¦¦ A time before ¦¦

They say a demon lurks the ice mountains, a new terror in the world. Shunned from her pack, hurting so many, she felt she had no belonging in the woods. In the desert is where she took down her sister, Grace, and learned who she really was; a demon.
After many years, she began to fear herself, as she was slowly destroying the forest. Escaping, she ran to the highest mountains and has lived there for centuries. They say nearby her cave, she planted a flower. Every year in spring, it arises, but my midway summer, she destroys it out of madness accidentally. She swears not to truly leave the mountains until that same flower can live till autumn when the flowers go to sleep.
Will this summer let her leave this prison?

¦¦ Icy dwelling ¦¦

You are traveling through the Terror Mountains in Neopia. You are hoping to find some Neopia secret, but you find nothing but endless whiteness. You travel for hours in the blizzards of the day. Soon nightfall befalls the land, and the snow has slowed to a gentle shower. You look around the new area which you have come to.
You realize you are lost.
You continue to search stubbornly, knowing you will somehow find your way back. You take out your map when you see a familiar mountain in such a unfamiliar area. You are holding the map and searching on it frantically, when a strong breeze carries it from you. Surprised and scared, you chase after your flying map, trying to grab it with your hands, but it drifts higher and higher up into the sky. The wind carries it away slowly and soon you stop running and gasp for the cold air as the map disappears into the darkness of the sky. You sigh again, now feeling hopeless of leaving the mountains. For a moment, you see some grayish figure just ahead of you, but you are unsure of who it is. You squint your eyes to see who it may be, and you walk towards it. Soon, red and Ash grey markings are seen, and a pair of eyes watches you, shining red eyes. You are scared, but what can you do now? Perhaps the stranger will help you. 'Hello…' You say to it. The now wolf form tilts her head towards you and smiles softly. 'Hello there, what are you doing here at nightfall?' You sigh in relief, the wolf sounds friendly enough. 'I was searching for something, but… I never found it…' You blush embarrassed then put on a grin. 'My name is guest. What is your name?' The wolf watches you, puzzled of your enthusiasm. 'My name is Iunhka.' You stare at her then rub your chin. 'Iuu… Iuuuu…. What was it again?' The wolf smiled softly, her fur being brushed up by the wind. 'That is alright, you may call me Iun if you wish.' You nod. 'Iun…. Tell me about yourself Iun!' Iun nods, and leads the way to escape her icy home.

-invalid_words- xx Iun is unlike most demons. She is not threatening in present form, but she has the potential to destroy humanity.

xx Iun lives in the mountains, though originating from the deserts, in an act of self-defiance.

xx The sister's name remains unknown in the story, but her true name is Grace. Her brother's name is Terre.

xx Iunhka has no real meaning in Egyptian.

xx Iun loves nature, but her only gift is destroying it, which saddens her.

xx Marking: She is all Ash Grey with blood red markings. The red starts from her nose and goes all the way along her back to the start of her tail, ending in a point. Two markings come from the middle and go each towards the eye, stops, then half circles the under of the eye, and a red smudge is above the eye. The inside of her ear is red, with a red inside. More red starts halfway on the chests, and covers her stomach. About a little way before the end of the red marking on the back, two red markings split away and curl upwards pointing forward in a curl, and 2 more red smudges in between the red back marking, and the curl (on the outside). On the fronts of each of her legs, around the ankles and wrists, two short diagonal lines appear. Her tail is dipped in red.

No... Why... The flower, it died so early...
As I sat quietly, it burst into flames, again. I tried so hard to save it, but it went to fast...
I'm remaining in this prison still.

01/23/07
Looking back the past summer, the summer was drawing to an end... and then it happened again. Just sitting by the flower, it wilted away in flames... Thinking of my past, and all the hate. Why, why am I like this?

¦¦ Heart ¦¦

I live far away from any civilization… I do not want to hurt anyone with my curse…

¦¦ Companions ¦¦

This is Darkwolf, a strange wolf/human that happened to pass by my territory in the cold Terror mountains. Instead of being scared of me, she was very kind to me. She sat with me and we talked, and I became very good friends with her. What troubles me about her is how she tells me that her friends don't care anymore about her… I wish to tell her that is not true, but I do not know her friends… She used to pass by often, but her wolf friend (Kawana) told me about her long disappearances… That troubles me. I hope she will open her eyes to know that everyone does care, even if sometimes you feel like you're forgotten in this world…

Kawana is a friend of Darkwolf, she introduced Kawana to me… Kawana is a very nice wolf/fox Feather demon with a very tough past. It makes me feel bad to say I myself have a bad past, she was torn away from everything she had by humans… I myself never have any problems with humans, but she seems to have a strong dislike for them… It makes me wonder, why is she still friends with Darkwolf when she has a human form? Some things will remain mysterious… Well, She has the power of the wind and can fly very well and has incredible agility…

[Picture of Krome] This is Krome, another lupe who has stepped in my domain and that I befriended. He was really nice to me, he actually showed me the forest! I miss the forest so much... he showed me beauty I had forgotten in the forest, he showed me his home too... I had become worried my curse would destroy everything, and so we headed back. Recently he's been looking so down and depressed... I wish I could help, I really do.

