Keiri's Dwelling Enter if you wish. Be prepared to enter a world of darkness and pain

∞Intro∞
One day you are shopping in neopia central. It's half-price day, and you hope to get some good deals.Unfortunately, it's been cloudy all day, and as you proceed to buy discounted items and lug around your numerous bags, the sky begins to grow darker until at last the clouds are nearly pitch black. You quickly grab an umbrella and raincoat at unis clothing and head for your neohome. Just as you round the bend at the Money Tree, a enormous crack of thunder stops you in your tracks. Moments later, the rain starts to fall heavy and hard, lashing down in cold, wet torrents. You shiver and open your umbrella, trying to shield yourself from what wetness you can. Shifting your heavy bags on your shoulder, you continue on until you spot a lone dark figure, lying between two gnarled roots of the money tree. You want to get home as soon as you can, and sit by the fire with a steaming cup of cocoa, but something strikes your curiosity about this figure, so you slowly squish your way through the soggy grass until you reach the dark pet. Under the protective leaves of the tree, the rain slows down to a drizzle. You unfold your umbrella and set your bags on a root. Hearing your movements, the shadow lizard looks up.
Her deep, shimmering scales match the color of the clouds, pitch-black. Purple-orange flames surround each orange-colored eye, where moisture has collected. (she's been crying, you think). Bright flourescent pink stripes run down her snout, leading into an -disallowed_word-but beautiful) wings lay. Her hair is an unkempt mass of purple, with occasional pink streaks. She shifts slightly, and you notice her razor sharp claws, and her bangles clinging from her tail. She looks at you with her sad, deep eyes, and you feel a small sense of emotion stirring in your heart.
Hello stranger, she says, her voice smooth, but containing a twang of something else you just can't place. My name is Keiri
You nod, and ask, "Are you lost?" She shifts again, her bangles chiming a second time. Then she uses the powers of her eyes on you again. Holding your gaze for what seems like eternity, she finally flicks them away and stares into the distance, not seeming to be there any longer. Then she opens her mouths and speaks in a sad whisper
I have always been lost, stranger. I will always be lost. Not the kind of lost that you humans speak of, forgetting where your home is. No, I have lost much more than that. I have no home, no family... no one to care about, no one to care about me. No stranger, I am lost in more ways than one. But I have managed to stay strong enough to survive in this empty world. You could not begin to understand my sorrow. But seeing as you are the only one who has ever shown an interest, it is my place to tell you. She sighs, then after a brief pause, starts again.
I had the fate as any other baby krawk did... cruelly stolen from our ancient caves where our species thrived and continually brought new krawks into the world. We were stolen by heartless Tyrannians, who want nothing more but to sell us for thousands elsewhere. They stole upon us quietly in the dead of night, being careful to slip only a select few from our family's grasp. They then took us to the Tyrannian petpet shop, where the shopkeeper payed a great deal for us. Me and the other krawks stolen that night thought our fate was sealed... until the next night, when a few people payed a visit to the petpet shop...
People is putting it lightly... it was actually a clan of neopets. Not just any neopets, but krawks, draiks, and scorchios. All natives of Tyrannia, and lovers of fire. They raided the shop that night, and took us back. They brought us to their village at the top of the tallest volcano in Tyrannia. The village was run by none other than the famous fiery scorchio himself, Magnus the Torch. He and his people raised us, taught us the power of fire. We became fire people, harnessing what true gifts of fire that we had. Their teaching left their mark on me, perhaps making me more of a krawk than my old clan could have. But as things became cheerful, my bad luck streak struck again.
