I have been on the site about 5 years - I had an older account - and I like working on all of my collections like trophies, avatars, stamps, and galleries. I'm a graduate from Landscape Architecture. I live in Ontario and have been playing neopets since September 2001. I collect sand and sand-related items. I also love to collect avatars and have been expanding into stamps and trophies, and training Chichoran for the BD. I'm very good at figuring out coding problems as I can usually quickly find the source of the problem. What is Collectors Inc. all about?Does the name not say it all? We are a friendly bunch of collectors; we love giving each other feedback about gallery layouts, going prices for items, discussing new avatars and a large array of subjects. On top of that, our guild is like one big family, so we're here through any subject you'd like to discuss!
How do I join Collectors Inc?
Mail someone listed below for an invite - We will look at your collections in the account you mailed us from to judge whether you are eligible to join the guild. If there are collections on your side accounts, you should let us know about those too! There is also an ongoing board on the GSC about Collectors Inc if you'd prefer to post there for an invitation.
People to mail: Dest, Tess, Lilly, Limo, Tanner.
Please only mail one of us at a time! We aren't on 24/7, but we should be able to respond within a day. Only if you do not get response after 36 hours should you mail another person on the list. If our inboxes are full please throw a Soggy Old Box at us.
I haven't decided on a gallery theme yet, can I join?
Provided you have some evident idea for your gallery that you can explain in your application to join the guild, we are happy to accept and help new collectors! Just note that an idea isn't just "poogle stuff" please explain as well as possible once you join (provided your request for an invitation is accepted), you can even ask on the guild boards for suggestions, just remember it's your gallery and it's not up to other people to come up with all the ideas for it. Having a wishlist ready is a great way to show that you're ready to collect. Also remember that gallery items aren't the only thing you can collect in Neopia, there are Avatars, Trophies, Stamps, Collectable Cards, Sidebar Themes, TCGs, and lots more! You can also join on those collections!
So I've just joined, what can I do?
Make sure you pop by in the guild message board and introduce yourself! This will help existing guild members know you better. Take a look at all the guild pages, and familiarize yourself with guild events - if there is one going on, maybe you can even give it a try!
How do I get a higher ranking in the guild?
When a member first joins the guild they are classified as a Collector. Every post a member makes helps them reach the next rank. That is why it is so important you introduce yourself on the message boards when you first join! Once you have reached a minimum of 100 posts, we look at the format/layout, the completion, size and value of the gallery to determine if you are eligible for the next rank. If you collect stamps, avatars, trophies etc. you will be ranked similarly on completion and value of your stamps, collectable cards etc.
Here is a rough outline of the specifications below:
Collector- Entry Level Rank
Item Hogger- 100 posts, 4 guild stamps, 3 weeks in guild
Guru Collector- 300 posts, 10 guild stamps, 2 months in guild
Elite Collector- 600 posts, 15 guild stamps, 4 months in guild
Is InSaNe- 1000 posts, 22 guild stamps, 6 months in guild
The minimum message count is necessary to obtain each rank.
Remember, Spamming will not get you a rank up, instead it will get you banned! Please don't harass the council to be upgraded, as it makes things really awkward as we like to stay friendly and open to suggestions without being attacked for our regulations. You must neomail us when it is time for your rank to be upgraded.
How do I earn Poll privileges?
You must have 1000+ posts and have been a member for a minimum of 30 days. Once you meet these requirements, neomail Destiny with an edited version of the following contract:
I ,(your username here), have been here for at least 1 month and have posted at least 1000 times. I agree that a new poll cannot be made until the current poll has been up for at least 3 days. (Initials here) I agree that I will only make 2 polls per month, inconsequentially, to give others a chance as well. I understand that 'silly' polls count towards my limit. I agree that before a poll can be deleted, I must copy and paste the poll results on the guild board. (Initials here) I understand that my poll privileges are a bonus and can be removed if the council feels this contract has been grossly violated. Signed (username here).