¦¦ Abhorrence ¦¦

No one… I hate nothing but my curse for now.

¦¦ Cursed ¦¦

Thousands of years ago, a reign of terror came upon the desert lands as an ash and red mirage appeared seemingly from no where. The demon had complete control over all the deserts, burning everything and making the climate boiling hot. She made all humans obey her, and if not, they faced the consequences of disobedience. Her eyes are said to be made of hate itself, as anyone she hates will instantly fall to the ground. Her throne lasted for years until The Great Ones had enough of her selfishness. The humans and Greats worked together until said demon lost all power and soon disappeared. Her only traces of existing remain on very few tombs. All the other images were destroyed in fear.

Years passed, and everything went well, until the humans themselves became obsessed with living and soon stopped communicating with the Greats. As the year progressed, more bad happenings took place until one of the monsters from the flames warned the people:

One look of hate,
the dark end of fate

Many ignored the saying, while others knew what was the true meaning. If anything else bad happened, then Iunhka, the demon, would be able to roam the lands. But... No one listened. Everything went from bad to worse.

One thousand years later, She was born again. Though not having memory or powers she had in the past, who knows what terror she could bring.

¦¦ Story ¦¦

Opening

-invalid_words- A beginning

Many years ago, I was born. And many years ago, the paranoia started.

On the eastern side or Neopia, about one thousand years ago, a demon was born, though at first looked normal, with a sister and a brother. Both the sister and the demon were born with a strange making on their face, a black smudge. The parents of these too look to them strangely, and at their son who looked just like a mixture of the mother of father, a normal one. 'What should we do Thorn?' The surprised mother asked quietly not to awake the new children. The one named Thorn looked around their little den, then to the two with strange markings. 'I'm not sure; I don't really understand what is happening.' That is when a friend of the mother's entered in as a warm greeting, and then looked at the strange pups. She tilted her head, than looked at the mother. 'Do you know what this means Sera?' the friend asked, looking at the two. Sera shook her head confusingly; she only saw a pair of white wolves with a black strange smudge, 'One pup will grow beautiful with silk fur of Gold and white. The other will grow like and ugly beast of ash grey and blood red.' Sera gasped, and looked the pair, her ears folded back. She felt both the honor for the good wolf, and the shame of the dark one. 'Maybe I can make the bad one nice and not cruel?' She whispered, and the friend shook her head. 'Well, it is possible for her to be good, and she will try to be that way, but she will eventually go towards being evil.' The mother sniffled softly, but she promised herself to make this wolf good. No matter what, she will make both feel welcomed.

Truth smudged

My siblings and I grew up slowly, but our parents took great care of us… I noticed that me and my sister seemed to be respected just a little more by the rest of the pack, for they did not know who was good or who was bad… Unfortunate enough for me, I was the demon. My sister and I were a burden enough, until we showed our true pelts to everyone. My black smudge turned ashy grey, spreading over my body. My red markings came quick after starting from the nose and spreading over my body as blood would flow. My sister's smudge turned pale yellow lined with gold and decorated her fur. This is when the pack started to love sister more then I, and a sorrow grew in my heart. Though my mother still took care of me, I began feeling a sense of isolation from the pack, feeling as if their once sweet words had the same black smudge I had.
Weeks became months, as I grew, so did my sadness. My mother I suppose felt my dark aura, and soon began to fear me…I was clueless, I did not understand back then, I only believed that it was my sister's doing. I did not understand what I represented, all I knew was I was her second daughter. She did something either good to get all the attention, or made me look bad to all the rest of the people. Growing with no love, I grew to become slightly aggressive. Who knows if it was the darkness clouding my conscience, or just simply anger about my good sister. I did and still do have a jealousy over her for the things she had that I knew I could never even think to have… She had a happy life and caring family, while they acted as if I was a stranger, lingering in their family. I was of their bloodline, but I suppose I was the daughter no family wished for. Soon, an accident occurred that I will never be forgiven of… but that is later on.

