Jaision City. A bustling place where dreams linger around every corner. A place where airplanes and cars take to their runways while citizens take to the sidewalks, heading for their monotonous desk jobs. Everything goes along in an ordely fashion. At six in the morning the sun rises and the majority wake from their deep slumber. Then at eight, the first trickle of workers come out of their shells and start for their daily shift. By ten o'clock nearly everyone is out and about. And by mid-day, everything is in full swing. People head for their lunch breaks, tourists head for the attractions and stray dogs and cats scavenge for a bite to eat. And this is about the time when Jyson makes his appearance, scampering away from the latest hired dog catcher.

Established in the late 1800s, Jaision is a relatively middle-aged city with Northeastern roots. Much like a small version of New York City, Jaision City is home to a population of around one million people and two million animals. With elegant skyscrapers and thankfully, spot-clean streets, the city of Jaision is an ideal place to live. Families have settled here for years, both human and mongrel. One family happens to be the Jaision Mutts.
Who exactly are these Mutts? Are they humans or perhaps actual mixed-breed domesticated dogs? The Jaision Mutts have been in the city ever since it was established. It all started with the first mutt, Jaision. He was a small, scruffy Jack Russell Terrier who was owned by the founder of the city. Of course, the Terrier was originally named Jaision and the city was named after him. His owner just loved his faithful companion so much. As the years progressed, Jaision had a son who soon became Jaisiun who then lived alongside the founder of the city until he too had a son who was known as Jaisson. Over the years, the name of Jaision has become distorted and changed to the liking of whoever is named it.
And that's where we come to the 5th Jaision Mutt, Jysyon. This Jack Russell did not have an owner but rather lived on the streets. Somehow, he was taken up by a scientist who preformed horrible experiments on the poor canine. Soon, Jysyon had bright green markings to go along with his terrier coat. Just another failed experiment. But Jysyon wouldn't let anything else happen to him. He escaped out of that laboratory quicker than you could say "Catch that Mutt!" And just like all the other Jaision Mutts, Jysyon was able to pass along his name down to the next predecessor.
The new generation of Jaision Mutts had a different flare to them after Jysyon. They all happened to carry similar green markings to them and they all had become street dogs rather than pets. Not many know about the Jaision Mutts but the ones who do are often related to the founder of the city itself.
And that's when we come to present day time. The current Jaision Mutt, Jyson roams the city streets without a care.
I live in a trash can. It's not a very nice trash can but it's one of the best compared to all the other strays' homes. It's made out of aluminum and can withstand rain, the sun and sometimes even wind if it's not going to fast. My trash can is nestled between 5th Avenue and Pine Street. There's an alleyway right between Mike's Pizza and the old bookstore. You travel down the alleyway, turn right and eventually end up in a little patch of grass sandwiched between four buildings. It's kind of like a courtyard except more secret and with no trees. It's my own little home. Almost no one knows about it and the people that do find out where it is don't bother to come back. I'm just happy the dog catchers haven't found it yet. Anyway, that's where I live.
For most of the strays, food isn't that hard to find. Well, rotten and old, stinky food that is. Dumpsters are pretty much infinite around here. Mike's Pizza dumps out loads of bad pizzas so I'm nearly stuffed every single day. The workers have only caught me about once or twice eating out of their dumpsters. I'd say I'm pretty sneaky. But they don't seem to care anyway. Quite often I have a few dogs and maybe a cat or two come to share my snack. I don't mind sharing with the other stray dogs just as long as they behave. But as for the cats, let's just say they're taken care of.
It's pretty safe to say that I rule the place when it comes to the homeless animal world. Everybody listens to me and everything runs smoothly. Well, most of the time. It's just those darn dog catchers that have been chasing my tail for the past few years. They're easy to run away from if you know where to go. I'd say they're the only problem I have with this city. The citizens are fine. They mind their own business and we mind our own. It's a mutual relationship.
Yeah, I'd say I have a pretty good life. I don't need an owner. And yes, I've got a few friends. But most of the time it's just me and this lovely city. My heart's with you Jaision City and your's with me.
The blaring of carhorns and skidding of rubber on asphalt filtered in and out through his ears. These peaceful sounds were always heard absentmindedly, tossed to the barrels of his subconscious mind. He had never paid much attention to them, there were always more important things on his mind. For instance, saving himself.
He had been runing for a while now; his small feet had carried him through the International District, then through Central Park and then finally to the East Side. He was quite small for a lupe but looked rather like a normal sized dog, a terrier to be percise. In fact, he could be mistaken for a Jack Russell except if it wasn't for the oddly colored markings he adorned. Though most believed it to be paint.

So, who was after him? The dog catchers of course. The trouble-causing lupe was always known to be at the top of the list for "dogs wanted". But dogs were rather stupid compared to lupes so this rascal could easily outsmart any dog catcher.
Jyson moved swiftly through the nicely kept yards of the East Side's most prestigious mansions. The home owners wouldn't be too happy to see flattened lilies the next time they decided to look at their precious gardens. It wouldn't be too much of a devastation, hopefully.
His head whipped back slowly to catch a glimpse of a rather portly man trying to prod him with catch pole. A quick dodge to the side and a scamper under a rose bush was all that was needed to escape. His legs propelled themselves off a ledge before he found himself trotting along a major street that led back to the city. Just where he was planning on heading.
No friends yet. o:
Zeik made adoptables! Yes, I know they're horribly hideous but I had to make them sometime. xD