People, neopets, attacked in the darkness of the night. What they wanted, I do not know. Perhaps they did not like our ways of the flame, or maybe they were the selfish krawk-stealers, out to get revenge. Whoever they were, they overwhelmed us, killed my village, burned my home. Only few managed to escape. I, like a few others, was taken again, forced to walk for days across the harsh, barren Tyrannian landscape. The people crammed us into a small boat, keeping us in tight ropes, feeding us very little. 3 days after our departure from the Tyrannian shore, we ran into a very large storm. Our ship was too small, too fragile to ride the enormous waves of the sea. Our ship went under one wave, then another, and another, until finally it tumbled over, and everyone fell into the sea. I was clinging for life on a small wooden board from the wreckage of the ship when another large wave closed in on my head. I fell, and not knowing how to swim, sank. As I thought my last words, I closed my eyes, and a last meager stream of bubbles rose from my snout. Surely it seemed it was the end, when a hand, smooth and warm and safe, came and lifted me high into the air. I coughed and sputtered and shook the water out of my mane. Managing a small flame on my claw, I dried of my scales as best I could. Then I looked up and saw my savior was a fire faerie.
Her name was Rhuva, and she taught me the ways of fire that my fire clan never did. I learned so much in my year with her, so much knowledge for such a small krawk. It is in that year that I also earned the title of Flame Angel, and grew a small pair of wings, as neopets weren't allowed to have large wings like faeries. But like always my happiness was soon to end, and Rhuva dissappeared one night. She left to run an errand for Fyora, and I waited hours, practicing fire spells, enjoying the quiet. But hours passed and she never returned. I waited days, weeks, maybe even months for her to come back. She never did. I felt alone, abandoned, and ran far away from my Faerieland home. It has been since then, stranger, that I have been roaming these lands, mourning for my family, my loved ones, and all the ones I have lost. I am lucky, stranger, to have this gift of fire. To be able to use it in a way most never will be able to. But it seems as though I am lucky in ability, I will always be cursed. Cursed to never have a home in which I can live freely, and love someone again.
Her voice gets quieter as she finishes off, and she looks up at you on last time. She reaches out a long claw and touches your forehead, and a surge of warmth runs through you veins.
Thank you stranger A tear rolls down her scaly cheek, and she snaps her claws, and disappears in a veil of purple flame and smoke. You stand there, shocked, staring at the place this magnificent creature once was. The rain has finally stopped, and with a sad heart, full of pity for the creature, you pick up your bags and head home. As you enter your door and put your belongings on your dining table, a neopet watches you from your window. She is black in color, with purple-orange flames around each eye, and a pair of wings on her back. She smiles at you sadly, then flutters off into the distance. And as life moves on for you, you never forget the creature you encountered, that gloomy rainy day. Everytime you sit in the quiet, your mind drifts as you think about the unfortunate but captivating shadow lizard, the Flame Angel.

Keiri approaches you, yawning, her eyes drooping, hair messy as ever. Hello human. Welcome to my living quarters. You look around. The room is dark with a small amount of light luminating from a small lamp. She chuckles. No, I do not live here really. This is where I return. It is my... 'home she pauses. I am a loner. I cannot be kept in just one place. However this is the one place I always return to, sometime or another. I travel alone, taking my petpet, sometimes gone for days. But anyways.. it is sunny and seeing as I have nothing else to do, I might as well give you a tour since you wasted your time coming here. She turns and you jump back, her live flame nearly singing your shirt. Sorry about that, she says in montone, and beckons you with a claw. Catiously you follow.

The Family
What's that? You want to know about my nutcase of a family? Pfft she snorts. They aren't worth messing with but...-sigh- I suppose it wouldn't hurt
Fang- Fang's really a good owner. She provides me with whatever I want, and is really caring and quite loving towards me. But she's made some big mistakes by taking bozos like Save and Devil into the family. She gets overloaded sometimes because of all the stress and chaos they give her, but normally she's a bundle of energy. She's kinda stingy though.... overall she's a pretty good person who needs to make some improvements in the family...
