CAU: Rock Around the Clock
What time is it?
CAU missions are back with new style: because we know two is always better than one. Introducing CAU:AM... and CAU:PM! The usual standard art prompts will fall under AM, while new writing prompts can be found under PM! (That's prose missions, in case you were wondering.) The prompt will change probably every other week or so as usual, and entries will be posted here. Just remember to neomail Star (silvermare200) with your completed entry!
Entering gets you practice and puts your work up where everyone can see it. ;D
New: It will also score you User points and possibly pet points as well!
Also New: Past mission entries are now going to be posted in a special CAU guild offsite gallery once their mission is over! By entering your work into our missions, you agree to have your work put up there, (with proper credit granted, of course), unless you clearly ask otherwise. Find the gallery at Crazy-Artists-United !
CAU: Art Missions
Good morning, good morning.
[-] Mission 2
Your Mission: Get active! This time around, we want you to draw your characters doing some sort of action. This means you don't just draw them posing-- draw them actually doing something that relates to the plot! It can be either from a story or roleplay you are doing with another person, or just made up based on which side they live on. The possibilities are endless!
Tips:
- Think of what your characters like to do. What's their occupation? Hobbies?
- Try drawing a scene from a roleplay or story.
- Also think about interactions with other characters! This may be a good chance to do a friend some fanart, or get practice drawing more than one of your characters.
- Not registered? No sweat! You can enter anyway. :) If you do choose to register, the points will count then.

CAU: Prose Missions
No sleep... Up all Night
[-] Mission 2
Your Mission: This mission ties in with the art mission in that it involves action. For this, write about your characters as they do something in Skyrim. Again, there are a lot of possibilites here.
Tips:
- Roleplaying with another person? Send in a segment of your choice, and both of you will get points!
- Again, interactions with other people are a good place to start.
- It's probably easiest to tack this on a petpage to turn it in.
- Make it longer than just a paragraph, but not a 10-page essay please!
Daiymeon let her tail tangle off the end of the wharf; letting the tips, damaged by heat, caress the gentle mist of saltwater trailing the roaring sea. Her wistful mind carefully picked its way through her memories, careful to avoid those that were barely healed. Unbeknownst to her, there was a figure from those memories was soon to reappear.
Dai had had a troubling past for someone so young; only 15, and tormented by problems beyond her years and capabilities to solve. She had lost all her family to fire, and she wasn't even there to protect them. She had a fight with her father, and stubbornly flew off into the night. She perched herself in a tall secluded cave that she often came to. She grabbed an apple from her supply chest there, you see, Dai had been planning to run away. She didn't have everything planned out quite yet, so the cave sufficed for short retreats from her parents.
The only thing that made her life more bearable, had been her older brother, Ciajha. They were very close, and Ciajha was very amirable; he had accomplished much in his 19 years of life. His only, 19 years of life. Ciajha had become a professional at martial arts, sword fighting, archer, and ju-jitsu, and had begun to teach her the basics. They shared secrets, and adventures, he was the only reason she was even going to leave a note explaining where she was, or more like it, where she was not.
When she finally cooled off, she flew back to her home. She saw a column of smoke arising in the direction of her house. Dai just thought her aviator goggles had just fogged up, so she took them off, and wiped them with her scarf. But to her dismay, when she put them back on, the horrifying sight had not improved.
She poured on the speed! Rushing toward the house, she had never flow so fast. She lowered her head to protrude her beak forward, in doing so, she felt the cut wind grace her feathers and fur like rolling in a down comforter. She streamlined her body, and split the air in two as she rushed through it. She reached the house in record time, only to find smoldering ambers.
Then she knew, there was really nothing left for her here. So she went back to the cave. She stayed there for many days, thinking of what to do. Then finally, she realized that she must find herself a place to stay. She thought of what she lost, and Ciajha, then remembered something he had said; something about a new republic. He wanted to go and assist in the war against Aetheria. He could no longer do that, but Daiymeon could. She stood on the ledge of the cave, backpack filled, heart broken, and leapt into the night sky, and off Edentoth.
