OK, say the Pound if finally back up. How long has it been? I'm so glad it's back, how about all of you? Thanks for remaining loyal to my humble pet page when the Pound was down! So, there were a few changes made to the Pound while it was being updated, and I of course need to update the page. :) I am busy with- dare I say it- "real world" stuff, so it would be an accommodation to me is you could wait a while for the updates... a month tops, okay? Please continue to neomail me. Make suggestions for what new stuff I should put on here and all that good stuff. Thanks for coming and enjoy the page.

How do I get to the pound?
Go to Pet Central (there is a link on the sidebar), and scroll down until you see a purple bruce. Or, if you want the easy way,
this link will take you there
Okay... Now what?
Click on either adopt or abandon. The Uni is adopt, the Techo is abandon. HUH??? You don't want to adopt or abandon a pet? Well, click the back button and keep reading this guide... ;)
What does it cost?
To abandon a pet, it costs 250NP, and to adopt a pet the price is different according to the stats. For level one, it costs 87NP to get the pet.
What if I accidently press the button that says 'get rid of me'?
It takes a LOT of little 'don't, please NO!!!!' messages before your pet is actrally in the pound, so basiclly, there's no accident about it. And your pet knows that, so if you try to tell them it was an accident... Well, just don't.
Is it just a rumour, or are Lutaris really not able to be pounded?
No, it's true. They just run away.
I want to transfer my pet to a side account/other player.
I strongly advise not to transfer pets or expect to get them back- you won't! Be careful- if you do expect to get them back, if you're under 4 months, you may not be able to get your pet back- check the notice in the pound for exact regulations.
Do pets keep their stats when in the pound, and with a new owner?
The pet will keep all of its normal stats, level, strength, and so on, but its fishing level will be changed- with its new owner, the fishing level goes back to one, but if you get that pet back- whether an hour later or months later, if you had their level at 50, it will return to fifty. The same goes if the adopter readopts, after pounding the pet with a level 3 fishing level.
You were saying about the 'secrets of the pound'... ?
It's all in the following article! I would like to bring it to your attention that this article is NOT true! I made it up, with the Pound Place and Lab Ray Freezer and all that. Really the pound is just where you adopt/abandon your pets, as I said before. :) Boring, yes, but what if you're account is as old as mine- or older, and you've had the same four pets since you started... It wouldn't be Neopets without the pound.
Kick Me Out?!? Pounding Your Pet
So, you've decided to abandon your pet. All it takes is a few clicks, and 250NP. Besides, they'll be fine at the pound, and they'll be adopted by some nice, caring Neopian the second you abandon them. They'll be all right, hundreds of pets go into the pound and get great owners who love them to bits. In the words of your beloved green Kougra: What?!? You need to learn one thing: IT'S NOT THAT EASY!
By kicking out your darling Neopet, you are sending it out on its own- if it wasn't a desirable type of pet, or had a horrible name, it could be in the pound for weeks, or even months! In other words, by abandoning your number-named Kyrii, you are dooming it to day after day in the pound. Here comes the guilt parade
Think of all the horrible burdens you are giving your pet- they'll miss their sisters, miss their Neohome, and miss YOU. Not to mention the ever-looming terror of the pets that NEEDED to be abandoned. For example, Lupes that howl all night, Skieths that pick on everyone, and Xweetoks that brought their Meepits. While pondering this, you remember that you never took the time to increase your pet's level- they are defenseless.
As a reminder, if you leave a pet, anyone can adopt it. From people who want to give it to the Mad Scientist at the Lab Ray to Neopians promising to take it to the alleged Jelly World, you have no control! And when you look up your pet in the sidebar with someone else's name under 'owner,' your heart is filled with pain You see that what was once your sweet Uni is now lab-rayed into a Jetsam- a Limited Edition pet, yes, but it doesn't look so keen to use your full set of Grooming Parlor products anymore- not that you'd be able to brush them anymore, you have to leave that to the new owner.
I had my pet investigate the pound so that I could bring you exclusive insight and reveal the deep, dark secrets of the pound. First, here is a bit of background information. Pets get one-hour breaks in between activities, where they go to their rooms. I found that these rooms are supplied by none other than the fabulous Astrovilla! So, next time you ask yourself why the pound is so big, just think of the nice, expensive hotels that your pets beg you to stay at. All of the rooms in the pound are named after a Neopet species, for example the Blumaroo Ballroom, used for monthly dances, and the Gelert Gym, where pets go every Tuesday for lessons in swimming, gymnastics, and for some of the more sport-oriented pets, beginner classes in Yooyuball. What an establishment! Well, without further ado, I present to you the never-before-seen secret schedules of pounded Neopets.
6am-9am: The pound is filled with yawning pets on their way to the Draik Dining Hall, found to the left of the Blumaroo Ballroom, for their breakfast. After breakfast, the pets head over to the Shoyru Salon to make them look sad when possible owners come to see them.
