, and click on any Statue.
A new window will open up showing the front-side of the Statue; click the top edge.

You will see a variation of this:

Return to the Hall and click on another Statue until you find the can of oil.

I found mine behind King Altador.

Take the oil; go back and push the Yurble's button
(http://neopets.com/altador/hallofheroes.phtml?janitor=1)

Push the button.

The ceiling opens up and light shines through. Back in the Hall of Heroes, everything will be bright now.

Return to the Hall of Heroes,
(http://www.neopets.com/altador/hallofheroes.phtml)
and click on the stairs.

This will bring you to the Observatory.

Having completed all these steps in the given order you should now be able to access the Observatory and read the Prologue to the Book.

March 24th, 2006 Update

Return to the Archives
(http://www.neopets.com/altador/archives.phtml)
and click on the center image on the bulletin board.

This brings you into the Astronomy Club.

Join the Astronomy Club to get your telescope.

Return to the Observatory
(http://www.neopets.com/altador/hallofheroes.phtml?stairs=1)
and click on the telescope.

It takes a few seconds to set up...
but you can do nothing with it until you locate the tomb and constellation of the The Darkest Faerie,
also known as The Sleeper, following the update below.

The next few images simply show you how to navigate the heavens. However, do not skip re-visiting the Lenny Archivist and the Yurble again!

Move your mouse over the red button; you get a drop-down scroll.

If you move your cursor, which turns into a "pen," to select a star, you can connect six stars together this way; clicking the "Submit" button will cause a popup to appear that says: 'Double checking astronomical data' ...but no known constellations have as yet been matched or found by submitting. If you make a selection or selections that are wrong, use the "Delete Star" or "Delete All" option, and then select "Connect Star" to commence connecting stars again.

Also, clicking your "pen" on the outer gold ring or on the red cross-hairs will change your view of the constellations, as will clicking anywhere within your sky view.

If you return to Finneus
(http://www.neopets.com/altador/archives.phtml?archivist=1)
he encourages you to map the heavens.

Returning to the Janitor after joining the Astronomy Club will give you this image:

The Sleeper

March 28th, 2006 Update

If you are just beginning the plot, make sure to complete ALL the previous steps before starting here.
Return to Altador, and click on the building in the lower left corner.
This is the Restive Tomb (http://www.neopets.com/altador/tomb.phtml)

On the doors you'll notice two lines connected with three dots each. This is the constellation of the Sleeper, The Darkest Faerie. Try clicking on one of the dots and see what message you get.

Whatever pattern you see is the constellation you have to find in the observatory with your telescope. Everyone's constellation looks the same, but the stellar co-ordinates vary from person to person according to your unique Star Data.

Now return to Finneus the Lenny Archivist.

Retrieve your unique Star Data (neopets.com/altador/astro.phtml?get_star_data=1)

Go to:
boomspeed.com/zaniam/theSky.html
or
pluse.hosting.devilcoderz.com/const/findconst.php

The first site provides you with a sky map based on your unique star data plus a movable template to help you find your constellation; the second gives you your co-ordinates numerically. Both have an on-site link to retrieve your unique star data; the first has been hard to access at times, so if you are having trouble getting on, I would suggest you simply try the second one.

If using boomspeed, once you paste your unique star data into the white box, select the constellation name you are looking for as well as "Show Guide" to help you locate the co-ordinates of the constellation

You'll get a picture of the stars just like you would see from the observatory except it's a larger piece of sky than you can see at any given time with your telescope. The template is mobile; simply move it over the map with your cursor until you find the fitting star pattern.

Choosing to show your data at 50% allows you to see the whole sky.

Find Your Constellations
boomspeed.com/zaniam/theSky.html or
pluse.hosting.devilcoderz.com/const/findconst.php
http://hacks.atrus.org/neopets/findConstellations.fcgi
or http://mattrepublic.com/starmap/?
NOTE: IE works best for the star mapping sites.

Return to the Observatory
(neopets.com/altador/hallofheroes.phtml?stairs=1)
to set up your telescope. If you already had it set up before going to the Restive Tomb, refresh the page. Using the pen, connect the stars to match that constellation. Clicking on the red cross-hairs will allow you to adjust your sky-view more manageably.

Submit your choices when you think they are right.

If they are wrong, use the drop-down scroll to delete all,
then select "connect stars.

When they are right, you will get this message:

When you find the right constellation, the Dark Faerie's eyes are drawn over it in the sky.

Return to the Hall of Heroes and look at the ceiling over the Darkest Faerie.
(neopets.com/altador/hallofheroes.phtml?view_statue_id=6)
The six gems that compose the constellation have turned from blue to clear, sparkly diamonds.

The Archivist will now have a very long message for you.

Looking at the book, pages 4-7 have filled in with a story about the Darkest Faerie.

Also, the janitor has a new message for you, but he's just yelling at you to turn off the lights.

