Fri, Jul 29, 2011 Woo, it was about time Incanty got a new layout! I'm putting the old content back on here until I update it. But it will be updated! xD

flash flood report, you stand up and walk towards the window to see if the storm was ready to ease up. As you step up to the pane, a furious gust of wind thrashes the small dogwood tree's limb right at you, causing a smack then an eerie scratch down the window screen. Jumping back, you turn around to once again find that the TVs gone black. Sitting back down in your comfortable, but old, recliner, you wait for the life to return to the now useless contraption. A small Spardel aimlessly wanders into the room, a look of fear in his emerald eyes. Looking at him uneasily, you call his name, once, twice, you yell it at him, but he refuses to come any closer. You can feel your breath become irregular, and look back at the -blocked- Lighting flashes, and you see two eyes staring back at you. You stifle a scream as you race over and pull out the curtain holders from the wall, letting them thud on the dirty white carpet.
Feeling your head, you tell yourself over and over that it was just a hallucination. That's right. Just a hallucination. That's all it could have been. Turning around, you nearly fall over as you see your Spardel lying comfortably in your chair, his eyes beaming with triumph. It must have been his eyes in the -blocked-.. He appears to no longer be afraid of anything. Calming down, you scoot him over and wedge your bottom beside him. Just as you sit down, the colors of the screen come on nice and clear, and the TV continues to grow louder. Searching for the remote, you find that you'd sat on it in your still nervous state. Relaxing a bit, you turn down the volume to an appropriate level and see what's on. The news, of course. Like it was a few minutes ago.
Just as your about to turn it to something more interesting, the look of urgency in the caster's eyes keeps you locked on the station. He's about the age of thirty-five, a clean suit on, and nice blond hair. His eyes are a teal blue, very unordinary but spectacular. Taking your attention off of him, you hear what his female counterpart has to say. A woman of about twenty-one was just found dead in the outskirts of Haunted Woods. It appears that shhhh..... Static again. It took you a few minutes to register what she had just communicated to the world. Your breathing begins to pace it's way faster and faster again, though this time uncontrollable. Slowly walking to the window, you pull back the curtain just a smidgen. The reflection of your Spardel's eyes once again caused you to jump, but after recovering you continued to stare on, seemingly lost in a trance. For what you were staring at was no other than hundreds of miles of old, rustic trees. Haunted Woods.

Stripes Incanty has exactally twenty-one stripes. From head to tail: He has one on each of his ear tips. One is on the base of his muzzle. He has one stripe on each of his shoulder blades. He has two each on all four of his legs. Three tiger-like stripes are on his back. Five stripes line his tail, the last one staining the tip.
General Incanty has fluffy fur, with ample amounts on the back of his neck, chest, and underbelly. On the rest of his body, though, it is fairly slick, but you could run your fingers through it. His paw pads are rough from all the running he does. What he runs from isn't quite sure, but some say he's running from the ghosts of his past, from the bad nightmares that keep him awake. His eyes are small but stunning, with thick black rims around both of them. He has a medium snout, and a small nose. Incanty is a small Lupe, smaller than the usual height. He is about as tall as a Lupess. His tail is long--the base is thick and it thins out gradually. He has large paws and a set jaw.

adrenalin rush whenever you do something really spontaneous, something that challenges that fear. That's what you have to do if you want to win.Win what...?
His game.
He has a game? What's it like?
Well, his game takes place in Haunted Woods. Why in HW you may ask? Because that's where your fears lurk. They hide in the shadows of the trees, under the big boulders, inside the bracken. They whisper to you in the wind as you go farther and farther in, perhaps never to come back out. That's where he finds you... and no one's ever escaped before. That's why I don't go into HW. I never will. Because I know he'll find me. I think that's what my greatest fear is. The game only comes around every five years, however. Why five years you may ask? Because they say that's how long he and his secret lover were together before she vanished.
Is there a way to beat his game? Or do you have to die?
No... they say there's a way to win. You have to beat your own fears. Have you ever heard of such a crazy thing?! To beat the thing that keeps you up at night, something you can't see? I just don't think it's possible. And to be honest, I think he'd like it to stay that way.

A blanket of fog swirled around the trunks of the mighty trees, strangling their roots; take the moisture from their leaves. Thick bracken coveted the forest floor, tiny rodents skittering in and out every so often. The sound of owl's above head alerts you to the inhabitants of the forest. For the modest hoot is followed by an ear-shattering howl, along with the scrapping of claws against the grey soil. The entrance to which you came is no longer seen, blocked by the thick underbrush. Not a single ray of light laminates this graveyard-like place, only the reflection from water puddles leads you forward. A dim ray of light becomes clear to you as you round the corner of a large oak. Walking cautiously over towards it, you read the crude writing embedded into the bark.
Looking around nervously, you begin to pace you way on a heavily overgrown sidewalk, to who-knows-where. You walk with your head slightly bowed, sending a silent prayer to God to let you live through the night. Glancing at your old rolex, you check the time--6:32. Great. You still have another five and a half hours until midnight, to which the rules promise. Something inside urges for you to turn back now, to head out, but the falling darkness behind you lets of an eerie glow. Something isn't right about this forest, that much is immediately obvious. And now, your curious mind has dragged you into a game of life and death.

