Welcome

I can't thank you enough, Janine.

Welcome to Lyiine's petpage - it's a work in progress :3

Smiling is visible on the exterior, but it is hard to keep the same happiness inside...

Lyiine is a guardian angel, and each charge she cares, loves and guides. She loves to help others, whether it is her charge or not, and revels in the happiness it gives her, albeit for short periods of time. She is forced to keep secrets in a world where secrets are forbidden.

Profile

L Y I I N E (Lie-een)
Nickname: Ly, Lyly
Age: Seems to be 17 years old.
Personality: Lyiine is the kind of person you would approach in the street asking for directions. She is a kind, helpful being - but under the perfect mirage is a strange and distant past, which she hardly can get to grips with. She respects all above and below her; she is fascinated by people's life stories - nearly always noting them down in a notebook. This is due to her job as a guardian angel, most likely. Sometimes she can be distant and unaware of what is going on around her, as though watching something more interesting than what is happening in front of her. She is a little hard to communicate with when in deep thought, but she will soon notice you are there, asking you questions as if nothing wrong. She bottles up everything, and hardly ever confides in someone, and would much rather help someone else.
Looks: When you first look at Lyiine, you see the typical bright blue wings of a water faerie. Closely afterwards however, you notice the intricate details of the joining of the silk-like texture. Her fur is a light brown in colour, the same colour throughout, and only changes on her foot where there are multiple golden coloured dots. Her hair is a dark turquoise and teal mix with brown highlights, which matches her usual attire. As with many guardian angels, she is covered with a few distuingishing marks - a sun coloured star on her lower neck, and a grey moon directly on the other side of her back. On her right thigh are three turquoise dots, all in a neat row following the shape of her thigh. All angels are marked with dots so that they can easily be known. Similar dots are also found around her left eye but in black - from when she was battling in Meridell. She does not know how she received the swirling turquoise scar on her lower back.

Ten

Ten
Lyiine's companian and best friend is Ten, the Snow Faellie. When Lyiine was dying on the battle fields, Ten was built in the no-mans land. Lyiine crawled over to where Ten stood, and held onto him as she lay bleeding.

Lyiine woke up in Heaven, and found Ten in her arms. To her surprise he didn't melt, even when she accidentally left him by a gust of hot air.
She discovered that, because she'd held onto him for her life, he had become her. An angel.

They can read each others minds, hear what each other are thinking. They are connected together like no other two souls :)

Story
Not everyone believes in guardian angels. It is their own opinion, I guess. But the more you believe, the more you realise how much more there is to Neopia. There's not just mutants.. faeries.. dinosaurs.. It doesn't mean that is the end to the magic. In the right state of mind, you can see... oh, so much more. It is like watching a beautiful flower open it's petals, and show off its pollen to the bees of the world. What you see is amazing. Your view is sharper, stronger, more.... real..

Of course, I would be biased, as I am one of Mother Nature's millions of guardian angels - Neopia's hidden workforce. Without us, the whole world would collapse - piece by piece. When Fyora created Neopia, she did not anticipate the speed in which the species forgot about their past. Forget about their origin. Fyora decided to use it to her advantage. To hide the truth.

Slowly but surely, Neopians began to believe in things they shouldn't believe. Flying beings in the skies.. strange haunted lands.. Fyora couldn't control their hunger for more. She had to take a stand. She didn't have enough eyes to watch over every Neopian. Fyora created a workforce so large, that if they stood in a line, they would wrap Neopia 2 million times. They were named the Guardian Angels. Their sole job was to look after a Presence until the day the Presence died – whenever that may be.

After hundreds of years, the Guardian Angels were well acquainted with Heaven. Every angel would do the exact same thing every single day for eternity. Fyora would first talk to the angel as soon as they woke up – telling them what they had to do that day, even though it would always be the same.

What Fyora did not realise was there were cracks showing. Many cracks. When you are an angel, you have no emotions, no feelings. Only brains. Yet, a group of angels – the elite – were morphing into a new breed of angels. They had lived too long watching Neopia. They had become too real, and therefore they were becoming human again.

The elite were losing their powers. The feeling of being superior to every living being on Neopia. Every second that went past, there was a weakening in their body.

Two members of the Angels Elite were best friends. Ceciali and Morphossi had been friends ever since they had met each other on their first day of training. They had instantly clicked. Soon, they realised they didn't have time to spare. Fyora would hear about this – this atrocity of angels becoming human.

Rumours had spread through the elites. That when Fyora found out she would separate them and send them to Neopia to live their last life. She would make sure they wouldn't come up to Heaven.

Some believed she already knew, that this was a survival test – to see who was the strongest. The best of the best.

Not many knew that Fyora had planned this out when she first created guardian angels. They weren't really immortal. No-one ever could be immortal. Fyora had to follow the Creators' guidelines, and made sure that Neopia could never have immortals.

