The Veridian Jungle

The heat and humidity of the jungle makes the trip almost unbearable as you push through the lush flora and towering trees. You've been walking for what feels like hours, and your almost sure you've passed that tree several times already. You're almost ready to call it quits and risk taking a nap beneath the canopy when a gleam of blue catches your eye. You can just barely see a lake through the thick tree branches- and what's this? A villa on the other side! You fight through to the clearing and trudge along towards the shelter, admiring the sparkling clear water as you pass it.

The villa is glaringly white in the bright sunlight, and the doors and windows are left wide open to let the air circulate through the house. Apparently these people aren't too concerned with the animals prowling the jungle. You step in and breathe a sigh of relief, stepping into the range of one of the fans currently blowing the hot air from the living room. Once you cool off a bit you go in search of the villa's owner, glancing into any open doors as you wander the lower level of the house. You finally come across a large room lined with windows, and a rustling further in the room draws you in.

Upon entering the room a solemn feeling overtakes you as you take a moment to really inspect your surroundings. The white of the room is all too sanitary and bleached clean to feel welcoming, and hidden behind several screens set up around the room and pieces of medical equipment. 'It's almost like an upscale hospital room...' You note with a grimace. A large platform bed stands in the center, encircled by large pillows and a sheer curtain hung from the ceiling. You jump when the rustling is heard again and focus on where it came from- the bed.

You can make out a figure laying in the bed through the gauze, and they just now seemed to have noticed you. A tan face turns and striking golden eyes lock with yours.

Oh? A visitor?

The young man sits up in his bed, giving you a warm smile that's oddly out of place with the setting. Silver hair cascades down his back and over his shoulders, and he beings playing with it as he watches you.

I am sorry, I did not expect any visitors today, otherwise I would have cleaned up a bit. He chuckles lightly. I am sorry...you are?

You give your name and explain your predicament, and hope you are not intruding. His smile returns.

Oh, not to worry. This sort of thing happens all the time. He explains, gently brushing the curtain away so that he may get out of bed. Your eyes widen as a red naga tail lowers to the ground in place of his feet. Hm? Oh, do not worry. I will not bite. He grins as he comes up beside you. Anyway, this way to the kitchen...

You follow him in silence, trying not to step on his tail as he leads you through the fine halls back to the kitchen area and fetches you a drink.

Statistics

Name: Lereinn Solus
Pronounced: (Lair-een Soul-us)
Nickname: Rein
Species: Red Hissi
Birthday: May 15
Zodiac: Taurus
Gender: Male
Age: 20
Eyes: Gold
Hair: Silver
Markings: Black tribal tattoos on his arms and torso.
Mannerisms: Speaks very clearly, pupils dilate when relaxed.

Appearance: Smooth silver hair and striking golden eyes are the most prominent features Rein possesses, well, aside from the long red naga tail that makes up the lower portion of his body. His wings are small and therefore useless in flight, but occasionally allow him to glide short distances. His darker tan complexion makes his lighter features stand out, and the black tribal tattoos that wrap around his upper torso make him a very distinguishable character. He wears warmer clothes out in public- a long hoodie and cap to fight against the cooler climate- or a deep red sash around his waist in warmer weather.

Personality: At first glance Rein could easily be stereotyped as the shady type, what with his appearance and his family's history in illegal pleasures. But in truth he was the sickly child who was always sheltered from the crimes that revolved around his family. He always appears relaxed and usually speaks in a smooth, calming voice, casting him as a master manipulator and voice of reason without effort. His illness made him a frail child, and even as an adult he tires easily as a result. Unfortunately, his mind seems warped by the medication he has been on since childhood, for he is often found alone, supposedly speaking to his long dead brother.

Abilities: ---

Likes: Sand, fruit, lighters.

Dislikes: Snow, needles, insects.

His Little Darling

Name: Charlie
Meaning: Free Man
Gender: Female
Color: Red

He pulls himself over to the edge of the bed and reaches down, scooping up a little creature hiding in the pet bed beside it while cooing at it affectionately.

This is Charlie, my little girl~

He nuzzles her head gently as she latches onto his arm.

Charlie is Rein's pampered and much adored Karren. Rein had only been a child when he found her, the incident nearly traumatizing both parties. He had been trying to climb trees with his brother when he fell and collided with the small sleeping animal. He was worried beyond belief that he had accidentally killed the poor creature, bawling in his mothers arms as his father carried it inside. She escaped the encounter with a broken wing, and Rein, feeling it was his responsibility, diligently nursed her back to health. By the time she was well enough to leave he had convinced his father to let him keep her as a pet. Charlie is very shy of strangers and loves to hide in Rein's jacket when they go out. She is almost completely blind and lacks sonar, so Rein takes care to bring her fruit during meal times- often feeding her himself.

Friends

Ni-ni

Dearest friend, what have they done to you? Please...do not leave me again...