Click on the flyer for the Astronomy Club
(http://www.neopets.com/altador/archives.phtml?board=6)
and the members cheer you for finding the constellation.

The Dreamer

March 30th, 2006 Update

Return to Altador and click on the clouds in the upper right corner.

You will be in the clouds looking down at Altador.
Move your cursor around and it will change to a hand
over a gap in the clouds near the center of the picture.

Click and you'll see the next constellation, The Dreamer.

Visit Finneus in the archives
(neopets.com/altador/archives.phtml?archivist=1)
and he has another message for you.

If you want to use a site that finds your "cords" (co-ordinates)
go to boomspeed (boomspeed.com/zaniam/theSky.html) or
(pluse.hosting.devilcoderz.com/const/findconst.php)
There is a link on both sites for retrieving your star data directly!

Find Your Constellations
boomspeed.com/zaniam/theSky.html or
pluse.hosting.devilcoderz.com/const/findconst.php
http://hacks.atrus.org/neopets/findConstellations.fcgi
or http://mattrepublic.com/starmap/?
NOTE: IE works best for the star mapping sites.

If you wish to find your constellations without this help,
retrieve your Star Data here:
neopets.com/altador/astro.phtml?get_star_data=1

If you can find the Dreamer on your boomspeed map, you can easily find it in the observatory. Go there, load your telescope and connect the stars like last time. Some people are experiencing technical difficulties at boomspeed if using any browser besides IE; you may also need to re-start your computer to gain access to boomspeed's second template, although that may have simply been a problem we experienced while they were updating the site.

When you have located and connected the first five stars, use the red button to add the last star.
Selecting the lone star first may give an incorrect answer. Submit.

Your data will be double checked as before; and the constellation will be over-laid with an image of The Dreamer.

Return to the Hall of Heroes, and click on the Dreamer's Statue
(http://www.neopets.com/altador/hallofheroes.phtml?view_statue_id=9)
to see her ceiling gems.

Then re-visit the Yurble janitor.

As before, you will return to Finneus

Read the new pages in the book.

Go to the Astronomy Club

Yay!!! I got my Astronomy Club Membership Badge! Make sure to put your badge safely away.

The fourth constellation is not yet available; when it is my guide will be updated immediately.

While there is a lot of talk of onions on the Altador chat board, Onions have nothing to do with this plot... it is a glitch on pet pages and boards that has been happening since at least February 22nd (which was when you could not post "Monkey" on any of the boards due to it being Mynci Day), but is only now becoming more widely known. If you saw my Pack Rat Avatar Guide on this same page before I put an asterisk before each "onion_" you would know why!

The Gladiator

April 11th, 2006 Update

Go to the Colosseum above the HOH.
http://www.neopets.com/altador/colosseum.phtml

Please read these steps carefully before attempting them.

Click on each one of the lower two rows of windows...

Until a Grarrl asks you to join the Punch Club.

Go with him to Punch Club.

When you get there, you will see three punch bowls and a goblet on the table.
Click on the punch bowls in a specific order shown below, and the goblet will become clickable.

You must drink the correct combination of three to unlock the link for your goblet. Here are all 27 combinations:

1,1,1 ~ 1,1,2 ~ 1,1,3 ~ 1,2,1 ~ 1,2,2 ~ 1,2,3 ~ 1,3,1 ~ 1,3,2 ~ 1,3,3
2,1,1 ~ 2,1,2 ~ 2,1,3 ~ 2,2,1 ~ 2,2,2 ~ 2,2,3 ~ 2,3,1 ~ 2,3,2 ~ 2,3,3
3,1,1 ~ 3,1,2 ~ 3,1,3 ~ 3,2,1 ~ 3,2,2 ~ 3,2,3 ~ 3,3,1 ~ 3,3,2 ~ 3,3,3

Once every hour the Graarl moves to a different window in the Colloseum... if you get booted from the Punch Club before you find the right combo, just find the Graarl again and start over.

The Collector

April 17th, 2006 Update

Go to Altador, and go into either the Illustrious Armoury, Exquisite Ambrosia, or Magical Marvels Shop.

Check the inflation rate, and multiply it by one hundred. For example, "Neopian Inflation is currently at 4.69%"=469 Neopoints... go to the Neopian Bank and deposit or withdraw until you have that exact amount, and return to the shop and refresh the page. If the Altadorian Scales (Magical Marvels), Altadorian Chocolate Coin (Exquisite Ambrosia), or the Altadorian Coin Purse (Illustrious Armoury) appears in the shop you refreshed, click on the item. If one of those items does not appear after refreshing, go to one of the other two shops and repeat the interest rate/banking process until you find one of the three items listed with your current balance matching the Neopian inflation rate times 100. Please note: there may be other items in the shop at the same time, so look carefully! The item you are seeking will likely be the last one in the shop in that case.

Click on item.

You now have your new constellation to search for: Gordos, The Collector.

NOTE: the shop does not take your neopoints, and you do not get to keep the item.

