Food Club is a game of chance located at Krawk Island. Every day at 2pm NST, five different food-eating contests take place. In each contest, four different pirates compete.
Your participation in this game involves betting on the outcome(s) of the five eating contests. You are permitted to place up to ten bets per day. In each individual bet, you may wager on the outcome of just one contest, several contests, or all five contests.
If you place a bet involving more than one contest, each pirate you wager on must win his contest for you to win that bet. For example, if you bet 100 NPs that Puffo the Waister in Shipwreck (2:1 odds), and Ol' Stripey in Harpoon Harry's (4:1 odds), will win, then both Puffo and Ol' Stripey must win for you to win that bet. If either Puffo or Ol' Stripey loses, then your bet fails. While this seems like it's bad odds to combine your bets, the advantage to betting on more than one contest at a time is that your odds multiply rather than add up. So in this example, instead of getting 2:1 for Puffo the Waister and 4:1 for Ol' Stripey (200 NPs + 400 NPs, for a total of 600 NPs), you get 2*4 = 8:1 (800 NPs) for correclty betting that Puffo and Ol' Stripey will both win. With the right combination of odds, this can really raise your bank balance fast!
Now that you know how Food Club works, there's a "trick" to consistently making a profit at the game. The key is to place a combination of ten bets, of equal amounts wagered, that will cover every likely outcome in a few of the contests, with each payout totalling at least 10:1 (a return of 10:1 means you break even... anything above 10:1 is profit). If you're doing it right, most of your bets will necessarily contradict one another, but no matter which of your bets wins, you get at least your NPs back, and typically a profit.
NOTE: toxiktoast was kind enough to test how long "within 7 days of the match" means, with respect to allowing your winnings to accumulate for a trophy. She started saving her winnings from the round that played at 1pm on 26 January, and collected at 3:30pm on 1 February. All seven rounds' worth of winnings were there. It went like this:
Day 1: 1pm 26th January to 12:59pm 27th January
Day 2: 1pm 27th January to 12:59pm 28th January
Day 3: 1pm 28th January to 12:59pm 29th January
Day 4: 1pm 29th January to 12:59pm 30th January
Day 5: 1pm 30th January to 12:59pm 31st January
Day 6: 1pm 31st January to 12:59pm 1st February
Day 7: 1pm 1st February to sometime later
In another trial, toxiktoast went to collect bets after midnight, but the 7-day-old bets were no longer available. So you have until 11:59pm NST on the seventh day to collect.
