You're walking along, minding your own business, when you notice some movement out of the corner of your right eye. You look closer, and your eyes grow wide. It's a Moach. A giant Moach.
With a scream that could rival the "expert" skier's when they're hurtling down the quadruple black diamond Why-did-I-let-my-friends-talk-me-into-this?-I-could-be-back-at-the-lodge-drinking-hot-cocoa! slope at about 100 miles per hour, you dive behind the nearest object (a trash-can).
You peek out from around the trash-can, and to your horror the Moach appears to be pulling off it's own head! Unable to tear your eyes away, you watch until it finally manages to do so, and you find yourself looking at not a headless Moach, but...
...A Kougra." you murmur. "A green Kougra. That's dressed up like a Moach." But why?
you wonder to yourself.
Hi," the Kougra says. "My name's KoKo." she extends her right hand to you (her left is holding the costume's head under her arm).
Um, pleased to meet you." you say, stepping out form behind the trash-can and shaking her outstretched hand, err, pincher. "I'm guest.
Nice to meet you, guest," she says. "I suppose you're wondering why I'm dressed up like a giant Moach?
You nod. You had been wondering that.
The Kougra who calls herself KoKo sighs. "It was Birdy's idea. She created a page dedicated to 'The Unsung Heroes of The Journey to the Lost Isle', and made me the host." she says. "Hence the costume. Birdy said it fit with the theme.
You nod, even though you have no idea what this "Unsung Heroes of The Journey to the Lost Isle" page is.
Hey," KoKo says, eyes seeming to light up. "Really I have a few more minutes for a break, but would you like me to show you around the page I mentioned earlier?
You shrug. "Why not?" you say. After all, what could it hurt?
A grin spreads across the Kougra's face. "Great!" she says, and puts the head of the costume back one. "Let's get started.
But first, a note form Birdy
Hiya! Birdy here. Before KoKo starts y'all on the tour, I just have a few thing to say.
We all know about the sung heroes of the Journey to the Lost Isle plot: Professor Hugo Fairweather, Lilian Fairweather, the Fairweather's assistant, Werther, Roxton A. Colchester III, Scrap and Captain Rourke; but what about the unsung heroes? The ones who weren't in the spotlight?
This page (as you'll soon be able to see) is dedicated to the (at least) five unsung heroes of the plot.Warning/Disclaimer type-thingy that comes before the page: I, Birdy, am not responsible for any minds warped or confusion caused due to my logic. Nor are any of my pets, their petpets, and possible future petpetpets. For that matter, neither is my shop, gallery, trades (when I have them - and that's not that often but I'm sticking it in here anyway), auctions (same as trades), games played, sitethemes collected, avatars collected, stamps collected, collectible cards (and that includes my few TCG cards), and for that matter, any of my items (including my Pickled Leeches, Cucumbers, and Peanut-Butter).
And now I shall shush and let KoKo start the tour.
KoKo: Yay, thanks. *puts head back on and trudges over to the starting point*
The Jeering Lenny and Skeith
Featured in: Chapter 1
Who could forget the jeering pets (or as Professor Fairweather called them, "Those Close-minded Dullards back at the University") who taunted the poor Professor when he brought up the Island?
And who knows? If they hadn't started that hubbub, Roxton might have never spoken up which means there might not have even BEEN a journey to the Lost Isle! (Scary, huh?)
But they did start a hubbub, and Roxton did speak up, and there was a journey to the Lost Isle, so there's no need to run screaming though the streets of Neopia Central.
Unless of course you want to.
Quoth the Jeering Pets:
Oh no, not this stupid Island again!
You mean the hoax of the century!
Stop dabbling with myths, Old Man, it's starting to get to your head.
Expedition? Ha! You mean a fools errand.
No one would want to go chasing after a madman's rumours.
The Pirate-coloured Shoyru That Directed Professor Hugo Fairweather and Roxton A. Colchester III to Captain Rourke
Featured in: Chapter 1
Oomph, long name. So instead of referring to the Shoyru as "The Pirate-coloured Shoyru That Directed Professor Hugo Fairweather and Roxton A. Colchester III to Captain Rourke" (even though it is rather catchy), I'll just call him Mr. Brian.
Mr. Brian is the Shoyru who directed Professor Fairweather and Roxton to Captain Rourke - the captain of the SS Primella.
I'm not sure what Mr. Brian's job is exactly, but it looks like he might be some sort of director pet that directs.
...M'kay, that made little to no sense. What I meant to say was he might be the type of pet who directs other pets to those who are looking for jobs.
And that didn't make much sense either. I think you know what I mean (or I hope you do), but if not, ah, I think you'll be able to find Mr. Brian at the post where he stays (I think it might be somewhere on Mystery Island's docks) and you can ask him.
Quoth Mr. Brian:
Isn't that the book found on Mad Tongue Murphy, the raving castaway rescued by seafarers long ago? Legends say the the place he came from is cursed. No honest sailor would touch that story.
Well, there might be one...
The Outlying Rocks
Featured in: Chapter 2
Ooh, the outlying rocks! If they hadn't run into them, they might've just sailed right past the Island! And then they would never had had their grand adventure! Or found that shiny in the big shiny tower thingy!
But they did run into them (which made one grumpyer Captain Rourke), which also meant the ship had to be repaired (which I hear a lot of people had fun with).
But they did get it repaired and managed to sail (or is it considered sailing if you're on a steamship?) home. And they're now trying to gather a crew to return to the Isle.
Quoth the Outlying Rocks:
Unfortunately, the Outlying Rocks had no lines in the plot. *sniffles*
The Giant Skritch that Attacked the Giant Lady Blurg
Featured in: Chapter 2, Chapter 3
This is the Skritch (at least it looks like a Skritch) that Lillian came face to face with when she spied the strange fruit and hurried over to grab it. However, Lillian failed to noticed either bug until she was already by the fruit.
