[ H E L L O, KINSLAYERS ]

First and foremost, welcome to the guild Kinslayer. Before you continue reading, note that we are roleplayers--that is our sole concern, roleplaying. We are lupe roleplayers.

Thinking that you must also possess the ability to draw is absurd, as most people don't always come in a menagerie of talents. B3 If roleplaying is your strength, and you think you're interested in joining our humble adobe, keep going.

IC Notes will be made throughout this page, when certain OOC subjects can be related to an in character subject.

[ A B O U T, KINSLAYER ]

As stated above, Kinslayer is a roleplaying guild. Now, prior to letting you in on plot information and character whatnot, here are a few things that would be good to know... (These aren't rules, just you know, Kinslayer basics.)

We accept any "level", as long as roleplaying is your passion, love, and life. x3 You can type as little, or as much, as you please, given that your post makes sense, is readable, and pretains to the previous post that you're replying to.

However, by joining, you agree that you are going to give us no less than your best. We have faith in all our members, but if for some reason you're not as confident about yourself, then let us know and we'll strive to help you.

Well. Roleplaying takes place on our guild board, for the sake of being easy. Off-site boards are easily forgotten, though they allow for more language and posting, and I would much rather it not be forgotten. You can get a little bit more info on the way posting works, down in the rules section.

If you have people issues, don't even consider joining. Kinslayer should be known as friendly and helpful, not rude and disgraceful. It's not only the roleplay that we value, it's the quality of our members too; and what's a good roleplay if our members are too selfish to care about one another?

Roleplaying is our passion, and friendly members are our goal, but there's a catch. :/ See, now we're getting to the internal stuff.
Any old lupe can't be played here, because the Realm of Kinslayer accepts only those who are scarred, who carry something different than your run-of-the-mill Average Joe. The only lupes that can find the Black Heart of Kinslayer can, in some cases, be considered evil. However, the Black Heart considers them friends, loyalists, and would grant them more than sunshine and daises ever could. (You can learn more about the Realm, and the Heart further down.)

Original characters, with original pasts, that's what we expect to be played. I, Cat, realize that sometimes the above (idea of Kinslayer) can be hard to formulate original ideas from. Despite that, we are going to be picky about the characters that are chosen to be played (NO! this does not have anything to do with the level of your roleplaying ability, but the level of your understanding toward originality and design concepts).

Characters which exploit the devil, or Satan, are not allowed--not for religious sakes, but because honestly, how many lupes have you seen that are messengers of Satan?
- None of these, "GRRRIEATYOURHEART" demons; sly, romantic assassins; ravenous killers with no past of having learned the lust of murder; you get the drift? However, vampires, werewolves, and yes, demons, are allowed to be play here; but they must have some sort of past behind becoming something of the sort.

However! Your character's don't have the be baddest, most cold-hearted snakes on the block. We only want character's that are classified as 'unacceptable', or different, based on society's views. After all, Kinslayer is a sanctuary; once looked down on, anyone can find it if they look...

So sure, I bet you're ready to hear about a plot, now that we're done with all that mushy, blahblahrule crap. xD; As of now, no, there isn't a plot. Amazing, no?! Well, yeah. Okay. Kinslayer, as of now, is a freeform roleplay. The setting is final, but there isn't a pack. No leaders, anything. It's purely a group roleplay, until the sands of time fall away...
Friendships must be formed, and rivalries unraveled for the true art of Kinslayer to come into play.

That rhyme wasn't intended. D:

If you still have questions, and they aren't answered below, feel free to Neomail Cat.

[ R U L E S, GENERAL ]
Guild, chat, etc.

Most of this is just common sense, so if you see something you already know, simply skim it. ;D

Always be kind and respectful: Follow all of the rules. The nicer you are to one another, the smoother things in Kinslayer will go.

Being active in the roleplay is also important, not just in an OOC conversation.

We've discussed this before: roleplaying and originality are the only things required of you, not your drawing abilities. X3

OKAY. This is important, hence, the early mention. If you have any questions, any whatsoever (I don't care if they're about what kind of food to feed your goldfish), A S K. Okay? Ask. Please, ask. There isn't a stupid question in the world, even if it was 2+2=4, right? Yes, that's right.
NOW.
ASK.
OKAY?
THANKS.

Sub-council and council ranks within Kinslayer are earned, not given away. Do not request or beg for a position, as Cat or Ediss will decide eventually who can be trusted with a high spot or administrative powers. Ranks aren't determined by the roleplay, as of yet, but the number of your posts, and your attitude portrayed in the guild.
** IC Note: Because there aren't any ranks sorted among the lupes (or, a pack for that matter), any character could become the leader(s) of Kinslayer. However, to keep automatic claming of the soil at bay, the Black Heart has decided that greed for power is loathsome. Though it is one of the most regarded of sins, the Heart does not want it's property to fall into the hands of a careless, thoughtless ruler. **

OOC conversations are fine, but KEEP IN MIND you can tag OOC messages to the end of your roleplay post, or at the beginning. We won't mind at all if you do this, just be sure to separate the OOC and the IC messages by, you guessed it, OOC/IC or brackets. Most people do this anyway, but, just a heads up. (If your OOC message is long and...long...then just go ahead and post it by itself. ;D) We're...really not too picky about this; but just remember, HUGE OMG OOC conversations aren't appreciated.

