welcomeOh, hello there, stranger! You're looking at the non-member page for the wonderful Studio Ghibli guild, Aozora. So, you're probably here because you're interested in becoming a part of the Aozora family, yes? Well then, read on! You've come to the right place.
We're always excited to welcome a new member into the guild, and we would love to get to know you!
BEFORE YOU ASK FOR AN INVITE: Make sure you familiarize yourself with the guild rules and policies! Everything you could possibly need to know about the guild is located on our webbie (link is under the navigation)
Also, make sure you enable guild mailings! Council will sometimes make important announcements regarding the state of the guild, and we'd hate for you to miss them!
To enable guild mailings, go to: My Account, then click on Preferences. From there you should see a page with the option to enable guild mailings. Make sure you have that box checked!

- Have a nice, legible font that also doesn't burn anyone's retinas (seriously, having a dark neoHTML helps).
- Be mature. By this, we ask that you're agreeable and able to respect other's opinions. Courteousness and politeness are key!
- Be literate.
- Your account should be at least one month old. Based on past experience, we've noticed that people who join on newer accounts tend to become inactive. To remedy this, we ask that the account you're joining on is at least a month old. However, exceptions can be made.
- It would be helpful if you have your name or preferred nickname somewhere on your lookup or Neoboard font. Make sure you have your name someplace where we can refer to it easily; it would help everyone immensely.
about the joining processWe do things a little differently than other private guilds. There is not an application you have to fill out in order to join. Instead, people interested in joining the guild will have to chat with us on our current ad board before being issued an invitation. We would like to get to know potential members (and help potential members get to know us), and we've found that simply filling out a form wasn't enough.
Using this method, we're able to better gauge whether or not you'd be a good fit for the guild. We encourage you to ask any questions you may have about Aozora, as well as get to know some of our members! This isn't meant to be an interview; simply be yourself. We look forward to meeting you!
***We ask that people who are interested in joining the guild have a nice, legible font. Nothing gives off a bad first impression on the boards like a hard to read font, or no font at all. There are plenty of premade font sites out there; if need be, we can point you in the right direction.
frequently asked questionsDo you allow side accounts?
Yes, we do! However, Aozora is not the place to let your account rot. Please only join on a side account if it's an active one!
I chatted on the ad board like I was supposed to. Why wasn't I issued an invitation?
(Just as general note, make sure you let us know you're interested in joining! We do have people who stop by our boards from time to time to chat with us, and we welcome conversation with people who want to talk to us but might not necessarily be looking to join. It's really hard for us to differentiate between the two at times, so remember that you can never go wrong with a declaration of intent!)
Although there is no application, we take great care in choosing our members. There are a variety of reasons why we may choose not to invite someone to the guild, but the most common one is the use of chatspeak or general illiteracy.
Please take care to read the guild webbie thoroughly to familiarize yourself with what is and isn't allowed in the guild! We're generally quite lax about the use of smileys or abbreviations, but we'd like to stick to using proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
How active is the guild?
We are most active during the summer months when we have people online during all hours of the day. During the school year, we're most active after 2 PM NST, although it's common to find the odd member online earlier in the day. Overall, we're a really chatty bunch; there's almost always someone else online_
What is the age range of the members?
Most of us are in high school or college (or finished with college). Although we have some younger members, the majority of the guild is 16+.
