Intro

It was October 21st and it has been raining for almost a month. This was all happening in the towns of Summerson, Carlilly, Ackerson, Charles, and Opal, all cities of Calvino Island. Calvino Island was known to be dry and warm. However on October 1st huge storm clouds decided to take a nice long nap above Calvino Island. Calvino Island was named after Corey Calvino and the five towns were named after friends and family. Each town was the same: three schools (elementary, middle and high school), two churches, and one park. One family in Summerson was suffering from the endless rain. Their last name was Omega and there were two of them. There was Aquila which means Eagle and her mother Pamela. The Omegas lived in a mobile home in Sunny Side Trailer Park. They went to Carina Baptist Church, where Pamela was a singer. They had a dog named Poppy and a cat name Sox. Both were given as gifts that couldn't be refused. Most families were leaving, trying to find higher and safer ground. But the Omegas couldn't leave because they had no where to go. Aquila had no friends and her mother was ignored. They were very lonely, sad, and full of fear. Pamela was looking for a paying job and Aquila was looking for any summer work. Aquila helped Ms. Jonson with feeding her pets and watering the plants. She also helped Mr. Chen with gardening and remodeling. But most of all she helped her mother with housecleaning, cooking, and everything else. Her dad, Adam, a very rich man left her and her mother when she was seven and now she is twelve. Now with the worst crawling towards them, they have nothing.

Chapter 1: What will We Do?

Mom?" Aquila asked her mother. "Yes, dear" she whispered with a sigh. "Pretty soon we will need a boat to get around town. Pretty soon we won't be able to get out the door. Pretty soon we'll be underwater! Pretty soon…." "Aquila! Gosh, you are such a chatterbox!" It was true. Aquila was known to be a talkative girl. "Sorry Mom. I am a little worried. What will we do when the water is at our doorstep?" "I am still thinking. The Jackson family has an extra boat. We could use that." "I guess so. Will we be able to take Poppy and Sox?" "Relax child. Every thing will work out one way or another." Aquila didn't like the sound of that. What if it was the wrong way? Aquila was known to also be a girl of worry. Aquila was a spitting image of her mother but they had different personalities. Both girls had bright brown hair and sparkly blue eyes. "Mom?-" Aquila said rather loudly. "Yes." Her mother answered. "Can you tell me about my sister Bailey?" A worried face appeared on Pamela's face. "How… how did you know?" "I heard you talking about her to Ms. Jonson." "Well…she was older. Eight years to be right. Her full name was Bailey Marie Omega. She ran away when she was thirteen." "Why?" "She thought the town was the wrong place. She said she felt alone. Your sister was a great girl. Just like you to be right. But her hair was red like your fathers. When she left the letter on her bed we thought it was a joke. She always seemed so happy. She was always crushing on Luke Luther. When we called her, her phone was off with a terrible voicemail. 'I guess this is the last time you will ever hear my voice. I have decided to run away. I don't belong in my old home with my family. DON'T even come looking for me because you will never find me! Good Bye!' "She cried between ever word. Anyway we went looking for her. Sadly we had no luck. The reason we were talking about Bailey is because the police called and said they think they found her body. However they are not sure. Her face, hands, and feet were burned." "WHAT!! Do you think she was murdered? Where is Luke Luther?" "He lives in the red trailer in the back of the park." Aquila got up and rushed to the faded red trailer near the fence. Most people said it was haunted or forbidden. Aquila never believed in these stories. Aquila walked up the chipped doorstep and knocked on the door. A young man opened it as soon as Aquila's hand touched the metal. "Yes. Oh, hello. What do you want?" he asked in a low voice. "Well I need to talk to you 'bout my sister Bailey." "Bailey? Bailey Omega?" "Yes, sir." "Wow, I haven't seen her in years." "I was wondering if you knew why she ran away." "Come inside. Quickly." Aquila walked into what looked like the living room. There was two doors to the right and one to the left. "Your sister Bailey was an angel. I would do anything for her. The day before she ran away, she came to me." "Why?" "She said she wanted to talk. When she got here her face was tear dried. We sat in my bedroom talking for what seemed like hours." "What did you talk about?" "Our relationship. Before she left she said that she would miss me and loved me. I thought she was just playing. You know how people do. But then your mum came to me asking me where she was the next day." "Did you ever hear from her again?" "Yes. I got short letters every four months. Each one saying how sorry she was and that she missed me and how happy she would be if I were with her. But the last letter I got was a year ago." "Do you know why she left?" "No." BANG! There was a clash of lighting and a rumble of thunder. "Oh No! I better be going home." "No, its too dangerous. Wait. Who is that?" "It's Jerald Jorge. He's a health inspector. This is the worst time to see if our place is healthy." Mr. Jorge was in a boat. He seemed to be heading towards Aquila's trailer. Oh No! What if he says we have to leave! What will we do? Aquila thought to herself.

