Stormbringer

According to Neopian History, a Stormbringer is a rare being. There have only been two other personalities noted to have the immense power to control the weather, and they are Danran Melrown (Year 1020) and Tamia del Rosa (Year 1901).
The ability to control weather is a difficult skill to master since that kind of magic feeds on the emotions of the one casting the spell. Unlike the usual magics, this type is involuntary, which means that even though the Stormbringer does not will the power, but has even the slightest change of emotion, the weather would change along with it.
Though the magic is very much impossible to contain, there are several ways to keep it from unleashing its full strength. One is to practice keeping it only within a certain range. Another is to convert that full energy to a lesser force. (i.e. Converting a lightning storm caused by rage to snow or rain)
.

Stormbringer

The two Stormbringers mentioned earlier received proper training, allowing them to keep their power to a minimum, but in the case of Ivynell, her magic was neglected, thus, resulting in rapid changes of weather in their village and surrounding areas.
Her family would try their best to keep her calmed and her power a secret, ensuring them of protection against the Council and their dreaded Chieftain who frown upon all kinds of magic. Although, occasionally, Ivynell would lose hold of her emotions and therefore, send the weather into howling fury.
As one could see, rage would set off a storm; lightning would be present though it does depend on the intensity of such emotion. Gloom would often bring upon a rainy climate, and pure bliss: sunny skies and cloudless nights, or sometimes, snow. However, such emotions do not always trigger such weather; it is unpredictable after all.
Whenever they do lose control of their power, a ring of light would appear around the Stormbringer's forehead. For little weather changes, their eyes usually glow.

Stormbringer

The Stormbringer Ivynell can be described as somewhat quiet, often staying away from people. She dislikes crowded places, thus, she always skips going to town festivities and celebrations. She is picky when it comes to choosing friends and is careful with whomever she trusts, mostly because she doesn't want people finding out her secret gift.
Ivynell dreams of getting rid of her power since it's the only thing that's keeping her and her family from living a normal life like the rest of the villagers. She often contemplates on running away so her family could live in peace (though when her mother did hear of her plans, she was scolded and told that it was a foolish thing to do). Nonetheless, she would keep wishing, and would often come outside after sunset to wait for the first star of the night, believing that if she wished hard enough, the Star Beings would hear and take her power away.
She is afraid of the Village Council, a gathering of elders who are strict in their laws. She knows that if ever the Council gets wind that she has a power of her own, she and her family risk banishment from the Town.
In her free time, Ivynell would go to the Town Library (which is extremely old and out of date) to read whatever book captures her fancy. She enjoys the old faerie tales above all, and would often read to her younger sister out loud and they would play pretend that they live in such a wonderful world.

The Legend
The Terradins and The Village Life

Ivynell was born into a well-to-do family. Her father owned a great deal of land used for growing crops and harvests which was left to her mother, Millaris Terradin, when he passed on. Her mother also maintained an inn that caters to a dozen or so travelers per day.
She had a younger sister, called Kala, as well as an elder brother, Nathaniel, a merchant who is constantly out of town, wandering to different places to sell the goods.
The family lived in the secluded Village of Canes located to the north of Altador, near the Great Mountain Ring.

The Legend
The Council

The Village of Canes is one that believes in the local folklore, and their laws depend on it. The Town is ruled over by the Council and its Chieftain, a gathering of village elders who are strict with the implementation of their laws. Their emblem is of a snake intertwined around a staff, symbolizing wisdom and power combined into one.
They frown upon all kinds of magic since they believed that those with power got their magic due to a deal or a contract made with the various Spirit Beings of the Forest which they deemed evil. Punishment for such ''act'' is banishment from the village.
Despite the Terradin Family's attempt to conceal Ivynell's power from the much-feared Council, they still found out about it. Rumours from some farmers who witnessed the young Zafara use her magic reached the Council's ears, sending a few of them and their loyal guards to march up to the Terradin's home.
However, all went horribly wrong when Ivynell lost control of the power and sent waves of lightning at the intruders. It was a gruesome end to some of the guards and the council members... and to her family as well.
In fear, Ivynell ran.

Kindred Spirits
And here are my other characters, the ones whom I have dedicated most of my time to. Each of them is special; each has their own unique characteristics that make them them. Some have the ''gift'' similar to what Ivynell has; kindred spirits, they are called: people Ivynell could relate to in the adventures that she will go on.
Without further ado, here they are. Hover over their images to see a short description of them (or at least as short as it could get)

Venna is the Queen of the Southern Desert Realm of Ithalyas, much to the distaste of a few groups of nobles here and there. Outsiders and some of the Royals would often think of her as incapable of being the ruler of the large kingdom (mostly due to her rather finicky and vain nature) but most of the people of Ithalyas and those who know her well would highly disagree with them. Despite her being fussy, she gets things done. Somehow.
She has a power, of course (It isn't uncommon to have such in the Desert Realm) and being a direct line of the Aythr'i family, she inherited it full blast. Instead of using that power for battling and warcraft, she focuses on the magic of Healing, much to the surprise of all.
She was called on by the Mage Valoritum de Solace (who wasn't as well-versed in Healing as she is) to heal the wounds of a wandering child called only by the name "Ivynell."