Go to Lenny's office, and click on the vase.

Then click the Meepit on the table.

Return to the Red Lenny...

Now return to the Archives and click on the door to the left.

...and keep going through doors in nearly identical rooms until the smaller door on the upper right becomes clickable.
I simply clicked the top door continuously while checking to see if the other door became a link and it did after a short time.
Three or four clicks on either of the same door should do it.

You are looking for a closet full of Meepit Plushies.

How interesting... a box of Meepit plushies. This must be where the Archivist keeps getting his replacements!

The Gatherer

April 26th, 2006 Update

Go to the Farm, the Docks, the Quarry, or the Restive Tomb (it's different for everyone)...

...until you see a Petpet hiding. Click it.

Go to the Archivist, and click the Petpet again.

The archivist says, "Oh my! What a poor little Vaeolus!
I wonder what happened to his owner. He seems very ill!

Go to the Alchemy Club (last flyer)...

Hmm, so you're looking for medicine, eh?
I've got a potion that could help you out... for a price!

The Quiggle cackles at you and demands
30,000 neopoints for the medicine! What a jerk!

Click the potion.

*WHACK!*
The Archivist storms over and swats the Quiggle on the hand. Hey! No selling of items is allowed in the Archives! Why are you such a troublemaker, anyway?" He mutters angrily and retreats to his office.

Return to the Archivist, click on the Petpet, and you now
have the option of giving the Petpet the medicine (do nothing).

Give medicine
Wait
Check in on the Vaeolus
(Do nothing.)

Return to the Restive Tomb for bandages... click on the horizontal door brace.

Oh no! An angry, mummified Gelatinous Non-Cube is roaming around the tomb!

Refresh until bandages appear.
Try 29 and 59 seconds after the minute.
Tabbing will also help you find the link.

Look closely for the bottom right hand side to change slightly, then click it.

Mummy Bandages

Return to Finneus, click on the Petpet, and you now have the option of giving the Petpet bandages.

Bandage
Give medicine
Wait
Check in on the Vaeolus
(Do nothing.)

Now go to the Punch club by finding the Grarrl in the Colosseum again.

Click the blueberry pie on the back table.

Return to Lenny, and click on the Petpet. The Petpet's posture tells you what to do:

Curled Up means Wait
Paw Over Mouth means Give Medicine
Paw Up means Bandage
Tounge Out means Feed

Vaeolus's needs will change once every minute.
It is possible that the same need will appear twice in a row.

ONLY CLICK ONE HEALING ACTION PER MINUTE!
When a minute passes, click 'Check In' to refresh the page
or simply press F5 to see what the next healing action should be.
Personally I found F5 much more efficient.

You need to heal Vaeolus by doing a variation of the following:

First minute - Enter the Petpet page; the image shows a paw up pose. Click 'Bandage' once.
Second minute - Refresh page. The image changes to a hungry pose. Click 'Feed' once.
Third minute - Refresh page. The image changes to a sleeping pose. Click 'Wait' once.
Fourth minute - Refresh page. The image changes to a hungry pose. Click 'Feed' once.
Fifth minute - Refresh page. The image changes to a sleeping pose. Click 'Wait' once.
Check in on the Vaeolus' refreshes the page, but F5 works better.

This should continue for 10 or 11 minutes.
If you don't get this part after eleven minutes, return to see Lenny and click on Vaeolus again to start over.

DO NOT LEAVE THE PAGE DURING THE HEALING PROCESS!

The Vaeolus seems to be feeling better!

A Skeith knocks on the door just then. "Why, hello there!" he says. "I'm from the Petpet Protection League, and I heard you were nursing this poor little creature back to health. Very helpful of you! I'd like to present you with this certificate on behalf of the PPL!

Click on the drawing on the paper he is holding

Your new constellation!

Return to Lenny.

The archivist says, "Ah, the Vaeolus seems to be feeling much better now. He can stay here until he's ready to leave, of course. I'm sure he'd like to get back to his owner!

And another clue!" he says. "It seems we draw ever closer to solving this mystery. Quickly, to the observatory!

The archivist clears his throat. "Oh, by the way, if you want to see all your previous clues collected into one place, I've made up a list for you here.

The Protector

May 12th, 2006 Update

Return to the rock quarry, and click on the back of the path (you can tab for it).

Find a small spot on the bottom right of the wall above the middle of the lighter horizontal grassy green spot. You can see the actual link (!); click it.

This page opens:

An enormous, spectral Minitheus stands watchful in this secret room, hidden deep within the city wall.

Then, click the medallion.

You are not worthy enough to pass!

The Guardian, though made entirely of ethereal mist, projects a field that forces you back! You cannot approach the pedestal.

The creature won't let you go further, so press continue and go to the Old Follies Farm.

