Wingoball Guide

Link: http://www.neopets.com/games/play.phtml?game_id=771

Very straight forward game, shoot the ball from one side of the screen to the other side. Avoid or use the obstacles to get there.

For every level you pass, you get 25 points, and then 1 point for every second of remaining time as a bonus. This is why you should try and be as quick as possible and get it on the first go.

Any hedges and garden features are simply obstacles and they will either prevent the ball from going in that direction and bounce back, or you utilise them to bounce the ball off and into the goal.

Besides hedges and features, there are gnomes. Some are fine, and just act like obstacles. Others are mean and will kill your ball.
Gnomes can be stationary or they may move, but they will only be one or the other and don't change.
Green top gnomes are fine and your ball will bounce of them. This can be handy at times.
Red gnomes are bad because they kill the ball. Avoid them however possible.

This will be a level by level guide, tell you where to put your mouse to ensure you get through the level. Because I can't screenshot where the mouse is, I have to approximate it to some extent, but I'll add little explanations for the levels as well to clarify.

I can get about 1000 points on the game on a regular basis, depending on how fast I get my mouse in place* and whether I time things right with the moving gnomes.

* Between each level there's a screen which shows your next level, you need to click anywhere on the game to move onto the level so you can get your mouse in place to click straight away so long as the gnomes are in the right part (which you can also see on the pre-screen so can prepare when to start the level... hopefully this will make sense once you're playing).

Level 1
Shouldn't nee much explaining or help... just click where the red dot is.

Level 2
Nor should this one. Introduces Obstacles. Place mouse over red dot to get minimum number of bounces.

Level 3
Easy again, introduces moving gnomes, but the good ones. Just requires a bit of timing. The column is slow so you can predict where it'll be when the ball will move through the gap and thus avoid it.

Level 4
Still relatively easy, introduces multiple moving gnomes. Lots of opportunities to get the ball through and the ball will bounce off the columns if you don't happen to get a smooth run from one side to the other. Timing is important though.

Level 5
This level introduces red gnomes. Very simple level so long as you click anywhere that won't run into the gnomes.

Level 6
Introduces moving red gnomes. When the gnomes hit either the bottom or top, click where I've put the dot and you'll clear the level.

Level 7
Nasty and annoying level, but still relatively easy.
Update: What you can do is place your cursor just above the red ball in the lower right hand corner. Make sure not to click ON the ball as this will end your game. It glows orange when your mouse is actually on it. Image has been updated too.

Level 8
This one has moving red columns in different directions. It's not overly hard to find the right time to click, but basically, once they've just crossed each other in the middle, click as it's the easiest point to get across.

Level 9
Really simple level, just wait until the green column has moved away from the gap and click where the dot is. Very straight forward.

Level 10
This has a couple stationary red gnomes and a column of moving ones, speedy ones at that. Hold your mouse where the dot is and wait until the column move into the same place as it is in the screenie. Will take practise to be able to predict where the hole will be just after you click.

Level 11
This one was a tough one to get but I figured out if I hovered my mouse above the first 'E' in 'Level' it was the perfect way to get the ball across the screen.

Level 12
I actually made a slight error in placing the dot in the image, click slightly above where I have put the red dot.
This one requires timing and placement. Keep your mouse over the dot I've put in the screenie, but wait till the gnomes have JUST hit the bottom of the screen and are on their way upwards. As soon as this happens, click. On this level, it's not vital that you wait until this exact point as it's slower moving than later levels and so there's room for error.
There are of course other ways to do this one, but personally, I prefer this way.

Level 13
Now, I didn't quite catch it on this screenshot, but you MUST click at the exact point where the two red columns meet and turn away. This must also be timed as to where the green gnomes are as well otherwise they will be an obstacle that will bounce the ball back into the red gnomes. The best time would be if the green tops are in the center at the time you click, this means that they will either be headed up or down by the time the ball gets through the red tops.

]

Level 14
You must wait until the gnomes are in the position I have screenied. Otherwise they will get in the way and you'll have to restart. Once they are, click where the red dot is and things should go well.

Level 15
Fairly straight forward but frustrating if you get it wrong. Click where the red dot is to get the minimum amount of bounces before the goal.

Level 16
Pretty sure this is the only way to do this one, needs to be clicked pretty exactly or it won't work.

Level 17
Wait until the first column of gnomes has just hit the bottom and click where the red dot is. This requires holding your tongue just so and hoping for the best. No matter how many times I click exactly there, and wait till the exact right time, it goes slightly differently every time and sometimes take a couple goes.
Just remember that timing is key here, so if you fail first time, don't stress about time, wait until the right point rather than saving on seconds otherwise you can end up clicking to early and fail again.