Up until recently, the Seth'el family simply didn't exist; they were protected by a society called The Hidden due to a power struggle that happened years ago when the First Aythr'is upstaged a rebellion that forced the Seth'el Royals from Ithalyas. Though it happened in the time of the ancients, The Hidden and the Seth'els fear that the Aythr'is would do something drastic to stop the Seth'els from having a claim to the throne, and they set to training their young ones (including Jaeire) to defend themselves if such thing happens.
However, Jaeire meets Venna, a princess at that time, who, apparently, was running away from the assassins hired by some of the nobles so /they/ would get to the throne. Despite The Hidden's wishes, he set to help Venna on her quest to take back the throne that was rightfully hers... which is really rightfully his.
He is currently the Viceroy of Ithalyas, ruling alongside Queen Vennaline Tyrane Ayth'ri, mostly in charge of the Kingdom's military affairs. Despite his rather fierce nature, he does love books and even has a grand library to show it. He was also one of Ivynell's tutors who taught her the realm's language, and was very much interested in the kind of power that she has (and how much it would benefit Ithalyas' army if ever she does pledge her loyalty to the realm)

Valor is the Head of the Mages Circle of Ithalyas, a gathering of mages who have sworn their loyalty to serving the Realm and its Queen. From his outer appearance, he would appear to be at least around 20 years, though in reality, he is nearly 1,000 due to a curse which made him immortal. For the past thousand years, he served the Ruler of Time as punishment for meddling with Time and various other spells that mortals shouldn't have dealt with. The curse was broken only recently, and he has been trying to live as normally as he could.
Moonlight could show his true nature though, and would appear as some sort of skeletal figure. When Ivynell first saw him, she felt fear (which was the usual reaction of most people when they see him in that state) and whenever she did feel fear, her first instinct would be to summon lightning, which, Valor managed to thwart with his magic.
Despite his usual cynicism towards others, Valor did pity the child and her wild magic, and pledged that he would try to teach her the various tricks to control it. A little experiment of sorts: one that would help her, and the rest of them.

Lia was orphaned at a very young age and was forced to live and wander around the streets of Ithalyas on her own. During the first few months, she survived the harsh city life by stealing whatever she could, using her ability to see glimpses of the future to perfect her timing to do so. However, her stealing frenzy was cut short when she was caught by Thomas Demitris, a baker from one of the shops she tried to rob from. Though instead of handing her over to the guards, Demitris took her in as his adopted daughter and tried to erase that stealing habit she picked up.
In her stay there, she learned that Demitris was actually the masked protector of Ithalyas, the one rumored to have been going around the city every night to thwart possible crimes. When Demitris passed on, Lia took up that role as protector of Ithalyas, with only one other person knowing her secret.
Her friend, Valor, accompanies her in the rounds when he does have the time, since she could be "a bit careless." She was surprised, however, at her friend's sudden impulse to tutor a new student who couldn't control her power, and since that particular student reminded her of herself in the early years, she agreed to help out a bit in any way that she could.

Ely is described by others as "creepy" and someone "one should never cross. Ever." And they're right. Even though she is only eleven years of age, she has mastered her power which she could use to control other people by means of puppets. A prodigy, as viewed by some; a menace, as viewed by most.
Instead of using it for the good of all, she mainly uses it for taking revenge of those who have insulted her in the past. Due to her rather morbid nature, she never had any friends other than Laxi, since most fear that they would say or do something that would offend her, thus resulting in their being controlled to do highly embarrassing acts.
Ely is currently under the watchful eye of Valor and Lia, who seem to be the only ones who could keep her calmed and distracted from her vengeful plans. She, however, is slightly jealous of Ivynell's power, since she dislikes it when someone is "better" than her.

Laxi is a rebellious spirit, often too vocal in most things she happens to stumble upon. Her being too opinionated does keep away most people since she would most likely debate with them if ever they have thoughts that oppose hers.
Oddly enough, she's friends with Elyraviel, the one people are rather afraid of being around with, much less speaking their mind to. Laxi also befriends the "new kid" who goes by the name Ivynell, although she regards her as "boring" due to Ivynell being too silent and serious.
Laxi is currently thirteen years, and is undergoing training to be part of the Knights of Ithalyas in the near future. Her favorite weapon is the glaive, favoring that over swords and daggers, much to the annoyance of her trainers.

