SECTION 1: Frequently Asked Questions
How were points worked out?
We don't know exactly, but we do know the following:
- The faster you did everything, the more points you got.
- No points were given out for moving sand
- No points were given out for moving blocks
- No points were given out for moving furniture
- No points were given out for completing the Qasalan Hieroglyph Click Sequence (Fake)
- No points were given out for speaking the "Fake" Second Prophecy and getting the Mountain of Scarabs!
- No points were given out for fighting in the Battledome (except as part of the puzzle)
I didn't get a trophy!
If you completed any part of the puzzle you will get a trophy. Go to the Gift Shop of 1,000 Rewards to activate it.
How do I get the sidebar?
If you completed any part of the puzzle you will get the sidebar. Go to the Gift Shop of 1,000 Rewards to unlock it, and then go to the User Preferences page under 'Help' in the sidebar to turn it on.
Where do I get my prizes? Which prizes should I get?
Get your prizes from the Gift Shop of 1,000 Rewards. I can't tell you which prizes to get, its your choice.
Where did the temple go? Where did the repository go? Where did the fortune teller go?
The puzzle is now over. You can no longer complete any of the steps.
What happened to the Parchment Puzzler avatar
I asked a programmer the very same thing. Here is the reply I got.

Where was the war?
There was never going to be a war. Donna said in the editorial months ago that there wouldn't be one, just some fights instead. You got those.
What is the next plot, and will there be a war?
Probably the Darkest Faerie, and yes, there will probably be a war. Don't quote me on that though, I can't tell you for definate.
Will you be doing a guide to the next plot?
I'm not sure yet... probably.
What will happen to this page now?
It will remain here as a historical archive.
Who is behind Lister691?
I am! Jibbles691 is my username. No, thats right, Lister is not a person, Lister is a pet. For those who care, Lister is named after a character from the fabulous Red Dwarf tv show.
Can I put my Useless Crystal or Mysterious Scroll in my Safety Deposit Box?
Yes! There was a bug that meant you couldn't, but you can now! I recommend it, you wouldn't want the pant devil or grundo leader to steal it!
My crystal/scroll has disappeared!
Now that the plot is over, you can't get another one. Sorry!
Where did you get the "LDP - But What Does It Mean?" avatar from?
You could get this avatar from completing and translating your mysterious tablet. As the plot is now over, this is no longer possible.

What happened to the transcripts?
Sorry, I've stopped doing them.
Do you work for TNT?
No, although I wish I did. I'm just someone with far too much time on their hands lol.
Is it true the KIKO'S are planning to overthrow TNT? (as asked by mleckie)
You're weird... o_0

10th June - Editorial
When will the next war start .... You know after the maraquan war finishes which war will be next?
Haha.. give us a chance :) I am not sure right now, it is too early to say when. It will be set in the Lost Desert though.
17th June - Editorial
Could you maybe combine the supporter and warrior role into one?
Hmm... That is interesting. Maybe this is something we would do in the next war. Also, to change things up a little you will not be given the option to choose sides in the next war, you will all unite and fight together!
24th June - Editorial
Can you show the cast of the Lost Desert plot?
Some of the cast will be spotlighted on the Card of the Day page, but we are not going to release their pictures just yet. I can tell you however that the stars are as follows :
* Prince Jazan - Male Kyrii
* Princess Amira - Female Aisha
* Horace - Male Blumaroo
* Nabile - Female Ixi
* Tomos - Male Lupe

Not an Usul in sight :D
24th June - Editorial
Could you please make Sakhmet City an actual city?
Oh it will be soon enough :) The Lost Desert will be majorly revamped when we are running that storyline.
1st July - Editorial
Are Princess Vyssa and co. still in charge of Sakhmet?
Not as such, no. This is a whole new plot set several years later. Vyssa has left her sister Amira to run the city while she is off on royal visits and such. (Plus we have had way too many Usul heroes and heroines).
22nd July - Editorial
Why are there never any Shoyru heros in the plots?
Oh, that's because we hate Shoyrus (only joking). Actually Princess Amira's most trusted advisor in the Lost Desert plot is a Shoyru.
26th August
Lost Desert Plot Update - The first installment of our new storyline set in the Lost Desert is due to go live next week. You will start to see these strange scrolls around the site. Maybe you should think about holding on to them...

26th August - Editorial
Wow, thats a lot of questions. Firstly the first part of the plot (the first comic) will go live next week. You will be able to see every part of the story as they go live, the same way they last two plots worked.
The scrolls are part of something special we are doing with this plot. Basically rather than just having a war to decide who gets what, there will be many puzzles, many fights and some other challenges for you to do in order to earn points. The scrolls may be used in that, just as a hint, if you see one, hold on to it. I can't tell you more than that as I have already given away a lot :) Just keep checking new features.

2nd September - Editorial
I wondered, if you could set up a link somewhere to the Lost Desert Plot anywhere, so that we don't have to search through the news, to read the comic?
There should be a link from the Lost Desert map page, if there is no already, there will be one shortly.

In the first part of the new Lost Desert plot, why on earth is the strange visitor riding a Uni?
The Uni is Jazan's best friend. They often go on adventures together and they can travel far faster with Jazan on his back. Unfortunately Kyrii are not known for their remarkable running speed.

Donna, I have seen some people have Tyrannian army points, Will you be having a Lost Desert army in this plot and if so, how will you get the points?
This plot we are doing something different, you will not be able to choose sides, but you will earn points that can be redeemed for great prizes. One way will be through fighting, but that is just one of many...

