Press F11 Prologue Swish The sand whips around you, scratching your eyes and whistling through your hair. You narrow your eyes, but sand still gets into them. The sandstorm is all around you; there is not another thing in sight. You stagger on, desperate to find shelter. Hah! Not likely in the middle of the desert. It's not the Lost Desert you've wandered into; it's a desert just off there, near the mountains at the bottom of the map. You have no idea where civilisation is; you are completely alone. The sand rips past you, and you fall to your knees. You duck down, waiting for the sandstorm to pass. After what seemed like an eternity, the storm dies down. You stand up, sand falling from your back as you look around you. It is a vast landscape; to the south are the high mountains in the far distance; everywhere else is endless sand. You shout with anger, kicking sand up from the ground. "That won't get you anywhere." You jump as a steady voice comes up behind you. You whip around to see a medium-sized yellow Lupe. It is a very strange Lupe indeed. From its head falls a thick tuft of fur, tied back with a thin piece of brown rope. Its pointed ears are studded with earrings, mostly studs but one hoop on its right ear. It has dark green eyes, like emeralds, and across its left eye is a wicked-looking scar. Around its neck is a black leather band, studded with white stones. It has similar bands around each of its front paws, and on its left shoulder is a scar like slashes from claws. Its back legs, near its paws, are wrapped in some sort of green material. When you look closer, you are surprised to see that it is grass. Another piece of grass is wound around the base of its long, bushy tail. It is quite small, but there are large muscles beneath its skin. "I am Kahrne. Lone Desert Stalker." You blink, surprised. "I'm-I'm guest" Kahrne nods. He sounds male. "But yet, the title Lone Desert Stalker does not fit me, because I am not entirely alone." You are about to ask what he means when something flaps past your ear. A strange bird lands on Kahrne's shoulder. Its feet have long, dark-grey claws on them, which dig into Kahrne's shoulder blades. "OW!" Kahrne snarls at the bird, who flaps gently to the ground, gazing at you with inquisitive yellow eyes. It has a long, curved beak the same colour as its claws, and it has beautiful orange-red feathers. Its pale belly is ruffled, and around its neck is an odd necklace. "Plr!" The bird caws, flying up to sit on Kahrne's head. "This is Juatti. He's my Djuti." You blink at the odd bird, who flaps its wings, and flies off again. "He's my only companion in this desert. He comes and goes as he pleases." You grin, and watch Juatti fly away. Kahrne turns and walks away. "Hey, wait!" You say. Kahrne swivels around, and sighs. "Fine. Come with me. I'm heading for the oasis. That's where Juatti's headed, too." You grin, and run after the Lupe.
Your feet are getting very hot, but Kahrne seems to have some sort of pad on his paws that doesn't feel heat. You are also sweating as the sun is beating down on you, but, yet again, Kahrne seems to have some sort of heat-reflective fur. "I'll tell you about my past"
I was born in the very oasis we are heading to. At one time, there was a massive clan of Desert-dweller Lupes. My mother and father were top of the ranks, the most highly respected Lupes. They needed a child to take their place when they died, so that our family could carry on leading this clan. My grandfather's father was leader; maybe even his father's grandfather. All I knew was that our family had lead the Desert-dwellers for generations. I knew that I had a twin brother, but my mother and father never spoke of him, so I was to be leader. When my mother had me, my father immediately took me to the oasis to be cleansed in order to be fit to lead when my parents died. Many Lupes gathered to watch, gawping at the leader's child. My father named me 'Kahrne', which in my language means 'Born Leader'. I had absolutely no idea what was going on, being so young, so I just blinked my green eyes and swished my tail. My father stood for hours doing the ceremony for the next leader when he died, and when he had finally finished, I had fallen asleep. He returned me to my mother, and I slept next to her. She was warm, and I was happy. For a while. Two years on It was hectic on the morning of my second birthday. News passed quickly around that the leader, my father, was dead. I had no idea of what was going on, until my mother woke me up from my sleep. I snapped at her, and tried to go back to sleep, but she dragged me out of our shelter. She lead me to the oasis, where my father lay dead at my feet. "The leader is dead. His mate will be moved down the ranks and his child will become leader." I blinked. I was almost fully-grown, but to be told that I was to