It was a night just like any other night. Figures. All stories start the same way. Everything is normal and dandy and then THIS happens. Well, this story starts on a note that one would not expect. Well, I'm dead. Were you expecting that? You were? Oh... well moving on...
I am dead. I am a ghost. That's basically the background you need. MY death was an accident- I'm sure it was. Bobby would have never let those Gangsters come in here and destroy everything would he? I certainly hope not. Well, Bobby moved on, yet I am stuck here for some reason. All alone in this lonely house. Except in the summer. That's when everyone one comes over. This home I was killed in has turned into a casual sort of a motel, like a Bed and Breakfast. It's a nice place- owned by a nice old lady who smiles and wave when I try to make myself notice. Visitors on the other hand... not so much.

-People who scared of her
-Skeptics who ignore her
-Being unable to fully communicate with the living
A sigh. A whisper. No matter how loud I scream and yell, that is all you hear. I may run into you, but only a burst of cold air is all you feel. Your heart begins to race, your hairs stand on end. You yell who's there, and believe me, I try to answer, but you just understand. You can't. We live, or exist, on different levels, of course you won't be able to understand me.

Miss, we can't stay here anymore. The old woman looked up with disappointment. Oh why? You just got here an hour ago. Plus, it's very late, you all must be tired. The man looked at her, guilty at what he is saying. I know, and we are, but the noises, the bumps in the night, it's too much for the girls. Behind him his wife was holding a crying infant and a toddler was close at her side with red eyes still full of tears. I really do apologize...
The old woman sighed. Kakorae will not hurt anyone, I promise you that. She's just looking for attention. The old woman walked past the family and stood at the bottom of the stairs. Kakorae! you must let these kind people sleep. They are exhausted! The five of them stood quite, waiting for a response. The lights flickered twice. Okay, we're leaving. The man said again as his daughters started to cry again. I'm so sorry, she's such trouble sometimes. She walked to her desk where she kept the records of her guests. Here's your cash back and receipt. She handed the cash back with a smile. No worries, you are not the first to leave early. The man and woman smiled back apologetically and left. After they left, the old woman looked at her watch. 2:15am. She sighed to herself. Oh Kakorae, what am I going to do with you? She turned off all of the lights and went to bed.
Right after the old woman left, a younger woman entered the living room from the stairs. Wearing a 1920's flapper dress and sporting a pixie cut, she made her way to the front window, watching the minivan disappear around the corner. As a ghostly tear fell from one of her eyes, she faded away in a cloud of mist.
Kakorae didn't like the daytime. It was when people are the most busy, and if she ever does make an attempt to get noticed, people shrug it off. At night, on the other hand, people's minds are empty. Well for the most part. This is when they sit back and relax. This is the time when they are most likely to notice her. Kakorae's usual routine involves jumping on the bed and yelling at the person. The result- a slight feeling of someone watching you and a light soft whisper from no one. She can tell when the guests hear or feel her, because they usually get scared and leave the building. Others get angry, yelling at her to leave them alone (also these people receive weird looks from others). But most ignore her completely, refusing to accept her presence.
It was in the middle of the summer, tourist season, but the B&B was empty. It wasn't that the old lady wasn't getting any customers; she closed it for a particular reason. Oh Liam I'm so glad you were able to come! Kakorae manifested in the living room. No one was able to see her though, for which Kakorae was grateful sometimes. She stood in the corner, out of the way, watching the old woman talking with two men. /Curious.../ she thought to herself. One of the men was talking with the old woman about staying the night alone, but the other one was looking around the room, sort of on edge.
And we are so glad to be here Mrs. Mleay, the old woman laughed Oh please! Call me Agatha, or better yet, Aggie The man nodded. Okay Aggie. We have heard so much about your house, we are so eager to start, right Dave? He turned to his companion. Oh yea, Liam, I can sense her presence already. Kakorae gasped. /Are they talking about me?/ She got excited, but at the same time, nervous. Where they talking about her? All her time here, only Aggie openly acknowledged her, and then these two strangers...
Dave looked around the room again, this time he walked around as well, with his arms out in front of him. Liam and Aggie watched him. Oh... there she is He walked right to where Kakorae was standing. He waved his arms again, this time waving them right through Kakorae, she was in shock- he knew where she was. Hey Liam come here, feel this spot- it's freezing! Liam made his way over and felt the air as well /Okay this is gonna stop/ And Kakorae ran right through them, toward the other side of the room. WHOA! Did you feel that?! It went right through us!