Level 18
This takes a bit of player judgement. You need to get through two columns that are moving at the same speed and have the same gap. Seems easy but since they're moving, you must get an angle going, either up or down, like I've outlined by the two dots otherwise you'll get through the first gap, and hit the second column.

Level 19
This one needs to be quite exact, just on the right-hand point of the square.

Level 20
Again, needs to be exact, and again, right on the right-hand point of the square.
There are two possible ways to get this one indicated by the two different dots. Find what is best for you.

Level 21
This one requires timing and placement. Click where the red dot is, and wait till the red tops are all in the second half of the screen, and the two moving in unison have hit the top. Timing doesn't need to be exact but should look approximately like the screenie placement.

Level 22
This is probably the most annoying level. Requires magnificent timing and will probably take a few goes. There are a few opportunities to get a smooth run from one side to the other but they're few and far between. Practice makes perfect...

Level 23
Placement must be very exact. Must be right on the tip or the reflection will fail. Those nasty speedy red tops are the next nasty bit. I have noticed the ball can go through if the column on the right have just hit the bottom of the screen like in the screenie. However, trial and error will be your friend. Just be snappy, there's not much time.

Level 24
This level has very little room for error. This is the only point I've found which will get you through to the other side of the screen, and haven't paid attention to where the green tops should be when I click as it's not overly important as it's slow moving anyway.

Keep in mind that my score is low in this level because I was taking screenies and it take its toll on the overall score. You should have well over 900 points by the final level if not before.

Level 25 (final level!)
Alright, so this is TOUGH. Even I can't get it all the time. I had to alter the image to show you where the gnome should be when the ball hits it. So just before the gnome is in the same place as the screenie, you should click. The ball should then bounce off him and go to the left. Often it goes right, which is why luck is involved.

Good Luck!

These are my recent restocking accomplishments. Anything over 50k will be shown here. Down the bottom is anything interesting that happens.

Please don't tell me how much that banner stinks. I know. I don't have PS on this computer and had to make do... it's an abomination but it's a space filler for the time being.

My guide to shop wizard sniping is at the bottom. If you'd like to give feedback or ask anything, feel free to neomail me.

For the second time in my almost 8 years in playing I got the tree in kass basher:

Guide to Shop Wizard Sniping

There are many ways of earning large amounts of neopoints, and sniping is one of them which doesn't require an excellent connection; it's also quite easy to learn, not to mention exciting.
Essentially, just like restocking, you buy low and sell high. The exception, however, is that you're not buying from the main shops, instead you're buying from individual neopet user shops.

What should I buy?
This is a difficult question to answer as it really depends on how many neopoints you have to start with, how patient you are, and generally how much profit you want to gain each day.

For example, if you only have 50,000 neopoints in total, then trying to snipe nerkmids is probably a bad idea. This is because you can snipe nerkmids at 99,999np and at least double your np, but are less likely to snipe them at less than 5000np.

This is why if you have small amounts of np, you probably want to go for things like codestones, dubloons, faeries, and similar. These are also very fast movers, so they will sell quickly even if priced 'correctly'.

If you're a patient person, willing to wait weeks, even months to sell a sniped item at the right price, then it'd be perfectly fine to go for slow moving items like high priced furniture, plushies, and the like.
If not, then you're probably going to want to go for things like avatar items, snorkle snouts, piñatas, etc. Avatar items are fast sellers because so many people collect them. If you want high profits then going for codestones, etc isn't going to work, whereas searching for paint brushes and secret lab maps are going to earn big money.

Why did the user price so low?
Users will price their items incredibly low for a number of different reasons.
The most common reason is the new user. A new user, unfamiliar with how the neopian economy works, will not price their item according to the shop wizard or trading post price.
Instead they will use the 'estimated price' found on the item. Or they will just sell it for whatever they feel like at the time. To them, 1np is better than 0np.

Another common reason, and an unfortunate one at that, is mispricing an item. Imagine thinking you've priced your item at 50,000, but you accidentally forget a 0 and so it's in your shop at 5,000.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with buying an item even if you're fairly sure it was mispriced. It's the users fault for not checking and it's not against any rules to take advantage of this.

The third reason a user may price an item so low is because they want a 'quicksale'. The item may very well be easy to sell or hard to sell, but if the user wants np quickly, they'll settle for whatever they can get in a short amount of time.
This may mean an item that goes for 50k may be in a shop at 30k, or maybe something worth 5k is in at 1k. It really depends on just how quick the user wants to sell their item. You need to decide if the item is too difficult to sell in the time you're willing to wait.
If you believe the potential profit you will make will take too long, you could decide it's just not worth the effort. It's all very well if the shop wizard 'says' an item is worth 50k, but if nobody will buy it at that price, it's not really worth that much.