Chatspeak is fine, given that you leave it to OOC chit-chat. L337 speak is not. ._.
OMG, WTH, LOL, PLZ, etc = chatspeak, you know? Hell, I don't care how your OOC grammar is, as long as I know what you're saying. XD
Ohoh, smilies are fine too; whatev.

Remember that if you find the need to leave, we will NOT hate you for it. C: We'd like a reason as to why you're leaving, though. Yeah, that'd be nice.

[ R U L E S, ROLEPLAY ]

Basic roleplaying rules apply, omg no wai. Godmoding, powerplaying, and desperate romance are no-nos. Blah, you understand. .__.

We'd like it if your character had a lookup, or better, a petpage with some amount of information. Petpages aren't required, but are an awesome bonus. O:

Absolutely NO wolfspeak. There isn't any reason that this rule should be elaborated, but it should be said that any member using wolfspeak will be warned. It will then be assumed that you haven't read the rules, and our opinion of you will be greatly lowered.

Considering that the setting of Kinslayer is permanent, you're first IC post isn't going to be introducing your character to an island, now is it? X3 The setting of Kinslayer is described below, so, keep going. You're doing great so far.

Speaking of setting, here's a two-part rule.
1) No matter what quadrant your character is played in, he or she doesn't have to be near (or in) any of the major quadrant landmarks. ;D
2) We would greatly appreciate it if you would label in your post subject where your character is at, who they're with, or anything else you'd like to include/can fit in the title. XD; Example: Bob + Sarah ( the tree of life ).

The time in the Realm of Kinslayer will most definitely affect your character, unless, your character doesn't age. You must accept the fact that eventually, your character will grow up and, hopefully, live a long life. But in the end, he or she will die.

Thank goodness for the afterlife! At Kinslayer, the Black Heart doesn't like to see it's population go away forever. If your lupe had formed an attachment before he or she died, then they are undoubtedly given the option of returning as a spirit (since this is your character, you do as you wish, whether it's returning or not, or giving your character a new appearance in the afterlife, or even determining their transparency xD).

The rank of Abolishment is also the rank in which the leaders of Kinslayer will take, once a leader has been decided upon.

Leaders of Kinslayer aren't permanent, and often change. No one is leader forever, and not everyone will get a chance to rule.

How it Works

A close eye is kept on the current lupes in roleplay. Once the council decides it is time for Kinslayer to find a new ruler, they will discuss it in private, before a conclusion is brought forward in the roleplay.

The Black Heart (which is the soul, and life source of the realm) chooses who is currently worthy of rule. When the decision has been made, the ground trembles, and the Tree of Life blossoms with new, fresh buds and leaves.

In order to see who has been named, the citizens of Kinslayer must gather as a group about the tree. If the chosen lupe is present, a single wildflower blossoms at their paws. The bloom quickly shrivels and dies, along with the tree, as things turn into his or her hands.

However, if the one chosen is not present, her roots tremble, and she groans. Her leaves shrivel and fall, and she dies again until a new lupe has been decided upon.

Leaders are chosen at random intervals. One may be chosen in five days, the other, in a month. It's up to the Heart, who rules, and for how long.

[ THE REALM & THE HEART ]

The Black Heart of Kinslayer is really rather spectacular. It (or, he, as some call it) is the soul of the realm, and the life source for all things that live in it's grasp. It's an invisible force, sometimes called love, sometimes hatred, that protects the inhabitants from an outward danger and prosecution.

Many of the rumors say that the Heart lives in the largest cave, just by the Ssyba Lake. Others, say that it's buried with the corpses in the graveyard. Others still simply say that the Heart is a miraculous case of good luck.

Needless to say that no one really knows what the Heart is, this can be said: it lives in everyone.

So!How do you get to Kinslayer? you ask? It's simple. When a lupe is rejected by the public, Kinslayer feels their pain, want, or need to be recognized by their enemies, friends, or surroundings. If the need is sufficient, and the lupe willingly wishes for shelter and a place to get away, then the Realm of Kinslayer opens.

It really is simple.

Kinslayer isn't hard to tell apart from the previous landscape, not at all. Most of the time the sky is overcast (but there are the occasional sunny days); the air is still, but refreshing, and often times silent; there's a certain stench about it, yet the exact fragrance is hard to identify. Sometimes it could be said that the odor is of decomposing bodies and burning flesh, with a slight hint of lavender; but it's dank and muted...easily forgotten about.