lead a clan of over twenty Lupes was overthrowing. The rest of the clan, including my mother, were grinning at me hopefully. I sighed. I was never a confident pup, and I'm still not confident now. I was very shy as a child. But I had to think of my mother, so I had to lead the clan. "I am Kahrne, son of the leader. I am the leader reborn!" The Lupes cheered at my words, and came to congratulate me. I knew I should be proud, but I wasn't. I was too young to lead an entire clan. I just stalked off to my shelter, away from the celebrations. That night, I heard a commotion outside. Someone was shouting, and then the scrabble of claws on sand. I poked my head out of my shelter. I gasped. The ground was soaked with blood, and corpses were thrown everywhere. Heads of Lupes were strewn across the red sands, and shelters were destroyed. A young Fire Lupe; older than me, but still young, came over to me. I recall that his name was Turran, which meant 'Dead Flames' in our native tongue. "L-leader, how could you do this" I blinked, hardly believing what I was hearing. They blamed me, ME of all people, to do this. "We know it was you because we saw you." I gasped. I had been in the shelter all night. Unlessmy mother had told me of my twin brother, Na'Karrith, whose name meant 'Ancient Evil'. She told me that when I was born, Na'Karrith was taken by a Lupe from another clan whilst it was my turn to be purified. My mother believed he was taken by our mortal enemies, the Lost Desert Lupe pack. If he was my twinhe must have destroyed everything. He wanted to lead. But he did not know where I wasI gasped again as someone struck my eye with a knife, gauging a long slash down it. "Brother." I opened my eyes to see a mirror reflection of myself. I snarled. "Now you shall pay for what you've done" And with that, Na'Karrith had disappeared just as the clan Elder came and grabbed me by the scruff. ."The dishonourable leader shall perish in his father's grave." The Elder chanted, pouring my father's ashes over my nose. He wound grass around my back legs and on my tail, and attached my father's old bands around my neck and paws. I snarled, and struggled to break free. The bindings held tight. The Elder grasped a knife, brought it down on my chest anda squawk filled the air. A large Djuti pecked the knife away. "The ancient knife!" The clan forgot about me, and ran after the Djuti. I grabbed my chance. I broke free of the bindings, and found some rope. I had a thick tuft of fur on my head which kept getting in my eyes, so I tied it back. Then I ran. I ran into the Shena Desert, away from the oasis, away from my old life. By the time the clan had returned, I was gone. I was no longer Kahrne the shy one. I learned that I could trust no-one. No-one at all. Kahrne sighs. "Since then I've wandered these deserts. Long ago, the clan fled the oasis, thinking it was cursed. Na'Karrith is dead. I killed him. The Djuti, Juatti, returned to me. He's been my only friend for months." You blink. Kahrne hands you a scroll which has his stats written across it.
Name: Kahrne
Gaz; Gaz is a demon; he can't do anything but destroy and kill. He doesn't understand anything. But then again, he probably feels that no-one can understand him. Poor guy. Growl; Aww. Man. He makes me feel so guilty. He's a tortured soul, bless him. Filthy humans. snarl- They leave him half-dead. Humans make me so angry. Aer; Aerine is a sweet little kid. She's kind of in her own little world all the time. I've only met her once, though. Sulvis; I have not met Sulvis. Those of my family who I have met say that he is kind and loyal. I must meet him to make up my own mind. Mirzon; Mirzon lives way up in the clouds above Mystery Island. I've not met him. Lae; Laemaria is another prankster, but he is worse than Shoy because he is a ghost. He can walk through walks and such. He's only met me once. Tia; Tianeli's always lived far, far away from where I am. I have not met her. Canti; Cantible is very happy-go-lucky. She can get very irritating. Usually she stays away from the desert, thank goodness. Johannn; Johannn is a very grumpy blumaroo. He has no feelings for anyone but himself. He lives in the Lost Desert, which is the place I despise. Stupid fool. Jak; Jakubara thinks that I am ok, but I am not that fond of him. He bullies most of the others, even his own sister. He's worse to his sister than anybody else, actually. Silberna; She's a shy, sweet girl. She's Jakubara's twin sister, but she's kind of scared of him. Bless her. Ezza; Feztive hates Christmas and all that it stands for. She's ok.
Love
Juatti is my Djuti. He's a bit odd, and very stupid, but he saved my life and helped me to escape. He's my only friend out here in the desert. He mostly stays in the oasis, where there's water and such, but he comes when I call for him. He's a good friend.