Please tell us if you will be having a Neoboard about the Lost Desert plot?
Yup, we missed it the first day we launched the plot, guess we were too excited getting the comic finished. The Neoboard is now there, so you can chat about it all you like :)

Why in plots are Uni's nameless steeds who never talk?
Oh this one is very different :) This Uni has real character as you will see later on :D

How come the Ixi on the comic has hands instead of hooves?
That is Nabile, she is a special character from our TCG set. As with a lot of our named characters we use a little artistic license with their appearance (like Isca and Caylis). It would be difficult for Nabile to do some of the things that she does later in the story if she only had hooves.

I was wondering if you were going to update the Sakhmet Palace featuring the Lost Desert Plot characters?
Yes, in fact the whole Lost Desert map will be changing quite drastically very soon. Muahahahahaha!

I was just wondering about the Lost desert Plot. I don't really understand what we are suppose to do. Could you explain?
For now just have fun playing games and enjoy the story. You will be asked to play a more active role as the story unfolds.

Just wondering if the Lost Desert Plot will be super-ultra-extra hard to solve? And could you tell us a little insight on what will the main solving quality be? (i.e. battle, puzzles)
We are hoping it will be super-ultra-extra hard to solve. Its hard to make a puzzle with millions of people working to solve it though, I am sure some people will get certain parts easily. The parts really are quite varied, and you just need to figure out what you have to do to progress.
22th September
Chapter 6 of the Lost Desert Plot has just gone live. It seems things are getting worse in Sakhmet.

Those curious about the Nightsteed will be happy to hear the Neopedia now has a bit more information regarding this mysterious character.

Eep! It appears one of the creatures attacking Sakhmet has gone too far. Can you help the Defenders of Neopia defeat this monster?

22th September - Lenny Conundrum
It starts in the desert but not in the plain,
But then? Not in sunshine, but found in the rain.
After that, just ask Coltzan, Amira knows not.
And end in the pyramid; not a temple or hut.
Put them together, your next task's in hand.
And perhaps a great city will return to this land.

23rd September - Editorial
I have found the 2nd paper that shows which door I have to enter. I've looked in the temple for more then a week. I cant find it. Can you please do something about that? Im really anoyed!
If you find yourself becoming lost in the Temple of 1,000 Tombs, we suggest you begin to map each area of the tomb starting from the first room. It's much easier than randomly clicking away and becoming lost or running around in circles. But you didn't hear it from us as we don't give hints to plot puzzles. *shifty eyes*

I've mapped the entirety of my Lost Desert temple, but I'm missing several door-and-symbol combinations - including the one I need for the first piece of the tablet. Is this a glitch, or is there a way to unlock all of the temple?
Everyone's tomb contains each door/symbol/colour combination that currently exists. Try going back and looking through your map carefully to make sure you didn't miss any rooms. (This message contains no clues or hints whatsoever.)

Are you going to release a sidebar with the Lost Desert Plot?
Erm… sidebar? What gave you that idea? Yes, we are hoping to! It's still in the works though, so no promises as of yet, but it is our intention to release one if we can. Shhh…

How can younger players participate in the lost desert plot? We can't play [insert game we can't name lest we give away puzzle clues by accident]! Is there an alternative way?
Yeah, sorry about that. That location was chosen for the plot before it had been removed from the site for those users. We've since modified the page to give the proper clues in a slightly different manner so if you're one of those users that's stuck, just return to that page to get the next clue.

All over the boards people are cursing the Scroll Repository Foreman for sending them to a corner or threatening them with that little club of his. Is there a way to get him as a challenger, so we can all get our own form of justice for his cruelty?
He is a rather feisty little fellow with that cudgel of his, isn't he? Perhaps after the plot we can work on that so you can have your revenge. Or! Even better! SR Foreman vs. DFM Pteri death-match! Wicked.

Because you have dedicated a WHOLE day to the Nightsteed is there going to be a nightsteed avatar?
Ohh, he *would* make a cool avatar, wouldn't he? Perhaps we didn't release one because we have other plans for an avatar with his likeness… *shifty eyes*

Are there going to be parts where it's advantageous to be amongst the first to do something, and in particular will there be a prize at the end that there'sa race to get?
We're trying. :) Anyway, without giving too much away, we'll say that we are keeping track of every piece of the puzzle each person completes. There are certain stages where completing things first will earn you more points than someone who completed it much later, but in general, the more of the puzzle you complete as a whole, the greater the reward will be at the end.

I have collected all the pieces of the tablet and I went to the door in the temple that I had to enter. But now I can't get out of the room behind that door! It has been over three days now and every time I go to the temple I don't get to see the entrance, but I get sent to that room immediately. Did I do something wrong? Or is it a fault in the game?
Hrmm... we think we know what you mean. Try saying something that is not the correct thing to the thing in the room behind the door with the correct thing on it. Yeah.

Are you going to close the repository once the Lost Desert Plot is over? Because if you would do that, the Foreman/Chef would be unemployed again, and you can't do that to him!
We have plans for a few pieces of the puzzle once the Plot is over, but we can't tell you about them. ;)
But if we did end up closing the repository, he'd probably just retire. He has a great pension plan.

TNT! My mysterious scroll has been stolen. Will I still get the prizes that people will get if they have the mysterious scroll because I really spent so much time in this plot and it is really unfair just to repeat everything. I felt really bad when it was stolen. ~ happyicyfun
Don't worry! Just go back to the temple and regain your previous crystal and repeat the last step. :) We're not *that* mean.

