What is The Correction Pen?

Hello and welcome to The Correction Pen - a proofreading and review site run by yours truly, Emma. Here at The Correction Pen I aim to provide you with lots of advice for your new or maybe slightly more developed sites. Whatever type of site you want me to review or proofread I am sure that you will receive excellent service.

The Correction Pen offers 3 types of review: Basic, Standard and Proofread. They all offer different benefits to the site owner as some are more in depth than others and some may look at different aspects of the site. You can find out more about the different types of reviews when you come to request one.

So now you have a basic knowledge of The Correction Pen, I guess you want to request a review? Well before you do make sure you read the rules but after that you are more than welcome to request a review as long as requests are stated as open

Rules

Please make sure you agree/comply with all of these rules. If you do not then I may be unable to review or proofread your site.

• Please link-back to The Correction Pen this simply requires you to link back to the homepage of this site during and after your request for a review. There is no need to link-back to The Correction Pen until you have had confirmation from myself that your review is underway
• Only request one review at a time this means that you will have to wait for your first review to have been completed before you can send in the form to request another review even if it is for a different site
• You must wait at least one week before you can be re-reviewed if your site has been reviewed and you have made the changes that have been suggested to you and generally improved it, then you must wait a week before you send another request because else the waiting list may become very busy
• Fill in the request form with as much detail as possible please don't hurry through the form providing me with only half of the site link or not enough detail. For example writing /~Kougra_February as it makes it much more difficult for me to complete your request in a short amount of time. If I spend time on your review, then surely you should spend time filling in the form accurately?
• Please do not send me the same neomail over and over again I will respond to every neomail as soon as possible. Please only resend a neomail if you do not receive a reply within 3 days
•Do not send rude or aggressive neomails if this occurs then I will automatically stop your review, I am doing you a favour giving your site a review. I do not have to do it

So you've read the rules and now want a review? That's great. There are three reviews avaliable so please read below and decide which review best suits your site.

Basic

The Basic Review is the most simple review. I will give you three things you need to improve on, three things I liked and my general overall feeling of the site. No score will be given.
This review is best suited to newer sites or people who just want to be given a quick overview of their site

Standard Review

This is the review that most people tend to go for. Simply because it has everything you need to know on how to improve your site. A score will be given out of 50, compiling of:
- My First Impressions /5
- The Introduction - is it clear what type of site it is? /5
- Layout and Design - appearance /10
- Content of Site /10
- Quality of Link-Back Buttons and Sitely Section /10
- Whether the Site is easy to navigate or not /5
- Final Comments /5
This review is best suited to more developed sites

Proofreading

This type of review does what it says in the name. If you opt for Proofreading, I will carefully look through your site checking for any spelling errors, broken links or anything that generally doesn't seem right. No score will be given.

Pickup

Also in some reviews the tags I use to explain something may look like brackets. If you are using tags on your petpages, make sure you change them back to an arrow style else the coding will not work.

When I first open up the page to your site I see such a pretty layout that intrigues me to find out more about what you offer at Iridescence. It looks like a very promising and well kept site. 
The introduction captures the imagination of your site particularly well; however it is hard to understand what type of site you are actually running from this. Perhaps the introduction could go into more detail to explain this to any passing visitors. For someone to stop and navigate through the pages of your site, there needs to be a strong and introduction to capture their attention, unfortunately, this seems to be what Iridescence is lacking.
The layout of Iridescence is something I admire a lot. Everything is neat and orderly. On the other hand if I was being picky I would suggest making sure everything is placed in the centre of the page by using tags like this [center] TEXT/IMAGE [/center] especially on the 'Sunbeams' page. It would just make it look that little bit more professional. Other than that I really like the layout, especially how the image in the layout links to the themes of your site.
The content of your site is something that I think needs work and lets down the overall score.. I don't know how long you have been running it but I feel that there is not enough of everything. For example, if you are going to have the links that say icons, pixels and glitters then there needs to be a lot more than one of that type on the page. Also for your visitors convenience I suggest putting the code of the graphic on the page by doing this [textarea] TEXT[/textarea]. You should only not provide a code when your pages are full of graphics as this would just be a waste of space if you did so. Everything just looks slightly empty even though in the introduction you say it is a 'small shop'.
My favourite part of Iridescence is the sitely section. It has everything that you would ever require. Because of that I feel there is not much to say about it. One tiny thing that I would maybe suggest is move the counter to your homepage or at least in the centre of the page as it would make it look much more orderly. Also with the amount of link-back buttons you have it seems like you have catered for everyone!
As for navigation it is easy and everything is quick to load. One thing to improve would be to say, in your introduction what the links, Gold, Sunbeams and Raindrops mean as this is not very clear at all, but I guess as soon as someone clicks on a link they will find out.
To sum up, I think that Iridescence has the makings of a very good site. All it needs is more content (graphics) and perhaps just a little more care over where things are placed on the page. Other than that you run a great site!

A The reason I ask for everyone whose site is reviewed to link back is because it takes time to provide a detailed and helpful site review, which is what The Correction Pen offers. Therefore linking back shows appreciation for the time I have taken over your review and also hopefully enables The Correction Pen to reach a wider audience
Q Where do the comments from my review come from
A All sites are personally reviewed/proofread by me. Obviously whatever comments I give are just my own personal feelings of your site and everyone has their own opinions - that is why I like to say I offer advice. You can decide whether to improve your site or not. Any request for a review is really just asking for advice
Q Do you take other requests? (eg: layout, graphics)
A Unfortunately The Correction Pen does not offer requests for graphics or anything similar. You can only request for a site review at The Correction Pen. That is all that this site offers, helpful advice, nothing more. However, if you would like to request, perhaps a banner for example then another of the sites I run Innocent Banners allows you to do so.