Farmer Follies waves as you approach. "Hello there! Are you from the Altadorian Water Department? The irrigation ditches near my farm have been filling up awfully quickly! If the water flow doesn't slow down, I'm going to lose my crops! FARMING DOES NOT WORK THIS WAY!

After you talk to the farmer, go to the main altador map and click the upper left-hand round blue water receptacle along the top of the wall surrounding Altador.

Go inside and click on the door under the Shoyru.

The plant engineers rush over to you as you enter. "You've got to help us!" the Zafara says. "The plant's gone berserk, it's routing water every which way. We don't know how to fix it -- the plant was designed by a mad wizard, and he didn't write any documentation! We're doomed!

The Shoyru shakes his head sadly. "I always knew having a mad wizard design our water distribution plant was a bad idea.

Here's a link to the water plant:
http://www.neopets.com/altador/plant.phtml

Please be advised that this whole section pertaining to the water plant is very random and different for everyone...
just keep clicking around and entering the other rooms and you will eventually get it.

Once inside the water plant (enter through the doorway below the Shoyru),
click the levers that move up and down; fix the wheels
if they are not already in the position.

If you cannot get it some other random way, start by flooding Altador!
To flood Altador, put each lever in the upward position and set each valve in the position.

Altador Water Distribution Plant

OH NO! You opened too many pumps and valves, and Altador has been completely flooded!

...or it would have been, if the plant hadn't been built with automatic safety features that prevent exactly this scenario from occurring. The plant has been reset to the way it was when you started messing with it. Whew!

After flooding Altador start in the room on the far left; click each valve once only, then move into the middle room and click each valve or lever once only, then go into the room on the far right and click each valve or lever once only. Repeat this process starting over again in the room on the far left a few times and you should get it right away.

This will happen when you are successful:

The engineers cheer. "You did it! The water's been rerouted properly, and there'll be no flood.

Return to the plant office.

One of the engineers stops you before you can do anything. "Look, now that the plant's working properly, please don't change anything, okay?

Once it's fixed, return to the Old Follies Farm.

Farmer Follies cheers as you approach. "Thank you so much for saving my crops! We surely would have drowned in a flood if it hadn't been for your quick thinking!

Click the lever inside the windmill.

Return to the Quarry, and enter the back link again along the path by the tree.

Click the medallion again, and the creature will let you pass.
Click any of the six gems on the medallion to get the constellation.

The spectral Minitheus steps aside, letting you pass. "You have proven yourself worthy by protecting Altador," he intones.

Click any one of the six points of light on the medallion.

You pick up the necklace, and notice that its shape forms a strange pattern...

Return to see Finneus the Lenny Archivist.

The archivist frowns as you enter. "A necklace on a pedestal? Guarded by a spectral beast of some kind? Surely these are not the tools of someone with nothing to hide. Go, find the next constellation.

The archivist clears his throat. "Oh, by the way, if you want to see all your previous clues collected into one place, I've made up a list for you here.

Set up your telescope.

Return to the Hall of Heroes and click on Jerdana's Statue; then click the medallion around her neck.

Return to see the Archivist.

The archivist says, "And, at last, we come to Jerdana. The 'Protector.' Indeed!" he scoffs.

He peers out into the lobby, and then softly closes the door. "I don't know whether you've noticed this, but the lights above the statues in the Hall of Heroes are no longer lit. None of them, not even Jerdana's. From what I gather, this happened about the time that you took that necklace from its pedestal." He shakes his head. "I'm guessing that the necklace was the power source for the magic that have been providing you with the clues to this puzzle. And, apparently, magically powered the gems in the ceiling of the Hall of Heroes. That accounts for half the mysterious magic, at any rate. The other half, that which has stolen our history, remains as strong as ever.

He pauses for a moment, listening, and then continues. "I trust that you have kept this to yourself. We must uncover this riddle before Jerdana learns of our efforts. It is our only chance to reverse the effects of the spell, and return our stolen history to us.

He peeks out the door. "I should do research in the main archives. I left them unlocked once before, by accident, but this time I'll leave them open for you if you want to wander around.

The archivist clears his throat. "Oh, by the way, if you want to see all your previous clues collected into one place, I've made up a list for you here.

Read the new pages in the Book of Ages.

Revisit the Yurble janitor.

The janitor shouts, "HEY!! Why are the lights off?! I was having fun looking at them, all shiny and stuff... RAAARGHH!! IT REALLY MAKES ME ANGRY WHEN THE LIGHTS GO OFF!!"

Click all the other Statue's breastplates.

Visit the Astronomy Club.

The Astronomy Club members don't greet you at all as you enter the room, as they're hiding behind the door, waiting for the club president to return. And just as he does, they jump him, and a struggle ensues!

The Wocky, Korbat, and Buzz manage to hold the Blumaroo. He seems extremely upset. "Unhand me, you vermin!" he shouts. "You'll never get away with this! This is my club! Mine!

The Buzz notices something, and yells. "Look! There's something sticking out of his toga!" Indeed, there seems to be a little green flap poking out the back of his toga...

