Londavar's Atlantis

Greetings guest! What brings you to my little oasis? I like to call it my Atlantis, basically, my paradise. Oh right, I'm Londavar. But you can call me Lon, or Davar, or Lonny...or...you know what, guest, I think I'd just like it if you call me Londavar. *heh* I'm a pink peophin. Yeah pink! I know, I'm a guy, and guys don't normally wear a lot of pink, but hey, I suppose you're just going to have to get over it.

Pink is for real men, that's what I tell those guys who laugh at me. I'm secure enough with my masculinity to sport such a bright color. Of course, not everyone can pull it off. You've got to be suave, cool, and confidentlike me!

I sound pretty confident, eh? Well, I wasn't always that way. Nope, I used to be very self conscious

I would also like to add my apologies for typos, grammatical and/or spelling, but its very hard to type with hooves, believe me!

So please, stay awhile (at least long enough for the background picture to load)! Take a swim. Sunbathe. Martini?

My Story

I was born somewhere between Krawk Island and Maraqua, I'm not sure exactly where. You see, when I was younger, our little family moved around a lot. As a baby peophin, people used love to pet me and talk to me and say how cute I was. You see, all baby peophins are pink, and it's only later that they grow in to their adult colored coats. As I began to grow older, people stopped adoring me and, rather, gave me lots of funny stares. I didn't quite understand.

Then one day this lupe walked up to me and whispered in my ear, "Are you a boy?"

Yeah, of course I am!" I replied huskily.

Oh, well, its just thatwell, you're allallPINK!" The little lupe started to laugh.

What's wrong with pink? I've always been pink!" I protested, confused at what was so funny.

Pink is for girls! Everybody knows that!" With that the little lupe bounded off howling in laughter.

After that I stayed home a lot more and refused to go out with my owner. I even try spray painting myself blue. Catching me with an empty can and more paint on the floor than on myself, my owner questioned what I was doing. I told her that the other Neopians made fun of me because pink was apparently supposed to be for girls, and I was a boy. I wanted to be a color accepted by the other boys, so I tried to paint myself.

While washing the paint off my fur and the kitchen floor, my owner explained to me that pink wasn't just for boys, but for everyone. Anyone who couldn't see that, or made fun of me, was not worth talking to anyways, and I should just ignore them. Besides, she added, if I really wanted to paint myself, I would need a magical paint brush, not a spray can.

But I love you just the way you are, and I would never paint you any other color!" She added smiling.

Her talk conforted me, and I would again venture outside and made a few friends. I didn't like to go too far though, especially not by myself. I was afraid of what others might think still. Soon, however, time came for me to go to school, and venture away from my comforting little home. The first day was the hardest. I had so many neopets teasing me it was horrible! I came home crying enough tears to fill our small lake!

Again my owner conforted me with talk about how I should be proud of my color; not many guys wore pink, and that made me special, in a good way. She also told me to not let the bullies bother me. Ignore them and they'll get bored and go away. Well, that didn't work very well with some neopets in particular. There was this big nasty grarrl who went by the name of Skramble. Whether that was his real name or not I'll never know! He always took my lunch money and pulled my mane, or cut in front of me in line. I tried to ignore him, but it was really hard.

As I progressed through school, I met a couple of loyal friends who weren't bothered at all by my coloring, and still had trouble trying to avoid Skramble. One day, however, he went too far and began shoving one of my friends down a dumpster.

Leave him alone!" I shouted.

Or what?" The grarrl glared at me, teeth glistening.

OrOr!" I could take it anymore, my heart pound and full of rage I galloped toward the blood-thirsty Skramble. He never saw my tail coming. I knocked him square out. Thankfully, I had had the opportunity once to meet the great warrior Splash1111 and she taught me a few moves to defend myself.

After sending Skramble scrambling away with a few lost teeth and a nasty cut, I was suspended for a few days, but never bullied again. People actually respected me now, and began to respect myself. I found with more self confidence I could enjoy life so much better, and have a lot more fun. Plus, people thought twice before messing me.