Rein instantly recognized his old toy in it's new form even after being apart for so long. Their relationship is one of pleasant affection and companionship, but Rein occasionally forgets himself and carries her around like the doll she once was. Ah well, old habits die hard.

(Rein needs some friends...roleplay? :3)

Family

Father

My father is a very powerful man, but I see very little of him. Mother says he is very busy with his 'business', but I believe he is ashamed of me.

Rein's relationship with his father is very cut and dry: his father keeps him housed and cared for, and Rein stays out of his way. Rein had always wanted to be near his father and learn about the business, but he was always too sick to really learn anything about it. Then again, it might be better that he is left in the dark.

Mother

Mother...I feel bad that she has to worry so much. I see her the most, since she often comes to check up on me. She can be a frightening woman sometimes, but that is only to be expected with all the children she has raised.

Rein's mother is constantly fretting about her family since they are often found in such dangerous work. As much as she hated to do so, she chose to leave her most vulnerable baby behind in the safety of the villa while she tended to the greater part of her family in the city. Rein doesn't mind much, as she visits him often and babies him constantly. Her smothering can get annoying at times, so he is actually glad to be far away from her constant attention.

Azarialle

Big brother Az is always busy, so he does not get to see me often. Not that I mind- he is rather cruel to little brother and I, and his pet is always picking on Charlie.

There hasn't been a time when Az and Rein have gotten along. Rein grew up being viciously teased by his older brother, and as a result resents him for most of his childhood. Az rarely visits as he is far too busy with his spells and incantations to give his frail younger brother a second glance, which is fine with Rein, since he is still victim to his brothers harsh words.

Sycoraxiana

My dearest little brother Sycora isn't here anymore. He was bad, so they took him away from us. He still comes to visit me sometimes though, like the loving little brother he is.

Sycora was the closest thing Rein had to a friend when he was alive, and shared a common ground as they were often pushed out of the spotlight by their older brother. Unfortunately, after Sycora's 'accident', Rein drove into feverish denial. He believes his brother is still with him, and talks to him often. However, none of this has been proven.

Fein and Ema

The twins are...well, a handful to say the least. Mami and Papi can not see what we see in them- their true demons. Although I love the two dearly, I am rather glad they live so far away.

The twins are a mischievous duo who are relentless in their tricks. While pulling on a childish facade before their parents, their brothers can see what little monsters they can be. Rein is especially prone to their antics as he is the easiest to deceive. At one point the twins came into possession of an old toy of Rein's brought to life by their eldest brother, but Rein was quick to take it back once he saw their misuse of his old friend.

A Sheltered Life

You suddenly find it strange that such a hospitable host would strand himself out here in the middle of no where. He certainly doesn't seem reclusive, and the house looks far too lived in to be a vacation home. When you ask him about it he sighs.

I am here because of my health. I would much rather live in the city with my family, but I am afraid I would not be able to survive there.

You see, Rein's health became an issue shortly after he was born. He was once a healthy infant, clinging to his mother as she rested in the hospital bed after his birth while his father smiled proudly beside them, admiring the child who looked so much like himself. The doctors found him to be in good health and sent them home a few days later. That was when the trouble started.

Outside the clean sanctuary of the hospital Rein's health changed drastically. He was wrought with coughing fits, choking on the very air he breathed as he grew thinner and thinner by the day, unable to eat. His dusting of red hair, so much like his father's, began to fall out and gray as his pitiful cries echoed through the house. His parents, distraught with worry, rushed him back to the hospital. They soon learned that their baby couldn't survive in the city environment- the cold air was much to harsh on his tiny lungs. So the family set out for the vacation villa many miles away, where the air was warm and clean.

Rein slowly began to regain his health as he grew in the wonderful warm environment. His red hair never did grow back, and he would tire out far too easily, but he could at least breathe easily here. He was kept separate from his other siblings, just in case what he had was contagious, in a large window lined room that was scrubbed spotless everyday. He would play with his toys there, especially his beloved Ni-ni, and watch the other children play from his windows. Yes, he was lonely, but at least he was getting better, right?

His father began leaving for business trips more and more, and rarely came to see Rein in his room. Rein could hear his parents hissing to each other late at night, talking about him when they thought he was asleep. But he could hear them, even if he didn't want to. He would lie awake at night and listen to the words his father called him. A burden. A nuisance. There were others, but he probably shouldn't have been listening and tried to forget them. Eventually his father moved back to the city to work, and the other children wanted to go with him. His older brother began to resent Rein for breaking their family apart and began to call him the words his father used to call him when he thought he wasn't listening. Apparently Az could hear them too. So it was with a heavy heart that Rein's mother left him in the villa with the maids and his toys, hoping to keep their family together somehow by returning to the city with the rest of her children.

Rein has tried to visit the city from time to time, but he can never stay long for fear of starting the coughing fits again. He soon found it was better to stay away anyway, as only his mother and his younger brother Sycora were ever happy to see him. His father seemed to want nothing to do with him, and Az was just as cruel. So he settled himself into his life in the jungle, growing up in the huge empty villa alone.
