I can extend it, but I would prefer not to unless you have a good reason. Have your transfer for either November or December open (either is fine with me, but I would prefer not to wait any longer than December).

Rules

• Before applying, be aware of the following things:
• If you are interested in applying, please neomail me and let me know of your intentions before you start your application. Some of my pets are lab rats and if you start making an application without telling me only to find that the pet has changed color or species before you submit it, that is your own fault. Also, don't just tell me on the boards, because chances are I'll lose your username. I occasionally send out updates to applicants, usually including deadline reminders and changes, so if you want updates or me to remember that you're applying, you have to mail me (updates will also be posted in the "updates" section).
• I do NOT want you to trade any of my fosters. If you plan to do so after you adopt, please do not bother to apply. If you ever decide you don't want a pet you adopt from me anymore, neomail me. I will most likely take the pet back.
• All pets will be sent via the transfer option and not the pound. I can wait for accounts to age and such, but please be aware that I will not risk the pound. I might make exceptions for some of the basic pets, but that will be decided on a case to case basis.
• Just because you apply for a pet does not guarantee that you will be chosen as the new owner. I usually have multiple people applying for the same pet, and I can only choose one person. In addition, if I can not find an owner I deem suitable to adopt the pet, I do not have to adopt the pet out at all. Please keep this in mind because I am rather attached to some of these pets.
• I am not selling these pets in any way. If you are chosen to adopt one of my pets, the only form of payment you will be required to pay is the pound fees.
• I am not trading any of these pets. Period. If I ever decided to trade one of my pets, they would not be listed here.
• I hold the right to take a pet down from being up for adoption if I so choose. It is not very likely that I will do so, but I'm just throwing this up here on the chance that I might ever want or need to.

• Please make sure to do all of this in your application:
• List all your current accounts; tell which is your main.
• Tell which account you will be adopting on.
• Tell your plans for the pet ("I'll feed and play with -pet name here-" doesn't really cut it; everybody says that).
• Tell why you want the pet.
• Tell me a little about yourself on Neo (what kind of stuff do you do, how do you treat your pets, ect.).
• Feel free to add as much extra stuff as you like. Actually, I highly encourage this.

Note about applications: They can be either neomail or pet page; it is entirely your choice. However, if you make a pet page, make sure to include a disclaimer that you chose to make the application, and that I didn't force you to.

For those making pet page applications: Though I love writing and art, I hate forcing people to make excessive applications. I've done them many times myself and have never gotten the pet. I've wasted months of my life worrying about pixels. Looking back at it I regret it somewhat. I will not accept that sort of application. Yes, you can draw the pet and write about the pet if you choose, but please for my sake do not go over the top. Three pictures is more than enough. Though I love to read and appreciate lengthy stories, don't write a ton of the story unless I've already chosen you as the new owner, please? My pets probably won't receive this sort of attention, but I wanted to go ahead and say this.
Also: I dislike recommendations in applications. I find them kind of pointless, so don't bother to include them. If you do, I won't disqualify you or anything... but I'll probably just ignore them, because I don't care about them at all.

Please note: I would prefer that these pets go to permanent homes if possible. Please do not apply or ask for a pet if you do not plan to keep the pet. Like I said, if you find you cannot care for a pet or decide you no longer want the pet, please contact me and ask if I will take the pet back before you try to put the pet UFA, UFT, or pound. I'd really appreciate it.

Can I use smilies in my application? What about chatspeak?
I don't have any problem with smilies. If you want to use them, go ahead. As for chatspeak, I don't mind if you use a little (such as maybe the occasional "lol" or whatever), but please don't overuse it. I want to be able to read your application.

Will you trade...?
NO! Go away please.

May I apply for...?
You don't have to actually ask me. I'll accept applications from anybody unless you start acting like a jerk or something. ^^; It is nice when you tell me you are applying beforehand, though.

Where do you get all of the pets?
Mostly from the pound. I usually adopt pets from the pound and zap them with the lab ray. In very rare cases, you may see pets that were actually already painted a nice color when I adopted them. Some of the pets may have previously been pets that were mine or my sister's (in these cases, we probably decided that the pet was mostly rotting on our accounts and somebody else might offer the pet a better home).

Did you get my neomail?
I probably did. I don't reply to everything because... well it would take too much time or I couldn't think of anything important to say. If your neomail is something that needs a reply, please refrain from neomailing me about it again for at least forty-eight hours. I have a life, too, and I can't be online all the time. ^^;
Note: If you send me your application, and I don't reply after a week (sooner if the deadline is coming up), try sending it again. It is possible that I lost or missed it.

Are premade layouts allowed if I'm making a pet page application?
Sure. I have no problem with premade layouts. If you make your own layout or get a friend or somebody to make one specially for you, I might give bonus points, though. I like the effort. Make sure to give proper credit for anything not made by you, though. ^^

When do you decide new owners?
I'll decide new owners (usually) the day after the pet's deadline. The longest I have ever taken to announce a new owner was a week, and that was only because it was a really difficult decision and I had to go out of town for a couple days while I was still trying to decide.

When is -pet name here-'s deadline?
If the pet has a deadline, it should be stated in the pet's box in the "Pets" section. If there is no deadline listed, then one has not been set yet. I generally set deadlines for pets after I have received at least one application.

How do you change a pet's gender?
Foster pets on a lab account can have their gender changed. I can do this by battling them against the Lab Ray Scientist (a BD challenger you can only get if you have access to the lab ray) in the Battledome. When doing this, there is a chance that the pet's gender will be changed during battle. If this option is available to any of my current fosters, then the pet will have a note specifying this in their "Extras" section (in the pet's box of the "Pets" section).

