You feel like Cinderella - at a ball, the clock ticking away the last thirty minutes until midnight. As you extricate yourself from a group of friends and admirers to get a bite to eat, a door catches your eye. It's off to the right of the stage, a beautifully chocolate-colored door with an elegantly wrought handle. You slip over to the door, and as you reach it, you realize it's made of wood - strange and quaint for such a fancy, upscale hotel. You open the door, cast a look behind you to make sure no one sees, and step inside.
The room is beautiful. The walls are the same pure chocolate hue as the door, with fur couches in beige and cream tones. There's even a fireplace with faded bricks in the corner. But the thing that catches your eye is the journal. It's a simple little thing, a tan cover with dark brown stitching to bind it. You flip it over and see the name Imma embroidered in small, delicate stitches. You turn the diary right side up and open it, curious.
January 28th, 390th year in the rule of the Ealis - Hello.
My full name is Countess Hyiima Chaunteer, former ambassador to the Queen of Aque. My lady died last week, of a sickness not even the most powerful of spirits could cure - that of love. Something I have never experienced, and have now vowed to never seek. I didn't marry into my land; I was born Countess Hyiima, though I only use my title among those of equal or greater importance. To most I am just Imma, the well-off girl who likes playing in the gardens and befriending the servants. That's why the Queen wanted me as ambassador. I love the common people. Court was not made for me; I fidget when others are talking, become distracted, and show my emotions too clearly on my face.
Anyway, you are not here to hear me ramble about nonsense. You must be here to listen to what is happening with my life, the commoners, and the people of the Court. Aque is the most prosperous place in all of Silo, as it will always be as long as goodly spirits are here to rule it. Thank you for reading this - you are ensuring that the knowledge gained and shared in Aque will never be lost.
Profilenecesito un revamp! =D SPANGLISH YUSHH
backstoryI SWEAR, I /WILL/ UPDATE THIS. IT'S ON THE LIST RIGHT AFTER DREA AND SPARKS. xDD I may do this and Spark's page in December. Depends. Mostly editing the current entries, adding to them, adding more entries entirely, and fixing all the pictures with her updated design. OH and making sure that the storyline matches up with Dezzi's, Vi's and Drea's. The woes of intermingling characters.
Intrigued, you flip to the next page. Carefully glued into the journal is a picture, really a sketch shaded in quickly with watercolor pencils - you assume it's a part of the gardens in Aque. You realize that Imma isn't exactly the best artist. Your eyes impatiently wander over to the next journal entry, which has another glued-in piece that you quickly realize is a letter. You start reading the entry from the beginning:
January 29th, 390th year in the rule of Ealis - Hello again.
Today I received a letter. That in itself isn't news, but the sender is - none other than the aunt to Prince Taindrea Ealis. She goes by Kitty, and seems to be a very polite lady. I have glued in her letter for you to read below:
To Countess Hyiima Chaunteer, from the scribes of Prince Taindrea Ealis, greetings.
I, Miss Kitty, current regent of Aque and aunt to the Prince, wish you the best. Our dear Prince, and for that matter all of our staff here with the Prince, wish to cordially invite you into our midst as the new royal adviser to Taindrea Ealis. We'd like you to come in for an interview with myself at the royal dining room at 6 o'clock on January 31st.
We would appreciate you RSVPing to this event, so that we have time to reschedule if you cannot make the dinner at this time. Feel free to contact me at any of my addresses: darigankat, missmaryadams, subliminalisamazing, condescending, or kittehboo. Please take a look through our royal resume, which I have included in this letter. If you would like to learn more about the prince, I have included a bit of information on a separate sheet of paper.
Miss Kitty, regent of Aque and aunt of Prince Taindrea Ealis.
You finish reading that entry and turn the pages more eagerly now.
January 30th, 390th year in the rule of the Ealis - Hello
Today was absolutely amazing. To the left you can see a rough sketch of the dress I wore to the dinner - isn't it gorgeous? I only wish the prince had been there, since he will be the one I'm advising, after all. But all the people I met with were very nice, and especially the regent herself. Apparently she wants him to take over as soon as he gets a proper adviser - I think she's planning on making herself mortal.
After the dinner, Kitty gave me a pamphlet highlighting all the things I can expect if I take the job. It's quite a lot, but I managed to cut and glue in all the parts I really liked.
Hello again, Imma. I put this little paper together so you can see all the highlights of your life if you decide to accept this offer. First off here are a few of the wardrobe ideas I had for you - do you like them? If you do choose to become a part of our royal staff, it shouldn't be a problem to get you some of these dresses and many more.
The next thing I'd like to show you is someone very near and dear to me - his name is Tae, and he's a purple faellie. He's been living in and around the gardens of our kittehboo palace for ages now. He seems to have a love of flowers, especially Hibiscus and Lavender. I believe you also enjoy gardens, so I thought you two would be good for each other. If you chose to stay with us, Tae will be going to you, if you would like to take him.
