Low tide and high tea

The oysters are waiting for me

If I'm not there on time

I'll send my emissary

The setting sun dyes the sky a deep red, flecked with orange; The ocean laps at the white sand of a hidden cove as you step onto it. A high voice drifts towards you, wrapping you in it's lyrics and tone. The voice is quick and nimble, yet substantial and solid in your mind. Is this a siren? Having never fallen under one's charm you cant be sure, and glide along with the tune towards it's singer.

Go quietly quiet

But would that do any good

Will it hurt? No it won't

Then what am I so afraid of

Filthy victorians

They made me what I'm made of

You weave in between rocks that scatter the beach before coming to the bottom of a cliff. It streches from the edge of the beach to the sea, and seems to touch the sky. full of layers, showing the past of Neopia. You are enchanted by the song though and dive into the water, hoping to swim around the cliff and reach the singer. The water turns out to be colder than expected, and as sea water enters your ears and mouth the spell of the song is broken. Panic overtakes you and your strokes become weak and erratic, the depth of the sea calling you. Are you drowning? Someone seems to laugh, in the high voice of the singer. Darkness overtakes you and you sink, lungs full of water.

I will swallow

If it will help my sea level go down

But I'll come back to haunt you if I drown

I will swallow

If it will help my sea level go down

But I'll come back to haunt you if I drown

I will swallow

I will..

I will swallow

You gasp for breath, clenching your hands around the sand under you. Wait, sand? Weren't you drowning? You sigh, a strange feeling that you will meet the owner of this petage soon enough edges into your mind. As if right on queue a maraquan zafara bends over you, tilting her head slightly. Water drips off her ears and a water-logged bandana sits loosly on her head, her fur stuck against her face which has an annoyed -disallowed_word- any style)

The curse

Ango grins, showing rows of sharp teeth. Want to know about my curse? Fine. It's kinda confusing, I dont completly understand it, but here's the basics.

When I was a kid, the pirate ship I lived on was attacked by the meridell navy. Ya see, we kinda... oh, doesn't matter. Anyway, we were slaughtered. I climbed to the very top of the mast to try and escape and watched as the rest of the crew ere mercilessly killed. I was only a kid, who should have to see that? We were sailing in a storm, in the current between Meridell and Tyrannia. Ya see, as our ship's mast was the tallest thing for miles, any lightning that struck was bound to hit us. It was just a matter of time.

Ango coughs slightly, nervous. Long story short, I got struck by lightning, okay? But dont think I was anything special. I died, I wasn't some miracle child. But as I was struck, there on the mast, anger and fear seemed to well in me, and I struck out at the sailors with everything I had. I killed them all, without regret. Then I fell from the mast, and landed in the sea.

Yeah, I was dead... I think. I ended up in a between-world where I first met Kirbz. Ango grins happily. A side affect of the in-between world and everything that happened seems to be this curse.

You glare at the zafara, slightly annoyed that she makes no sense and is highly unbeleivable. Cant she just explain what happens? Almost as if she could read your mind, Ango rolls her eyes and yawns. I shoulda let you drown... After a arkward silence Ango carries on. You still here? Fine. The curse generally means I glow purple, I lose my pupils and get covered in purple (voilet) runes. Then...

Ango grins widely, showing rows of sharp teeth and making her pirate face very untrustful. Then, I control more power than you could ever see! Or imagine... or anything! The pirate grins smugly and straightens up. There's only one who even comes close to me, and I dealt with her quickly and merilessly! Not that she gave me much mercy. She deserved all she got! Ango's eyes are full of anger, and you can see the hatred in her face. Her eyes seem to take on a purple tone for a moment, and you shuffle away. This is definatly a dangerous subject...

Love?

Kirbz... The gift of fins has taken it's toll on us... The captain softens, lost in her own world for a moment. Moon and Aura may resist love, but it just comes naturally I guess. Whatever. Why are you prying into my personal life?! She toughens up, more agressive than before. To make up for her 'weakness' perhaps?