I know this won't get published probably, but I just wanted compliment the artists who worked on the LDP comic, especially the Nightsteed. I think he's one of the best drawn plot characters so far. I hope we see some more of him around... *cough* ~ blueelm
Published! Take that!

In all seriousness, thank you very much! I'm sure the artists that work tirelessly trying to illustrate these plots sincerely appreciate your compliment. It really is a bummer that we can't please everyone all the time, despite our best efforts, so it's an extremely good feeling to know that there are users out there that appreciate us! :)

As for the others... well, they will turn soon enough. Oh yes... soon enough.

We have a new Neopedia Article all about Tomos from the Lost Desert plot.

Princess Amira has been added to our How To Draw pages.

Razul proves to be quite a powerful sorcerer and all around evil guy in this chapter of the Lost Desert Plot.

The Lost Desert plot has come to an end. Check out Chapter 18 to read the conclusion.

We are proud to announce the official unveiling of Qasala. Now you can visit Qasala whenever you wish and buy all sorts of things from the city's vendors.

With the curse on Qasala lifted, the puzzle portion of the plot is now over! Congratulations to everyone who braved the Temple of 1,000 Tombs, dug in the sand and endured the Foreman for hours on end, and read more scrolls than all the Repository librarians combined! We'll have fancy trophies and prizes for everyone once we tally up all the points for all possible steps in the puzzle. There were quite a few. ;)

Since Jazan did end up saving Neopia after all, we have updated his Gallery of Evil entry.

2nd December - Editorial

I completed my Lost in the Desert plot (yes I had to read ALL those scrolls! Not funny TNT :P) But today a mean Grundo stole my Mysterious Scroll :( Does this mean that I won't get my trophy? or do you guys already know who has and hasn't completed their plots? It'll be sad to go through all that and not get anything :( Thanks!! ^_^

Not to worry! Every time you completed even the smallest step during the puzzle, it was logged and tracked. It doesn't matter that you don't have the scroll at this very moment. We know you completed it and can even tell when, what order, what you did before that, etc.. That's kinda creepy actually.

Anyway, this is also the reason why it will take us a while to tally points, figure out trophy and prize ranks, etc. We want to make sure those that made it all the way through are greatly rewarded, but also that everyone who gave it their best shot gets something for their trouble as well. :)

3rd February 2006 - Editorial

Thank you spending so much time to figure out what everyone did for the LDP. The wait was long but it now seems worth the wait to me. I wanted to send out my thanks because I am sure a lot of hours were put into figuring out the points for every person who took part in the plot. Of course I would have liked more points to spend on things but as far as war/plot prizes go I felt this was the most fair way I have seen them done since I have started to participate in the wartime/plot activities. Again My heartfelt thanks for a puzzle plot and individualized plot points! ;)
What's that strange noise? Is it... praise?!? It's so warm and fuzzy!! Thank you! ^_^ We do really apologise for the wait, but we wanted to check and re-check everything quite a few times to make sure it was as fair as possible! (Not to mention making sure the prizes themselves were just right. Anubis Toxicology Reports, anyone?) We can't really express how happy we are that everyone enjoyed themselves! It was a LOT of work, but we hope to make the next plot even better.

How long will the shop for the lost desert plot prizes be open? I want to wait a while, but I didn't want to come back in a few weeks to see that all my points had disappeared.
Though there are always unforeseen events, at the moment we have no intention of ever taking it down so feel free to take your time in choosing your well-deserved rewards. :)

I didn't get anything (trophy nor points) and i did at least a third of the plot... I even still have the pictures I saved from making a map so i could get around my tomb better so I was just wondering if there was any specific reason I didn't get anything. Thank you.
As a general note to everyone, you need to go to the Gift Shop of 1,000 Rewards to pick up your plot points, trophy, and sidebar. If you have done this, are logged into the same account on which you participated in the puzzle, and you are absolutely positive you participated (and didn't just wander around your temple and leave) and still don't see a score, please feel free to contact us and we will check our records.

May i know how did TNT calculate the scores for the plot? I have completed all the puzzles but have less points compared to others who have not done so. Why is this so?
Well, we won't give away all the secrets. ;) However, we can say that the faster you completed portions of the puzzle, the more points you got. We wanted to make sure that anyone who was brave enough to map their temple and trudge their way through the Scroll Repository was properly rewarded, but those that were with us the whole way and figured things out before anyone else got more points for their extra effort.

I am very proud! I got the maximum amount of points on the Lost Desert Plot! And I love my prizes! So I feel pretty bad complaining, but I noticed that I don't have the ultimate trophy... Simply because I skipped the false prophecy. I'm glad to see that it wasn't worth any points, but I'm really disappointed to have a not -quite-as-spiffy trophy because I skipped the unnecessary step. Do you have any comfort for me on that? Thanks!
Congratulations on completing the plot! We hate to be the one to tell you this though... 179,300 is not the top score. The trophy you possess is the second rank down though, which isn't too shabby. :) As stated in an earlier question, some people who finished faster than you were given more points. The top scorers were revealed on the New Features for February 1st if you'd like to see how you compare!
And it should be noted that whether or not you completed the false prophecy had nothing to do with your final score or trophy! No points were awarded for completing these two parts of the puzzle, since it was fake and all that. It was just a fun thing to list in the stats. :)

SECTION 3: The Characters
1: Neopets Magazine No 11 Character Guide
Thanks to emmet327 for sending me this information!

Princess Amira: The elder sister of Vyssa, Amira was away on official business when her father, King Coltzan, was assassinated. Vyssa governed the city of Sakhmet until Amira's return. Unbeknownst to Amira, Prince Jazan has been betrothed to the ruler of Sakhmet and he is determined to get his bride.

