about the application process

Personally, we're not huge fans of applications. After all, this is a guild, not a job interview! However, to make sure that those who join the guild truly want to be a part of the family, Aozora, like many other private guilds, turned to applications.

Now, don't fret; compared to other guilds, what we ask is pretty simple and straightforward. We don't expect a long petpage, nor do we expect a novel detailing your experiences on neopets thus far.

All we ask is that you fill out the questionnaire in the section below and submit it to either Alyson or Maddie.

After submitting your application, it's only a matter of hearing back from us! Once we read your application, we'll send you an invitation to the guild.

the application

Below, you will find the dialogue of several characters from various Studio Ghibli films. They will walk you through our application process step-by-step. Each character will have a question for you to answer. It is suggested, but most certainly not required, that you place your application on a petpage. If answered in paragraph format (which is also not necessary, but will earn you major cool points~), it will be quite long, so it will just be easier for everyone involved. (Plus, Maddie is blind and it hurts her poor eyes to read long neomails.)

Haku: We're taking the necessary precautions against the evil witch Yubaba; after all, Chihiro's card saved her. Please tell us your username (by this we mean the name of the account you'll be joining on; we do accept sides as long as they're active) and what you would like to be called. Quickly! If we have it on record in time, there's no way Yubaba can steal your name. This is the only way you will be allowed into the bath house.

Sheeta: Pazu thinks Laputa moves around the sky, much like clouds do, which is why no one has ever found it. Maybe if you tell us your time zone (in relation to NST, of course), you might be able to help us find the infamous castle in the sky. I hope we can get there before Muska does...

Lisa: I'm helping Sosuke write a paper for school. (Who knew five-year-olds had to write term papers?) Could you help us brainstorm? The paper is about why he was drawn to Studio Ghibli in the first place, but Sosuke has never been to a desert... hmm. Maybe it would help if you gave him some ideas. What draws you to Studio Ghibli?

Seita: Setsuko is curious about what your favorite fruit drop flavor is. Mm, fruit drops! It's been so long since we have had some. But, now that I think about it, if you don't like fruit drops, then what is your favorite kind of candy? (Though you'd have to be a certain kind of person to not like fruit drops!)

The next three questions have something to do with Aozora's rules and policies. Make sure you have a good look at the guild webbie before answering these!

Kiki: I'm trying to write a letter to my parents about all of the new friends I've made in Koriko, but I'm afraid I don't know how long the letter should be. I don't want it to be too short, or else my parents might not be too happy with me. Do you know?

Ashitaka: I've been leaving notes on trees for San to find, but I think I've left too many, as a lot of my notes have disappeared. How many messages should I have stopped at? I want her to get my message, but I don't want to clutter up the forest… the tree spirits wouldn't be happy…

Markl: Master Howl likes to receive letters from Sophie and me when he is away. He gets awfully lonely, especially during his first week. He prefers if we send him at least a certain number of letters by the end of his first week away; otherwise his homesickness gets worse. How many letters do you think is the minimum Sophie and I usually try to send?