Actually, through out the years, my coloring has actually helped me out with the ladies. They tell me they admire a man who can sport pink. *Grins* So I guess being pink isn't so horrible after all. You've just got to get used it. Have a little self-respect and it can take you farther than you actually think. You're born a certain way, and there's really no need to change that. You can be beautiful if you just learn to hold your head high and not let the others who actually lack self-confidence bring you down to their level of fear and despair. Enjoy life the life you're given, that's what I've learned.

My Family

Evening_Cloud: My big brother. He's really kind of quiet, and likes to roam around a lot. I don't know why; with all the food and luxuries around here¦Maybe that's just me...heh...Well, he's got a kind of quiet self-assuredness to him. He knows where he's at. Humble but firm. I heard him mutter once "And I though Uni's were supposed to be vain..." But I don't really know what he meant by that...*Admires reflection in pool*

FlaminVe3la: He's the oldest in our family, but the most comical¦and also the most into changing his appearance. In the past two months, he's changed his coat three times! Sometimes his gender changes...but I don't ever ask how that's possible! Right now things just seem...so dull and depressing...I don't know what's go into him, but he's not his usual spunky, joking self....Infact, he recently decided to take a vacation to sort things out in his life. I'm not sure how he's doing, but I hope he's okay. He promised he'd visit again one day.

Sazoky: She's the newest edition to our little family. She came into our family as our protector; she does all the fighting and tough stuff around here. She's unusually quiet about her past life, before she came to us that is, and I can sometimes hear her mumbling about old friends and a younger sister. Although she refuses to delve into what her life was like before, she has opened up to us a lot, and is no longer as reclusive as she used to be. She's definitely part of the gang now!

It's All Relative

The Hippocampus and the Peophin

While were here, why not learn a little about some of the Peophin's close relatives? I did, after all, go to school for this kind of stuff!

Here we have the hippocampus, a legendary creature from Greek mythology. *points to picture below* My owner drew it so you could see what they look like. Kind of reminds you of us peophins, eh? Well, thats because we're actually relatively close kindred!

Our not to distant cousins, the hippocampai, are half horse, half dolphin, just like peophins. BUT, there are some differences between us. Hippocampai, for example, don't have the little fins by their ears that we peophins have. Peophins also come in a far greater variety of colors and designs, while as hippocampai's colors are usually solid, such as pictured below, or perhaps flecked and sometimes splotchy. Another signifigant difference is the diet of these aquatic horses. They dine on only seaweed and underwater plants and or plankton, where as peophins can (and will) eat just about anything, ranging from spaghetti to caviar! These beasties also are about three times the size of a normal peophin!

Our fellow water horses also have a lengendary history. It's said that they pulled the chariots of the greek gods, and were especially favored by the god of the sea, Posiedon! How's that for legendary decent? :)

So there you have it. Now you can tell the difference between a peophin and a hippocampus. Isn't that teriffic? :D

The Pegasus and the Uni

You may have heard of the peophin's other equine-ish relative, the uni. Just as the the peophin, the uni has a not so distant cousin it is sometimes mistaken for, the pegasus. Uni's, however, are much different. You can just ask my brother, Evening_Cloud. Most of this information I learned from him.

Physical differences are pretty obvious (I think). First of all, Uni's typically don't get quite as large as a pegasus. My brother, Cloud, is just 114 cm's, that's about the span of one of a pegasus' wing! So you see, Pegasai (the plural form of pegasus) are quite larger. Another major difference, of course, is the horn that uni's have, which are absent from their larger cousins. Horns upon horse-like creatures are often associated with unicorns, leading to the strong belief that Uni's came about as a cross between a Pegasai and unicorns. Like the hippocampus, a pegasus' coat is usually lacking of major designs or extremely vibrant colors, such as the unis have access too (I mean, just look at that rainbow uni!)