Devil- where to start...where to start. First off, Devil is a krawk you really would rather not run into. He's selfish, vain, and pretty much all over fits his name. Usually he's leaning casually against the wall, all cool-like, attracting a mob of screaming ixis and fainting ogrins...-gag- Devil just likes the attention, and is just the person to take advantage of all the girls who like him. He gets their gifts, then pretty much plays a mean trick on them. If any of them knew what he was /really/ like...immature, evil...a brat....yeah. When he's not being so "irresistable", he's chucking water balloons at random people, stealing things, slipping embarassing things on your seats...He's not really 'bad bad'. More of a pathetic 'prankster bad'. And he acts so tough and smart...like he's the best in the world. I've never been to Maraqua, but Devil has...he's pretty much banned. Everyone there hates him. In fact, I'm pretty sure he's a legend. "No one go into the dark, or Devil will scare you", that's what they say. -sigh- And things are always chaos in our neohome, because he and Save are fighting...I mean all the time. Thank god for Save4low; he's the only one who can hold Devil back
Save4low-He looks scary, but it's 10x better to run into him than Devil. The big difference? He has common sense. Devil acts without thinking. Save4low's mind, though Darigan and still slightly devilish (not 1/10th the evil factor of Devil though), actually thinks things out and shows sensibility most of the time. He's like the average Darigan, tall, proud, and pretty much ignorant of anything not worthy of his time, i.e non-darigans. I don't know what it is between him and Devil, but as soon as he came into the family, something sparked and everything has been chaos ever since. I think it's Devil's instinct of disliking anything that thinks they're better than him, or who shows competition. Whatever it is, they make things non-peacful every day of the week. Save4low was a lab rat Fang found in the pound. She labbed him for about a week, and when he turned Darigan she fell in love, and has kept him ever since.
Lab rat-The last member of the 'family' is always occupied by Fang's lab rat. She's never had as troublesome a labrat as Devil and Save4low, which helps me keep sane having a decent pet around. The lab rat usually gets a color change about once a month, then Fang ships them off to be fostered, or gives them to a friend who really wants him/her. So we have a lab rat change about once a month. There's really nothing more I can say about a lab rat, so let's move on o.o

Friends
Let me introduce you to my friends...er.. aquaintances.

Tallgeese
Tallgeese is probably what someone would call my 'best friend'. He and I are actually quite alike. We do what we want when we want, and are free spirits. He loves to battle though... I'm becoming stronger, so I'll hopefully be like him one day. The best thing is is our love of fire. Actually it's more like our life, our passion. He is the only pet I can be open with. He's really an amazing, unique draik.
 Taker
Taker is another pet that loves to battle. He is strong and loves his mazzew, taking him everywhere. Though he cannot fly, and isn't into fire as much as Tal and I, he is still a loyal friend who is there when you need him. As far as krawks go, Taker is a pretty good guy.
 _raxiel_
Raxi also likes to battle. He can be described as an arrogant krawk, who is mischevious in nature. He hates to lose in everything, including battling. Raxi would probably make a better friend of Devil, but unlike Devil, he has a decent side and can make a pretty good sidekick when it comes to the tough stuff. He tends to frighten people away with his ghostly look, and he isn't one to ignore the urge to use his ghostliness to his advantage. In other words, he uses it to bring out his mischievious side. But Raxi is cool in his own way. I just can't explain how.

Poems
Here are some rather sad poems Fang wrote about me...
~Memories~
This first poem is in the view of Keiri... enjoy ^^
Sitting, alone
On a stump
In a valley deep
Underneath a willow tree
My mind wanders
Everything so beautiful
So full of life
So full of color
Something stirring
Deep within
Telling me to jump
Telling me to skip
To play, to laugh, to scream
To be happy...
But how can I be happy
When there is so much bad?
How can I be happy
When I have lost so much?
And I think back
Far back
And close my eyes and breath
The krawk clan...
Laughing krawks, and steaming food
Campfires, songs, stories
Magnus, my fire lessons...
Praising my work
Managing my first flame
Rhuva....
So beautiful, so kind
Saving me
Teaching me so much knowledge
Loving me, giving me a home
Growing my wings
And then....
