*** Welcome to my petpage! I'm Jaghli
the marshmallow grundo. I'll give you some help to get started on Neopets. If you've been on Neopets for a bit, but
have a question about a certain subject, just click on the picture above and the page will hop right to that
area. If you need more help than I have on my page, then scroll down to the bottom for more great places to get
information. You Don't Have to Do Everything Right Away.
|
|
Try not to be frustrated by all the options and activities on Neopets and Have Fun!
|
| Have a Goal: Your goal will be
something specific you want to accomplish while on Neopets. It may be that you want to buy a Darigan Paint Brush.
You might want to have the highest score on the Escape from Meridell game. You might want to have one of every
type of sand. You don't have to choose a goal right away, and you can always change it later if you decide
to. Every player on Neopets starts out the same. Good Luck! |
Pets
|
| *** Since this site is called Neopets
I'm guessing you like animals. *yeah, Jaghli jokes* You were given the option to create a pet and you may have
noticed some pets aren't available. Limited Edition Pets: are only available to create at certain
times. *** One of these pets are the cybunny. The Neopts Team (also called TNT) release a few cybunnies a
couple of times during Cybunny Day once a year. *** Another limited pet is the Tonu. They are released like
the cybunny, but they can also be created when the Giant Omelette is completely eaten. (Wait what's the omelette?
you ask. Well, you'll come across it while exploring Neopia) *** Grundos can never be created on the Create a
Pet page, but you can always adopt one from the Space Station.
Draiks and Krawks are very popular
with some players. This is because they are expensive or diffucult to create. *** Draiks can be made using
potions or with a draik egg from Meridell shop called Merifoods. The egg is rarely available in the shop and many
players are waiting to buy one, so you can also get one from the Trading Post or in an Auction. The eggs and
potions are expensive because many players want one. *** Krawks can be made by giving your pet a potion, or
you can buy a krawk as a petpet in the Tyrannia shop called Tyrannian Petpets. Like the draik eggs these are
rare, but can also be found in the Trading Post, Auctions. You can also Trade one of your pets for a draik or
krawk, adopt one from a player who has an extra pet, or get one from a lucky Zap at the Laboratory Ray (What is
this lab ray thing? I'll explain a little farther down). |
 |
Changing Color or Species: If
you saw a player with a pet that was not a basic color (usually red yellow blue or green) then that pet had been
painted or potioned. You can change the color and even the species of your pet, but not the name. ***Painted
pets have been painted with a Magical Paint Brush. These brushes can be found in Random Events, in the Trading
Post, at an Auction and in Players Shops. ***Potions can change your pets species or color or both. You can
get a potion the same ways as a paint brush. |
 |
|
Secret Laboratory Map: the pieces of this and other maps can be bought in Player's
shops, found in the Trading Post and Auctions, and will appear during random events (What are random events?
Don't worry, you don't have to look for them, they will find you!). Once you have collected all nine pieces you
can assemble a map on the Games page under Puzzles. The Laboratory Ray can be used to zap any of the pets on your
account. It can only zap one pet a day. When you Zap a pet the ray can change the pet's color, species, gender,
level, strength and other statistics. It is random so there is no guarantee what will change on your pet.
Sometimes nothing will change. And if you are really lucky you might get a pet like me, the marshmallow. Some colors can only be gained from the lab ray! |
Converted and Unconverted
Pets: *** Converter: When you use the Search Neopets box (on the left side of your screen) you might have
noticed your pet looks different in the little icon than he or she does on her pet lookup or on your user lookup.
This is because Neopets have changed over time. Some pets have had several changes since thay were first
introduced. In 2008 Neopets updated the drawings of all the pets so they could wear armour and clothes, and carry
tools and accessories. These are the Converted Pets. When you make a new pet it will automatically have these
Converted forms. *** UnConverted: A few pets were not effected by the Conversion. These pets have the style of
drawing that all pets had before the change. They cannot wear outfits or hold tools. They can be given
backgrounds and can have some accessories around them. UnConverted pets are rare, you cannot make one, but you
can Trade or Adopt one from another player. |
| Converted
|
Unconverted
|
Trading for a Pet or Adopting a
Pet: *** Trade: You can Trade one of your pets for another player's pet, but you may not buy or sell pets
for neopoints or items. This is against the rules. *** Adopt: You can adopt a pet from a player with an extra
pet, or you can adopt an abandoned pet from the Pound. The Pound
Board will help you learn more about adopting and trading pets. You can also visit an adoption agency like the one above.
|
Changing Pets Level and
Statistics: Besides the lab ray, you can change your pets level and statistics with training. You can train
your pet in the Mystery Island Training School or in the Academy on Krawk Island. Why train your
pet?The Battledome: Every once in a while your pets may be called upon to defend Neopia from
villians and invaders...or you may have the opportunity to be the villians and invaders! This will happen when
Neopets has a Plot adventure (explained in the Plot section). You can train your pets and battle them against
other players to prepare for these Plots. Your pets can use special abilities and weapons to show their prowess.
There is a Battledome Board where you can find a partner for a match, or learn about the latest weapons. |
 |
 |
|
There are many battledome guides, here's one that covers most
strategies.

