A Guide to Shapeshifter
Why Do I want to know how to play?
The avatar! Hehe You get the avatar for Shapeshifter after completing level 5, then going back to the main page.
The Object of the game:
This part can be somewhat difficult to understand, as I found the "rules" posted by TNT to be a bit hard to understand. So here's a clear-cut idea. You want to make all of the shapes be the "Goal" symbol. The goal symbol is marked by the word "Goal" under it. Simple, no?
How to play:
To understand how to play, we've first got to understand the "board." Below is a screenshot of what you see when you first begin the game:
Now, let's go over every part of the "board". First thing's first. When it says "Level 1" this means you're on level 1. The avatar is gained by completing level five, not just getting to it. Now, onto the board parts.
1.) This is the Goal symbol. This the symbol you want all the symbols to be. The shapes around it are an idea of how the symbols change. For instance, in this box it shows that a glove will go to a sword (goal symbol) and a sword will go to a glove.
2.) Active Shape: This is the shape you are allowed to change on the board. In this case, it's one square. This means you can change one square on the board at this time.
3.) Next Shape: It is very important to pay attention to what shape is coming up next because you can easily lose by not taking into account what the next shape is.
4.) The Board itself. Notice there are a mix of shapes on the board. Your goal is to make all of the symbols be the goal symbol. In this case it is the sword.
Okay Meag, now How do I win??
This is the tough part. You have to change the symbols by using the shapes given to you. Let's go over a sample game, shall we? We'll start with the board below:
The shapes I have to use to make all of the symbols be the goal are the one square shape and the three square shapes (this one is in my "Next Shape" section). Now I know I have to somehow make the symbols all be the sword symbol with the three square shape. Right now I have two gloves and one sword in the same row. I know that if I turn the sword to a glove, I can change all three gloves to swords with my next shape. This will make all the symbols on the board be swords, meaning I've won! Here are the steps in images:
The orange square is my shape. See how I am selecting the one sword?
Now all of the symbols on the top row are swords. Now for my next move.
This is my last move, with the three square shape. See how I've selected the top row? Now I click on the shape to make my move and.....
I won! Yay! Now you can move onto the next game.
Be aware, the further you go in the game, the more shapes you are given!
Tips & Hints
One of the strategies used by people to win this game is to create cutouts of the shapes and test them before making their moves. This is an excellent way to go because a.) you have no time limit so you can do this at your leasure and b.) You have less of a risk of losing the game and having to start all over from that level.
I don't use that method, only because I'm too lazy to make cut-outs of the pieces! lol I simply try to look ahead and figure out the best way to make the last piece turn everything into my goal symbol. I find the best method is to get all of the symbols to be the goal symbol as quickly as possible. Then it's just a matter of turning peices over again.
Remember! You MUST use all the shapes! So be careful of what you click!
Have fun and good luck to you all! I hope that this guide helps at least one of you to get the avatar! Or maybe even...a trophy!=D