If ever one needs their daily dose of sarcasm, Caedir is their one friend. This cynical and often mocking kid had once lived in utter luxury, until one day, she insulted a passing pet and the Faerie Queen, herself.
It wasn't exactly insulting, but then again, the minds of the faeries work very differently from that of the mortals. Caedir (along with her sister, Caylir) was dragged along to the Faerie City for a trial, and was deemed guilty for her acts, with the verdict of her helping out one other Faerie in her whirlwind quest for keys.
Caedir is currently traveling to various places to find the missing items that she needs to look for. She is now residing in the Haunted Woods at the moment, just running errands for the brain tree so that it could tell her the location of the next key.

Cay is the exact opposite of her sister. While Caedir is not exactly the bubbly type, Cay just sparkles with never-ending joy and happiness, much to the annoyance of her sister. Optimism is her greatest weapon, and even though life seems to brick the two with its infinite worries, her positive outlook never wavers. She just remains oddly... happy.
Even though she wasn't exactly involved in the recent Faerie Trial, she agreed wholeheartedly to accompany her sister in her rather difficult quest, which is a good thing of course.
Without Cay, the missions would have been a complete failure since, much to Caed's despair, Cay manages to get them out of tough situations every single time.

Kindred Spirits

Varrien is the younger brother of Vennaline Tyrane Ayth'ri, however, he doesn't consider himself part of the Nobles of Ithalyas. After he and their parents escaped from a growing rebellion some years ago (and after they left Venna back in the city due to some complications), they moved to Terror Mountain, specifically in the Arctic City.
He didn't know until recently that he was royalty (his parents kept the truth from him for safety) and he pursued a career in the music business. He is currently the lead guitarist of the band, Spinning Free, and is now touring the world with them and staging concerts in various places.

Zar was born in to an aristocratic family in the Arctic City (though her father calls it "The Lithenim Arctic Empire" since it was their family that held most of the power). She is usually silent when she's with her family and other upper-class citizens, but pretty much outspoken when she's at school.
She was never really into music, though she can sing quite decently. Then one day, it just so happened that the lead singer of their school band Spinning Free quit on the day of a contest due to a misunderstanding, and Zaryph, having overheard the conversation (or rather, fight) volunteered to take the singer's place, pitying the group since they were up next.
They did rather well, and the band asked if she'd like to be part of the band. She agreed, resulting in a rather... violent reaction from her mother. Her father didn't mind, of course, and even offered to fund their little project ("Tons of money over here. It would be a waste not to spend them!").
Zar is currently traveling with the band, touring the world and singing her heart out.

Harm is the captain of the infamous ship, The Sunsetter, and is usually off to some mischief in one way or another.
It was really an accident that she got into the pirate business. One day, after a mishap with some of the marketplace's shopkeepers, she hid inside one of the crates to escape the little mob that was after her. However, she was suddenly shut off from the world when someone unknowingly shipped the crate off to a sea vessel. By the time she managed to break free from the sealed crate, the ship had apparently sailed off and there was no way they could turn back just to "chuck a little stowaway back to the mainland when there was tons of pirating to do.
There, she was given the job to clean up whatever mess was made, with the promise that in a few weeks, they'd be back in Brightvale. However, something interrupted their voyage and the ship and its crew was dragged to a whirlwind quest filled with treachery and deceit.
Harmoneia and her crew were the ones who hired Ivynell to help out in the ship's dealings for awhile, and in return, Ivynell gets a free voyage to Ithalyas, the Desert Realm.

Seph is the rather fierce type, one that should never be crossed. He is The Sunsetters First Mate, and though he dislikes (and is disliked by) everyone, he gets along with Harm very well now.
He was also the First Mate back when the original captain of The Sunsetter, Rictem, was alive, and was loyal to him. However, he was betrayed by the captain and a few of the crew members, and was offered to the Cursed Beast as sacrifice.
It was Harmoneia who saved him, the one stowaway that he never really got along with, and was vehement on taking revenge on the captain and the crew. He managed to defeat the captain, but instead of taking up the captaincy of the ship which he never really wanted, he offered it to Harm who was as capable as he is.

Doubt is a rather timid kid, which is a surprise to the crew of The Sunsetter, really. No one really knows why he would dream to be one of the pirate at such state, but nevertheless, they took him in since he never really have anywhere else to go to.
Doubt considers the crew as a family, and though he is afraid of most things, he would try (and usually fail) to help out in whatever dealings that they encounter.
One other thing about Doubtful is his ability to change his appearance. No one knows what he really looks like, and no one really asks. The only thing that could help the crew identify him is by the strange stone necklace that he usually wears, which Doubt is rather protective of.