Behind them Aggie laughed. No one has ever done that to Kakorae before, you probably insulted her! It's okay Kakorae Aggie said to no one in the room. These young men are here to help you. They want to talk to you. Hearing this Kakorae was thrilled. She can finally communicate. Maybe even be able to move on.
I'm excited now. Liam said to Dave, who nodded in agreement. Kakorae, we will be back tonight. We will bring instruments with us that will hopefully make it more easy for us to communicate with each other. Is that okay with you? Kakorae walked up to Liam in admiration and excitement. She looked into his eyes who were looking at something and nothing at the same time. /Yes/ Dave, I'm getting that chill again. I think that's a yes.
Later that night they came back. Kakorae was overwhelmed with curiosity and fascination. They were sitting at the dining room table with Aggie, discussing her past and their plans for the night. Can you please tell us about the history of this house and of Kakorae's death? Liam said. He turned on a recorder and set it on the table in front of him. I'll leave this recording just in case we pick up any voices that are not our own. We might hear Kakorae try to talk to us, and with this recorder going we might be able to pick her up. In a louder tone, directing at Kakorae, he announced. If you want to say anything to us, anything at all, please, He held up the recorder, Speak into this. He set it back down...... Kakorae was his honored guest -grrrr... how I hated him- ... Wait-
Kakorae was so excited. They will be able to hear her, but what should she say? It takes a lot of energy for her to get a statement across to the living, even if it's only a whisper. After not getting anything, Liam motioned for Aggie to begin.
This house was built in 1890. It served only as a home to a family for some time, nothing unusual. But, in height of the prohibition, this house severed as a popular meeting area. A lot of parties were held here. Kakorae smiled to herself at the memories. One night, Bobby Melday held a party here, lasting all night long. Kakorae was his honored guest. At this Kakorae growled. That no good lying Bobby. /How I hated him.../
Wait.. Dave said, interrupting the story, Did you hear that? I heard a growl- Liam, play back the recorder Liam took the recorder and fiddled with it then pressed play...
Aggie had a look of shock, but it was nothing compared to Kakorae's. That was her voice, on a recorder. They heard her! Sure it was scratchy from the playback, but they heard her! Liam laughed. Looks like Kakorae didn't like this Bobby. I'm glad that she's responding already, Aggie laughed as well Well of course she didn't like him, it was partly his fault that she died! You see, Bobby didn't have the best of friends. So that night they came and crashed their party. Bobby owed them money, but he didn't have any. So they took liberty and openly fired... Not wanting to go into detail, Aggie changed the subject. After that the house was abandoned, and then I come along and open it up back in the 70's. 40 years later I still get customers, but a lot of them leave after one night.
At this point Kakorae was ashamed. She felt bad for Aggie. It was her fault that she is struggling to keep this place up. /I'm sorry/
Aggie looked up suddenly. Did you hear that? Liam and Dave nodded. As clear as day. He said. They didn't even need to play it back on the recorder. She said she's sorry.
Okay, hour one in our over night lockdown. I am Liam and I am here with my fellow investigator, Dave. We are investigating the spirit of Kakorae, who has been haunting this Bed and Breakfast ever since Aggie opened it up. Liam was speaking into his voice recorder, while Dave was standing next to him looking around. They were both holding small video cameras with night vision on. Otherwise, the place was pitch black. Both of their hearts were racing, but instead of fear, it was excitement.
...this can catch it.... -No.... wait.. Frank!-
Liam and Dave have been investigating haunted locations for five years, and they always left with solid evidence of a supernatural spirit that made home in that particular location. Tonight will not break their record.
Dave, how about you go upstairs, Aggie told us that the room on the corner had the most activity. I'll set up a camera down here and then I'll join you. Okay. All of a sudden, the two men heard footsteps. Did you hear that?! Those footsteps- Shh-shshhh! The two men stood still as footsteps were walking from one end of the dining room to the other... Sounds like Kakorae knows we're here, I'll go investigate.
As Dave made his way upstairs, Liam went to the corner and turned on a third video camera on a tripod. I am setting up this camera so that if anything happens down here while me and Dave are upstairs, this can catch it.
At that moment, Liam heard a whisper. It was quick, but it definitely was a whisper. With a shocked look in his face, he rewound his recorder to see if he caught it.
Whose Frank? Liam yelled to no one. Kakorae, whose Frank? After not hearing a response, he slowly crossed the room and went upstairs to join Dave.