Depending on the direction the lupe is traveling, he or she will end up in one of the four quadrants: North, South, East, and West. Keep reading, and you'll see what's located in each sector below...

A.verage Annual Rainfall: 32 Inches

The realm is a magical place, discussed before, deep in the hearts of many...but few will ever find it. It's a beautiful place, with spacious forests in the north and east, and wide rolling plains to the south and west.

Mountains as high as the sky spread near the western hemisphere's equator and end at the center point; many caves and caverns dapple the range. Nearer the center of the realm is an overly large lake, with a deep and ominous abyss; it's rumored that there is no end to it.

One special cave (that resides in the rocky shallows of the lake), at the most eastern part of the mountain system, leads underground to a northern gathering of stone ruins. The path is narrow and treacherous, but very much worth while.

These ruins are centuries old, perhaps even millenniums. Time has aged them well, but the magic and debt surrounding them has not.

The Tree of Life is a special place...in a very sparse, dead forest in the far east. The Tree is the tallest, oldest, and most rugged, with long limbs and root systems that tower and spiral dangerously above ground. It's said to be a place where the dead can gain a new life, and live again as they please...

The Central Quadrant: Here lies the Ssyba Lake, with the River of Ssyba winding its way east through the mountains. Rumors say that the lake has no bottom, and simply goes on forever, however there isn't possibly a way to test this theory. Giant, plentiful fish populate the lake and it's river, which may have spawned said rumor; however, who would complain? It's free seafood, and not all that hard to catch…if you know how to fish. A vast, flat prairie watches the lake and mountain range from the south, supplying ample sunlight to those who wish to cast a line—or paw.

The most centered peak of the mountains…is a relatively small one, however, if you look a bit to the east, it's not hard to see the highest. It reaches far beyond the clouds, high up into the sky where prying eyes couldn't possibly see its spiraling, cathedral-like tip. At the base of this particular mountain is a positively large cavern, with a gap that goes unmeasured. Inside, the floor is mostly flat, but it gets narrower, and is most certainly unknown just how large the cave system is.

The North Quadrant: The northern quadrant is rather plain...with little to offer other than landscape. The tall, stony mountains lie parallel and southbound, but after the formation of such peaks, the earth is still a bit tumbled and heaved. In the north (which supplies the darkest, and thickest, of all the forest in Kinslayer) the ground is anything but flat, but continuously rolls and drops without warning. Sudden cliffs and gorges are commonplace in the north.

…nonetheless, in the northeastern segment, stands a castle. It's absolutely monstrous spires and walls could silence even the noisiest of demon-spawn, or halt a malicious traveler. The Gothic style of the citadel is stunning, yet ominous. It looms high up on a cliff—possibly the highest peak in the northern quadrant—watching the rest of the forest with stained-glass eyes and magnificent arches.

The West Quadrant: The Tree of Life stands tall and firm in the west, and is possibly why the western quadrant has little more to offer. Other than sparse, rolling forest—and the Tree of Life—the western most sectors are barren. However, with the power and utter atmosphere that this particular tree (though withered and dead) holds, it should go without saying why the quadrant is so thin and lifeless.

The Tree stands tall above all others, wasted and cracked through centuries upon centuries of age. Its bark is bleak and hard like stone; almost black like coal. Her branches divorce high into the sky, weaving through the clouds like thousands of spidery legs. Even her roots act like branches, as they crawl up into the air and blow with the wind. However ominous and sinister the tree appears, the gift it gives is undoubtedly the most precious in the entire realm. Life.

Newly deceased, or dead for years, a corpse could be brought to her, and willingly she would supply it with her own life—growing harder and darker with each new life she brings back. There is no end to the love and sheer life-power that the tree contains, and there is nothing to give her in return, but in order to regain a life, one must be brought to her roots and fed the will to live from the unjust citizens of Kinslayer.

It is here, also, that new leaders for Kinslayer are publicly named. All around, the Tree of Life is a popular spot, and known by many of the citizens.

The East Quadrant: Plain, desolate, not much to offer. The east is covered mostly in a mixed forest, with tall evergreens and lush deciduous foliage. The canopy is taught, and good for shelter from the elements. Other than the plant life, shelter is hard to come by; unless you happen upon one of the few natural arches, bridging the hollows with thick limestone or granite.

The river and mountains separate the north from the south, in the east, and are very hard to navigate. Toward the southwest the forest slowly thins out, but trees are still plenty. Fog from the graveyard, and the stench, can sometimes be sited.

The South Quadrant: Most of the south is a quaint valley, covered in a foul smelling fog that rolls out of the cemetery. If a traveler is working their way up from the south, most of the time, the graveyard is the first thing that graces their vision. With a looming gate, and tall swirling bars, it's a wonder that any of the kinder members of Kinslayer ever stay.

After the dead have gained their afterlife, their corpses (sometimes) are moved to be buried here, simply out of respect or choice. There isn't a church, or any building for that matter, in the area...simply a flat, malicious marble orchard.