Pull on the flap.

You pull on the little green tab, to reveal...

GASP!!

The Blumaroo's face is a MASK! You pull it off to reveal that dastardly Quiggle!

The Astronomy Club members gasp in shock. "Goodness! It's Old Man Withers, from the Herbalism, Mining, Underwater Basket Weaving, Engineering, Alchemy, and Dance Clubs! He must have been trying to subvert the only other club in Altador that actually had any members!

The Quiggle seethes at you. "And I would have gotten away with it, too, if it weren't for you darn kids!

The Wocky harrumphs. "Well, your evil plan, whatever it is, has been foiled. Off with you! I don't ever want to see you in here again!" She shoves the Quiggle out the door and slams it behind him. "Good riddance!

The Wocky turns back to you and nods. "Thanks for your help in getting rid of him. I can't believe what a sourpuss he turned out to be. Well, the club charter states that the club's Vice President -- that's me -- becomes President in case the President can no longer fulfill his duties. Sorry if you thought that job would go to you, but that's not how it works." She shrugs.

The Hunter

June 1st, 2006 Update

Go to the observatory, then return to the Hall of Heroes.

Click on one of the three dots on the floor near the Protector.

Now visit the Lenny Archivist.

The archivist says, "Ah, the last constellation! Go and find it, I suppose. We may as well get this over with.

The archivist clears his throat. "Oh, by the way, if you want to see all your previous clues collected into one place, I've made up a list for you here."

Visit the Yurble.

The janitor says, "I saw you almost fall out of the observatory! That reminds me, I've been thinking about closing the ceiling again. Our heating costs have gone way up, now that we have all this extra air to keep warm. We keep our boilers in the basement, y'see. I keep having to go down there and adjust the settings. It's a real pain and MAKES ME ANGRY!" He coughs. "Sorry. Been taking some medication to keep me calm. Anyway, if you want to go down to the basement and take a look, just let me know.

Visit the basement.

Hall of Heroes

The basement of the Hall of Heroes is full of mysterious machinery.

Go to the Flat Rock Quarry.

These are the new links in the quarry: the first one is just below center on the right side,
slightly outlined in white (I tabbed it); the second one is outlined in red,
and the red arrow points to one of the rocks you take.
Refresh the page when you first go to the quarry to make the links active...

One of the quarry workers blocks you as you try to step into the quarry. "Hey, you can't come in here! This quarry's for official business only!"

The other quarry worker nudges him. "I think they want one of the rocks," he says. "Couldn't hurt, could it? Just a rock, not like we don't have a million of 'em here anyway."

The first quarry worker grumps. "Fine, you can have a rock. But it'll cost ya -- 50 neopoints!"

Buy a rock for 50 Neopoints.

The quarry worker takes the 50 neopoints and hands you the rock. "Well, there you go. Don't know what you'd want a perfectly flat three-inch rock for, but..." He shrugs, which is a neat trick, considering JubJubs have no shoulders.

Return to the basement via the Yurble in the HOH.

Click one of the 10 main gear centers.
Your rock will appear jammed in the gear.

Return to the Yurble and push his button.

Hall of Heroes

The ceiling starts grinding closed...

Open the ceiling again and return to the Janitor.

Now visit Lenny.

The archivist says, "Wait, I'm sorry, did you say there were only three stars you found in the clue? Well no wonder you can't find that constellation... three stars isn't enough for a constellation!" he scoffs. "You'll have to go find the other half of the constellation, I suppose. Hm, it probably isn't in the same place as the first half. That would be too easy.

The archivist clears his throat. "Oh, by the way, if you want to see all your previous clues collected into one place, I've made up a list for you here."

Return to the Rock Quarry and find the second rock link near the green Jubjub.
Refresh the page when you first go to the quarry to make the links active...
Bring the rock from the basement with you by freeing it from the gear.

The quarry workers turn around at the noise of a rock being thrown into the quarry. "Hey, what was that?" one of them says, peering around curiously.

Get your next rock... (the red square in pic above showing new links)
you can see the extra rock in these two screenies
just above and to the right of the green Jub's hard hat.

The quarry workers turn back around. "Oh well, I guess it was nothing. Say, it sure does seem like there's fewer rocks in here than there used to be."

Return to the Yurble. Play around with the rocks and gears, and check the ceiling by pushing his button.

The janitor shouts, "Aarrgh! You broke the gears! Jamming them up with your stupid rocks and such. Now I have to go fix them all!"

The janitor returns a little while later. "There, I've replaced the broken gears with new ones. But I had to reconnect the gears to the ceiling panel drive train, and I'm not sure I got them all in the same order..." He shrugs. "Oh well, at least it'll still work. Stupid ceiling gears.

If the Janitor yells at you all the gears reset.

Get your next rock by repeating above Quarry process.
Refresh the page when you first go to the quarry to make the links active...

Return to the Archives, and enter the Herbalism Club.
Join the circus.