Nabile: Nabile was born in the gutter district of Sakhmet to an extremely poor family. A wily street urchin, Nabile scavanges what she can from rich passers by. Nabile and her friends tend to go unnoticed by people in the city, although they pretty much know everything that goes on.

Horace the poor: Best known for his tatty clothes and constantly rumbling belly, Horace is a regular feature on the streets of Sakhmet. Unlike Nabile, Horace is to lazy to use his wits to earn money. Instead, he sits at the side of the road hoping that someone will throw him a little food or money.

Tomos: Tomos is an orphan who has lived in the streets of Sakhmet for as long as he can remember. He longs to be a great adventurer and treasure seeker, but nothing exiting ever seems to happen in his city.

Nuria: This Fire Faerie abandoned the luxuries of Faerieland to set up home in the wastes of the Lost Desert. Few neopets realize she exists, and fewer still understand her powers.

Prince Jazan: This young prince, a noble from a neighboring kingdon, has a very dark past. He has his eyes set on Sakhmet and all its riches to avenge his father's death. Unfortunately, however, even Jazan doesn't fully understand his father's wishes.

However, Jazan transported half of it to an alternate dimension! It then looked like this:

On the 22nd September, footprints appeared in the top-right corner. These led to the scroll repository.

On the 9th November, Sakhmet returned, followed by a Sakhmet map on the 23rd November:

On the 29th November, Qasala also appeared on the map:

SECTION 5: The Scrolls
Just before the plot started, several mysterious scrolls were announced. Everyone believed that these were released to players via random events, and several people (including duke_of_mildew and buffoonery) posted on the NeoBoards to confirm that they had found them. It is only with the release of the solution that we now know that these were staff members acting as players. No scrolls were officially released to actual players, apart from a few via a glitch. The glitched scrolls were later removed.

SECTION 6: The Fortune Teller

At the bottom of chapter one of the story was a link called 'Psst'.
This led to the Fortune Teller.
Her mysterious tablet appeared to be different for everyone. Please note that they are random, and different people have different symbols in the same places... so no you couldn't just go and work together on this one :(
On the 11th September, the fortune teller started recieving visions in her crystal ball. One appeared approximately every 6 hours, and these were clues to finding the missing pieces of the tablet.

Once the tablet was complete, the fortune teller started saying:
You've found all the tablet pieces! Remarkable!" The fortune teller gazes into her crystal ball for a moment. "But what does it mean? These glyphs and their order mean nothing to me. I'm a fortune teller, not a professor of ancient languages! We must find some way to translate them. You can look at the Mysterious Tablet again if you like.

You were then able to translate the prophecy (and gain an avatar in the process!). Once your tablet was translated, the fortune teller started saying:
So, the tablet has yielded its message. It sounds like some kind of... prophecy, I suppose. I wonder what the prophecy means.

You were then able to speak the prophecy to the fire faerie. section 5-3 for instructions on how to find this. Once you had done this, the fortune teller started saying:
You got buried in a pile of scarabs? How strange. I sure didn't see that one coming!" She glares at her crystal ball. "Piece of junk. That'll teach me to trust people at the Trading Post. Well, I guess you can still go back to the Mysterious Tablet. Maybe we can figure out something else.

On the 21st September the fortune teller also started to say:
She calls out to you again as you turn to leave. "Oh! I almost forgot. I heard something about a few of Princess Amira's ministers, who were outside of Sakhmet when it vanished. They're going to get that new scroll repository finished so that they can use it as a library, and try to figure out how to bring Sakhmet City back. I don't know when the project is starting, though.

Late on the 22nd September this changed slightly:
She calls out to you again as you turn to leave. "Oh! I almost forgot. A few of Princess Amira's ministers were outside the city when it... vanished. They're working on getting that scroll repository completed so that they can use it as a library, and try to figure out how to bring Sakhmet City back. I hear that the repository is way, way out in the middle of the lost desert.

On the 30th September this changed again:
She calls out to you again as you turn to leave. "That scroll repository they're building sure looks like it's gonna take a while. Sakhmet City is trapped in another dimension, plagued by zombies -- or so I hear -- and meanwhile, the remainder of Neopia quietly watches a handful of Rukis making furniture. Remarkable.

On the 31st October this changed again:
She calls out to you again as you turn to leave. "Oh, I heard that the scroll repository is now open for business. Just a bunch of scrolls, at first, can you believe that? How is anyone supposed to find anything? At least now they've put in a card catalog and signs on the rooms, so you know where you are!

This is the last thing she said until much later in the plot.

SECTION 7: The Temple of 1000 Tombs

On the 2nd September, the Temple of 1000 Tombs went live. It was advertised in the banner ads.

This banner took you to the entrance of the tomb. Once inside, you found hundreds of doors and passages, which appeared to be random. In fact, they are the same for you every time you visit, although everyone has a different layout, so I cannot provide a map.

The majority of these doors led to a trap - See Section 7- 1

Three doors within your temple will lead to libraries - See Section 7-2

One special door leads to a fire faerie statue, who asks for a prophecy - See Section 9

Some of the traps turn your neopet into a pile of sand. Don't panic, it only lasted an hour

To see all of the doors, see Section 7-5

You also find your mysterious tablet pieces in the temple - See Section 8

Back to Table of Contents.

1: Traps
Here are the various traps. If you fell into a trap, you could re-enter the temple after one hour.

The door slams shut behind you and poison gas begins to fill the room! You try to escape, but after a few moments you find yourself... falling... unconscious... maybe... you should... take... a nap...