Neopoints
|
|
Neopoints are the currency used in
Neopia. They have no value outside of Neopets! You can earn Neopoints by playing games and running a shop.
Sometimes you will get neopoints from a random event. Neopoints from Games: You can earn up to 1000
neopoints (aka NPs) for each game played. Most games will allow you to submit a score 3 times every day. Those
neopoints will add up fast. Here's a guild, one of many, with guides to help you with games:
I recommend going to the Games page and trying any game that looks interesting in each
section.Don't try to play all the games on the first day, or I'm pretty sure you will turn into a mushroom and
then a gnome will sit on you.

Running a Shop: You can create a shop of your own by choosing Your Shop from the Shop
option along the top of a main page. This is called the Menu. There is no menu on my page becasue I ate it *nom
nom* The best way to run a shop is to have stock to sell. You can get stock by going to Neopian Shops or
buying items from other players' shops. *** Buying from Neopia shops can be confusing because sometimes they
run out of items. These shops restock at random times but usually about every 10 minutes at the latest. By
spending time in a shop you can find out which items can be bought and sold a a profit. The most profitable items
will sell quickly, so you will have to experiment at first. Soon you will know which items to buy up and which
items to leave on the shelves. Neopians call this Restocking, or RS. (Actually, there are lots of abreviations on
the site, but you will learn them as you go along.) *** Buying from Players' Shops: Neopets has a shopaholic
jubjub named the Shop Wizard who will help you find the best prices in players shops. This is called Sniping.
Sometimes you will find an item that is amazingly underpriced. Usually you will be able to make a smaller profit
from Sniping than from Restocking, but sniping is a faster way to fill your shop with items. |
 |
*** These items are used as currency for special areas. Codestones: So a strange
rock appeared in your inventory and you're not sure what to do with it. This was probably from a random event.
Should you sell it? Maybe. You can use a codestone to train your pet in the Mystery Island School. If you
are going to battle your pet you might want to save these to pay the wise Techo Master. Dubloons are
coins that you can use to purchase items and training on Krawk Island. Don't want to wait on a random event?
You can buy dubloons or codestones in players shops, in the Trading Post and at Auctions. |

|
Random
Events
|
 |
|
Random events are...random. They will usually sit at the top of a page while you are
traveling around Neopia. Random Events are small messages to you from your pets, general information from
mysterious pets who are just passing by, and some of the plot characters. Most random events are benign (that
means good) and some will give you items or cause a change in your pet.
|
 |

|
Sometimes you will be visited by a faerie during a Random Event. These are not sweet little sunshine and
butterfly faeries! These faeries want you to run an errand for them. They will not allow you to use the Shop
Wizard to find their item, either. If you are lucky enough to have the item you can turn it in in the Faerie City
in Faerieland. You can also go to the Marketplace in Neopia Central to visit a Mall, or with help to find a shop
from the Quest Board. Most faeries will br gratful for your help and give you a gift. (What kind of gift? That
depends on what type of faerie). Psst: some random events are bad. Sorry about that, but I thought it would be
better to hear it from me. Some events will take neopoints or make your pet sick. They might turn your items into
a pile of sludge! Luckily there are places to keep your items and Neopoints where they will be safe. I'm not
going to tell you about them *hee hee*. |