She was lost in thought, when she felt cold metal on her back. A feeling of dread surged through her. Then, a familiar voice, shattered her fear.
Has this what my training has amounted to?" Daiymeon turned around to see none other than Ciajha. With tears in her eyes, Dai leapt into his arms.
How did you…" she started, but Ciajha held his hand up for silence.
I went looking for you after you stormed off. When I didn't find you, I went home. I woke up to the smell of smoke, and rushed out of the house. I went to the designated meeting place, but mom and dad never came. I sat there waiting, looking at the smoke for them, when I saw you flying, quite fast I might add," Dai blushed "and headed for the house again. By the time I got there, you had already left. I spent the next days looking for you, but never found you. That is, until I saw you in the sky again. So I followed you."
I'm so glad I didn't lose you!" "and I you little one, but now is not the time for this." He broke free of her and threw something at her, which she failed to catch. "Reflexes are an important part of becoming a warrior."
Daiymeon smiled. Things were back to the way they were; other than the whole orphan thing, but that didn't bother her much. She picked up the object. It was unlike anything she had ever seen, it was a wide sword with a round button on the hilt, and a triangular piece cut from the blade.
What is this?" she asked incredulously.
This," Ciajha started, "is a shock sword. You wield it like any other sword, but the missing piece is a perfect opportunity to," he stuck the end of his sword through the middle of Dai's and with a flick of his wrist disarmed her, "to disarm your opponent." Dai was confused,
but why would you want to be disarmed?"
You see that is the trick, the element of anticipation. If you know what your opponent will do next, then you can counter attack it. That is where the marvelous new invention of electricity comes in handy." He pushed the small round button on the hilt and lightening began dancing between the sides of the sword, in an erratic frightening way. "The rubber hilt allows the holder to not get zapped, but the metal in all other swords conducts this electricity, thus, roasting your opponent. The trick is to only turn it on at the right moment, because once it has been used once, the person you're fighting will know better."
Amazing," Dai exhaled as she turned on her own shock sword.
Now, lets see how much of my training you remember." Before Dai had a second to think, she got a slap on the side from the flat surface of Ciajha's blade.
They began to spar rapidly, Daiymeon learning from every mistake she made. All of a sudden, Ciajha disappeared. Dai looked around frantically, worried she had lost her brother again. But a force hit her between the crests of her wings on her back, thrusting her forward. She looked up to see Ciajha standing on some barrels holding a rope. She looked up to see that the rope was part of some loose rigging from the nearest ship.
Learn to use your surroundings." Ciajha instructed as she stood up. She charged at him with all her might, just as he leapt down off the barrel and sent it rolling toward her. The barrel crashed into her with such force that all its contents spilled out over the wharf.
Dazed, Daiymeon looked up through the piles of fine linens to see Ciajha waving his wrapped hand in front of her.
Oh good, you're awake," he said. He crouched down, on all of his four insectoid legs, to examine her. When she finally came too, Dai suppressed an urge to snicker, so it came out as a snorting sound. Naturally, that set Ciajha off into hysteria, and Dai soon followed.
Oye you two! Whacha think you're doin' with me linins?" asked a drunken sailor. He started toward them, "You two betta not be stealin' anythin!
better scram," said Dai
that's the smartest thing you've said all day," replied Ciajha, and with that they started to sprint up the wharf, following the twisting turns of the planks. They hurdled over fish venders stalls, scrambled through the gypsy tents, and almost annihilated a pair of chickens, Dai laughed as she looked back to see the owners trying to sooth the flustered, squawking chickens.
Finally, the wharf ended, and turned into boardwalk. Them running away had not been such a hot idea, because now they had more people following them than when the had started. Daiymeon felt Ciajha's arm around her waist, and let him drag her under the wharf, to the beach. There they stayed silent until the roar of the unhappy merchants dissipated. Dai fell asleep in her brother's arms, listening to the roar of the ocean, and his heartbeat she thought would never be heard again.