The door slams shut behind you and water begins to pour from hidden alcoves! It looks like you're going to have to spend some time bailing your way out of here...

The door slams shut behind you and you hear a shuffling noise. Out of the dark comes an enormous blob of jelly! It looks like it's devoured greater adventurers than you. You hope you can keep out of its grasp until you figure a way out of here...

The door slams shut behind you and a trap door opens below your feet! You find yourself in a deep pit, dangling from a rope mere inches above sharp metal spikes. It's going to take you a while to climb out of here.

The door slams shut behind you and the walls begin to move toward you! It's going to take all your strength to hold them off until the mechanism is disabled..

The door slams behind you and you see a riddle inscribed on the opposite wall. It's very intriguing. You decide to spend a while to figure it out....

The door slams shut behind you. Suddenly, the ceiling collapses and you are buried in a pile of sand! It's going to take you a while to dig your way out.
(This trap turns your pet into a pile of sand for an hour, see below for more pictures)

2: Libraries

These doors led to various libraries, where you are allowed to choose a scroll to read. Once you have read a scroll, you cannot return to the temple for 12 hours.

The scrolls in the libraries were the same for everyone. Thanks to cruentus for confirming this with many people. The scrolls are:
River door:
Fer, Djo, Tep, Kar (all these are 'water' related scrolls)
Maze: Ben, Lat, Saf, Nem (all these are 'path' related scrolls)
Constellation: Ra, Set, Ahn, Kha (all these are 'sky' related scrolls)

SECTION 8: The Mysterious Tablet

The fortune teller started to give our hints to finding the pieces of the mysterious tablet. Each hint led to an area of neopia, and there you would gain a clue to a location in the temple of 1000 tombs to find the piece. Here are the steps in full:

Click them in exactly the order they appear on your tablet, working left to right. You will then translate the tablet and obtain the avatar!

There are 27 different prophecies, but they all mean the same thing. Mine says:
Prince Jazan will steal away with the city of Sakhmet

SECTION 9: Finding the Fire Faerie Statue
Behind one of the many doors in your temple was a fire faerie statue. A few people found her at random, but there was a way to guarentee discovery. Look at the riddle in the sand outside of the temple. You had decipher it using this guide (thanks to scattergirl):

Blinding radiance of the sun=yellow
Thunderous clouds obscuring the sky=black
The waking dawn on the dunes=red
Banks of the mighty river=green
Kingdom of the lightgiver=blue
Bright guardian of the night=silver

a humble portal of stone=rectangle
Mouth of the river=triangle
The aspect of a star=pentagon
Window into the soul=oval
Once you had deciphered the riddle, you knew the colour and shape of the door you are looking for. However, you will still then need to find out which of those shape and color doors it is.

Once you find the door, go into it! If you have chosen the right one, you will discover the fire faerie:

The door slams shut behind you! A statue of Nuria, the fire faerie, stands in the center of the room. A plaque on its base reads:
Whosoever shall speak the prophecy here, shall be rewarded with treasures beyond compare

You are then given the opportunity to speak to her. You should tell her the translated prophecy from your mysterious tablet. Everyone's is different though, so you can't just copy someone elses.

What happens is really disapointing though lol...

You speak the words of the prophecy to the statue:

The prince of Qasala will cause the disappearance of the desert capital

Suddenly a bright light shines from above...

It's opening!

A secret panel on the base of the statue slowly begins to open...

A silver glow issues forth from the compartment behind the panel...

Something seems to be moving inside the compartment...

What could it be? It's beginning to move closer...

You can't make out the shape... the light is too bright...

ALL OF A SUDDEN...

OH NO! PILE OF SCARABS!!

You can then return to the fire faerie straight away. To get away from her, say the wrong thing. You will then be locked out of the temple for 30 minutes.

SECTION 10: Building the Scroll Repository

Originally, the scroll repository was under construction. Upon approaching it, you were stopped by some guards.

HALT!

Two hefty guards block you at the access gate to the Scroll Repository. "Only licensed contractors are allowed into the Repository site!" one of them bellows. "What's your business here?

Maybe you should say something...

On the base of your fire faerie statue was a symbol.

You then had to say the following, depending on what symbol was on your fire faerie

You must have read the corrisponding scroll in the temple for the correct option to show.

1: Hauling Sand

The Scroll Repository was partially buried by a freak sandstorm. The engineering crew needs your help to dig it out!

You! Get to work!

The foreman glares at you. "Well what are you just standing around for? Get to digging! That pyramid's not gonna unbury itself!" He hefts his cudgel and gives you an expectant look.

You then had the option to grab a handful of sand

You carry a handful of sand away from the scroll repository.

You may also win something...

While excavating the handful of sand, you also found something else!

Wow, they sure built the repository way out in the middle of nowhere! It's going to take you a while to carry the sand back to civilization.

The length of time it took to get back into the scroll repository varied between 30 minutes and 3 hours.

As we kept digging, the image of the pyramid changes, so it looks like we're getting somewhere.

On the 26th September, the repository was uncovered.

The scroll repository has been completely uncovered. It stands gleaming in the sun. But... there doesn't seem to be any way inside. It looks like the engineers forgot to leave empty space for the scrolls!

Wow! The repository was buried under 104,034 handfuls of sand!

You! Take a 15 minute break!

The foreman actually grins for once. "Looks like we got the thing uncovered!" But the grin quickly turns to a scowl. "Too bad them stupid engineers didn't build the thing right in the first place. There ain't no space inside for scrolls! What kinda scroll repository do ya call that?!"

Back to Table of Contents.