Chapter 2: Moving to Nowhere

Hello Pamela." "Hello Jerald. Why have you come?" "I have come to warn you. Well more like to move you." "Why?" "This town is no longer safe. I had to use my boat to come to your house. Isn't it a sign?" "No. We are fine Jerald. When the water is covering our doorstep… we will leave." "Pam. The water is right under the doorstep. By the way... where's Aquila?" "She's at Mr. Luther's trailer. She is needing some information." "About What?" "Something. It is not your concern." "I am a health inspector. I have inspected his trailer and it is…ugh… out of shape." "Mr. Luther is perfectly fine. Don't worry about Aquila or me. When the time has come we will leave. Now you must go." Mr. Jorge ran out the door, on to the doorstep and in to the boat. Pamela found the boat the Jackson family let them borrow and headed towards where Aquila and Luke were talking. "Hello Luke. Aquila." "Hey Mom. Why was he there?" Aquila answered. "He gave us a warning. He said we have to move. Calvino Island has gone under! What a phony." "Mom, that is true. Where are we moving?" "We are moving to nowhere." "Mom we have to go! I don't want to die!" "I mean moving to nowhere right now. For now we will let the water take us to where it wants to go." "Mr. Luther" "Miss Omega" The Omegas ran out the door and into the medium size boat. They paddled towards home and rushed inside. Some thing started to be damp. "Aquila! Hurry! Grab blankets, food, flashlights, batteries, coats, clothes, Poppy, Sox, the pillows, tarps and anything you need!" Aquila and Pamela rushed around grabbing things and yelling at each other. "Mom" "Hurry!!" "Where do I…" "The boat!" "How many…" "'Pack light!" By the time everything was in, the water was halfway up the door. Pamela, Aquila, Sox and Poppy jumped out the window and into the boat. They headed towards Luke, who was doing what Aquila and her mother were doing five minutes ago. "Mom there is a extra boat! There, by Ms. O'Neal's trailer!" "Okay will get Luke and then grab the boat and tie the three boats together. We can use the two boats for sleeping and the other for our supplies. Oh Luke! Hurry! It is getting closer to that window!" "I heard you and think that is a great plan." Luke muttered as he threw himself and the rest of his stuff in to the boat. He tied the two boats together and helped paddle to Ms. O'Neal's boat. When they reached it he threw it behind his boat and tied them together. Aquila and her mother got the poles up and settled into their holes. They tied tarps to them as to make a roof. After all this was done they threw themselves on the floor of the boat. "Every once in awhile we will have to shake the water off the top" Pamela said with a smirk. Luke and Aquila answered with a nod. ~ ~ ~ ~ Aquila awoke to the splashing of the boat. She looked around with tired eyes. She found tarps surrounding the boat as walls and near the top of the chain of boats was an opening. She looked up and gasped. The water was making a pool on the traps. She reached up and hit four times to get all of the water off. She went to the end where Luke's boat met with The Omega's and pushed the tarp over. She found a board as to make a bridge. She carefully stepped over it into Luke's boat. She hit the trap four times and moved to the last boat, where she found the supplies, Poppy and Sox. Poppy and Sox looked up as she entered. She hit the tarp four times and sat down between Poppy and Sox. Poppy laid her head down on Aquila's lap. Her stomach gave a soft roar. She reached into the trunk that had all the food and made her self a sandwich. She only ate half because their food was limited.