The Quiggle's eyes brighten up as you ask about the circus. "Why, yes! I used to be the greatest juggler Altador had ever known. But after that incident with the Bearog on the tightrope..." He shudders. "So I had to branch out, find something new to occupy my time. Starting all these clubs seemed like a great idea, but now..." He looks around, wistfully. "Oh, the glory days of juggling..." He glances at you out of the corner of his eye...

Click "All RIGHT already! Just teach me to juggle. Sheesh.

The Quiggle spends a few hours showing you the basic skill of juggling three similarly-sized objects. It's an arduous process, filled with hope and despair, dizzying highs and crushing lows. But eventually, you master the art of keeping three beanbags in the air, and the Quiggle pats you on the back. "I'm so glad I was able to pass on this knowledge. Finally, my legacy will continue." He stops for a second, then scowls at you. "Now GET OUT! I've got to go back to being arrogant.

Return to the Rock Quarry and click the blue Jubjub.
Refresh the page when you first go to the quarry to make the links active...

The quarry workers look at you as you approach. "Bored? Yeah, I guess we are kinda bored. We've been having the same argument for months. Can't think of anything new to talk about. I guess that's what can happen when you're surrounded by square rocks all day. They're not interesting at all.

He perks up as you explain your request. "You want to show us your juggling skills, eh? But you've only got one rock! How can you juggle with just one rock? That's crazy."

Bring your rock from the basement.

Well, it looks like you've only got two rocks there. That's hardly a challenge to juggle!

Unless you're a JubJub," says the other quarry worker.

Well, yes, obviously," says the first one. "But if you had three rocks to juggle, now that would be something.

Click "So give me another rock.

The quarry workers cheer as you demonstrate your juggling ability. "Wow, that's the most fun I've had at work since I started here!" says one. "You bet," says the other. "This is quite possibly the greatest day of my entire life." He sniffles, holding back tears.

Return to the basement and put a rock in one of the gears, then press the Janitor's button; best done in two windows. Try one rock at a time to see how far the ceiling opens to the right with each one; if the janitor yells at you the positions reset. It appears that each gear slides a side of the ceiling open by a specific but unique number of spaces. So to open 15 spaces without using the number five 3 times, the most logical is 4 5 6... so you have to find the gears that do that. Repeat until you manage to completely close the left side of the ceiling, and have the right side open.

To make sure you have three rocks put them all in once.

Click one of the dots on the floor.

Your last constellation!

Return to Lenny.

The archivist gasps in surprise. "Ah! What a tricky bit of puzzling that last clue was to find. And not powered by magic at all, but simple physical mechanics. Well, you'd best be off to find the constellation, then. We have precious little time."

The archivist clears his throat. "Oh, by the way, if you want to see all your previous clues collected into one place, I've made up a list for you here."

Set up your telescope.

Revisit the janitor.

The janitor shouts, "WHAT?! After all that, I don't even get to see the ceiling all lit up pretty? NONSENSE!! This is ridiculous! I demand reparations! I demand satisfaction! Something must be done! ARRRGHH!!" He starts running around in circles, frothing at the mouth and growling incomprehensibly.

Revisit the Astronomy Club.

The Astronomy Club members greet you warmly as you enter the room.

The Wocky approaches you. "Well, aside from the whole drama with that nasty Quiggle, you sure have found a whole lot of new constellations. I just wanted to thank you again for helping us out and being such a great club member. In fact, right now, I'm preparing a new paper for the Altadorian Journal of Astronomy, all about how new constellations can be identified in the heavens. If you don't mind, I'll put your name on it as co-author, since after all, it's your findings that the paper's based on, so you really deserve the credit."

The club members gather around you. "Three cheers for you! Hooray!"

Revisit Lenny.

The archivist says, "At long, long last, King Altador, the Hunter. You have found a constellation for each of the twelve Heroes of Altador... and all twelve of the constellation gems in the ceiling of the Hall of Heroes would be alight, except that the magical source of their lighting has been shut off.

However, the Book of Ages has revealed another chapter. I believe that the Book contains a weak magical power source, which reveals a chapter each time a constellation is found. I think I failed to sense it before because the other two enchantments, being so much more powerful, drowned it out. Alas, the magic in the Book of Ages does not seem to be connected to anything else, so it is of no use to us in unraveling this mystery.

He sits at his table, shuffles through some papers. "And now we wait. The history-hiding enchantment is very strong, and will probably take some time to wear off. We should slowly begin to regain our memories of past history as it decays.

The archivist clears his throat. "Oh, by the way, if you want to see all your previous clues collected into one place, I've made up a list for you here.

Read new pages in Book of Ages.

Click on the Darkest Faerie's flames in the book on page 53.

The archivist says, "Strange, I'd overlooked that drawing of the Dar--" He hesitates for a moment, and gathers his composure. "The Betrayer. But you think it means something, you say? But what?

