The Vandals Labyrinth
Your gauntlet beings now...
You realize it probably wasn't your best idea, taking that shortcut through the alleyways. You're not even sure what compelled you to do it anymore, only that it seemed like a good idea at the time. You look behind you again to see that the wall blocking your path back is still as it was, though perhaps closer than it had been. The dark stone walls surrounding you provide no means of escape, their smooth surfaces displaying no footholds or cracks, and even if there were, their staggering height makes the thought of scaling them nearly impossible. You've unsure of how much time has passed but you keep walking, praying that somewhere up ahead the seemingly endless corridor will end or turn or, or
anything to get you out of this endless world of gray.
The far wall is beginning to feel closer now, but so are the growls you hear beyond them. The unearthly shrieks and groans had started not to long ago, but they were much farther away and not nearly as unnerving. These seem to be following you, and you swear you can hear the scraping of metal to your left, a scratching above you, and footsteps behind you. You freeze when you realize you aren't imagining those sounds, and whip around to be faced with a bright light.
Your eyes adjust relatively quickly, and just as the initial panic beings to build up in your throat the light dims and shifts away, revealing a young man holding...a watch? You stare openly as he slips it into the pocket of his jacket, having glanced at it briefly before turning his attention to you.
We don't have much time. Come with me.
His voice startles you, not expecting it after what felt like hours of silence, but he doesn't give you a chance to object as he turns and walks through an opening you hadn't noticed before. You glance over your shoulder at a particularly violent shriek before hurrying after him.

The Labyrinth
The walls have eyes
Much more than a complex series of walls, the Vandals Labyrinth is somehow...alive, a sentient, self aware consciousness with the intent of purifying, or purging its victims from the world. Once it selects a target, normally a being of intense negative or malicious energy, it draws them into its walls and allows them a varying amount of time to reach the center and their salvation. If they cannot reach the center before that time the labyrinth releases terrible monsters into the main pathways, leaving the runner to try to escape their insatiable hunger, or be purged.
The watch Kendrix holds acts as a timer, counting the number of days, hours and minutes a runner has to complete the labyrinth. He has discovered that as long as it is in his possession, and time has not run out, he is essentially invisible to the creatures patrolling the paths and can navigate the labyrinth freely. It is also his only way out of the labyrinth, though when returned to reality it becomes heavy, a constant reminder shackling him to his duties.
