What is a ratio?
A ratio, if you want me to get technical on you, is a proportional relation between two numbers. In this case, the ratio refers to the number of points scored in the game in comparison to the number of neopoints earned per play.
Why do the ratios change?
As quoted by TNT
here, "In an attempt to balance the amount of Neopoints earned among all the different games Neopets has to offer, the NP to score ratio for any particular game may change from time to time so be sure to keep an eye on the ratio for your favorite games!" Another reason often quoted for the ratio changes is for the sake of not having to play the same games month in and month out. I found some of my favorite games because they paid well in a past ratio change; you never know if you'll like a game until you try it.
When do the ratios change?
The ratios change sometime on the 25th day of each month. So far, there is no pattern on the hour of the change, so play the quick neopoint games early on the 25th of each month.
What happened?!? I got 1000 neopoints for only (low score) in ______, but now I only got 250 neopoints!! Is this a glitch?!?
No, don't worry, this is not a glitch. As stated in the previous two questions, TNT changes the ratios on the 25th of each month, in an attempt to balance the economy. There are other high scoring games now, so try those instead for better earning potential!
How does TNT change the ratios? Do they use a program or do it manually?
TNT has stated in a past
Editorial that the ratios are changed using a program. The speculation is that they are trying to balance the economy to an average score sent worth 300 points per game. That would explain why the
Fashion Fever ratio never changes and is set at 300 neopoints per play.
How do you calculate the score needed to earn 1,000 neopoints for each game?
This is more simple than most people realize. All you need to do is divide 1000 by the current ratio.
1000/ratio = neopoints. Or, since I've already calculated everything for your use, feel free to use the above chart. ^_^
Are some games not affected by the ratio changes?
All games can be potentially changed; however, a 3D Life Player game has never changed, and only once has a Shockwave game changed. Therefore, it's usually safe to say that these games are nearly constant, while all other games are fair play.
Shouldn't _____ be highlighted in yellow? It's a good and easy game!
I take these requests into consideration; however, it is good to remember that not all Neopians find all games easy. I try to highlight games that either have had a highly increased ratio since the last change, or that the majority of Neopians would be able to easily score 1,000 neopoints in per game.
What happens if you start the game before the ratio changes and send score afterward? What ratio will you get?
You will receive neopoints with whichever ratio is set when you send score, regardless of what the ratio was when you opened the -blocked- In other words, you will get the new ratio.
Is it possible to influence which games TNT chooses to change?
Individually, no. However, during a site event, such as the Daily Dare or Games Master Challenge, millions of Neopians are sending low game scores to beat the challenges, so yes, scores sent and number of plays DO in fact affect the game ratios.
Can I be your neofriend?
Feel free to request me if you would like to bookmark my page or my lookup in case you need to ask a question. ^_^ I will not reject; however, I will not accept either. I want to leave my neofriends list to close friends only. Thanks for understanding!