Some Clarifications: The creator of the poll has the option to delete the poll before the 3 day limit is up if they like.
How do I get added to the guild pages?
Most of the lists require a rank higher than Collector. This isn't to stop new members from participating, but rather to prevent "guild hoppers" creating a lot of work for the people who keep the pages. Please be patient about your info being added to the pages too, especially with the Collectors Lists as it takes a lot of time to update those!
Activities
Every month, we have at least one activity going on in the guild. These are fun activities, not necessarily related to collecting, and aside from a guild stamp or trophy, there is no reward. In the past these events have ranged from creating a haiku related to your collection to something as extensive as guild tournaments or plots. Of course, these activities are not compulsory but just good fun for all guild members. Here we keep an archive of events that we've had in the past for you to browse through. There's been a lot of effort put into these entries by guildees in the past, so what better way to tribute these entries by displaying them for all to see? Maybe you will even get some ideas for new activities!December 2010: Month of Celebrating Challenge
This event, hosted by Bridget and Sam, consisted of CI members teaming up to beat a group of weekly challenges set out! From gaming challenges to scavenger hunts to riddles, teams had to work together to score the highest number of points as quickly as possible.
November 2010: Banner Competition
During this month's activity, run by Katy, participants were required to create a banner advertising one of their collections, whether it be their gallery, neodeck, stamps, trophies, etc. Some of the banners were very creative, making it difficult to just choose one winner.
October 2010: Collectors Inc. Riddle
This event, hosted by Stephanie, consisted of a riddle with hints released weekly. Participants had to use logic and deductive reasoning to figure out which answers fit together out of the many options available! Many participated, and it was a fun time for all.
Here is the riddle, for those interested: There are 6 different neohomes next to each other. In each neohome lives a different Neopet. Each of them are of a different species and color, they come from different worlds, like a different fruit, play a different game and have a different petpet.
Your goal is to determine which species of Neopet, which color, which world, which fruit, which game and which petpet is associated with each neohome (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6).
September 2010: 2nd Annual Gaming Tournament
This was the second annual guild gaming tournament hosted by the guild, the first being in May 2009. (Yes, I know, there's quite a gap in activities listed here, but we're starting to try harder to keep it up to date.) 16 guild members battled it out to see who was the ultimate gamer. Though it was a rough journey, Alex eventually triumphed with Mandy claiming a close second.
July 2009: Keyquest Tournament
This event, hosted by Tanner, was another tournament following the immensely successful first guild gaming tournament. Participants battled it out through Keyquest to see who would become the victor.
May 2009: Gaming Tournament
This event was the first of its sort. While there had been plots by Destiny and many other activities in the past, there had never been such a setup in the guild before. However it was proven to be a huge success. Many guild members faced off in the first game tournament held in the guild, hosted by Lilly. Though it was very close in many rounds of the tournament, Katy won!
February 2009: Survivor - There can be Ona-ly one
Destiny hosted this wonderful event. 12 members faced off against each other in games, riddles and challenges. Players earned points based on their ranking for each round. The players with the lowest amount of points were in danger of being voted off. The top winners earned themselves a custom graphic of their choice.
April-May '08: What's Cooking?
Use 2-3 existing items to create a Cooking Pot recipe which makes a NEW item for your gallery. You don't have to create the image/description for this item, but it would be a bonus. (Special mention to stelen2222 for coming up with this event!)

Sick of seeing that phrase every time you open a Collectable Card? Now to come up with what TNT has yet to do! This months activity is yet another easy one (C'mon, we want everyone entering! :P) A more artistic one will be up next month if we can come up with one ^^;; (Neomail your ideas to the council if you ever come up with any!) Simply come up with one description for a Collectable Card lacking a description Want to go the extra mile? See how many descriptionless cards there are out there! Count how many you have and list them as part of your entry, and we'll see how many the guild can get together! If we have enough, maybe we can even mail TNT as a guild - much like we mail them about unactivated items! So what are you waiting for? Get on it!