The change

How I became the girl you see before you? Well, I guess I can tell you about how I grew fins... In the third person, naturally!
Her quiet laugh carried across the harbour, strangly heard above the cannon-fire, yelling of the Meridell navy and suckling sloshing sound as her pride and joy, 'shiden sank under the blue zafara's feet. The suprise at the zafara's laugh caused the sailors to stop waving their swords at the pirate and stare in wonder. Ango stood alone on the bow of 'shiden, as it rose from the water, slowly dissapearing into the watery darkness. The cannons stopped firing as they had run out of ship to destroy, and the once great 'shiden was little more than a giant cannon-hole, driftwood. you Have nothing to laugh at, Pirate! and soon nothing to live for! the sailor held a grey zafara up by the tuft of hair on his head, and jabbed a sword at his throat. The zafara growled and dodged the blade as best he could, but was unable to spread his feathery wings as they were bound up. Ango stared at the sailor, rather pleased with herself. The sailor stared back, growing angry at the female zafara's lack of emotion. He shook the grey zafara in anger and for a moment worry passed over Ango's face. Sighing slightly, she climbed furthur toward the front of the ship, which was now almost vertical. She stood on the figurehead and raised her paws to the sky. she closed her eyes and concentrated hard. Slowly violet runes began covering her body, starting on her paws and spreading outwards. Once her body was consumed with the runes she opened her eyes and looked at the sailor who was man-handling the grey zafara. Her eyes were violet and pupiless, as well as emotionless, cold and mercyless. The sailor dropped the other zafara and scrambled away as fast as he could, scared for his life. The bindings on the grey zafara glowed violet and disintergrated, as did those on the other crew members. The effort of calling upon the curse as a weapon brought Ango to her knees, and she knelt on the figurehead for support. Sailors clambered up the ship's remains waving swords to get to the zafara, grinning at the thought of finally catching and killing the zafara pirate captain, who had evaded them so many times in the past. She caught her breath, standing up again on the figurehead. She smiled sadly down at the sailors as they neared, and gave the grey coloured zafara a wave of farewell, before pulling a small bottle of water from her pocket. The sailors clambered up the ship 'shiden, eager to get the zafara and be the one to kill her. She grinned down at them and spoke calmly and quietly, although her voice once again drifted over the harbour as an unearthly silence decended. This... she smiled down at the sailors, then over the water at the general of the navy. will always be known as the day you...almost caught Captain Jean Ango! With that she swung her head back and drunk the water down, savouring the taste as it slid down her throat. Once it was all gone, she grinned and waved at the general, before diving backwards into the cold salty sea water. The sailors yelled and dived after her, unwilling to let their prize get away, while ships surrounded where she had dissapeared. The harbour gate grounded shut and more sailors surounded where land met water. They waited and searched, even closing the town so that no one could escape. The general growled in anger, annoyed that the zafara had evaded him yet again. The pirate crew though managed to escape, although upset and distraught at the loss of their captain.

The sailors stayed for days. Eventually the general gave up and called the search off, safe in the knowlege that the zafara couldn't of stayed under water this long, and she must have drowned. He didnt understand why her body didnt wash up, but then again it might of sank, and he was in no mood to look for it. He barely noticed that Ango's crew had escaped, and he didnt care. His one goal had been Ango, and she was now dead. He allowed them to open the harbour gates, and the town returned to normal.

Sokaris' amulets

Months later, in the deep ocean, three shapes appeared. In the murkey water, it was hard to make them out, although two were mermaid-like, while the third was like a shark. They swam constantly, little conversation passing between them as they rode currents, bringing them ever closer to a small beach. This beach had often been the resting place of the ship 'shiden and it's crew, and a half-days walk from the grey angel zafara's home. As the three swam into the shallows, one of the mermaid-like ones slowed. this is as far as I can take you... Its been nice to have conpanionship, even though I dont normally like it. I hope we meet again... Ango. the Maraquan ashia swam slowly away, her mind drifting back to her old home. bye... Ango murmured back, then swam with the shark-like animal towards the beach. Using her tail she propelled herself forward as fast as she could and launched herself onto the beach where she lay panting. The shark-like animal looked at her from the water.

An hour or so later the grey angel zafara left his home and the sound of his sister's training in favour of a walk on the beach. He thought of what he had, and what he had lost. The warm sand under his paws was comforting and the sound of the waves more so. He walked to the water's edge, where something glinted in the sunset light. The tide was just consuming it. The zafara reached down and pulled at it, trying to free whatever it was. Slowly it moved, groaning slightly before propping itself up using its arm. Is that you... ANGO! The grey zafara grinned happily and sat down with the pirate in the water, the tide lapping at his feet. Kirbz! Ango grinned happily, glad to meet an old friend.
