Beware of sand traps...

Good day guest! I hope you enjoy your stay here, I will follow the fairly standard procedure and tell you about myself and my family.

I am Laouja. (La-Oo-Jah) My nephew, Equilifer, calls me "Lue," and now all of my nieces and nephews refer to me by this nickname. I was born a Yellow Lupe, 102307 hours ago, but shortly thereafter I was painted White.

After a happy year as a Lupe, I acquired a Desert Aisha Morphing Potion and I was changed into this lovely creature! I live with Ray, the insane blue dragon creature. She is more of a friend than an owner.

My lifemate is Laoul, and between us, we've adopted all of Ray's other pets-on a total of four accounts-as our children. We had two children of our own, but they both left us to find new homes beyond our reach. :(

My Petpet is Chalcedony, the "Evil Kadoatie Mastermind." She won the Second Ever Petpet Spotlight, and her temporary fame made her ego swell. Ever notice the size of a Kadoatie's head? Sometimes I think the inflated ego of one has an effect on them all.

Chal!According to Ray, Chalcedony is never home; she's on a permanent Ego Trip! Oh yeah, very funny. I've gotten used to the petulant demands of my ill-behaved Kadoatie, and I have also gotten very good at ignoring them.

Chalcedony plots... Chalcedony enjoys snoozing... and scheming... in front of the fire. She claims the random patterns in the flames help focus her thoughts. At least when she's zoned out on the hearth, she isn't getting into trouble! Some people wonder why I put up with such a total brat... and ... uh... Actually. I'm wondering too.

Just kidding. Chal may be Impossible, but I'm responsible for her, and if I can't handle one pesky little brat, then I don't deserve my reputation as Auntie Lue!

Everyone should have someone that they look up to. Schools often make kids write papers on their role models. Well, grown-ups can have role models too, and I'm using this section to tell you about mine.

Children write about athletes, actors, singers, or other celebrities as their role models. Their reasoning for choosing these famous people are usually simple reasons, along the lines of "My friends think this person is cool," or "I like how she sings," or even "I want to be just like them.

Unfortunately, all too often, these decisions are based on only that child's limited understanding of what these people are really like. They see the end result of targeted marketing, careful planning, and scripted roles. Sometimes, the real personality shines through the part they play on screen, but this doesn't happen often. Even interviews are rehearsed, and edited, and placed in artificial settings.

Older children sometimes write about family members or neighbors as their role models. Sometimes as a kiss-up, and sometimes honestly. I respect anyone intelligent enough to recognize the value of the experienced people in their lives. I find myself in that position sometimes; the younger pets around me look up to me for guidance and advice, and I find myself repeating the advice given to me.

My Role Model is Auntie Z. She describes herself as "An eccentric old lady with an exotic hairstyle and unique travel plans." No one is really sure how she is related to everyone, but it is true. She periodically visits Ray, and it is impossible to predict when she will show up.

Aunt Z. is the greatest friend anyone can have. You can trust her with anything, with complete confidence that she will never EVER betray that trust. She is infinitely precise; she knows instinctively whether or not an extended stay is feasible, even before she shows up.

Everyone has character flaws--it is what makes us real--and I've searched for Z.'s. The only fault I can find with her is that she only gives. It seems impossible for her to accept anything. Gifts given to her are found weeks after her departure, with a cheery note that she couldn't possibly fit it in her luggage, and a suggestion as to who would love such a present.

Z. does not accept advice either. However, I have never caught her being wrong in anything, so no matter how dubious her plans sound, they always work out for the best. She can be frustrating, but in some ways, that is part of her charm.

Someday, I hope to be nearly as respected as Auntie Z. I don't think all of Z.'s methods of Aunting would work for me, but there are many areas in which experience is the best teacher. I learn from her as much as I can. Perhaps I will eventually be as much her Auntie as she is mine.