/Oh no/ Kakorae thought to herself. Aggie never told them. Then again, Aggie doesn't know. Frank. The leader of that group that murdered her. He's upstairs. He's going to hurt them. He always hides out in the attic, and only comes down on rare occasions, but when he does come down... /I have to warn them/
Kakorae? Dave said, walking into one of the bedrooms upstairs. He was looking through his small night vision screen on the camera. Are you in here? Dave quickly turned around- he thought he heard something. Kakorae was that you? There it was. Again. He turned around, heart rate rising. This wasn't Kakorae. This was someone else. Whose there? Dave started to feel nauseous. Ugh... Liam? Liam! Where are you?-x-
Moments passed before Liam made his way into the room. Hey Dave- what's wrong? He saw through his own screen that Dave was leaning on the wall, hunched over. Dave? Dave! Are you okay?! He rushed over to his friend. He took mental note of the cold air that he seemed to walk through. Ugh.. I'll be fine, but I feel nauseous... My head hurts, and I feel... so.... Angry. This isn't Kakorae Liam, someone else is here. Liam slowly stood up, surprised about the news. I'll be fine, try to talk to him-
Liam looked back at the room in front of him. Whose there? Show yourself. If you want to say something, just speak into this red light. Holding up the recorder he continued. SAY SOMETHING! And then he saw it.
No- WHOA- Dave did you see that!? behind him Dave stood back up. No, what was it?
/What are you doing down here? Leave them alone!/ Kakorae stood at the doorway. In the room, Dave stood by himself Looking in the room. Kakorae? /Go AWAY!/ Are you in here? He stood right behind Dave. Dave didn't know there was anyone standing behind him, but Kakorae knew. /FRANK! Did you hear me?/ The figure turned to her, complete in a pinstripe suit. -Shut it, little one- Dave quickly turned around. Kakorae, was that you? Frank laughed. -I'm having fun.- His deep voice rumbled. He walked behind Dave again and mocked, -Boo!-
Dave turned around again. Whose there? Ugh... Liam? Liam! Where are you? /What are you doing Frank? Why are you here?/ Frank kept laughing at Dave as he began to lean on the wall and hunch over. -I love doing that.- Then he turned to Kakorae. -Look, Doll. It's not everyday I get to play with these bozos. Just get outta here and let me enjoy myself for once.- /Number one./ She marched right up to Frank. Behind her Liam entered the room. Dave? Dave! Are you okay? He walked right through the two ghosts. /He knows we're here. You don't need to hurt them. They just want to talk. And two- do NOT. Call me Doll./ Frank just stared at her. -Look toots, you think I wanted to stay here? There's nothing they can do. We're stuck. So, better make the most of it.- Whose there? Kakorae saw Frank make a look on his face.
/Frank..?/ -I wanted to do this for a loong time...- Frank's eyes started to glow a ghostly red and his teeth sharped. /Frank- no! leave them alone!/ Kakorae grabbed his arm. /I said.../ She grasped his arm with all her strength. /Leave them../ SAY SOMETHING! /ALONE!!/ Using all of the energy she could muster, she threw Frank across and out of the room. All of a sudden, she felt something she never felt before. She felt solid, and around her a light glow. She turned to look at Liam. He was looking straight into her eyes. And just as fast as the feeling started, it ended.
No-WHOA! Dave, did you see that?!
The next morning Kakorae stood in the corner of the dining room. She looked up at the ceiling. Frank was still up there, but Kakorae's stunt last night gave her good feeling that Frank will stay up there for a long time. She was now playing a new role in the house- Protector.

Sitting at the table, Liam, Dave and Aggie were discussing last night's lock down. Kakorae smiled to herself- Liam still looked like he saw a ghost. I saw her. With my own eyes... He played the camera on the laptop on the table. The three of them looked closely as a thick white mist formed in the doorway of the room upstairs. I know it's just a mist, but with my own eyes... I saw her face. I looked into her eyes. He then looked at Kakorae. She stiffened. She knew he couldn't see her now, but she felt that a connection was made, and now, he just knew. He smiled at her, and she smiled back.
Orb the Ghost Baby Fireball
It takes an extreme amount of energy to manifest fully to become visible to the living. Most of the time, I can only be seen as a floating orb, just like Orbsie here. He is not included in my story, but when Liam or Dave see me, it will most likely be in the form of something comparable to my Ghost Baby Fireball.
