He sat at the counter of the coffee shop, gripping tightly to his coffee mug. He wore a black tee shirt and some baggy blue jeans; an apron on top of all that. This was where he worked, in this coffee shop. It was a little bit too girly for his tastes, tough. The wall was painted a pale, sugar pink. And the edges of the walls were lined in beautiful, bright yellow trimming. The furniture had consisted of a counter, which served as a little mini coffee bar. It was easier to serve customers this way. In the corner of the shop, were a few chocolate-brown bean bag chairs. With a medium sized TV turned on to the news. He had almost taken the last sip of his coffee when a girl came in through the door. "Hey Cid, I thought you had off today?" he said, waving to her. He could s in her bright orange eyes that she was angry, she hadn't planned on coming in today. She had beautiful brown hair that flowed down to a little past her armpits, the ends were died a bright pink, which contrasted well with the brown. The pink tips gradiated and blended into her brown hair. She was wearing the same thing as him, black tee-shirt, blue jeans, and a white apron. She came in and quickly took a seat on one of the bean bag chairs that had been undisturbed thus far. A few minutes had passed and the first thing heard was a long, drawn out sigh. "I really didn't want to come to work on my day off..." She mumbled, trying to be conversational. Curs ignored it; the quieter that the store was for now, the better. The shop was normally busier than this, but for some reason, no one was coming today. But just then the door opened, and a girl walked through. She looked rough around the edges, but still looked rather beautiful. Her black and brown hair was perfectly straight. She wore a bright yellow tank top that clung perfectly to her body. And tight, flare patterned jeans. Pair of drum sticks was sticking out of her pocket. "Andi!" Curs said excited, "You look rather... different today." he laughed. Andi hardly wore what she was wearing. She normally wore chains and heavy eyeliner. But today she didn't appear to have anything but mascara on. "You look beautiful." he grinned. Cid rolled her eyes; she couldn't stand it when Curs talked about Andi. Now having her in the room with them? She felt like a third wheel; and the lovey-dovey of couples did not please her while she was single. It just drove her insane. "I'm taking my lunch break." she said, getting up from the chair angrily. "Well... that was weird." Andi blinked, turning to face Curs with a big grin on her face, "Who needs her anyways. She seems like a jerk." "She really isn't. She's just a bit... relationship unstable?" Curs said, unsure, "She isn't into seeing people in love when she doesn't have a special other." he giggled at the last bit. "Oh... I see..." Andi said, "Well, she's gone and it's just us. Now." she wrapped her arms tightly around Curs' neck, kissing him for a few, long seconds, on the lips. "I love you." "Love you too." Curs repeated back, hugging her even tighter with his newly forming muscles. "But, I am working. So... You are going to have to buy something or get out." "Fine," Andi frowned, walking over to the counter she took a seat on one of the cherry red stools, "It's foggy as anything out there. I almost got hit by a car, I didn't see it coming!" He walked behind the counter, and leaned on it, listening to what Andi had to say, "That is kinda weird... Well at least you didn't get hit. I'd have been devastated." A loud beeping sound emitted from the TV in the corner, "We have breaking news." the anchor woman said, keeping her face straight, as if the news wasn't that bad at all, "There has been a pedestrian struck on the corner of Oak street and Bailey lane. Our Sky Chopper 25 is over the scene live with what's going on." The screen switched over to a helicopter view of what had been going on, the fog clouded most of the view, but you could still tell what was going on below. The ambulance had already arrived. The workers were now pulling a girl away on a gurney, while the police men walked over to the car. From the looks of it; no one was in the car. It had been a hit and run. The fog made it difficult to make out the colors of anything, but it wasn't hard to see the shoulder length, bright orange hair. Curs began to worry. ShoogR had orange hair. The screen flipped back to the anchor woman, and she began talking again. Her speech was fluent, and calm, as if this was nothing, "The person who was hit is still in shock trauma and is currently in critical condition as I am telling you this." She then switched to more news stories that didn't interest any one in particular. Worry clouded Curs' eyes. That intersection wasn't very far from the shop. What if it really was who he had thought it was? "What's wrong?" Andi asked, noticing the change in emotion, "I mean I know that was ironic but..." she paused for a minute doing nothing but stare Curs' in the eye, he matched her gaze. Then she got it, "Oh... Well we can go see later..." "No, no, she never came to see me, but what friend would I be if I didn't see her..." her pushed away from Andi weakly, breaking free from her snug hold. He slowly paced over to the window, and looked outside. The mournful gaze seemed glued to his face, even though it may have not been to his worst fears. Andi decided that it would be best to leave him alone at a time like this, and she was right. She cared about him, and it bothered her to see him as sad as he was; but she knew better than to bug him when all he wanted was to be left alone. A few hours had passed, Curs was feeling better; he wasn't as sad. His shift at the coffee shop was over, and he and Andi were free to do whatever they wanted. It was a sunday November night. These nights were when Curs would take Andi out to a fancy resturant, though these plans were far from him mind tonight. He was more focused on seeing if his best friend was okay or not. He reached down into his pocket and pulled out a white, slide phone. he slid it open and dialed a number. The call back tone played in his ear to the song hot 'n' Cold by Katy Pery, he sighed as there was no answer. The voice message began to play, and her voice flowed happily and innocently through the phone lines. "Hello, you've reached ShoogR. I'm sorry that I can't answer the phone right now, leave a message and I'll get back to you asap." He slide his phone shit, endding the call; no answer. This was not looking too good for him. "andi," he called back over his shoulder, "Can we please go? I can't take you out tonight, but we can do it tomorrow. I promise." andi nodded and walked over to him, giving him a quick kiss on the cheek, "Cheer up hun." they held hands as Curs walked over to his car. They got in, and drove to the hosptial without another word said.