Behavioral differences include that Unis are incredibly vain, where as Pegasai are quite content to leave bits of dirt and burrs in their fur for a few days without complaint. Uni's are also quite content to live and be pampered by humans, a trait the pegasus (and for that matter the unicorn as well,) does not share! These creatures are so skittish of humans in fact they are rarely seen anymore! If one does, however, manage to befriend a pegasus, it will take many months or even years of work, but you will have a loyal companion for life.

So there you have it, if a 114 cm winged horse comes bounding up to you in the middle of the forest asking for hoof polish, you can now conclude that this creature is in fact a uni, and not a pegasus!

The Crocodile and the Krawk

Well, although not a horse-like creature like myself, I've run into a few negg-heads who couldn't tell the difference between a krawk and a crocodile! So, I've decided that there may be those who are curious enough to learn the distinctions that make each of these creatures unique.

Physical appearances are quite obvious, I believe. First of all, the krawk typically stands on its hind legs, while the crocodile almost always runs about on four legs. Krawks also have this unusual furry Mohawk atop their heads, where as crocodiles have not traces of such hair on their bodies. The krawks eyes are also much larger in proportion to the rest of its body than the crocodiles. The coloring of krawks tend to be much more vibrant that those of the crocodile (are we sensing a pattern here?). While krawks come in many different shades and styles, crocodiles are typically only brownish green or tan. The length of a krawk is usually much smaller than that of a croc. Some species of crocodiles can even reach 26 feet long! Wouldn't want to meet him a in a dark alley way, eh?

Behavioral differences are quite different as well. Krawks tend to be fiercly loyal to their owners and even go to great lengths to protect those they trust firmly. Crocodiles, however, rarely have such bonds with humans. There are even some species that tend to eat humans, such as the nile crocodile! Krawks also like to get involved in trouble making and pulling pranks. Crocodiles typically don't understand these concepts and usually go about their behavior in a more natural way, doing things that are necessary for their survival. Crocs tend to loaf about a bit more than krawks do as well.

So, now, when you are deciding on a pet, know how to tell if the pet store owner my have a secret death wish for you if he tries to sell you a baby Nile crocodile as a krawk. But you're now smart enough to tell the difference! Please keep in mind, while owning a krawk is quite legal, owning a crocodile is quite illegal.

The Griffin and the Eyrie

Ah, yes, well, there are still many creatures with similarities to neopets, and our next subject is the griffin. The griffin and the eyrie are quite similar in appearance, just like the peophin and the hippocampus, but, if there were no differences between the two, I wouldn't be making this section now would I?

Physical differences seem a bit more difficult to locate than between krawks and crocs at first. At first glance, they appear very similar, but closer investigation calls our attention to the big busy mane surrounding the eyrie, which is lacking on a griffin. As we move toward the head, another difference catches our eye, the large feathery ears extending from an eyrie is not present on a griffin, but rather, a few elongated feathers that protrude from the head that create the crest feathers. Griffin's tend to extend them to stand up on their heads when in danger or fighting, which makes them appear larger. Another prime difference is that griffin's have long bird-like talons for their front legs, while an eyrie's forelegs still resemble those of a lion. From the wings backwards, the anatomy of an eyrie is pretty much similar to a griffin's. Thus, although in a quick glance they seem quite similar, the eyrie and the griffin do in fact have quite a few physical differences.

Behavioral differences include foremost that many eyries have a itching for battle (take the Battle Faerie's faithful eyrie for example, or Lord Kass) while the griffin, despite its massive and ferocious appearance, prefers intellectual battles. Griffins are incredibly intelligent and have created many unique inventions and mastered many human made gadgets, such as computers, as well. Most griffins only battle in defense of themselves or their young, or if an edgy territorial dispute comes into play. The two, however, do share a playfulness that you may not expect from such beasts. Griffins tend to feast primarily on fresh meat, particularly fish, while eyries are omnivores.

Again, you are now more knowledgeable in telling your neopets apart from other creatures. So, if your pet eyrie continuously complains he isn't getting enough breadfish and butterfish, but you have an excess of omelettes you'd rather feed him instead, he can't trick you into thinking a most healthy diet includes mainly fish, for he isn't a griffin.