She noticed the Skritch soon enough, however, when she looked up and saw it towering over her. (What a lovely thing to look up and see, huh?)
However, it wasn't out to eat her. It was out to attack the giant Lady Blurg that was behind Lillian! The Lady Blurg was probably gonna sneak up on Lillian and gobble her all up. But it's dastardly plot was foiled thanks to the Giant Skritch. Yay!
Quoth the Giant Skritch:
The SS Primella
Featured in: Chapter 1, Chapter 2, Chapter 5, Chapter 6, Chapter 7
Ah, the SS Primella - the most unsung hero of them all.
It was the SS Primella who got them to the Lost Isle (although Captain Rourke was the one steering), and it was the SS Primella who got all bustalated up due to the storm, it was the SS Primella who got them all home in one piece (after Captain Rourke, Scrap, Professor Fairweather and Werther patched it, granted).
And through it all, she never complained.
guest (exasperated): Okay, that's it!
KoKo (confused): Eh?
guest: It's a boat! It's-
guest: *rolls eyes* Fine. Ship. But it's still-
KoKo: Still what?
guest (scowling): If you'd quit interrupting me I'd tell you!
KoKo: Well, sorry.
guest: Like I was saying, it's a bo- ship. An inanimate object. That can't talk or feel.
KoKo: But inanimate objects talk all the time in the Caption Contest! And they complain about being flung around and stuff.
guest: That's different!
KoKo: How so?
guest (while making one of those many sounds of annoyance): It just is!
KoKo: Okay, then. May I please get back to the tour now?
KoKo: *grins* Great! Thanks!
guest: *mutters* ...Oh, whatever. *crosses arms over chest* And your logic is totally warped.
KoKo: You were warned about that. *points to the warning near the top of the page*
And now, back to the page.
As I was saying, the Primella is the most unsung hero of them all. Without her, they never would have even gotten to the Lost Isle! Unless, of course, there was another captain crazy enough to take them there. Which I doubt.
Quoth the SS Primella:
Well, the page is almost done, and now it's time for questions! (Even though we've already dealt with one. *pointed look*)
You confused me with trying to explain Mr. Brian's job. Help?
Ah, sorry about that. My owner wrote that, and it was probably late at night. Her mind tends to not function properly or do weird things when she gets tired.
Is the Shoyru's name REALLY "Mr. Brian"?
Probably not. I say "probably" because he was never named in the plot and had only two speech bubbles, so Birdy just gave him a name here so she could be lazy and type that instead of the long title. I mean, uh, oh, look at the next question!
Why on Neopia did you say that a bunch of rocks were heroes?!
I think I already answered this. *checks* Yup.
If they hadn't run into them, they might've just sailed right past the island! And then they would never had had their grand adventure!
Same question, but replace the rocks with the Skritch.
I said why in the description, I believe. *points up the page* You can go see, then come back!
Why are you so weird?
If you're wondering about the logic of the page, blame Birdy, not me. She's the one who wrote this and gave me the stuff about each character to memorize.
Your owner must really like the Journey to the Lost Isle plot to have made this page.
Yes, the JTTLI is Birdy's absolute favourite plot. And she's also one of the people who's convinced that it'll continue. So there.
What's your owner's favourite JTTLI Character?
I have contacted Birdy with this question, and she said: "Oomph, that's a tough one. All of them?
Your owner's favourite part of the JTTLI?
I gave her this question, and her answer was: "All of them? Really, I liked it all. And the dialog was awesome.
So is it considered sailing if you're on a steamship?
Once again, I, Birdy, have commandeered the page to type! PH34R M3! *gets hit by a balled-up piece of paper thrown by KoKo* Or not...
KoKo: Oh, come on. I let you have control again.
Me: But "commandeer" is so much fun to say when used like that. *cheesy grin*
KoKo: *sighs* Fine. Can I go home and take this costume off now?
Me: *still grinning* I don't know - can you?
KoKo: *glares daggers from behind the costume's head-piece*
Me: Sure. Go ahead.
KoKo: Thank-you. *heads off*
Me: No problem.
Anywho, now comes the part where I thank people!
A HUGE thank-you to TNT, for creating the awesome JTTLI plot in the first place! It's awesome. *hands every member of TNT a cucumber* Y'all really put up with a lot from us. Thank-you for that as well.
Thanks to Fhaeline's Petpage for the coding for this layout. ^^ Being one who could not do something like this without a tutorial, I'm very thankful for your page. ^^
And that's it. D: Ah, well.
Well, since KoKo's gone on home, I suppose I shall have to do the send-off.
I hope you enjoyed this page! If you do, feel free to drop me a neomessage! I don't bite - really.
...Aaaand I don't know what else to say. Heh. But yeah, hope you enjoyed your tour! Bye! *waves*
You are visitor number whatever the counter says to this site. Cool, huh? =D
Counter started on March 10th, 2008
Of course, all images and the like belong to Neopets.
Now I didn't draw the images, but I made the background on this page, as well as the banner at the top (okay, okay, so I got the picture, made it bigger and added some text), and the pictures of the Unsung Heroes, so no sticky paws please. Steal and I'll sic my guild on ya. Have a nice day.
And I think that's it. =D
Ah, ha ha! Thought the page was over, didn't ya?
Well, it's not! (Yet, anyway.)
Yes! I have link back buttons! Simply copy and paste the text below whichever button you'd like to use. ^^
Rambly rule time: No stealing these (although I don't know why you'd want to - they aren't that good. :P), no claiming you made it, etc etc etc, blah blah blah.