10am-1pm: All pets get some exercise For most, by mopping, sweeping, cleaning, and herding petpets. For the aquatic pets, like the Koi and Peophins, it's off to the lake to catch Butterfish and Breadfish for Fish Friday.
2pm-3pm: Everyone gets Dinunch (din-uhn-ch), a combination of lunch and dinner. For this delightful meal, Neopets all line up for the buffet. The pets get salad, sandwiches, and water. For dessert, it's back outside.
4pm-7pm: Mow the grass, tend the gardens, and paint the outside of the pound Then run back inside before the nocturnal Neopians see who really keeps the pound in such great condition!
8pm-5am: Sleep, sleep, sleep! But first, a bedtime story is broadcasted through the loudspeakers in the corners of each room.
It's not forced labor, though- these Neopets get paid! Yes, they get paid 100NP a day! The 250NP charge to abandon a pet doesn't go towards food; it goes towards pets' salary! To keep all of this a secret, pets don't go into the Neopian Bazaar; they go to the Pound Place- where Neopets can buy snacks, toys, and furniture for their rooms! My pet told me something amazing- for 10,000NP; a pet could buy a one-use device that freezes the lab ray! If their new owner tried to lab them, the result would just be 'no change.' Amazing! It seems that the only items that the pets cannot buy are paint brushes and morphing potions that change their appearance.
So, according to my pet, as long as the Neopets are behaved, they're pretty well off. But let's get back to you. Say you never read this article, and you don't know how your pet is doing. You think that they are wasting away in a tiny cage! When you hurry over to the pound to reclaim them, they have already been adopted. You head home with your other pets.
Do you want to make sure that you will never make the same mistake again? Don't worry, just read on to find out how you can create and care for a pet that you will never dream of pounding!
1.) The very first thing you do when creating a pet: choose its species! Make sure you like the type of pet you decide on. No, not like it, make sure it is your absolute favorite!
2.) A very, very important part of a pet- its name! Numbers make you want to put it in the pound, as well as all caps names. Make sure you LOVE the name!
3.) For gender, color, hobbies, and all that, make sure that they are your favorites! On some pets, red might make you angry, blue may make you cold, yellow is too bright, and green is just not the right shade. Make sure you choose the right color for your pet!
4.) Take your pet to see the Neopian world! Have it find its species or its homeland. For example, if you had a Lutari, you would take it to Terror Mountain to find the one Lutari that lives there, and then to Lutari Island.
5.) Play games with your Neopet! One of my pets' favorites is Kacheek Seek. Guess The Card and Cheat are also fun games for pets!
6.) Buy, buy, buy! Toys, your pet's favorite food, and for rich Neopians, maybe even a paint brush! Don't forget to buy it a room for your Neohome and some great furniture.
7.) Help it organize its new room! Get it a few beanbag chairs, or name a garden after them.
8.) Get a perfect petpet! Stay away from Abominable Snowballs, some Neopets think you're being cheap with those.
9.) Make memories! With lots of wonderful thoughts about your pet, you will never even get the idea of pounding them!
10.) Last but not least; Love your pet.
Well, next time you think about pounding a pet, come back to this article. I hope you enjoyed reading this as much as I did writing it! If you were wondering, I have adopted one pet and pounded two, and all of them have gone to owners who take very good care of them. I don't regret getting rid of my pets, as they are in good hands, and I hope if you make the choice to abandon your pets, you have good luck as well- but I sincerely hope that you don't get rid of any pets! Have a great day, and to your Neopets- you are lucky to be with your owner!

Think of all the poor, innocent pets in the pound, abandoned by their owners, think of how they must miss the lives they once had, and long to go back to, the lives that are right there but are just too far away, ponder how you would like to be alone in the pound, waiting, waiting, waiting, with all your heart for someone to take you away from the horror that is what you have been experiencing for days... You can save them! You can, you can make all the difference in that pet's life! Adopt a pet and save a pet! In the words of my little brother, supaspk, "But, only four pets? I want to save them all! They look so sad!" He kindly adopted his four pets, won't you do the same? If you want to put a happier face on Neopia, adopt a pet today! Well, adopt four, and then four more on each of your four side accounts... Four seems to be the number here... Back to adoption. Adopt a pet and make the biggest impact ever on your dear new pet's face. Like that horrible 'Disown Your Pet' Techo said, "Neopia is a very dangerous land, and a pet without an owner isn't going to last very long..." Adopt Today!
Here's my own quick version of "Leaps and Bounds".
I adopted Meow8892 from the pound when I had an account of about 2 months. She had low stats and was Level One. At the time she was a green Kougra. After a while, I had created an avatar pet page (the link is in the link section at the bottom of the page), raised her stats and her level, and painted her Purple!
The pound, very noticeably, has been down for months. Why is TNT not fixing it? We need the pound! So, yes, I have noticed that the pound is down. :P Until it comes back, we wait.