2: Hauling Blocks
On the 28th September it changed yet again...

Now that the scroll repository is no longer buried by sand, the engineers in charge of the project have another problem -- when they built the pyramid, they didn't leave any space inside for the scrolls! The next phase of the project is to clear out rooms and corridors inside the repository, to make room for the scrolls.

You! Get to work!

The foreman jabs his finger toward the scroll repository pyramid. "Looks like you're gonna be haulin' blocks now. Five to a block! And don't let me catch you slackin', we gotta get this pyramid built fast." He taps his cudgel menacingly.

You had to click on the map to move around. You could only move onto squares that are cleared (grey) and within line-of-sight. If you wanted to try to haul one of the blocks out of the repository, you needed to be standing next to it (not diagonally!) and click on it.

Touch the wrong block and...

WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING!!

The foreman runs over and thwacks you with his cudgel. "Don't touch that! That's a structural block! You pull that out, this whole place might collapse on us. Now get back to work!"

You then could go straight back in and try again.

Once you found a non-structural block, it had a symbol like this.

If there were less than five people pushing it, you could attempt to as well. You clicked the "Empty Spot". Then you had to wait until there are five people pushing it.

You had to choose a block with your fire faerie symbol

If you choose the wrong block...

WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING!!

The foreman rushes over, waving his cudgel at you. "Hey! I'm trying to keep things organized here, and you're off trying to push blocks that you aren't supposed to!" He pushes you away from the block. "Go sit over in the corner, and stop messing up my planning!"

You were then be kept out of the repository for 30 minutes.

If you chose the right block, then once there are enough people...

That was tough work!
Hooray! The block has been successfully removed.
Something has happened!
Something falls out from behind the block as it's moved...
((Insert random prize here))
But there's five of you... who will get the item?

The foreman stomps over when he sees you all trying to grab it.
HEY! What's going on here??
The foreman snatches the ((Random Prize)) away from you. "Well, lookee what we found. Can't have you five fighting over it! So I'll let you roll this hundred- sided die and see who gets it.

He then rolled dice to see who won the prize.

I better not see you working!

You're still tired from moving that last block. You need to wait a little while before you'll have the energy to move another one!

You then had to wait one hour to recover.

Back to Table of Contents.

3: Moving Furniture

The scroll repository has had 4,330 blocks removed! But now the inside is nothing but bare stone and rock.

Whew! That was a lot of blocks!

The foreman wipes his brow. "Keepin' all those pets organized was some mighty tough work. I can't believe how many of them just wanted to push and pull blocks at random, or worse yet, try to collapse the pyramid by moving structural blocks!" He shakes his head. "But now it's just a bunch of empty rooms and corridors! Where are they gonna put all the scrolls? Dump 'em in piles?" He stomps away, muttering angrily.

In a tent to one side of the encampment, you see some activity. Go check it out.

Completed furniture:

Stand lamps: 205
Scroll racks: 891
Benches: 64
Tables: 34

At 1.20pm NST on the 29th September, they started making furniture.

A team of Rukis hammers, chisels, and carves the giant stone blocks into various pieces of furniture.

The eldest Ruki notices you enter. "Hullo! Come to see what kinda furniture we're making, eh?" He points at one of the stone blocks in the middle of the tent. "You can take a look at our progress if ya like. You'd best get familiar with this stuff. You're gonna be the one carrying it inside when we're done!"

On the 4th October, they stopped building...

The furniture sits in haphazard piles, all sanded and painted. The Rukis relax on some extra benches, taking a break after all their hard work. The eldest Ruki sees you and waves. "Well, we're finally done with all the furniture! Even had some extras. Ah, but before you can put the furniture into the repository, the interior decorator is figuring out where everything goes. Putting down chalk outlines, so I hear." He leans back and sighs. "This oughta be the easy part!"

On the 8th October, they started letting us move furniture... you had to follow these steps: (thank you OLDPD)

1. Go to the Ruki's and pick a piece of furniture
2. Go the the repository
3. Talk to the decorator by clicking on his square and choosing "talk to interior decorator". He moves every hour. Check the neoboards for the latest location.

4. The decorator will tell you what floor to put your furniture on, go to that floor
5. Place your furniture in the proper spot.
stand lamp=circle
table=square
bench=rectangle
scroll rack=bumped rectangle

6. You can place a piece of furniture directly onto the bold marks. The blurred marks you may have to keep clicking... and if you get a message saying the furniture has been stolen then it may take a while.

7. Head back to the exit and repeat

Back to Table of Contents.

SECTION 11: Inside the Scroll Repository
1: Looking Around
On 13th October, the furniture moving finished:

The scroll repository is now fully furnished. All that remains is to stock it with scrolls. Thankfully, there's a staff of expert librarians on hand to put all the scrolls into the right positions.

We finally outdid those thieves!

The foreman looks up at the gleaming scroll repository pyramid. "Looks like we managed to keep ahead of those thieves -- just barely, though. Who knows what they wanted with all that furniture? I bet it'll show up on the black market soon." He shakes his head. "Well, the construction's all done. Guess that means I'm out of a job." He sighs, sits in the corner, and sulks.

21st October, the scroll repository opened again (at this point anyone could come in, as there were no guards)

The scroll repository is built, furnished, stocked, and open for business! Head on inside and see what there is to read.

Go inside and you could read a scroll from one of the racks which look like this

What an interesting scroll.
Your pet reads the scroll and hopefully learns something!

There are scrolls for each symbol. Each symbol had 35 different scrolls, made from a combination of seven colours and five sizes. Here is one set (Nem):

On the 31st October, they installed a Card Catalog. This was located right next to the entrance.