All stories have a beginning. It doesn't have to be when the world came into existance, for that would be a waste of time telling, and would be completely irrelivent to this tale.
Incanty was nothing special as a pup, nor was his family or friends--an ordinary childhood. It all started about one-hundred years ago, when Neopia was still becoming industrialized. Towns were small, a city was considered five buildings to today's fifty or so. Dust billowed behind the Neopians as they made their way down the wide roads, bits of gravel digging into their pads. Everyone was exquisitly friendly, making a conversation out of the tiniest coincidence of the day. "Why, I reckon that there frog jumped right in front of me simply 'cause he knew I was hungry." As many stories protain to, there was a girl. And she had to be the most amazing sight the young lad's eyes had ever beheld. Her sleek form, that midnight pelt that always appeared glossy, even when there was no light to shine upon it. Aesolle was her name, and she was beautiful. However, there was a catch that came with the fea--she didn't belong to the ordinary family of Lupen, oh no. She was part of a tight-knit pack, lead by a Lupen named Kllah.

of what she lived like would satisfy him. As eleven turned to eleven-thirty, she gradually hinted to him it was time to go home. Taking the hints, he walked off, whispering three words to her as he went, those words only she heard. After she had turned to head the other direction, he stopped in his path, and began to follow behind her. He kept at least twenty feet between them at all time, following her with ease, for her scent was never lost.
She lead him, unknowingly, to a part of the forest that Incanty had never been. Her camp was a round opening in the forest, as if someone had removed all of the trees and debriss from the area. Large stone caves were lined up, pretty trees growing beside them. How... peculuar. She immediately ran towards a large brown Lupe, obviously Kllah, licking his cheek tenderly, and then racing after a much smaller Lupen. Jealousy coursed through Incanty's veins as he watched Aesolle jump on the Lupe's back, and then laugh as he collapsed under her. He loudly cursed mean words at her as she ran off, a smile plastered upon her face. Something was odd about the second one, though. His eyes were a murky grey, with seemingly no pupil.

Keeping a mental track of where the camp was, he headed back to his home. The next night, he headed out once again to meet the Lupess he loved, with full intentions to ask her about what he'd seen. If she hated him, then, well... He wasn't sure what he would do. However, when he got there, she was absent. Fear pulsed through his veins. She had never been late before.
Another ten minutes felt like an eternity as he waited for her to come, but she never did. He finally decided that it was now or never to make his move. Heading towards the camp, he lurked in the outskirts until he located Kllah. The large Alpha was curled in a ball outside of his den, hanging ferns brushing his pelt. The talisman held an eerie glow to it as it lay spewn on the forest floor. The camp seemed to be seemingly scarce besides the resting male, but still he proceeded with caution. With a jump, Incanty turned his head to find the source of an odd rustling in the bushes nearby. He couldn't help but chuckle slightly--only the wind playing tricks on him again! When he turned back around, Kllah was gone.

Many hundreds of years have passed now since she abandoned him, never to be seen again. Since then, Incanty had left his family, left his friends, left his old life behind. He stayed in Haunted Woods, never to go back. He had searched the whole forest with no hope. She was gone. And so, he began to take his anger out on those who entered the forest. If he couldn't be happy, why should they?

But, how do you find her? It's really not a question of how, but why. Why do you want to find her? If you can answer that question to her liking, she'll come to you. But, I guess you have to know what kind of question that is to answer it, right? Of course you do. She's not looking for Because I want to live! I promise you this much, if that's your answer, then she will not come. And the thing is, you only get one time to answer her question. Just once. Once per person anyways. So, think twice about what your going to say.

The Spardel struggles in your arms to be set free. The scratching grows louder still, the TV turned to static once more, an odd buzz filling the room. Just as you feel you may go insane, the scratching stops. You dare not lift your head above the chair's top, for you do not wish to see those eyes looking back at you once more. Oh, why did you have to move here? Why did you have to think that living in front of a forest would be a comfortable thing? Searching your jean pocket, you find your cellphone. Your fingers shake as you begin to dial the three little numbers that could save your life--911.
Just as you're ready to press the talk button, thunder crashes down against the ground outside. Jumping violently, your phone flies from your hands and lands hard against the wall, tumping to the floor lifelessly. You stiffle a scream as a set of eyes glare at your from the other side of your -blocked- Now you realize that they were the eyes you had seen before--blue and souless. And then, as the light from the lightning dims and then disapears, the eyes vanish.