He plops into his chair and rests his chin on his hand. "The fire in her hands... well, it's practically her trademark. And the picture does resemble her statue in the Hall of Heroes. Except on the statue, the flames are stone, just like the rest of it. Perhaps there's some way to bring the stone to life? There might be such a spell in the Archives somewhere, but the cataloguing system doesn't go into detail about specific spells, just the titles of books.

He shakes his head. "Of course, there are thousands of spellbooks in there... tens or hundreds of thousands, perhaps. I wouldn't know where to begin to find the proper spell. Finding the coordinates for the correct room, just searching randomly, would be... madness of some kind.

Now click on the handle to the door in the Archives main hall, and enter the Altadorian Archives Library. Search for the Spellbook.

Take the co-ordinates for your very first constellation, The Sleeper, and add up all the X (first column) and Y (second column) numbers, you will be given the room number. Add all numbers in each column, reducing them to two digit numbers; ignore negatives.

X, Y
49, 2
89, -28
129, -58
169, -58
209, -28
249, 2
Sums: X=894 (8 9 4=21)
Y=176 (1 7 6=14)
Therefore, Spellbook room: 21, 15
If your numbers are not divisible by three, round them off to the closest.

Change the URL to arcx=21arcy=15 to check rooms
Now highlight the banner that say "Altadorian Archives." Press TAB until you get the first book in the address across the bottom of your screen. Press enter; if it isn't the spellbook, press BACKSPACE and hit TAB again, then ENTER. Repeat until you have found the book.

For example, if your room is number arcx=21&arcy=15, Tab until the address says "arcx=21&arcy=15&read_book" followed by some more numbers and letters. Hit enter. If it isn't the Spell Book, hit backspace and highlight banner again, and tab to the next book.

There are 31 books in each room.

This spellbook contains 52,143 distinct spells!
Which one do you want to cast?

Once you obtain the Spell Book, enter spell number 29884 into it.
You will get a message saying "You cast spell number 29,884. Nothing happens.

Return to the Hall of Heroes and look at the statue of the Darkest Faerie.

Put the Medallion on the Statue (click breastplate).

You place the necklace around the neck of the Darkest Faerie's statue...

As soon as you do, the flames on her hands flare brightly, beams of light shoot out from cracks in the stonework, and a few seconds later, the statue explodes into a pile of rubble!

A loud ringing sound echoes throughout the room, and across all Altador. Everyone staggers back, looking very dizzy, and puts their hands to their temples. Then the ringing sound ends. A minute later, Finneus, the Archivist, comes running inside. "Oh, goodness!" he shouts as he reaches you. "I remember it now--I remember everything!"

Indeed you do," intones a deeper, more profound voice. You turn to see King Altador striding into the room, Jerdana at his side.

Finneus sees them, but he doesn't seem frightened at all. Instead, he rushes over to Jerdana, and bows before her. "My lady, I'm so, so sorry to have doubted you. I didn't remember, you see--"

Jerdana chuckles gently. "Of course," she says. "That was the intent of the spell, was it not?" Finneus cracks a smile. "Yes, I suppose it was. Um, perhaps we should explain matters to my friend over here." He glances at you.

Jerdana approaches you. "You look confused," she says. "Of course, since you knew nothing from before the spell, you have not remembered anything. So allow me to explain." King Altador puts a hand on your shoulder. "Let us adjourn to the Council Chamber," he says.

Click "Continue" and proceed to the Council Chamber.

The council chamber holds the twelve seats of the Heroes of Altador. This is where they meet to debate the issues facing the great kingdom of Altador.

Jerdana and Altador smile as you enter. "Welcome back," Jerdana says. "Would you like me to repeat the story of how Altador's history was hidden and later freed?"

Return to the Hall of Heroes; the Darkest Faerie Statue is obliterated.

Click where the Statue used to be.

This was a statue of the Darkest Faerie, also known as the Sleeper. Now it's a pile of rubble.

The janitor sighs as he takes a break from sweeping up rubble. "This is going to take forever! Who knew enormous stone statues were so heavy?"

View the gemstones above Jerdana's and Altador's Statues.

Visit Finneus the Lenny Archivist one last time.

The archivist grins broadly as you enter. "Ah, come in, come in! Good to see you again. I'm glad this whole ordeal is finally over. Our history restored, everything back to normal. Of course, it'll take some time to adjust. And I think I'm going to take a well-deserved vacation." He pauses for a few seconds. "Well! That was nice. Back to work."

The archivist clears his throat. "Oh, by the way, if you want to see all your previous clues collected into one place, I've made up a list for you here.

Altador beams at you as you approach. "So! We finally have a reward for your valiant efforts to restore the history of this great land. I must apologize for the delay, but it has taken us some time to regain our bearings. Suddenly remembering the entirety of one's history is quite taxing.

Nevertheless, we do have your rewards. Our treasury is quite full, and so we have decided to award you a tidy sum of Neopoints." He waves at Gordos, the Collector, who steps over to you, carrying a bulging bag.

