The Run Down
I would like to take this chance to welcome you all to the first edition of the OPD Cloofinder. My hope with this newsletter is to provide you with a few fun things to read and to keep you up to date with our activities. The plan at this time is to put out one newsletter a month. I had originally hoped for every two weeks, but I thought that this would be better for the time being. I would like for anyone who has suggestions and ideas to please write me. I have a few articles planned for the future issues, but I would love more. I would like to add a comic strip section eventually. So those of you who are handy with graphics get crative and send me something funny. One section will also be used to keep the current plot items all in one place. I will update tehm as they happen so should you be unable to get to the guild board or something you can always come here and check for the newest links. Directions for steps will probably be best found on the boards or the guild boards, but this will have a quick link to the comics and any current puzzles.
I hope that you all enjoy this. Please forgive the offset of our scroll toppers… the neo changes did have some effect on the pet pages and we are hoping to get this fixed soon. I thought it best to get the newsletter out rather than delay it yet again. I appreciate everyone's patience on this. *HUGS* Please enjoy and as always, my inbox is always open.

Ask the Meepits.. Guild Q&A
Q: If Meepits took over the world, what are our chances of ever having another groovy plot? ~Katzie7
A: What do you mean IF... they already have! Meepits are behind all things groovy on Neopets, everyone knows that. So of course we will always have something groovy to do on Neopets. Now whether or not we keep our sanity...
Q: Who is ChaoticBoom and why did he start OPD? ~ kiwi17444
A: Chaoticboom is a neopets player who back in teh Lost Desert Plot decided that all of us plotters needed a great place to meet and share during and inbetween plots. He had a really neat idea that those of us who met and made friends on the boards would like a more permenant place with activities and other things to do. Sadly, due to real life issues beyond his control, he has not been able to be with us. I hope that some day these issues will resolve themselves. Until then I hope to keep OPD going in the spirit he intended.
Q: Is there a chance of a future another snowball throw? It was tremendously fun last time! ~Katzie7
A: I would LOVE to see another snowball throw or perhaps another item befitting another occasion. If you would like to see another event like this one or have ideas for one, please mail either stampingqueen2 or dreww355 and we will see what we can come up with.
If you have questions for the editorial, please mail them to Stampingqueen2.

