About - Urbanity
Dictionary definition: ur.ban.i.ty noun pl. ur.ban.i.ties
1. Refinement and elegance of manner;polished courtesy.
2. urbanities Courtesies; civilities.
Wikipedia says: In language, urbanity still connotes a smooth and literate style, free of barbarisms and other infelicities. In Antiquity, schools of rhetoric flourished only in the atmosphere of large cities, to which privileged students flocked from smaller cities in order to gain polish.

Guild Definition: Urbanity is a intermediate/advanced quad lupe roleplay guild that has been shaking up the lupe rping world since 2004. Art of all kinds also welcome to be displayed. If Urbanity is currently private and you wish to join, you have come to the right place. Welcome to Urbanity's guild webpage!

Rules & Guidelines
general
  • Stolen html/art is NOT tolerated. If found with stolen work you will be removed from the guild and reported.
  • Warnings will be given out if you are inactive and/or have never posted in the guild. If you have good reason for your absence or are on vacation you are allowed to stay. However if you do not reply to the warning, haven't logged into your account for an excessive amount of time (less leeway for secondary accounts) you will also be removed.
  • We appreciate active rpers, but what is a guild without other activities? If you want to see future contests and other activities get involved with the current ones.
  • Breaking of the rules signed when you joined Urbanity will result in your removal and/or ban from the guild, and possible report to TNT if the rule you broke involves stolen art/content.
rping
  • Urbanity is a normal lupe rping guild. No magical powers, god moding or transforming things.
  • Introductions are well and good, but sometimes members are already involved in other things, its up to you to get your character in the action so if your character is not approached right away, don't whine about it, have your character go up to someone else's.
  • Keep ooc posts to a minimum on the guild boards. If you must post an ooc message please include it in your ic post.
  • Please put a decent amount of thought and effort into your rp posts. Jelly beans; remember this for the second question in the application. It should be a good standard length and show your grammar and vocabulary strengths.
  • Do not use words you do not know the definition of, or use words improperly such that the real meaning is entirely lost. (IE: tassel, fae, brujo, femora, etc.) Please write at your own skill level! If you have to glance at a dictionary every few minutes to make sure the word you're using is in the correct context, you probably aren't using it correctly!
  • When multiple rps are going on please include which post or character you are replying to in the subject line of your post to avoid confusion. (IE: 'Fred//Alice')

How - to - Join

Now that you've gotten through all of the rules, here's how to join when Urbanity is private. Neomail this account, xurbanity, with the following information:
Is this your main account?: (yes/no; if not please state your main account)
Say what?: (read the rules)
Rp example: (A SHORT excerpt of your normal rping)
Pledge: I, guest, when accepted, promise to be active within the guild, join in on activities and rping. I will not spam the board or disrespect other members. I have no stolen art work or html on my account, or other accounts. I have read all of the guild rules, both general and rping, and promise to obey these set standards.
Understood and respectively signed, guest

WE ARE NOW CLOSED. PLEASE DO NOT APPLY! Pretty much everyone who can fill out the application properly and knows how to rp decently is accepted, so don't feel shy to drop a neomail to the guild account if the guild is private. Good luck! Be sure to unblock your guild invites. And yes, you may break up your application into two neomails if you must. But please, no more than two neomails, two is more than enough room for a well organized application. If you do not get an invite within one to two days you probably were not accepted.

Understand that if you join at the random times when Urbanity is public you may be warned and/or removed if your posts are not up to standards and you cannot follow the rules. We are 'strict' because we care about our standard of rping for our fellow rpers within the guild. :)

RP - Battle - Royale
  • One member is allowed to challenge another member to an 'rp off' if they think the other member is slacking, or just for fun. The challenger then neomails his/her opponent choice to the guild account.
  • The person challenged may choose to accept or reject. If they reject the offer they must submit a private reasoning of why they rejected and a rp sample to the guild account to stay within the guild. If they accept, the two 'battlers' must make two new, original posts to the following setup provided below.
  • The four posts from the two challengers are then posted on this page to be voted on by fellow guild members.
  • The 'winner' or person with most votes in their favor, will receive a trophy and prize from the guild account. The one with less votes will then be debated amongst the council to stay within the guild to to leave. If the opponent with less votes gets voted out by council they may reapply to join the guild at any time.
  • If there is some how a tie, council will debate a winner. If it then still remains a tie, both will receive their trophy and prizes.
  • Council members are not immune, guild members are welcome to challenge council members as well. (We don't want any slacking council members, now do we?)
  • If the challenge is just for fun, both participants will receive prizes.
  • 650 word count limit per entry! Use the word count feature in Word to check. (1300 words total for the two entries limitation)

Hierarchy
Stuck as a Vagrant and curious how to move up in the rankings? Well here's the low down. Ranks are earned by active members and are mainly based on number of good lengthy rp posts, this is an rp guild after all. The average number of posts a member needs before moving up is listed at the left along with the rank. Activity at the oekaki, suggesting new activities, and donations are also taken into account when ranking members. Council, however is not based on ranking/post count, but many other variables, as explained in the next section.

Guild Hierarchy
 Alpha: Owner/maintainer of the guild.
β Beta: Second in command, most active member, in charge of welcoming new members.
Gamma: Active and guild-oriented member who strives to improve the rping and general guild activities.
Delta: There is hardly any differences in the last two council ranks:
Epsilon: Both are active and loyal members who have both earned the right, and the votes from fellow members to be on council.
Psi: (100+ posts) Most loyal members, and most likely to be voted into council.
ξ Xi: (50-90 posts) An experienced rper and active member in the guild.
Sigma: (17-45 posts) An experienced rper and active member in the guild.
Ω Omega: (5-15 posts) New, but active and accepted into the guild.
Vagrant: (0-7 posts) New to the guild, perhaps not accepted yet.

Council
As mentioned in the guild hierarchy; council is not picked in the traditional sense of council applications, but in a more democratic method that is more fair to the entire guild instead of relying on the guild owner's biases or other inclinations. Council is mainly for administration purposes only, council ranks do not effect your character's status unless your choose to make it. Urbanity is in fact an rping guild without over-ruling alphas/betas in the plot, so do not apply for council if this is your only concern.
  • On the occasion of the council being open for applications instead of applying via the "apply for postion" link you must apply through neomail to the guild account with a speech directed towards your fellow guild members on why you deserve the position.
  • Do not address the speech as if you are speaking to the guild leader, think of your audience as your peers, and what you would like to see in a guild council member.
  • Applications may extend to as many neomails as you need to fit your speech, length is no issue, the final speeches will be posted on the guild page for voting.
  • Once at least five applications are received the guild members will read and vote on who they think deserves the position the most. The member with the most votes will then receive the position they applied for.
  • Inactive council members are cycled out every month or so. Allowing new members to apply for the position in their stead.

Don't steal. Whether it be art, layout, or even content, respect other's hard work and individuality. Even the format in which a page is presented holds a certain finger print of identity to the creator, which is easily recognizable to the owner as their own style. So if you do steal, you will be found. Try and create your own original ideas instead of leeching off of others, you will get much more respect for it. If you really want to use some of the coding/ideas/themes found on this page, or need help coding your own page you must ask permission. Thank you.
