ACE itself stands for Avatar Chat/Charter Edition. It took an awful long time to think up a fitting name, but with an acronym like ACE, we decided to make the full title fit around it! How many chat groups or guilds do you know with a forward-slash in their title =P

ACE is for people who either were ACers, or perhaps have never been an ACer, for reasons that previous ACers maybe no longer are! In short, the AC is not the nicest of places to frequent, but there is something that makes the AC a landmark in Neopia, and no-one can quite put their finger on it. ACE is for avatar collectors, people just looking to find a friendly place to chat, or simply for a group of friends to get together. And at ACE we hope to eventually branch out to the AC in various ways, doing out best to maybe make it possible to be proud of being an ACer again!

How do you become an ACEer?

ACE was created for any and all avatar collectors, whether or not they are deemed an 'Avatar Collector.' The one simple thing that every ACEer needs is the passion and desire to obtain more avatars even if it means sleepless nights stalking the Count or typing cramps from Typing Terror. Our member list is currently under construction and continually growing. Having that said, feel free to join the avatar chat on the current ACE boards since everyone is an ACEer in our eyes!

In early November 2008, barnoy2k(Barns) made a board on Charter. He had just been on the AC, and was in despair. He used to love the AC. Barns used to go there, he knew lots of people, enjoyed lots of lively discussions, and talked to other people about avatar goals and he got to know a whole host of people that were not only interesting but kind.

So when he went to the AC in early November/late October, it hit him greater than ever before just how much the AC had changed. It's no longer the nicest of places to hang around, and half the boards seem to either be scammer alert boards, or really far off topic and they didn't even seem relevant at all, let alone be deemed 'chat'.

So the board he made on Charter simply expressed his sadness, and how it would be so nice to have a place like the AC of old to go to, to meet new people, to talk about avatars (amongst other things), and to have somewhere safe to go. Of course, at the time he was just rambling, and he thought we all were, but all of a sudden, it just hit him... 'Why not?

Many people came to the board and agreed that it would be great to have somewhere like a chat group on Charter to come and talk about avatars, and agreed with Barns' ideas about creating somewhere like it.

He was moved into great activity, and all thanks to a lot of people who helped form the ideas and basis of ACE. He created ACE the next day, in the hopes of it becoming an all encompassing, multiple topic Avatar Chat.

The people below were those that contributed on the board Barns made on Charter, who all helped form ACE in it's own way.

Over the months we have been active already, ACE is moving along greatly, and the people that are with us are fantastic, and the enthusiasm around ACE is brilliant. You know if you have made a positive contribution to ACE, and if you have, you know how grateful both Barns and I are for it. He always knew that if we reached our third board, all would be good. And we made it, so we suppose ACE is here to stay! A massive thanks to all you ACEers, and all your support. =) An ever greater thank you goes out to Barns for passing on the torch of the ACE webbie to me and creating such a successful Charter Chat that we all enjoy! You began the legacy of ACE and we shall all continue to carry on the torch in our own special way.

Basically, as we all know, the AC is not just one topic that you can post on. So to get ACE more in line with an all encompassing chat group, Barns has come up with, for lack of a better title, The Home Board idea.

Essentially, the HOME board is the main ACE board you see on Charter, and there we can go and chat, have fun, and just enjoy ourselves! Now, let's say, a few ACEers wish to play Avatar Simon... it would be a bit unfair on those who didn't want to play to have the board clogged up with those playing Avatar Simon.
So!
We make a branch of ACE off of the HOME tree.

The solution is to make an avatar simon board on the AC. Yes, it's scary, but in doing so, we can spread the word of ACE, and if we just get one extra charter member to see what ACE is about, then I shall at least be happy.

The only requirements to making a new ACE 'branch' is to make sure ACE is clear in the title, and link to this webbie in the first post, where you probably will also post the rules of the game. That's it! Of course, branch boards can be on all sorts of topics, like who killed the avatar, general lending boards if you wish to have that seal of approval (see below), and even general plot boards, if you wish ACE people to help out. These boards, however, are not numbered, only the HOME board is.

Let's hope that made sense!

So many of us were once ACers, and still try to cling onto the hope that one day the AC may become a nicer place to frequent. So not only are we ACEers, but we hope to do our bit in making the AC a nicer place to visit, so we can perhaps one day be happy again with being an ACer.