The Meepit.
By: Katzie7
A pink Spooky Petpet with large black eyes that never blink, short blunt arms, a stout body and large feet. Whilst being seemingly pure and angelic, many Neopians find something freaky with its staring eyes – its attempt to appear innocent, fascination with the Neopian race, or just its normal, glossy-eyed facial -disallowed_word- most distinguished for his continuous efforts to take over – which has yet to succeed – Neopia) and trying to control Neopia. Whether planning to do so on its own, with a large tribe of all existing Meepits in Neopia or in allegiance with Dr. Sloth, we have yet to know. However, it is unknown whether this is a fact, an inside joke of TNT or just a hoax – but come on, would someone play a trick that cruel? In this article we look at the different aspects of the Meepit. Is it an angelic, lovely, misunderstood, perfectly innocent little pink Petpet with such a ghastly reputation it's almost being led to believe that it's the truth? Is it just an average, normal, everyday Petpet, its name darkened by a fantasising Neopian, on its quest to return home? Or is there more to it than meets the eye? We shall see.
The Meepit was first introduced on 15th October, 2001 in NeoQuest. It was called a Pygmy – an apparently cute name, making the reader imagine a sort of puffy, fluffy elf-like creature – which, collectively, were a tribe of ferocious creatures which had taken over a research centre (who would have thought?). This is the only time that its evil nature had been revealed, so it may be the source of all Neopians' fears – or is it all a secret scheme to rid Neopia of all this adorable species of Petpets?
However, not many Neopians realise that the Meepit is the most misunderstood petpet in the whole of Neopia. Not the squealing, annoying Kadoaties. Not the edible Grackle Bug (oops, did I say that out loud?). Not the almost-blind Karren. MEEPITS.
The Meepit is rare (r98) so it is a very wanted and expensive petpet. The lowest as of 25th January, 2007 is 1.8 million NPs at the Trading Posts. It also restocks at the Spooky Petpet shop. It can also be combined with two different items at the Cooking Pot in Mystery Island. Combined with the Fishing Kiko Gnome, a Fishing Meepit Statue is created, whilst mixing with the petpet Roburg 3T3, a petpet called Romeep 3T3 is made, both of which are treasured beyond your imagination. They can also be painted all sorts of fascinating colours – to disguise their evil scheme, or just to attempt to blend into the colourful Neopia atmosphere? Meepits come in: Pink (original colour), Blue, Yellow, Green, Christmas, Faerie, Tyrannian, Fire, Grey, White, Ghost, Red, Island, Dung, Snow, Pirate, Mutant, Starry, Robot and Disco, all of which are seemingly adorable – but who knows what goes on in their scheming little minds? Fluffy white clouds with pink dancing Elephantes? Or something more than that?
Meepits star in the game Meepit Juice Break, an addicting, brilliant game where the player feeds the poor, thirsty Meepits. Whilst apparently patient, the Meepits can drop down and faint out of thirst, so the player must be accurate in linking the pipes for the Meepit(s) to quench their suffering. Poor little Meepits. Who put them there in the first place? Well, no more than good ole POSG – Ollie – the orange shirt guy with a tattoo, you remember him? It was him who captured the wild, free Meepits and stuck them inside some silly software for Neopians to dote themselves silly on. Meepits had no choice – what else could they do? Take over the world? Don't be silly.
Upon scoring 3500+ points in Meepit Juice Break you can also receive the elusive, one-and-only Meepit avatar! Get one while you still can!
Meepits also appeared much more recently in the ToW – Tale of Woe – plot, where they served as a guide to Illere's den in the spooky forest of the Haunted Woods. They star as Ghost Meepits, wandering on their everyday quest when the player would suddenly appear and attempt to catch them. Naturally frightened, the Meepits would flee, until the player is able to obtain Ghost Meepit Juice from Sophie the Swamp Witch, then the player will be able to lure the unawares Meepit into his or her captivity. After capturing seven of this species, they will dance. Oh the joyful dancing! It fills the whole Woods with ease and happiness – oh what's that? Should the player place Meepits in the wrong place, they will be sad – poor little Meepits!
Not only did Meepits get no recognition, credit nor fame for their brave endeavours during their roles in regular plots – note that they didn't appear as villains nor as thieves as so many Neopians claim and stereotype about these Petpets – they got a bad reputation, a ruined name and an annoyingly fast inflating price on the Trading Post. Is this actually fair? Your reporter personally witnessed the Food Shop Chia yelling after several scurrying Meepits "Meeping Dung!". Such shocking, disgusting language is not to be tolerated. We urge Neopians to stand up against stereotyping, unfair judgement against Meepits. These said Meepits were only attempting to get food – to buy them, no less. Not stealing, not foraging, not tricking nor begging – but buying.
Meepits have also proven themselves to be loyal, trustworthy petpets. When interviewing a Pirate Kougra who wishes to remain anonymous, he claims that the Meepit that has followed him for all his life has "never left my side, not once, apart form when I broke my paw and he had to run to my owner to fetch help. I wouldn't be here now if it weren't for him then!" then, nodding positively, left with a trotting Meepit by his side.
Mrs Azparr Rah-Gus of 56, Virtupets End Lane, said that her collection of the vast colours of Meepits has "brightened my household from its dreary grey to now a rainbow glisten!". She claims that her Meepits "have never betrayed me for anyone, regardless of how much anyone offers them – or me, for that matter – to buy them off to goodness knows where! But they know where their home is; I'll give them that. Cute little things" she declared.
It has been noted that eight out of ten Meepits feel discouraged when wandering in Neopia with their owner Pets and their owners, being stared at and whispered about behind hands. Survey also shows that nine out of ten Meepits prefer quiet cushion warming than knife throwing at pictures of Dr. Sloth (surveys are able to take place via our very able linguist who can speak Meep). So far Meepits have not had any trouble with Neopia – nor have they had any apparent link with Dr. Sloth – poor misunderstood Meepits. They are angelic-looking, purely innocent and absolutely carefree Petpets – they are not minions of Dr. Sloth – they are the Petpets of the future!
No Meepits are hurt in the making of this article, guaranteed.

FUDGESADOPTIONS!
When I first started on Neo I was awed and amazed at all the pretty colors pets could be. But of course it was a long time before I got any painted pets! My first painted pet was my Halloween Uni. A very kind friend gave me a paint brush as a birthday pressie! She knew I had fallen in love with the Nightsteed!
Shortly after that I got enough neopoints together to buy the lab map! Well I labbed and labbed and got lots of pretty colors but I really, really wanted a Darigan Peophin! Finally the Fountain Fairy came to the party and thus Rylar became the color she was always meant to be!
Meanwhile I continued to lab my Battle pet Gurarita. The thing was every time she became a new color I got such a thrill and I knew there was someone somewhere that really would have liked a pet that color! And thus my dream of having an Adoptions account was born!
I just knew there were a lot of great pets out there that would not be in the pound if they were "made pretty". I myself have only ever pounded one of my own pets. I pounded a beautiful cloud Gelert because I really, really, really wanted a Lutari. As you can see Shafaeria fits right in to our little family!
So now I have my adoptions account called fudgesadoptions, in case you didn't guess! I spend some time every night playing with and labbing a set of great pets! Although it makes me cry every time I pound one of my labbed pets I know they are going to better home than they would have had if they had stayed red or yellow or blue or green and I also get to go and save another pet from the pound too!
There is nothing quite like the thrill of that perfect color just magically appearing on the boring yellow grarrl I just adopted from the pound!
One last thing if you want to see just what I have achieved please go to uni_billabong's pet page to have a look at all of the beautiful pets I have found new homes for!
Next Time: What it costs to set up an Adoptions Account and how to pick which pet to save from the pound!