Brother

As I was growing up with my family, I was not truly cared for by the pack. My mother cared for me once, but slowly focused her attention more on my sister… In the beginning, my brother was the only one that would talk to me. Though we would not play as my father forbad us, we spoke a lot together in secret. He would tell me about the hunts he and father went on, what they caught and anything funny that happened along the way. We laughed together, and shared secrets together…. My brother felt sadness and confusion on why I was so left out of everything… He always asked father or mother to include me in games or hunts or other activities, but the answer was always no. I wondered as well with my brother, but it never stopped our friendship…Until that night.
One night, I saw my father talking to my brother nearby the boundaries of our territory. I snuck behind a large tree, and listened to the conversation…
But… Shinra, she is my sister…' My brother said sadly to my father. My father snorted, and looked up towards the moon full in the sky, glaring down upon the earth with its ghostly glow. 'Son….- Terre…. You must understand. She….' Father paused for a moment, then began to whisper to him. The words were inaudible from where I was, but they made a big impact on my brother, for he never talked to me again after that day… I wish I knew what they said in whisper, but it will be a mystery to me like the night.

Ashes and blood

It was during a game my sister and her friends were playing. I sat at the side watching them sadly. One of her friends whispered something in my sister's ear. She shook her head in a no, but her friend took courage and approached me. 'Want to join our game, Shinra?' She asked me. I perked my ears and looked up at her, and stood up, she was bigger then me, as were all the pups. 'You mean it? Sure!' I answered happily, and ran to the group, wagging my tail. The friend grinned and walked over. She began to circle me, and I felt intimidated a bit, but stood happy. 'Want to know the name of the game?' she asked me. 'It would help!' I said eager to join the game. Her grin broadened. 'It's called ashes and blood.' I folded my ears back slightly, and my smile faded. 'H-How do you play that?' I asked her, not feeling as happy anymore. The friend whispered, 'You're the demon, and we get you.' They all pounced at me, and I cried and tried to get away. My sister stood at the side and yelled, 'Leave her alone!' and I finally got an escape route and looked back at them, my tail tucked between my legs cowardly. 'I don't want to play that game.' I told her and whimpered. She approached me and snorted at me, 'You fit best, demon.' My sister cried, 'Please, stop it Ella!' I looked at the rest of the friends who began to chant 'demon' at me, and I became angry. I stood tall and looked angrily at Ella and approached her, she and the rest of the group backed of fearfully. The older wolves became worried and watched what was happening, their chatter became silence. I stared at Ella with pure anger, she whimpered softly, and fell down. Her parents screamed, 'Ella!' and ran to her, pushing me to the side. My mother came forth and looked at me, ashamed. 'How could you-' She was interrupted by a suggestion yelled by the parents of Ella, 'Send the monster away! Take the beast away!' My sister looked at me sadly, and I had sorrow in my eyes, being watched by unwelcoming eyes. I ran away, far away from the pack, never to look back upon them again.

Midway

-invalid_words- A friend

I stayed by myself for a very long time. Years past, and I hid from all life, only hunting in the night when my pelt hid me with the shadows. Legend became myth as I faded away from everyone's mind, hoping that I fell in the river or disappeared in the mountains. The fact was I was just on the other side of the woods, they just couldn't see me in the shadows.
During a hunting trip, I came upon a strange animal. I gasped and backed away, looking at the animal in fear, but realizing it was smaller than me even. His fur was all grey, with patterns of Black and white. He had a black mask marking over his face, black ears, black paws, and a tail that striped black and white. He looked at me with a curiosity and approached me and sniffed the air towards me. I watched him, and said, 'Uhm… Hello.' It came to thought he may not understand what I was saying, but before I could speak again, he replied 'Hello.' I was a bit surprised, but I smiled softly at him and my tail wagged softly. 'What's your name?' I asked, happy to leave loneliness behind. 'My name's Bandit, Or Ban if you want….' He stood up on his hind legs, 'and what is your name?' I thought for a moment, before answering with my given name. 'I am Shinra, back when I was with my pack… Though, they have banished me from their lands….' I sighed softly, and Bandit tilted his head to the side. 'Ohh… I'm sorry Shinra … we raccoons stay together as much a possible!' and to end his sentence, he gave me a smile, nothing like my sister's friend's smile… I smiled back, and he led me the way to his den.

There I met his small family. It reminded me of my own family, but I kept that to myself. I stayed with them for a while, and kept them safe from harm's way, I helped them hunt… I was glad they offered me room in their family, but I could not accept to be considered family… The word 'demon' still haunted my mind.