December '07 - January '08 (run by Sarah)
Have you been carefully watching the advent calendar as suggested? This month's activity is about how you can fit different items into a theme Pick any item given out during the advent calendar last year and explain why it would fit into your gallery! Be as creative and original as possible - after all, it's often what's different about a collection that makes it memorable. An example would be, if I collected Acara items, I may note that the Christmas Parade Poster has an Acara on it, or personally, while I understand there was a day specialized with desert items in the advent (Snow Pyramid and Desert Candy Cane), I may choose a more interesting item like Giant Moach Costume because giant moaches were part of a plot, and my gallery sparked off from the Lost Desert Plot. While you mightn't actually every put this item in your gallery, we still want to see if some of the guildees can come up with clever, humorous, perhaps long-winded reasonings behind why an item could potentially be related to your gallery. If you don't have a gallery, try to relate an item to your other collections (avatar/stamp/collectable card/trophy/etc.) and contact me if you have any difficulties (Eg. You keep an Advent Calendar gallery) All entries NeoMailed to sweethoney27 by the end of January - this is a simple enough event, and we'd like to see as many guildees enter as possible!

1. tess_240: I decided to relate my randomly chosen advent calendar item, Meepit Carols, using the concept of six degrees of separation. For those not familiar with the term, it means that everybody is connected to everybody by an average of six friends. Using this, Meepit Carols can be directly connected to Sand by only 5 common gallery themes.
Meepit Carols would share gallery space with a Chrismas Meepit in a Meepit Gallery.
A Christmas Meepit would sit with a Christmas Paint Brush in a Christmas Gallery.
That Christmas Paint Brush could go together with a Desert Paint Brush in a Paint Brush gallery nicely.
A Desert Paint Brush would go with a Bag of Sand in a Lost Desert Gallery.
Then the Bag of Sand is in my gallery.
So using that logic, the Meepit Carols would be a perfect fit for my gallery. It also explains how the meepits plan to control all of neopets.
2. jesssares: On the 23rd day of Celebrating, Eliv Thade handed out a Roast Ham. My gallery theme is obviously kacheeks, and Eliv thade is very much a kacheek (maybe an undead one, but nevertheless) and it would definitely fit into my gallery because I'm not sure what Eliv Thade has cooked up to serve for Christmas dinner, but we're probably better off not knowing.
3. butterfloo10: The Snowager Cap would fit in perfectly with my gallery (especially 4 of them). With them in the first row of my gallery, they can join my Snowager gallery keeper and guard my treasures against crazed fans frantically trying to get their hands or paws on a keepsake. Unlike the real Snowager, these four caps never sleep. There will be no luck for treasure hunters. These caps can even roam outside the gallery, nestling themselves snuggly on top of my pets' heads. Only woe awaits those who enter the lair with the intent to steal! The Snowager Cap fits in my clothes category. It would also represent the Snowickle I am too poor to own haha xD
November '07 (run by Dest)
This month is a celebration of Neopets. Back in 1999, the site was launched by Adam Powell. Over the past 8 years, neopets has given us a site to relieve stress and make friendships. Our activity this month will center around their birthday. Your task, if you choose to participate, is to create a birthday item. Not so fast! In order for this activity to be a true Collectors Inc. activity, there is one catch...it has to be related to your collection. Stamp collectors can created a birthday themed stamp, avatar collectors can make a birthday themed avatar, and so on. Not an image master? That is ok! Vivid descriptions will also be accepted! So that you are not left totally in the dark about what I am talking about, I have an example below for each type of entry!

My idea for a birthday item is an Ona Birthday Blower. The tube is white with a coloured confetti design and the feet are attached to the tube. When you blow on the end, the ona's starry antennae uncurls and it makes a party blower noise. The description will be: this Party Blower is cute and useful too!