Being stolen from my family
Mistreated, sold
Village being burned
Loved ones dying
Taken once more
Nearly drowning
Losing Rhuva
Being alone...
It all rushed back at once
A movie in my head
I had to deny the feeling
To be free, to be happy
Why should I be happy, when so many around me suffered?
Slowly, fluttering up
Picking a single flower
white, graceful, beautiful
Slipping it into my mane
My memories are my links
Links to the good times, and bad
And all I can do is remember them
Smiling at the happy times
And crying
At the sad
~The Buzzer~
A lonely krawk
Wanders silently
Hanging head
Heavy heart
Passing by others
Saying nothing
Looks, stares
Curious mutterings
The dark krawk moves on....
A sudden pathetic cry
Parting the grasses
A hurt buzzer
Torn wing
Weak and hungry
Touching gently
Lifting slowly
Warming slightly
Setting down
Apologizing
For not being able to bring life
Only able
To bring flames and darkness
Sadder heart
Lower head
Few last tears
Then turning slowly
Flying off
Into the darkness
Once again

Keiri's Petpet, Jade
Well I see you've met Jade she notes as a tasu begins to hiss at you. She's quit unique She adds. Behold...
Jade was given to me by one of my close friends in Faerieland, during my studies with Rhuva. My friend was Melina, and she gave Jade to me to be my constant companion, which to my dismay, is exactly what she is. Jade is a bit.... clingy, and very protective of me. She tends to get agressive when someone tries to do something bad to me, even the smallest offense sets her off. She follows commands from me, and only me, which leads to many problems. She follows me everywhere I go, and when left at home, she tends to go insane. But most of the time Jade can be a wonderful companion, who often sympathizes with me when I'm in my bad moods, and rubs up against me, purring. Most importantly, she's a good lookout for me when one of my brothers attempts to prank me. Sitting on my back between her wings in a small indent, she is often called my 2nd pair of eyes, who alerts me at any bit of trouble. We communicate without talking, which yes, means we communicate telepathically. Of course, Jade being a native of faerieland, and belonging to a skilled pet, me, she is not powerless. Other that her mind communication, she is also able to do minor things such as healing, water bending, air balls, and hypnosis, which makes her the perfect defence mechanism when I am in a sticky situation. Though clingy and annoying, Jade is in many ways the perfect petpet for me, for now and forever.

Story
Here's a story I wrote in my spare time. And seeing as you're still here and the sun's still out, I might as well share it with you:
~Brotherly Love~
Devil.... wow. What an utter disgrace of the title 'krawk'. Everyday he makes my life a living heck. Let's run through my schedule....First, wake up to the screams of either Save4low or Devil. Sleepily stretch out and splash water on my face to wake me up. Brothers bust in, yelling at each other, grabbing for each other's throat. Me yelling at them to get out, them breaking something. Fang running upstairs to break them up, and dragging us downstairs to breakfast. I spoon in my cereal as fast as possible to get away from the yet-to-quit-arguing-brothers, and speed away from the house for the rest of the day. What I do is something I'm not going to share, but let's just say my days don't include frolicking across the fields of Neopia Central. Then I can unwillingly troop back home to my still chaotic house, and crawl miserably into bed. Devil is the root of all my problems, and everyone else's for that matter. Ever since I joined this family, unaware of what I was getting myself into, I've had but one good run-in with Devil. Since it was a once-in-a-lifetime thing, I feel I ought to write it down, for future purposes.
Of course Devil could never be nice on his own. It'd probably cause him to go into an uncontrollable spasm, and make him wind up in a coma, or melt his brain. Either would be fine by me. But anyways, the story. Well, it started on a rainy day. I had just gotten through my morning ritual, if you can call it that, when Save4low convinced Devil to open the boiled eggs for breakfast by cracking them on his head. Demonstrating, he handed Devil an egg...and Devil copied what Save4low...except when it cracked open, instead of a solid egg, a mass of thick slimy egg yoke dripped down his face. Of course that started a huge fight between the two. Fang was getting tired of being cooped up in the house with the two arguing idiots, and I had to stop her from taking her fifth aspirin in one hour. So just as I was about to go out into the rain, she called to me.