Card Catalog Room

When you clicked on one of the three coloured racks, you got a listing like this:

Before you could work out which scrolls to need, you needed to get your Useless Crystal and find your lights. See the next sections.

2: Getting The Useless Crystal
As well as reading scrolls, you could also find the Yurble Foreman on the second floor, row 20, column 5. If you had been scarab'd by the fire faerie, you could do a quest for him.

Chef icon:

I'll be making lunch as soon as I get some supplies!

The chef, who looks very familiar, glances at you as you enter. "Well, fancy meeting you here. Turns out they needed a chef for the cafeteria here, and as I was out of a job, they hired me on!" He twirls his rolling pin. "Unfortunately, I ain't gotten any shipments of food yet, so I can't make anything. Just some mislabeled boxes." He sighs. "This job is boring."

The chef scratches his ear. "Say, I heard something about you surviving an attack by a pile of scarabs. Boy, adventuring sounds like a good time. But I've been too busy working to take a vacation. I sure would like a souvenir from one of those, you know, exotic locales." He shakes his head and swings his rolling pin around absently.

Once you'd talked to him, you could go to the Gift Shop of 1000 Trinkets:

Yeah... we have many exciting items.

The bored gift shop owner looks at you with glum eyes. "I mean, we don't have any actual items right now. Business has been kind of slow. I'm not really sure why." She sighs.

The gift shop owner perks up. "You know, there is one thing I have... but I couldn't just give it away. I'd do a trade, though. If you can bring me some black smoke, that would be really cool. Here, I'll even give you this little vial I had lying around. Let me know if you find some!"

Empty Vial
The gift shop could be accessed by clicking on the right arch on the front of the temple image on the temple of 1000 tombs page.

You then had to equip the vial and fight the Spirit of the Ruins, use the vial on him and end the fight (you did not have to win), and then Unequip the Smokey Vial

Then go back to the gift shop...

The gift shop owner grins as you enter. "I knew you could get it! I don't know how I knew, or where you got it, and I don't really want to know, because, well, I don't really care. But thanks! Oh, here's the souvenir I said you could have." She takes the vial and gives you the souvenir. "Thanks again." She stares raptly at the vial of black smoke.

Temple of 1,000 Tombs Souvenir T-Shirt (its description is "I MAPPED THE TEMPLE OF 1,000 TOMBS AND ALL I GOT WAS THIS LOUSY T-SHIRT" lol)

Then talk to the chef again...

Wow!" the chef exlaims as you hand him the souvenir. "Thanks so much! I never woulda been able to get one of these, I'm so busy working. Here, let me give you something in exchange." He rummages in a box at his feet. "This box was supposed to be a shipment of cakes, but they got mixed up somehow and sent me these useless crystals." He hands one to you.

3: Coloured Lights
Once you had your useless crystal, you could go all the way up to the top floor of the repository. If you went into the dead end on the right and walk into the wall, you would find a secret staircase. Keep going, and going, and going, and eventually you will find a hidden basement.

If you clicked on the top of the dome of the palace, you could put your Useless Crystal into place. This picture shows you you had to click.

Now as you can see, that didn't do anything. What you needed to do wass keep going back to the page every half hour or so. Eventually, you got a stream of light shining down from the crack in the ceiling. That is when you needed to put the crystal in.
Once you had put the crystal in when the light is shining, little colours appeared on the wall. Everyones colours appeared in different orders.

Back to Table of Contents.

4: Reading Scrolls
Once you had your lights, you needed to overlay that information onto your Mysterious Tablet. There were 16 colours (including four blanks)... match them up in order with the symbol on your Mysterious Tablet. Now, if you clicked on the Useless Crystal in your inventory, on the enhanced picture you would see there were three coloured dots at the top - a red, a yellow and a blue.

Then you had to go to the card catalogues at the entrance and read the one that matches the first colour on your useless crystal (in my case red). Match it up with all of the symbols that are that colour on your mysterious tablet.

Then you had to go off and read those scrolls in the order they appear on the card catalogue. For instance, the first one I looked for was a red Djo (reeds) scroll in the Ruki Population Surveys area, and the second one I was looking for was the red trident scroll in The Stacks, Eastern Archives area. If one scroll appeared twice, you just had to read it twice.

Once you had read all four of those, you had torepeat with the second colour, and then with the third. Once you had done all that, the last scroll you read was translated.

Your pet deciphers the scroll!

A sharp eye holds the next step.

5: Getting The Second Useless Crystal
Thanks to kittishkatt for discovering this:

You then went to the Temple of 1000 Tombs, and found a door that led to a spike trap. On the picture was be a clickable link, that was where you found the next Useless Crystal.

After you had found the second crystal, you had to go back to the secret basement. If there was light, insert the new crystal.

Then you had to down your new colours, and go back to the card catalogue.

Back to Table of Contents.

6: Reading Scrolls - Take Two!
So now you had your second set of colours, you had to draw them onto your tablet like you did with the first set. Now you took out all of the reds, yellows and blues, and then you read the tablet backwards. To work out the colours, you looked at this chart:

Your Colour You need to read
Orange Yellow, Red and Orange
Green Yellow, Blue and Green
Purple Red, Blue and Purple

Now you just needed to work out which order to read them. Take a look at the card catalogues (they had changed!)

You read the reds, blues and yellows in the same order that the catalogues were. So, for my orange Lat symbol, I read a red scroll, then a yellow scroll, then finally an orange scroll.