So when guardian angels reach 9000 years old, they lose their "immortality". Fyora couldn't bear to lose workforce, so she lied. She said guardian angel's lived for ever.

The Elites announced to the rest of the group that they only had a few hundred years of angelicity left. Panic vibrated through everyone. Shocked them to the core. Ceciali and Morphossi realised they loved each other. Each one hiding the secret, ever since they met.

Soon a baby was born.

It caused a huge outrage. Other angels outwith the group were hit by reality. Their immortal lives were shorter than they first thought. Fyora managed to calm down the rumours.. the false accusations. But she had to rid of the baby. The baby that could cause the downfall of Heaven and Hell.

She sent the baby to Neopia, and made sure that the baby would not be accepted into Heaven. The parents were sent to an asylum, and were never heard of again.

Heaven forgot the mishap. Fyora forgot the mishap. Ceciali and Morphossi did not.

PRESENT------------------------------

Lyiine mumbles as she turned in her sleep. Her cloud bed squeaks as she moved. Seconds pass. TRING! TRING! TRING! Ly sighs heavily, reaching over to hit the alarm. Missing, the alarm clock flies off the floating table and bounces over the floor, hitting Ten, Lyiine's best friend. Ten squeaks and toddles over into the waste paper chute. All you can hear is hurried chirping echoes as Ten falls down the chute.

Lyiine sits up and rubs her eyes, furrowing her brow. Great, she thought now I'll need to go find Ten in the rubbish. She stands up, swaying a little, but flaps her wings and hovers into the air before the gravity can push her any further. She quickly changes into her turquoise robe, carefully pushing the seams together so they attach and hold in place.

At 7:10am the plasma TV in the room buzzes to life, flicking through the channels until it finds the one it's looking for. Lyiine automatically sits down in the bean bag chair in front of the screen, gazing up at it with a far away look. The TV turns to a purple screen, and standing in front of it is Fyora, the Queen of Faerieland and Heaven. Fyora coughs, looking at another point in the room she is in. A distant voice is heard Cameras on in... 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. Lyiine giggles at the bad timing of it all, but quietens when Fyora starts speaking.

Hello, Team X3, part of the Bynil district. Fyora pauses, squinting her eyes at Lyiine. Lyiine gasps, hoping she hasn't do anything wrong Stop your banter, Frina, it is quite enough. It isn't her, thank goodness. She has never heard of Frina before. She wonders what she had done: what was "banter"? As usual, please pick up your Universal Checkcard on your way in. Please do not step on the belt until the signal says to go. Please be aware that there are inspectors in the Headquarters, so please be on your best behaviour. That is all. The TV turns off, leaving Lyiine alone with only her furniture for company.

The strict rules of Heaven remind Lyiine of her life on Neopia. You're not supposed to remember what your life was like in Neopia, but Lyiine remembers vividly each memory. Her colleagues would always try and imagine what they would do if they could remember their life, as if they didn't know, but it comes easily to Lyiine. She always wonders why she was different to everyone else. She has been an angel for 1995 years, yet many things still stumped her.

She hadn't noticed the time. 7.25am. Late, late, late again. She was always late. It was as if something was controlling her. But, what could be controlling her?

Lyiine grabbed her messenger bag and looked for her Universal Card. Until she realised she had left it at the front desk. "Ugh, silly me" She walked to the door to her room and pressed the OPEN button. The panel slid open and welcomed her to the hallway. Ly trudged along to the lift shaft and floated down to the ground floor of her dorm and along to the main door, stopping to check the assignment board which is updated every 10 seconds. She had to wait a few seconds until the board recognised that it was her standing there. When it did, she gulped.

Lyiine

Your assignments today are:

8am – 9am Fyora's office
afterwards, continue as usual

A whole hour in Fyora's office?!" Lyiine thought. She couldn't bear the thought. "It must be something incredibly important" She glanced about her to check no-one saw her assignments, before quickly tapping on the screen to make it disappear. Checking the time, she whistled in and decided to fly out the doors.

The busyness of dorm street, nicknamed due to it being just dorm houses all the way along, was always overpowering to Lyiine, even though she had done this every day for years and years. The pavements where covered with slow-walking angels and stalls of hot food, but up high was where the real buzz took place. The early workers heading to their Presences were zooming along the middle of the street high up in the air. And in the middle of the road was nothing, nada – just the floating tube trains and the stupid angels – the newbies - daring each other to fly across the empty expance. It was a while since one had failed. Lyiine sighed in exasperation, took flight and whistled in between other angels, skilfully avoiding the otherwise impending collisions. For some reason, it always went well – no crashes, bruises, concussion. But then Ly remembered this wasn't reality, it wasn't anything – Heaven was just there.

These moments were the perfect time to just think about things. She would contemplate the past, think about the party that night, even though she knew it was trivial.