Keiri " she yelled from her room upstairs. "Could you please come here for a sec?" I closed the door and slipped off my hat. Sighing I trudged up the stairs in into her large bedroom. Sitting down on her bed, I asked what she wanted. She proposed that we, me her and the doofus brothers, took a trip to Mystery Island. She said we needed to get out, go into the fresh air, exercise, and that she was going crazy with boredom since the rain hadn't stopped all week. I didn't have the heart to tell her that was the last thing I wanted to do, so I shook my head yes and said it was a great idea. Her eyes lit up and she gave me a hug, and ran downstairs to tell Devil and Save. Fang spent the rest of that day making reservations and such, booking our boat ride and choosing our hotel. Finally she announced everything was ready, and instructed us to pack our bags. I didn't really have much to pack....just my favorite leather boots, my battledome set, and my twisted roses cds. In the last moment I slipped my mutant krawk plushie underneath my scrolls. Er... you didn't need to know that.
We met Fang at the bottom of the stairs. I was done first, tapping my claws on our wood floor as the voices and bumps from upstairs continued. Finally a loud flapping sounded behind me, and I turned yawning, foiling any attempt Save had to sneak up on me. He held a large suitcase in his front paw, and a carpet bag hung from his tail. He grinned at me, showing his sharp set of teeth, as he set them down. I rolled my eyes at him and turned back to tapping. Devil soon came slipping down the stairs. Before he was at the bottom he tripped and tumbled all the way down until he crashed into the table against the wall.
Nice," I chuckled, as Save4low burst into a fit of laughter, pointing at him and calling him 'clumsy McClums-a-lot', which frankly is the worst insult I've ever heard. I felt a little sorry for Devil for a minute. It couldn't be easy to come down our freakishly steep stairs with no legs, just a thin, weak little tail instead. Especially with his five 3-ton bags who were probably filled with endless prank items. But as soon as Devil spat on my leg out of spite, or perhaps embarrassment, whatever pity I possessed for the sad little creature immediately washed away.
Don't EVER do that again " I screamed at him, shaking my leg in disgust. "Or I'll singe your mane right off your scaly, empty little head " I gave him a fierce glare, and bared my teeth a little, forming a large flame in my palm. I held it slightly below his chin to intimidate him. He gulped and coughed from the smoke. "You too rock-brain " I turned to Save. "This is a vacation and Fang needs us to behave. So no funny stuff, or you are both going to end up with your room on fire. Got that? " I glared at the both of them, and fluttered off to meet Fang upstairs. I'll admit, I wouldn't actually do that stuff, maybe just burn their favorite toy or something. I couldn't do that to Fang, and though I'm seemingly scary, I'm not violent. But Devil and Save take my threats seriously, so it's all good.
Save and Devil were dead silent all the way to the boat, until Devil started complaining of lacking wings...and legs. I finally had to make another fireball, and turned around eyebrows raised. I held it to my mane and pretended that I was burning it. Devil got the message, and shut up again. We finally arrived at the bay of Neopia, located at the very far south-east end of Neopia Central. A rather large, sweaty grarrl stood at the entrance of the boat, and in a low, abrasive voice asked for our tickets. Fang fumbled around in her pocket for a second, and withdrew 4 tickets. The grarrl took them rather hastily and ushered us onto the boat. I stopped dead in my tracks, and looked around in awe. I could hear Devil gasping and Save laughing in a satisfied way.
Fang, how much did this cost?" I asked, hefting Jade into the nook between my wings and neck. She laughed and picked up her bags.