Regret and Dishonor

I continued to stay around with my friend Bandit, him and his family never judged me. The time came that Bandit had to leave his family for adventure, and I took my leave too. I thanked them all for the support. They gave me a reason to continue on and find peace. With a brightening future, I walked forth into the light myself, letting it shine on me and show the world I was not afraid anymore. I had friendship now, and it was all I needed to learn who I was….. But I still did not know who the other half of me was… all I understood from the other wolves in my pack is that my roots date back from the Desert, and so I adventured to the Desert to answer lingering questions in my mind.

I traveled many weeks before I arrived to the desert, and I did not enjoy the desert at all. The heat was almost unbearable, but I was so determined to find what I needed her. I did a little sight seeing as well. The pyramids seemed so tall compared to me, the drawings on the walls were so detailed and beautiful… On the walls showed many kings and queens of Egypt, the protectors and enemies of it…. But where was I in all this? I then stumbled upon an undiscovered tomb. I looked on the walls to enjoy the artwork, but I stared at the images, my mind weakening. There stood a wolf in the picture, her pelt was of my colors and patterns… Red flames surrounded the platform on which she stood, raising a paw in the air as snakes came from the flames. I was confused and saddened at the same time by the images. This meant.....
I truly was a demon.

Unlocking Mysteries

As I exited the cave, there stood my sister, her image blurry from the heat. I narrowed my eyes at her and growled, and walked past her. She watched me and as I passed her, she turned around. 'Your true name is Iunhka.' I stopped walking, my fur danced slowly in the wind. I looked to the sky, as if hoping an answer would be written in the clouds for me. I looked back at her, and she took a step back, her golden eyes staring in my red eyes. 'I am not that… am I?' I asked pleadingly, wishing it all to go away, but she shook her head sadly. 'I am so sorry mother or father never told you about whom you were…. and that you found out… in these circumstances.' She walked up to me to comfort me, but I looked away from her, and sat on the sand. 'It doesn't matter anymore… You are good, and I am bad. I understand why they didn't care about me.' My sister interrupted promptly, 'Of course they cared about you!' I looked at her angrily, 'Oh yeah? How come no one taught me anything? No one talked to me, listened to me when my true self showed? Answer that.' She stared at me with no answer for my question, and she began to yell a bit annoyed, 'You killed Ella!' I stood up angrily and hissed at my sister, 'You should have told your dumb friend not to bother with me!' my sister remarked back, 'Well you are the demon!' I don't know what happened… but I jumped at my sister, and attacked her. I don't know what exactly struck me to, but soon her blood stained the sands in the desert. I stood there... looking down at my sister, and howled in misery to what I had done.

Conclusion

-invalid_words- Backtracking

After my brutal attack on my sister, I mourned for the horrible thing I did… I felt the only thing I could do in honor of my sister's death was to learn more about myself and who I was… I explored all over the deserts, which was a difficult task because my fur in the day time would burn on my back. By night time, it was safer to explore since the temperatures would drop, and many other animals would go to explore. They stayed away from me, but I did not care, for I was determined to learn who I was. I thought back to the day Ella dropped to the ground right in front of me… I had stared at her with a look of hate, but how could that happen? The decorated walls told me a story… There stood a wolf on the wall, her markings like mine, staring to the people who all were falling off a cliff to meet their fate in a swarm of fire and snakes… Her eyes were pure red and they gave a glow towards the people… Is this what I had done to Ella? I read the Hieroglyphs on the walls… I'm not sure how or why I understood them… I had never seen such symbols before, but after encountering them, it seemed I had known them since birth… It told of a dark fate befalling the land by the wolf…. Me.
Iunhka, the demon.
Perhaps this was the secret my father told my brother that night in whispers, the winds keeping their promise of not telling… That is why all the other wolves in the pack knew me as 'the demon' and kept their distance from me… why Ella's parents wanted to find a reason to shun me out of society. The paints foretold of a demon of 'ashes and blood', who's red eyes could destroy life… 'One look of hate, the dark end of fate' I whispered to myself under the swirling dust storms in the desert as I left the tomb.

Escaping everything

After I had done enough exploring, I left everything behind me. I left the deserts and returned to the woods again, and lived there for a few more years of my life. Although I adapted well to life and no other animals bothered me of my markings, I felt misplaced among all the others. I decided the best thing for me to do was leave my forest behind and move on to other places.
I explored many parts of the world, but there was a calling in the mountains for me… I bid them goodbye, and I left for the mountains. The further up I climbed, the more remote I felt, it became colder and I felt more welcomed here. It was the complete opposite of the desert, the opposite of me, Iunhka. So I now live, for over hundreds of years, in the highest peaks of Terror Mountain, where I greet strangers that happen to pass where I live…. Such strangers such as Darkwolf and one of her wolf friends who flew over looking for another who live the snow….
