Nat is a fighter pilot in a secret navy force. he was secretly sent on a mission to retrieve a hostage. no one but Ana, his partner, could know he was going, so no one knew what happened to him while he was there. this is his story.
*note* Nat talking / Ana talking / other people talking
Ana and Nat were on their first high profile mission together, Ana being a junior-rank member and just recently coming of age.
Coming Nat! I was just getting all of our stuff together...
Normally, going on secret missions doesn't involve carrying copious amounts of luggage. However, Ana is somewhat of a hoarder and inventor, always creating new ways to accomplish a task and making sure she has everything she'd ever need to make such a device. Nat often tells Ana that all of this stuff isn't wise to bring on a mission, which usually results in Ana skulking around until the time comes when they have to leave. Then, she sneaks a few items onto the helicopter anyway.
Ana, what have I told you about bringing all this onto missions?
But Nat! I need all of this stuff! Look, I have this new inv-
*Agents 107 and 108 to the office, please.*
A loud voice sounds overhead while Nate grabs Ana's hand.
Ana, we're late, come on!
They run down to the office together for their meeting with the head of department to get the needed blueprints and weapons. The door opens as they approach, and as they click closed, the pair sees their leader, 001, before them.
You're late. Not that I should be surprised, considering you're rarely on time. I wonder why you're still here.
I'm sorry, sir. But, as you know, it takes a while for new recruits to get used to the layout of the building.
Nat quickly made up any excuse to get out of trouble, and to keep Ana with him.
Yes, that's true. However, agent 108 isn't exactly a 'new' recruit, is she?
Well, sir, she's used to being in the training building, which is much smaller than this one, sir. 001 slowly walked around them, looking for fear or any emotion that would indicate their lies. Having been unsuccessful in finding any, he sighed and continued.
As you're well aware, this mission will not be easy. You must retrieve a hostage taken from our last journey to the base. Seeing as they already have one hostage and know we want him back, they'll be expecting you. So you must be extra careful. In your packs I have placed a rope, a grapple hook, night-vision glasses, and copies of all the keys inside of the base. The map is on the desk, you'll be needing that as well. Be safe. Dismissed.
They both saluted 001 before grabbing their packs and the map, and headed out to the helicopter. This was Nat's most important mission yet, and he was worried.
Nat, where's the map?
I thought you had it!
I thought you... Oh. Wait. Nevermind, I found it.
It went on like this for a while. Until they got to the base, actually.
Nat, where are we landing?
But... How will we get back?
I set this baby to auto-steer. It'll fly about half a mile from here, that way it'll be safe and we won't even have to walk to get to the base before dark.
So, they jumped. Their parachutes landed right on course, luckily, and they ran up to the door. It was locked with a hand scanner as a lock.
Dang it! This is new. We can't get in without- watch out!
Right then, an arrow shot past Nat's head. An attack! But how did they know they were there?!
Run, Ana, run!
They ran around to the back, arrows whizzing past, and found that there was a regular lock on the back door.
This was one of the things Ana was useful for; she was a mastermind at lock picking. Within seconds she forced the door open and they rushed inside. They breathed a sigh of relief.
Alright, let's split up. We need to find Angelo and we're already 15 minutes behind. The sooner we find him, the better.
But Nat, what if you need me? What if I need you!
No Nat, just go.
And she runs off. Nat sighs and starts walking. At least there'll be peace now. He walks for about three hours before he finds the cell. Ana took the map. It's no wonder she isn't here either, she never knew how to read a map.
He looks up. Nat smiles, expecting him to look happy, or relieved, or at least surprised. But he just looks terrified.
No Nat! Run away, go!
But... Why? I just found you, I'm not leaving you alone again!
It's a trap! They knew you were coming and- watch out!
But it was too late. Three guards had come out of the shadows. But they didn't look very normal. Something about their glowing eyes and metal skin...
They were robots.