That," she said still chuckling slightly, "is something you don't want to know." she turned and walked along the edge of the boat, searching for our cabin number. The boat was as tall as Terror Mountain itself, pure white without a speckle of dirt on any of it's sides. The edges of the boat including the rail gleamed in pure gold. The deck was as clean as the sides, a deep passionate mahogany. A rather large pool extended across the opposite end of the deck, with sparkling blue waters, and numerous slides and diving boards. Several myncis in tuxedos walked around with dishcloths and trays with glasses of refreshments, tending to the passenger's every needs. Along the sides of the boat, many lawn chairs stretched out, giving a view of the sea, calm with occasional rippling waves, showing lines of white across the water into the distance. The outside was amazingly gorgeous, and left me stunned for a few seconds, before I realized I took no pleasure in any of the activities they had. Yet it left me wondering what was on the inside, which turned out to be ten times more magnificent than the outside. I couldn't begin to explain the numerous luxuries that awaited us inside.
After we overcame our amazement, we left to follow Fang who had discovered our room. When we stopped gaping at the room, we set down our bags. Save and Devil began to fight over who should get the top bunk, and after minutes of yelling and disturbing the people around us, Fang finally flipped a neopoint to see who got it. Save won, and smugly flew to the top and settled his bag. Devil glared at him ferociously...seeming to be sending him an invisible death ray. An unsettling silence fell over the cabin until Fang finally suggested we went swimming. You may not know this, but I'm a terrible swimmer. I don't even want to learn. I HATE water... well not really water itself, just a lot of it. Pools, seas, oceans, ponds, lakes, you name it. Hate them all. I mean last time I was in water, I nearly drowned, which isn't exactly a pleasant experience...plus the lotsa water fire thing doesn't really mix. But anyways.... I shot Fang a questioning look, and catching my drift she suggested I just sit on one of the chairs and listen to my cds. A little sun never hurts a krawk, especially with the whole cold-blooded thing going on, so I followed Fang and the rest to the pool. Fang slipped in the water and sat on a step, putting on a pair of sunglasses, and leaning back to enjoy the warm neopian sun. Save automatically pushed Devil into the pool, where Devil entered his turf. No one, I mean no one, wants to be with Devil in the water. That's where he's actually got power. Outside, he's a mean idiotic krawk, in the water... well, he's actually got control over things. So I knew things were going to start getting ugly, since Save really is an air-bound lupe. Ignoring the two bozos, I sat on the edge of the pool and slowly slipped my feet into the water. That for me was honestly hard, since my phobia is actually quite severe. I slipped a Twisted Roses cd out of it's case, and popped it into one of the boat's stereos. Closing my eye's I lay back, and let my scales soak up the rays. This is where things took a turn for the worse.....
Devil had finally gotten Save. How I know? Sounds my friend, sounds. It's not hard to miss a gigantic splash and groan/yell sorta noise, and then that annoying "evil" chuckle Devil took up just a month ago. Now I have great hearing, probably the best around, but I swear I didn't hear Devil slither up to me and yank me into the pool. I screamed... loud, as I was pulled under. Frantically flailing my legs, I tried to escape from his fins, as he pulled me along to the other end of the pool. My lungs started to get that pressure-fiery feeling that I had felt before, when finally he let go and I floated to the surface. Coughing and spluttering, I managed to paddle my way to the edge and hoist myself up on the ground. Devil was laughing his head off, and Fang, finally realizing what had happened, brought Devil over to the edge to yell at him. I, still in a state of shock, yanked my cd out of the stereo, and ran back to our cabin as fast as my legs would take me. Slamming the door shut, I jumped onto my bunk, and sunk under the covers. I lay there for what seemed like ages, the bed sheets clogging my breathing. Finally I ripped off the covers and took several gasps of fresh, non-musty air. When I opened my eyes, who was I staring at but that ugly, slimy krawk. He chortled. I narrowed my eyes
What, you think this is funny?" I managed to make out through my fury. "You may be the master of swimming, but I'm not. If you had any amount of sense in that tiny pea-brain of yours, you would know that!" His stopped laughing and straightened out his -disallowed_word-Blog) Coder