What is your screen resolution?
I usually use 1680x1050 (yes, I have a rather large screen xP), but I can adjust it if I need to. Just let me know. While I'm at it, my normal browser is Mozilla Firefox, but I can also use Internet Explorer and Safari. Just let me know what your layout works best on if you think that might be a problem.

I saw *insert pet name here*'s deadline was coming up soon. Have you chosen the new owner for *insert pet name here*, yet?
Why is this even being asked? The question "When do you decide new owners?" should have answered this... I don't choose owners until after the deadline no exceptions. Also, as soon as the new owner is chosen, I announce on this page (and usually their pet look-ups, too). So... you can start applying at any time as long as the deadline hasn't past yet. o.0

Deadlines & Extensions

I have a few things to say about deadlines:

• Deadlines for a pet can be found in that pet's box (in the "Pets" section). If you want to apply for a pet, be sure to check there to see if the pet currently has a deadline.
• Deadlines are assigned when I receive an application.
• If a pet has a deadline, please get your application in by midnight NST on that date.
• I can extend deadlines, but you must ask before the deadline has passed.
• I do not choose new owners until AFTER my deadline has passed. No exceptions, so don't worry about me ever doing that.
• Lab pets will not have deadlines set. Please look for further information concerning lab rats in their section.

swagem the male Island Lenny Extra: This is my third time putting Swagem UFA. The first time the chosen owner stopped getting on Neopets for some reason, and I was unable to give Swagem to her. The second time I did not find an owner I wanted to give him to. Even though he was a foster, I'm attached to him at this point. I might keep him, but I'm not doing anything with him yet, so I'll see if I can find anybody who would take better care of him (shouldn't be terribly hard since I won't be online as much). Roleplayers and artists are loved. I always intended for him to be a permie, but I haven't been able to develop his character. I hope to find somebody who loves and cares for him more than I did. I might keep if I don't find somebody suitable. I mainly want somebody who loves his name (it was inspired by "Obsidian"; I always thought he'd make a good spotted koi or fire pet, but I could never decide on something). Feel free to keep him as he is or repaint/morph if you just like his name. I might be willing to paint her for the new owner if I find somebody who I think would be an amazing owner (a reasonable color, of course; I can't afford pirate or Maraquan, so please don't ask). I have had a request for baby... maybe, but even spending that much is kind of iffy for me because I'm currently trying to save up for a goal of my own. You have to really impress me. Churani the male Shadow Mynci Extra: I have no personal attachment to this pet. He was lab rat ever since I created him. I probably won't be harsh at all, but it's always nice to see a person who really loves a pet. It shouldn't be difficult to get him from me, but I'd rather you didn't use that as an excuse to not even put an ounce of effort in. Lab Rats

Note: Since these pets are basic, I won't require much if you want them how they are. Just tell me why you want the pet and what your plans for the pet is, and the pet could be yours. I actually prefer to wait until a pet is finished being zapped, but if you absolutely adore the pet's name and have plans for the pet, go for it (please let me know ahead of time, though). Pets will actually be zapped, so they are subject to change (and possibly be moved into the regular adoption section if I think they become something more desirable).

The Reason

Umbra is "semi-quitting"!
No, I am not leaving the site... just getting on less.

I get on Neopets way too much for my own good, so I'm looking to limit my time on here. Basically, I'm going to be clearing some pets out that I'm less attached to (just because I sort of need to anyway because they're neglected compared to my other pets ^^; ) and taking a hiatus followed by getting online a lot less.

The Effects and Changes Due to My "Semi-Quitting" .

This basically only concerns you if you were my friend, acquaintance, or current user of Dragon Adoptions. If that doesn't apply to you, you really don't have to read this. (Note: This is also going to be my outline of what I'm going to be doing over the next few weeks more or less to help me keep on track.)

The following will not go into full effect until I get everything sorted out. I will probably take a one-two week hiatus to get myself caught up on RL things without thinking too much about Neo, and then I'll try to see if I can force myself into my little regime without too much pain. xD

Site Activity After I get everything sorted out, I will try to get online during the weekends (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) and maybe once or twice during the week (probably on Wednesdays because I usually have less to do) unless I have a substantial reason to get online more. However, I do want to make an effort to limit my time and focus on school work.

My Pets There are several pets that I am keeping (Ryshime, Vladiimir, d598, Chardrou, Jjaggeh, and Tresqe). These pets I will not put UFA (or UFT for that matter), and I will continue to work on their pet pages and such. Please do not ask for them.

Miera To Miera's owner: In the event that you read this page, please understand that my decision to limit my time on Neopets will not affect how much I would love and care for Miera. If chosen to adopt, I would definitely still work on her pet page and fulfill every promise I made you for her. As part of my limiting things on Neopets, when I am online I will be trying to focus more on my pets and less on extra things like chatting with random people.

Items and Neopoints All stay with me. I'll still be playing, and I still have goals to achieve (like turning Ryshime into a draik), so I have no reason to give up my hard-earned points and items.

Dragon Adoptions Will be closing as soon as I attempt to help owners adopt out all pets currently listed. I have let that duty fall lower on my priority list than it needed anyway. So, I will try to increase my advertising and get with each of the owners to see what else I can do to help with adopting out the pets.

Umbra's Fosters I do want to continue my foster pet program, but I will probably take a huge break from it after I get these pets adopted out until I can get more work on my pet pages done.

Non Nominor (the guild I own) Will not be closing as of yet. However, I may need to find a responsible co-owner to help me out until I have more time.

The Zip. Zero. Zilch. Non-Guild (a guild I help run on a side) Since this only requires minimal effort, I will continue to help with this unless I find that I absolutely cannot.