Then you just need to work out where the scrolls were. For your red, blue and yellow scrolls, you just used the card catalogues like you did before. When you read the second of the two scrolls, you were be given a location. This was the location of the third (orange, green or purple) scroll.

So... once you'd read all three of the scrolls from that symbol, you moved onto the next symbol! Yes thats right, 24 scrolls in total!

Back to Table of Contents.

7: Getting The Third Useless Crystal
Once you had read all 24 scrolls, you got the next clue.

This clue does not exist

You went back to the temple of 1000 tombs, and found a jelly blob! You then dlicked the bone and you were then be rewarded with a THIRD Useless Crystal!

Back to Table of Contents.

8: Reading Scrolls - Take Three!
This time, your light was exactly the same - so you didn't need to see it. First, you took all of the colours that you gained from the second crystal, and put them onto the tablet as before. So this time, you could ignore all the colours. So cross them all out. You were only interested in the blank spaces. You needed to read all of the scrolls (from left to right, top to bottom) for your blank symbols in order to get the location of the white scroll for that symbol.

For each of the blanks you had to read a matching blue, red AND yellow scroll. Now at the time, we thought it was random which order to read these in. It wasn't until the solution came out that we learnt the truth.

Apparently the chef got bored and started to paint his toenails. You were supposed to read the scrolls in the order that his toenails were painted, so in this case blue, yellow and then red. This revealed the location of the white scroll. Read a white scroll that matches your symbol. You could then move on to the next blank symbol (and the chef's toenails would have changed). However, it seems almost no- one discovered this, and it was only a timesaver. It was perfectly possible to read the scrolls at random and move on.

9: Getting The Fourth Useless Crystal
Once you had read all the scrolls, you got the next clue.

The solution to the puzzle is thus..." followed by a number of strange diagrams and figures. Somehow, it all makes sense.

The hint for getting your fourth crystal directed you to a riddle trap room. You needed to click on the alien in the lower left corner.

Back to Table of Contents.

10: Getting The Mysterious Scroll
You then had to take the fourth and final crystal to the secret basement again, and insert it when your light came on...

Then click the hole!

Inside the chamber, you see a scroll. Your pet picks it up and reads it.
I can't make heads or tails of this!
Perhaps you should find someone to show this scroll to.

Now you had to take the scroll to the fortune teller!

The fortune teller listens as you tell her the tale of finding the mystery scroll in the map room of the scroll repository. "Amazing! No wonder those architects were so tight-lipped about what they were building. Let met take a look at that scroll." You hand it to her. "Hmm... yes... I see... Ah ha! Of course! This is an ancient dialect of Sakhmetian, and I think I recognize it. I believe it says... well, there's a lot of nonsense up front, but finally is says, "The curse of Jazan will make Sakhmet disappear," which is an awful lot like that prophecy you found before. But then it continues: "Jazan must marry a true princess of Qasala to break the curse." That explains why he wanted to marry Amira, but... she's not a Qasalan princess. Is she?" The fortune teller looks confused. "I wonder how we'll pull that off." She hands the scroll back to you.

SECTION 12: Translating the tablet... again!
Later when you returned to the fortune teller with your Mysterious Scroll, she also said:

Wait a moment," she calls out to you. "Sakhmet has returned, and Jazan married that Ixi girl, but... something's not right about all this. Let me see that scroll again." The fortune teller examines it again. Then she turns it upside down. "Of course! Stupid me, I was reading it backward. It was cleverly written to be readable both ways. Ah! See? In this orientation, it serves as... some kind of translation guide. I'm not sure how, exactly, but maybe you can make use of it. You can try out translating that old mysterious tablet of yours." She hands the scroll back.

It was essentially just like codebreaker or time tunnel. Try and guess where the pieces go, then hit translate. At the top you will get some dots. A white dot means that you've got the right piece in the right place, and a black dot means you've got the right piece in the wrong place. But, you don't know what dot matches what symbol. If you aren't very good at those logic puzzles, just use trial and error.

Right. Now remember when you translated your tablet the first time you clicked symbols in the comic? Well thats what you had to do again using the new symbols. Here are the locations:

Chapter 12 Page 1

Chapter 12 Page 2

Chapter 12 Page 3

Chapter 12 Page 4

Chapter 13 Page 1

Chapter 13 Page 3

Chapter 13 Page 4

Chapter 13 Page 4

Chapter 14 Page 1

Chapter 14 Page 2

Chapter 14 Page 3

Chapter 14 Page 4

There were two ways to translate it... One is to do it forwards, just like you did first time. It was optional, but funny! Once you had done this you were taken back to the new tablet, and your prophecy will be translated again.

You've finally deciphered the meaning of the tablet. It reads:
The golden eye shines truth upon those who would do evil

When you took your new prophecy to Nuria... you got quite a surprise!

The second way (and the way you needed to do it in order to proceed) was to click the same symbols as the comic again, but this time in reverse order. Your tablet was translated yet again.

You've finally deciphered the true meaning of the tablet. It reads:
The father of the prince will destroy the great desert

You then took the third and final prophecy to Nuria. After a lot of scrolling, you got to pick a weapon!

Scimitar of Eternal Dawn Mace of Righteous Flame Spear of Infinite Wisdom

You could pick any, they were all the same. The weapon broke when you took it, but it didn't matter. You could still use the broken weapon.

Scimitar of Eternal Dawn Mace of Righteous Flame Spear of Infinite Wisdom

Now it was time to defeat Razul! You could fight him once with the weapon, and it would reduce him to 0 hp. Once you had done that, you could not fight Razul again.

That was the final step to the puzzle!