Zade is the leader of the Elite 770 Force (E770 for short), one of the Commanders in Sloth's growing army. Basically, her loyalty only lies to Sloth, and would blast away anyone who dared question the Great Mastermind's schemes.
She is not a villain, no; she believes that what she is doing is right and that the universe needs the one ruler who would govern it well.
Her specialties include Robot repairs and space ship mechanics, as well as battle tactics and strategies. In her spare time, she would often visit the Mutations Lab and speak with the head doctor there, whom she regards as "highly intelligent and interesting to speak with... better than those pesky grundos I'm assigned to lead."

Requiaz is the head of the Research Department of the Elite 770 Force, specializing in DNA research and mutations. Though his intentions are good, he is pretty much feared by almost everyone due to his rather random and often insane notions, not to mention that nobody has ever seen his face in the years he has been there.
For reasons only known to himself, he always wears a face mask, which gives him a sort of demented look that keeps everyone away. He dislikes company and would try his best to shoo off agents even if they come for the reports.
The only one who has been seen speaking with him for more than five minutes is the Commander Zadarine Nirevou, who is rumored to have seen his true appearance.

Myr is an agent of the Intergalactic Space Unit 568, an Intelligence Facility that undermines Sloth's plans and schemes.
She is of a strange Buzz species of the Eastern Zone #32 which means that she doesn't have a mouth and could only speak mind to mind. Her odd gift gives her an advantage for more stealthy missions and she would often use it to confuse her enemy targets by speaking into their heads and making them think that they're insane.
Despite the seriousness of her work, Myr is rather happy-go-lucky, which is something quite odd to find in the ISU 568 where solemnity is greatly observed by her fellow agents. In her free time, she likes to travel (mostly to Neopia, specifically to visit the Southern Desert Realm of Ithalyas where she is friends with their Queen)

Kindred Spirits

Apollius lives in a Realm different from that of Neopia. In fact, their world is what makes up Neopia. He is part of the Council of the Realms and holds the position of the 3rd Chief of Rights.
He is otherwise known as the Ruler of Day, the one in charge of all Daylight businesses which include steering the Chariot of Flame across the sky that mirrors that of Neopia and attending to the demands of the Star and Nova beings.
Apollius gets along with everyone just fine, but one Realm member that he cannot stand is the 4th Chief of Rights, (also known as the Ruler of Time) who often challenges his Council position.

Artemiscia is the sister of Apollius. Like him, she is also part of the Council of the Realms and holds the position as 2nd Chief of Rights, although she never did acknowledge that she holds a higher position than her brother.
The Ruler of Night is in charge of all Evening businesses which include being in charge of the controls of the Moon orbit (changing of the phases and such) as well as governing and assigning places for the Shadow beings.
Artemiscia, unlike her brother, is quite the anti-social type. She almost always never attended the various Realm Gatherings that are not business-related.

Persephone is the 7th Chief of Rights in the Council of Realms, and is also known as the Lady of the Seasons.
Hers, along with Time's, is a rather enormous task as compared to the other members of the Council since she is the one in charge of all Season businesses which include overseeing the placement of the Plant Beings, as well as attending to the demands of the various Rivers and other Water Beings (and seeing to it that their routes are the correct ones).
She works alongside Time, with whom she doesn't get along well.

A Tempest in the Making
Storms are created due to a combination of opposing forces: a low pressure surrounded by high pressure. When these forces combine, they create winds, which in turn, make the storm clouds that would most likely build up into a great tempest.
Needless to say, that was how I came up with Ivynell's design. It wasn't immediate, no. It took time for these thoughts, personality quirks, stories and the overall design to form, and of course, there were tons of opposing forces that helped make (or break) this app along the way.
Yup, an app c: This was an application, and I never thought that it would really get this far. It all began on this one week where the weather was pretty much insane. One day, it was blazing warm; the next, it was raining like mad. That was when I thought of how the weather was such an interesting thing, with its ever-changing mood swings and unpredictable wrath.
How would one feel with such power? Mighty, perhaps.
Would the power get to one's head? Most likely.
Though I know one thing for sure: if I ever had such power, I'd probably be miserable with it.
Miserable? That one word triggered the memory of the one Grey Zafara which I tried to forget. I went on ahead and applied, but not before promising myself that I would never exert too much effort on that one application. It was the very first app I've ever done, but I know from other people's experiences that the realm of the app world is such a difficult place.
That was the promise: don't get your hopes up high, Trish. The fall is a long one.
For the first few days, I was just doodled the pictures for the prologue, with the promise echoing in my head. I moved on to the next sections, but despite my conscious effort to stop putting too much effort, subconsciously, I did put a ton of it. It wasn't until I got to the last part (which was Ivynell and Ithalyas) when I realized that the promise was such a failboat xD
And here we are. At the end. All completed
...and with the Stormbringer over here :'3