Jakov Vasiliev (AKA Yasha), by Voot.
Captain Jakov Vasiliev raised his arms above his head once more and stretched out his shoulders, leaning back slightly in his chair before returning to his hunched-over work position. An array of maps, charts and navigation logs lay strewn in front of him, marked here and there with pencil, ink, and odd stains from coffee, tea, and most likely soup from three days before. Jakov, or Yasha as he was known to most, sat keenly studying the maps he himself had composed by navigating the skies over Edentoth and into the neighboring region of Aetheria in his zeppelin.
And oh, what a flying machine that zeppelin was! Of course, no flying machine would be able to rise off the ground without her crew. With Yasha as captain and his trustworthy friend Alexei Duchenne as lieutenant and assistant, she flew high above the highest treetops – soared over the loftiest mountains. In it, he and Lexi had carefully studied the border shared by their own homeland and the neighboring region. Each mile – no – each centimeter – had been carefully documented, measured, remeasured, redocumented, and recorded not once, not twice, but three times in a variety of logs, charts, and lists. This information, Yasha knew, would prove vital in the days and weeks to come.
He had been aware for quite sometime about the unrest between Edentoth and Aetheria, hoping that the issues would all be solved through peaceful means. But alas, there seemed to be rumors hovering in the air that there was soon to be a recruitment of soldiers – yes- armed soldiers- in the capital of Aetheria. He paid little attention to what people in the taverns whispered about the subject, but knew that something – someday – was going to happen.
He sighed to himself, pushed a few gray strands of hair aside and picked up one of the charts and set it down in front of him, his azure eyes studying the carefully delineated and recorded information while he scribbled on a small note pad. For a while, the only sounds in the room was the metallic tick-tick sound of the strange clock that stood in the corner of his study, and the scritch-scratch of pencil on paper. Then, the sound of a small chime brought Yasha's attention to the timepiece. It was time for tea, and none too soon.

Maggey of Edentoth, by Spazzbert.

Berry of Edentoth, by Dora.

Seaishu of Edentoth, by choco_chip_c00kie.

Kiluaya of Aetheria, by Star.

Risuke of Edentoth, by Pyro.
Unigano of Aetheria, by Goma.
It's morning. Sun is rising from beyond the mountains. But I'm already late... Oh well. Let's wake up the big guy, huh? After all... he's our ride...
Unigano is this big Uni you're seeing. He's big, huh? The purple mark under his eyes makes him look evil... But he truly isn't. He's a bit grumpy sometimes... But he's easy to lead into some laughters. Trust me, I'm only funny 0.1% of the times and he laughs 99.9% of the times I joke around...
I bump into his body. See, he's big, I'm small, a bump no matter how hard I try is always gonna be a pat on the belly for him... Though it might mean a headache to me... I gaze at his body while he moans and wakes up. He has these red stripes all over him. I'd almost tell he came out of a red striped zebra... a zebra with few stripes...
He has a very particular pattern on the head. It's hard to describe, so I'm not gonna try. It just looks like some curvy.. horns around his eyes... See, I told you I shouldn't have tried...
I jump to his head like I usually do, climbing down to the forehead. The pale yellow horn stops me, curving up. Under me, his mane tangles in my paws. He has a long mane. I think it makes him look cool! I tell him we're late.
He moans back at me We're not late. We're never late. There's no deadline for us.
Okay, I agree, but the rats are now around Aetheria... And... It's early for breakfast..., he replies.
He starts walking, he has big hooves. Really. I mean, they're almost as big as I am... They'd squish me very easily. That's why I ride his back and don't walk along with him!!! How sad was for a small Anubis like me to end up his days squished under a draft Uni hoof?
