The Beach is Calling...

You hear the crashing of the waves against the sand. You look out towards the ocean, and walk down the path towards it. It is evening and the sun is setting, and you've always loved to see the sun-set on the ocean.

You stop suddenly, staring over the horizon at the marvelous sunset that was hitting the ocean, giving off a orange hue that touched the sky. You stare at it for a second, smiling, before noticing a sillhouette in front of it.

You know for sure that it's a neopet...you walk closer, making out that it was a gelert. It had to tails and it's fur was a golden color. His tails were dipped black, as were his ears. There were two spots on his left ear and one on his right. A gigantic black spot came up into a point on his chest. There was a black spot in the same area of the front of his leg. One spot sat on his back near his rump. His ears perked and he looks back at you, his handsome emerald eyes sparkling.

Hello..." the teenage gelert says. "My name is Kexocu."

The gelert is quite handsome, but isn't like any other spotted gelert you've seen. He smiles slightly, stands, and grabs your hand gently in his mouth.

Come on..." he said, in a slightly muffled voice, "I want you to learn about me."

You smile and nod.

And with that, you both begin walking down the beach and out of sight.

My Past

It was the coldest night of my life.

I squealed as I felt the frost against my short-furred body. I had left the warm room I had developed in...I was now in the world.

Poor little guy..Eitethu didn't have to suffer through this weather..." I heard a strong, kind voice said.

I felt a warm paw scoop me up and place me beside their body, and they wrapped their tail around me.

He's beautiful, Boltz...what should we name him?"

...Kexocu." I heard a feminine, gentle voice say. She seemed tired.

What a handsome name for such a handsome boy..." the male voice said lovingly.

I yawned, opening my eyes. The night had been long. I was a pup, but I had learned to walk, talk, and hunt. I walked over to the river and peered in with a big grin. I had my golden pelt shiny as ever, and my black spots were all looking good. I leapt in the river anyway, barking happily. I washed off my pelt happily, then leapt out again, and pranced toward the dark shadow that was my father.

He rose up his head, revealing his emerald eyes that were so much like mine. Around his neck was a necklace with ashy colored beads and pearly white fangs on it. On his back was an X scar and two slanted markings on each shoulderblade, making it look like his scar was an evil guy.

Hey, Kex...try not making so much noise before I wake up..." he said with a small growl, as he yawned widely.

I grinned. "Heh-heh, sorry Da-"

There was a loud boom sound. My father leapt to his feet in a flash and grasped me by the skin on my neck. I blinked in confusion. What was that sound...? I opened my mouth to speak.

KEXOCU! Stay silent..." he whispered to me.

I turned back to look behind us. The forests were undisturbed...

Then it happened.

There was a gigantic eruption from the forests. Black smoke billowed into the sky and fire swallowed the nearby trees. Ashes flew into the air and then back to the ground, catching anything it landed on on fire.

D..Daddy... what is that?"

An explosion!" he yelled out fearfully as the forests became engulfed in flames. He put me on his back and he ran towards the opposite direction of the exlplosion, which was quickly becoming engulfed in flames as well.

Kex, hang on!" he said determinedly, as he ran at a full speed. I clung to his pelt, my two tails billowing out behind me.

We were running through the burning forest. I squealed in fear, clutching my dad's fur even more. I whimpered.

Suddenly, a large, blackened, burning branch fell in front of my father, narrowly missing him. He yelped and reared back, sort of like a uni, and then turned to the left and continued running.

My dad...he had to be tired...running through the flames and with me on my back, slowing him down...

Kexocu!!"

I had leapt off of my father's back and began running in an opposite direction. He swore in frustration and then changed his path, running after me.

I stopped to turn around and face him. "DAD! GET OUT!!" I yelled. He stopped too. "Kexocu...I'm not going anywhere without you."

I looked at him sadly. "Dad...please..."

He stood.

IF YOU DON'T GO, I'LL STAND HERE UNTIL I DIE! I'LL RUN OUT OF HERE WHEN YOU GO TOO!"

Protector looked at me sadly. He let out a lonely, defeated howl, before turning and running out of sight.

I turned and continued running, panting as I went. The heat was so unbearable...

After about 10 minutes, I had been surrounded by flames. My fur was singed and darker than it used to be. I fell to the ground, giving up. I was gone...I was defeated.

KEXOCU!"

I heard a girl's voice. It wasn't mother's...or Ei's...who...?

I felt a woman's hands abruptly pull me up into her arms. I opened my eyes half way, looking to my savior as we leapt through the flames, searching for another exit.

She had long, silver hair. She had wolf ears and a wolf tail. Upon each cheek were two, navy blue scars and on her forehead was a black crescent moon scar. She wore a singed grey kimono.

You're Protector's son, am I correct? He's under my care, and since you are his child, I am responsible for your safety as well."

Finally, we leapt out of the forest and into a green, sunny meadow. I closed my eyes, not used to the sunlight.

She placed me down. "Go on...a river's over there...I'm sure your throat is burning because of the smoke inside it."

I thanked her, before trotting over to the river. I lapped up water for what seemed like 5 minutes. It was so cold...boy, was it refreshing.

I leapt in, cleaning my singed fur. I licked some of my burns, and then looked up to the woman, about to ask her name.

She was gone.

I blinked, as I looked around. Suddenly, it dawned on me. DAD!

I leapt out of the river(even though relunctantly), and began running along side it, searching for my dad. If I knew him, he would be around the river somewhere....

DAD!"

I finally found him lying in the river, his eyes closed, his fur singed. I ran over to him and splashed cold water upon him.

He moaned and looked up. "Kex...thank her you're alive..."

I grinned in relief, not noticing his strange wording. "Dad..."

He hugged me happily. "Kex...thank you..."