Gordos glares at you. "I hate parting with such a large sum of money, but what Altador wants..." he grumbles. "Here you go.

The bag contains 5,000 Neopoints!

Next," Altador says, "we've awarded you this trophy.

And finally, we have a few items for you...

Altador smiles. "I hope that suffices. I regret that we couldn't provide more choice, but as I said, things are still a bit chaotic around here. And after all, this wasn't on the scale of what happened to the Lost Desert, or what will soon be happening in--" He stops. "Ahem. Nevermind.

Well!" he continues. "You will always be welcome in Altador, and we will be eternally grateful for your services to us. Farewell for now.

Council Chamber

Jerdana bids you forward, and begins to tell you the story again.

Surely you are aware of the recent chaos wrought by the Betrayer, also called, by some, the Darkest Faerie." She glances askew for a moment at King Altador, who raises an eyebrow but says nothing. "Freed from her underwater prison, she wrested control of the kingdom from us, and attempted to remake Altador in her own image. The cornerstone of her plan was to destroy the history of Altador, by means both physical and magical. She intended to destroy every history book in Altador, and then cast a spell to change the memories of every citizen so that she would be remembered as the true founder of the kingdom.

The first half of the spell draped a veil across our memories of Altador's history, as well as hiding any writings pertaining to that history. The spell also erased the Betrayer's memory of her very own plan to rewrite our history. However, it did not erase her memory of having conquered Altador in the first place, for this was something she had secretly desired since before the kingdom was even founded.

This is the spell you broke moments ago, by destroying the statue of the Betrayer. I embedded the power source for the spell within her statue, knowing that in her mad quest for glory, she would likely destroy all the statues in the Hall except for her own.

The second half of the spell provided for magical clues that would eventually lead you to the mechanism for destroying her statue. I am sorry it was such a long and drawn-out process, but I had to make sure that only someone persistent would try to solve it. The Betrayer has no patience for obscure puzzles, and she would hopefully have not realized that there was a puzzle to solve, even had she come across the first clue. Thankfully, she was vanquished before she did.

However, this meant that every citizen of Altador--including myself and the king--had lost our memories of not only Altador's storied past, but also our memories of having cast the spell entirely. Complicating things even more is the fact that none of us were even aware that anything was missing. But the very design of the puzzle ensured that someone such as yourself would come across it and attempt to unravel the mystery.

She grins at Finneus, who stands off to one side, looking abashed. "Our Archivist, alas, came to the wrong conclusion about me while you were solving the puzzle. I did indeed steal Altador's history, but for the noblest of causes." King Altador nods. "Indeed. Fear not, Finneus, for we can hardly blame you for misapprehending such a unique and dire situation.

Finneus blushes, embarrassed. "Of course not, your majesty.

Jerdana goes on. "The necklace you found hidden within the city wall was, as you guessed, the magical power source for the clues. As long as it remained undisturbed on its pedestal, it could reveal the clues one by one as they were solved. It did so by subtly manipulating both mind and matter; magically coercing certain citizens of Altador to undertake certain tasks, so as to provide you with the information necessary to solve the puzzle, as well as arranging physical objects, such as the clouds above Altador or the waves on the sea, to provide you with the clues to find the constellations.

Finneus pipes up. "This hero has acquitted themselves most capably in that regard, I must say." He smiles proudly at you.

Indeed you have," Altador chuckles. "We will soon provide you with a choice of rewards for your service to the kingdom. You can return here to see whether those rewards are yet available.

Jerdana nods, then examines you. "You have done a great thing, these past months," she says. "We can but hope that the Darkest Faerie is truly banished from our realm, including all she has wrought. Good journeys to you, and may the sun shine wherever you go.

Return to the Council Chambers the following day...

If you return to Finneus, you can now read the book. Click on it.

So far you can read up to page 57.

There are also links to different clubs on the bulletin board in the Archives, but as yet no-one has been able to join any of these clubs. CHANGED as of March 24th, 2006, when it became possible to join the Astronomy Club. Once having joined the Astronomy Club, the Quiggles in the other Clubs, who before said they didn't want the likes of you joining their club (!!!) now tell you, "I suppose you could join. What? You've already joined the Astronomy Club? Well fine! I didn't want you in my club anyway!

Oh dear! It seems that by joining the Astronomy Club, you've upset the Quiggle, and he refuses to let you join his club!

Herbalism Club, Mining Club, Underwater Basket Weaving Club, Engineering Club, and Alchemy Club. NOTE: What was once the Underwater Basket Weaving Club is now the Astronomy Club. April 5: What was once the Alchemy Club is now the Dance Club.

Please ignore the * before any "Onion_" or "Onions_" that is the last word of any item, as for some unknown reason (likely the "Deranged Mynci") the coding goes weird and I only inserted those to try to eliminate the weirdness.
