A little mare pokes her head around the corner, looking at you with cryptic eyes. She strides up to you, and she is just about your height. Her ears are what catch your attention: They are pointed towards you, and almost touch at the tips. You've never seen a mare or stallion with ears like this before, and you are tempted to touch them. However, by the look on her face, you decide it safer not to.
So finally, it is my turn to speak? Her voice is deep, alarming to come from such a slender frame. You nod your head, waiting for her to continue…
Life for me started very normally, as one such as myself would live. My mother birthed me away from the herd, and I had a completely normal birthing process. At least, so I am told, it would be quite an occurrence if I were to be able to remember my own birth. My mother was always a beautiful, dark purple mare with the finest of golden hair like myself. It is quite a phenomenon in our part of the world, India, to have golden hair and so it came to no surprise that my mother was my father's favorite and his lead mare. My father seemed almost plain in comparison. However, his color was even more important. You see, he was completely white, which to our people meant that he was of divine descent. So, when I came to be born multicolored with white, I was quite a beautiful child.
But as I grew older, I sensed that the others did not like me. I have come to realize now that it was because I see the world in a different way. If I do say so myself, I was, and am, much more intelligent than my herd would ever be. But that was not the reason that I was to finally leave. I have and always will have a thirst for knowledge. That is what truly drove me from my home, the need to find out why and how our world works.

You would like to know about Angelo? Well, if you wish.
You look behind the mare to see a medium sized cat perched on her back. He looks like a completely normal tabby cat, except for two small differences: His curious orange eyes, and his golden foot and tail end.
You see, I found in one of India's very busy cities. He was eating out of a trashcan, and was very malnourished. When he saw me, he looked like a caught rat. But I noticed his interesting splash of gold, and he reminded me of myself. I coaxed him to me with food, and he has stuck with me ever since. I have also found that he is very good at finding water, which is of great help to me. But what he is greatest for is keeping me company, and particularly loves it when I read books out loud to him. Once I start, he curls up between my front legs, looking up at me so that I know he is listening. He is actually a rather intelligent boy, and I know there is something about him that I have yet to discover.![]()