He also has pretty wings. Well, at least I think. Thanks to them, he's alive, and I'm alive too. They are very strong and the top color is slightly different from his, cause, you see, the Fire Faerie was in the middle of the flames and couldn't match his color very well when she blessed him... xD
Anyway, I was saying his wings are very strong. Yeah, that was pretty much what I had to say... His legs are strong too, ya know? He's a heavy horse, a draft Uni, and he's used to make exercise. Poor him, before having wings it's not like he had a choice other than walking...
Sooo, he also has fur by the hooves, which is really cool cause it makes an excellent blanket! With his size and fur, I doubt he's ever cold. Unlike me, I'm smaller... Still... I hear better than he does!!!
We're pretty much there. I mean, we don't really have to be anywhere. Just where we're told to. "Oh, there's a rat plague here, go get them", and we go... I hear them, and Unigano does the dirty job by chasing, often smashing heads or biting the plague... Of course, he hunts and I eat... Kidding!!! We prefer to burn the little rats before eating them. Who knows what illnesses they may have, right? And even though Unigano here is a tough guy, even a disease caught from this food can knock him down. And we wouldn't want that to happen, would we??? Okay, at least I wouldn't... I won't speak for you, but I'll let you to figure that out by yourself.
BlackJack, the Anubis
Risuke of Edentoth, by Pyro.
... And there he sat, pondering the workings of the world, his brow furrowed in thought. His wavy brown hair, mane, and golden cravat fluttered in the wind. Once or twice, as he fidgeted with his boots, they nearly plummeted to the earth below, but each time he was able to catch them before it occurred.
His warm amber brown eyes gazed out at the cool white clouds that billowed past. He didn't worry about the clouds come and drenching him in their moisture; the secret Sky Ruins must have had magical repellants on them to keep the clouds, and everything else at bay. It was a wonder he'd even found them in the first place-- perhaps it was the old protective enchantments weakening. But these crumbling ruins of a castle in the sky were cold, mute, and eerie in their stone-grey splendor. Ivy had somehow found a way to flourish in the high altitudes and covered the hovering piece of ancient history. Interesting.
Risuke stood, brushing off his black and blue pinstriped pants with their gold knee patches before straightening his blue vest and golden cravat and wandering over to the largest wall that remained standing. Runes of old littered the surface. He reached out one sturdy hand to touch them gingerly. Rock crumbled beneath his fingertips.
He drew back, scratching his chin, continuing to frown at the ruins as he headed back to his airship, intent on heading to the Library of Edentoth. Oh, the things this place could say if it were given a voice...
Wocks of Aetheria, by Saz.
Are you serious?" Wocks yelled as she threw out her hands. "You're not letting me live with my sisters because I'm a Necromancer!?" was how things often started out evertime the Von family left for a new habitat. She was yes, a peculiar character, with spiked clothing and glowing white eyes, but this did not reflex her personality. Knowing they were never to get a home, Emo the supposed leader of the family; decided Wocks had to find her own life somewhere else because they wanted to rest in a stable home.
... "So, thats it then?" Wocks murmered to herself, putting her hands behind her head and falling back onto the cold, hard rock of her new found cave. "My god, I'm already talking to myself..." But it's time to tell you a little more about Lithia Von Wocks. Glowing white eyes weren't always at all scary. Infact, her eyes were quite beautiful, glimmering in the moonlight. Oh, and her clothing? She wore the dark, and fearful armour because that's what she liked. She didn't find much prettiness in flowers and bright colours; she was just different.
Wocks didn't believe she was going to ever find another Necromancer in Aetheria, neither in Edentoth. Bah, Edentoth.. She would think to herself most of the time. Edentoth had never applied to Wocks, the whole new-industy thing and the technical new-ness. What's wrong with plain old magic? You can do what every you want with magic; technology is so restricted.
Getting to her feet, she brushed the dust off her dark, sturdy clothing which appeared most hot on a day like this and yawn a sigh of impatience and thrill of sarcasm. The world can move out my way, because nothing is going to stop me standing out while blending in...
