Your feet sink into the ground with each step you take, and the sound of the mud squishing beneath your weight makes you gag. You cross your arms in disgust but continue forward. You're lost and figure the only way out is to keep on going. Your brow is lined with beads of sweat, though the suns rays aren't strong enough to pierce the thick layer of fog that seemed to appear out of no where.
.. What was that? You freeze, listening intently.
... There it is again.
"Hello?", you call out softly, "Is there anyone...anything there?"
The hair on the back of your neck stands up as your throat tightens with anxiety. Your breathing slows down and your heart jumps into your throat. There had to be something... "What are you doing way out here?"
You jump and turn around, taking a few steps back from the tiny fox-like creature. "What? Who are you?", you reply nervously.
The creature laughs softly, "No reason to fear. I don't bite." She nods gently and walks to your side. You're a bit cautious, she might be up to something...
This way...", she says softly, with a calm smile, "I'll show you out of my swamp"

You stand silent for a moment, trying to determine if this female is friendly or not. Well, if she wanted to kill you she could have done it easily while your back was turned. You begin to relax and feel suddenly curious about the tiny creature. "So, who are you??"...

You stand silently for a moment, taking in the things that she told you. You still had a few questions, this creature seemed to be quite interesting. "So, can you tell me about your family?
Micomay-- My sister. We were very close at one point, but somewhere along the line she snapped. I mean, she went insane. She thinks I owe her some "unpaid debt", but she's crazy... but, she is powerful and I must admit, she scares me sometimes.
Rionashi-- My brother and best friend. He's growing quite old as of late, I think his curse is finally taking it's toll on his body. Poor guy... I wish he could come live in the swamp with me, I'd take care of him...
Cane-- My other brother, younger than I, but larger. He worked for Micomay for quite a while, he's just a silly, power hungry pup. I actually don't know where he is now... I suppose Micomay ran him off...

Do you have any friends?", you ask cheerfully. Liin smiles and nods, "I do. Sadly, not as many as I used to...
Rose-- Ah, one of my very best friends. I've known her for quite some time now and she has always been a sweetheart. Unfortunately, I haven't seen her in a while.
Narco-- Dear, Narco. I admit, when I first met him I didn't like him very much. He's changed so much since then and has captured my heart.
Nedlexx-- We used to be so very close when we were younger, then he left. I recently met up with him again and he has changed so much... I only hope that he still has a heart somewhere...

What are you doing out here anyway?", you ask. You're very relaxed with Liiniia, she has a pleasant vibe about her and all of your past fears have been erased by her smile.

The talk of her past seems to upset her. "Uh, are you in love?", you blurt out, hoping to cheer her up a little bit.
Narco is the only one I can see myself with. I had been heart broken before I met him and he just seemed to make all my pain vanish. He loves me for who I am and I couldn't ask for anything more. He's the first person I see when I wake up and the last person I see when I fall asleep... And he's the only one I dream about...
**...Magic of the Maurai Lupes...**
Liiniia, as lovable and gentle-natured as she is, is a demon. She is part of an ancient tribe of dual-tailed fox-like lupes from the island of Maurai. Each lupe has a very distinct coat pattern due to a color mutation on the genes. No two Maurai lupes have the same coat, it's genetically impossible.
What is possible, however, is magic. In the DNA of the Maurai lupes is a certain strand which holds different magical abilities. Power over the water element, telekinesis, even shape-shifting. Lupes with this shape-shifting ability have virtually no control over it. When they feel extreme states of emotion, the shape shifting process begins and the tiny creatures transform into horrible beasts. They remain in this state until they either calm down, or pass out due to the immense amount of energy the demon form consumes.
In some cases, these lupes are gifted with an intense array of magical abilities. Liiniia and her sister are very gifted in the magical arts. Liiniia can control nearly anything she pleases using only her mind. She could very well be controlling the rhythm of your heart beat and you wouldn't know the difference. Luckily for all of us, she only uses her magic when she absolutely needs to, and is most often found healing injured creatures.
Unfortunately, the island was destroyed, along with many of the Maurai Lupes. In the world today there are only 3 known Maurai Lupes in existence. Research has been put on hold for the time being. Perhaps there are more of them hiding, waiting for a more perfect world.

Liiiniia smiles warmly as you reach the end of the swamp. the ground beneath your feet already feels firmer, and you can't help but feel a sense of joy. At first the swamp seemed scary, but as the sun set behind a row of trees in the distance it somehow became beautiful.
You turn to face Liiniia and smile. She nods slowly. "Go on home. It's been a rather long day", she spoke softly, "If you ever want to come back, I'm always around".
You gently pat your new friend on the head and turn to leave. You stop suddenly as something shimmered in front of you. Bending down to inspect it, you find a small golden charm. Turning it over in your hands slowly, you find a small tag attached. It reads: "If you ever want to return, simply touch this charm. You will find yourself back in the swamp in no time. With love, Liiniiia
With a grin, you tuck the charm into your pocket and head home.