News and Special
Days
|
 |
|
*** By now you might be ready for a Neopets Goal. Sometimes TNT will
announce an event that will help you. |
text
 |
New Features can be find under the News option on the Menu at the top of most pages. You can
also get to it from the Main Page; that's the page Neopets sends you to right after you log in. It's a good idea
to check the News every day so you don't miss out on activities. The Neopian Times is an online
newspaper where you can read the articles, stories and comics that other players have created. There is also an
Editorial section where TNT will answer questions from players. You can go to the newest issue of the Times from
the New Features section, or from the News option on the Menu. You can submit a comic or writing to the Neopian
Times by clicking on the pile of newspapers at the bottom right of most pages of the Times. Calendar:
Some pets and avatars can only be had at certain times of the year. Sometimes TNT will announce an event that
will help you, but sometimes you will have to keep track of a day yourself. The calendar can be found from the
link on the New Features page or under Pet Central on the Menu.
Remember I mentioned Cybunny's in the Pets
section? You can create a cybunny at the end of the Month of Eating (you humans call it April). |
 |
|
Avatars
|
*** Avatars are small images that can
be used to personalize your messages on the Boards and in Neomails. Some avatars can be received from battling
Neopian challengers in the Battledome, other avatars are from random events. Still other avatars are from having
or visiting a certain pet. There are special avatars that display your skills for a specific game, and avatars
from giving your pet an item. Changing your Avatar: to change your avatar chose Preferences from
the Boards option on the Menu. Finding a New Avatar: you will find avatars as you explore the site.
Here's a guide to help you collect more:

Plots and
Comics
|
| Besides giving you a site where you
can play all the games you'd like, chat with friends, explore a cartoon world, and have snazzy pets, The Neopets
Team releases Plots to make Neopets more interesting. These plots usually involve puzzles and mysteries that need
to be solved. Sometimes you will work with other players and sometimes you will be on your own to follow the
clues. These plots sometimes reveal new areas on the site, or new games and Neopet species. Sometime there are
rewards for completing or competing in a plot. |
|
 |
The plots also have comics to read. These comics have clues to the
next step in the plot and help establish the storyline. If you miss a part of a plot, the comic will help you
find the next step to participate in.To find out if there are any active plots check the news and the Boards. To
see past plots go to this archive: Plot Archives
|
|
 |
 |
|
If there is no active plot right now on Neopets, you can still complete the Altador plot.
The King will appreciate your help! You can find Altador by clicking on the top of the highest tower in Faerie
City, or from the Map under the Explore option in the Menu. Here's a guide to help you through the puzzles, but I
suggest trying each step on your own before looking for help. Also, I am made of sugar *flexes muscles* just mentioning it.

Need More
Help?

 |
 |
Traveling You will learn a lot as you travel around the
site. Don't worry about getting lost; it's a game site. Yep, look to your left and right, ah-ha you're OK, see?
|
Help Board The Help Board will help you. Look for a
topic that says help and chat, or make a topic of your own. Be sure to mention what you need help with in the
Topic. It may take a minute for an answer, but players are glad to give advice.
|
Special Note: the purple pet above does not exist in Neopia, TNT decided to use
a different design for maraquan gelerts. Guilds Your Guild can help you.
Your guild is a place where you can visit with players who have similar interests to your own. You might choose a
guild that has an all platypus theme. Your guild might compete in Faerie Quests. There is a Guild Board where
players advertise guilds that are looking for new members. ~
|
Explore Visit all the Worlds in Neopia! You can see
the entire Map of Neopia by choosing Explore in the Menu. There is a navigation arrow in the lower right of the
map that will turn the globe. Whoot! Neopia is round! We rule!

*** And now a bit about Jaghli and Marsh_Mellon ***

 |
|
|
Hi I'm Teresa, adult Neopian and guardian of ferrets. Call me Perdita, here, everyone does! I like to write and draw, but I haven't been able to make a living at it, so Neopets is a friendly venue for my limited talents. This is the Grundo account. I'm pretty attached to my pixels, but I'm also a hopeless lab ray addict. From time to time I surf for basic pets to zap. After their lab makeovers I adopt them out. I have to do this, cause TNT only allows 5 account.
Exploits of the Fabulous Mallow: None yet XD He can be found pal-ing around with Marsh_Mellon or fishing with Ozabond. Emankcin (the original pet and coincidentally Nickname spelled backwards) guards the old Ghost Writer articles (we'll miss his horns, but there's no way to send them).
A little about the white grundette: Marsh_Mellon was adopted directly from the Space Station. She won't go near the lab ray. One day she'd like a visit to the Rainbow Fountain. This sweet little alien is happy to have such a handsome companion on the account (not you Ozzie, stop making faces). I think they'll make a great pair.
A little more about the magnificent mallow: Jaghli is a bit of a daredevil. Life can be complicated
without arms or legs, so he makes an extra effort to remind others of his independence. Sometimes this gets him into trouble. There was the time he decided to make waffles...and ended up with his 'abs', but that's a story for another time. |