Similarly, a price war can develop between two players, both eager to sell their item. The item could have been priced correctly at 50k, but if two users really want to sell that item, they will undercut each other until their item is sold. This can often mean that both users lose out but they won't realise it until it's too late. It's possible that a price war could in fact mean that both items can be sniped to your benefit. Just remember, if you think a price war is the reason you can snipe the item, it's probably a little difficult to move.

Another reason is simply a generous user who wants to share their wealth. Fairly uncommon these days, but it does happen. Some people just want to do a good deed and so will put an expensive item in their shop at a very low price.

The last reason a person would price their item so low is to get you into their shop. Many 'mallers' or just regular shop owners will price maybe 5 items throughout their shop at 1np to get people in. You then search around hoping to find other good deals and this will encourage people to buy items spontaneously. Be wary and always double check if you want to buy any other items. Unless you know for certain an item's worth, check the shop wiz.

How should I search?
There are two ways of shop wizard sniping – using the regular shop wizard or the super shop wizard.
To be able to use the super shop wizard, you must be a member of premium. This shop wizard will find the absolute lowest of all shops and so of course if one shop is priced significantly lower than everyone else, it's worth buying.
The problem with the SSW is that you can't search for just any kind of item. You aren't able to search for lab maps, nerkmids, transmogrification potions, and paint brushes (some others too but I can't remember them all). Also, you aren't able to perform as many searches as the regular shop wizard (you wouldn't need to refresh as often though so it balances out for the most part).

Whether you're using the SW or the SSW, you should open up the page in at least one tab/window. I prefer to have a few open at once with different items entered. This way, I don't need to keep copying and pasting different items into the box.

To open the SSW in a regular tab, launch it in a new window from your portal, then copy the URL of that window into a regular tab. I bookmarked this so that I wouldn't have to repeat this every time (in case you're wondering - I don't currently have premium, but have in the past).

It is wise to only search using 'identical to my phrase', as this will avoid problems which arise. For example, if you're searching for mau codestone using 'containing my phrase', you will find both mau codestone AND mau codestone plushie. Whereas, if you searched using 'identical to my phrase', you'd only find mau codestone.

Remember you can get shop wizard banned, which will make you unable to use the shop wiz until the next hour ticks over.

What price should I buy items at?
This really depends on you. You should base each purchase on either Xnp profit or a X% profit. If an item doesn't qualify, you simply don't buy it. Different items are going to need different baselines though. Buying an item worth 3000 because its priced at 2000 is quite different to buying an item worth 50,000 because it's priced at 49,000.
A dubloon that goes for 3000 could be bought at, say, 2500 or below; or you could decide only to buy when it's half price, etc. It's entirely up to you. Remember that the higher the profit, the less likely you are to find the item at that price and the more competition you will probably have trying to buy it.

How much money should I have out?
This depends on what you're trying to snipe. If you're searching for rare, expensive paintbrushes, then you'll need at most 99,999 out because that's still a huge profit.
If you happen to find 2 at the same time, however, then you'd have to waste time going to the bank to get more. If the items you're searching for are all usually unbuyable, keep maybe 200-300k on hand. Just hope like anything that the tax beast doesn't come. It's unlikely, but not impossible. If the items are much lower, then you can have less out.

How do I snipe?
Right so you know what you want to search for and what you're going to use to do it. The next step is actually sniping.
Depending on how many items you want to search for will depend on how many tabs you have open. If it's something fast moving like codestones, then you'll want to refresh every 10 seconds, maybe up to 30 seconds.
If you're searching paint brushes, those are not likely to come into the market too often so you can spread out your refreshing a little more, maybe every 30 seconds or once a minute.
Refresh the tab and if there's nothing to be sniped, move on to the next tab. Keep doing this until something becomes available.
If you find something, quickly open it and be ready to click and press enter to confirm the purchase.
Watch out for people who will change the price shortly after you go into the shop, this can be just a coincidence or malicious, either way - be careful.

I believe for the regular shop wizard that you can do 180 refreshes per hour now, this may be changed as it only recently was reduced from 200 per hour. 180 searches per hour means one search every 20 seconds. Anything less and you will get shop wiz banned before the hour is up.
In saying this though, if you want to do all your sniping in 30 minutes then feel free to just search as fast as possible and get shop wiz banned. There's really no harm in being shop wiz banned. Just don't start any quests if you're already banned or close to it or you will fail the quest.
Last but not least, remember to stock your items often. If you have more than 50 items in your inventory, you can't buy anymore items. Also, keeping your stuff stocked will also lessen the chance of the pant devil or some other event taking the item.