On the topic of gardens, I am quite sure that the Prince wouldn't begrudge you one of your own. Our palaces here are vast enough that a personal garden for a royal adviser wouldn't be an issue at all. I also believe it wouldn't be a problem to get you seeds, clippings, fresh soil... anything you need for it. Outside of the rooms we picked out for you there is a rather ideal spot for a garden. As an added bonus, you would be able to view it from the balcony leading off from your rooms. If you'd like to bring some flowers from your home palace in Mortimae, that would also be perfectly acceptable.
I told Kitty about this diary of Court, and she said that as long as I kept it safe from prying eyes, it was a grand idea. As far as my rooms, they're huge and absolutely beautiful, bedecked in purples, green and blue. I swear they must keep tabs on everyone at Court to find out what they like. I'm honored, in a way, that they chose me, out of all the older, more experienced people in the court.
I am very excited. I really do want to go to this new home - it's beautiful, and they promised me an entire garden, and that adorable little faellie... But then again, I haven't met the prince yet, and that's mostly what this hinges on. I'm not sure how I can make my decision so soon. I plan on going to the palace again, on the first of February, to a ball. Hopefully I'll meet the prince there.
With a feeling of shock, you realize that you are at a ball, and that someone is probably looking for you. Shaking your head, you turn back to the diary, wondering what the next entry will entail.
January 31st, 390th year in the rule of the Ealis - Goodness!
So many preparations to make! To the right you can see a picture of me in the gown I plan to wear to the ball. Isn't it lovely? Apparently it's been in my family for generations or something. Today has been boring, but very, very busy. I filled out a lot of paperwork, hung around in the kitchens for awhile, talked with Kitty quite a bit, and got to look around the palace again. This tour was a lot more in-depth, and a lot less formal. Kitty's actually really funny sometimes. Everyone at the palace is so polite, and everything there is beautiful, even more so than the palace where I live. It seems a little strange; The palace for the rulers is less elegant than the one for their son.
I'm still a little in awe of the place, but there really isn't much time for that. I need to see if I can coax the hairdresser to put my hair up and find a proper ride to the palace - walking there and back two days in a row wasn't a good plan. I must be off now, too much to do. I simply can't wait until tomorrow night!
February 1st, 390th year in the rule of the Ealis - Wonderful
Yesterday was perfect. The ball kept up to the standards I've been shown - everyone looked so fancy, I almost felt underdressed. But the real good thing about the ball was that I finally got to meet the Prince, and shockingly, I didn't know for hours.
You see, this blue bori in a fancy suit came up to me for a dance. After he had his dance, he convinced me to come up to the balcony to look at his favorite garden. We talked as he led me through the many halls of the palace, and I liked him. He was kind in a way that was completely genuine - not like many people of the Court who sugar-talk to get what they want. He seems a lot younger than seventeen; I can see why they want an adviser for him, he's incredibly naive and childish.
While that's not the greatest attitude to have if you're going to be the next ruler of the only spirit-kingdom in Silo, it is very endearing - as far as I can tell, everyone who's talked to the Prince simply loves him. But, ah, anyways, it was a good night, and I think it really made up my decision about the ball.
The next few pages are blank, and then you find a page that's covered in writing. It's smudged, though - the words are impossible to make out, except for three.
The next page has something shoved hastily into it. It's a paper, a flyer. You take a look at it.
Frustrated, you throw down the diary. You realize that you may never know what happened to Imma. On the back of the journal, however, something catches your eye. It's a note, in the handwriting you recognize as Kitty's. Eager to learn more, you grab the journal again and begin to read:
This is a very incomplete account of the life of Countess Hyiima Chaunteer. She was a soul-spirit residing in Aque, who acted as a goddess of desire for certain mortals residing in neopia. She met the Prince Taindrea Ealis and fell in love with him. He broke her heart by leaving the kingdom to find and protect a young, seemingly-mortal girl named Sparks. Driven crazy with grief she fell into a state she would never truly return from.
Meanwhile, Hyiima realized that she would soon be having a child. She went to the only person who remained her friend and entrusted the baby, Dezzipoia, to this friend. When the child became older, she ran away from home, following the death of her childhood pet and the outbreak of a deadly disease in Aque. Meanwhile, Hyiima returned to Silo and wasted away, miserable from all that she had lost.
I would very much like to thank you for taking the time to read this book. It means a lot that the story of such a tragedy can be told to others, so that the same mistakes may not be repeated. Thank you.
You drop the diary and stare at the fireplace for a second. You think you catch a glimpse of brown out of the corner of your eye. As you jump up and race for the wooden door, you think you hear a whisper.
I swear that I will never seek love.
As you close the door behind you, the clock rings out midnight. You turn to get one last look at the beautiful chocolate door - but it's already disappeared.
this needs tweaks
