Faerie Says:
Happiness, Joy and Good Karma to everyone! I'm here to help
you get your dream pet. Follow a few simple pointers and someone might be
neomailing YOU one day soon!
|
..: For Dream Pet Seekers
:..
Here are the things
you need to consider
-
Make a list of your dream pets
-
Make sure your status is set to stealth so it is clear you are Premium
-
Neomail alecto00 and she will add you to
Texan_too's page
-
Consider what you look like as a potential adoptive home
-
Do you have 4 pets already?
-
Are you planning to put new pets on a spare?
-
Are your pets well cared for?
-
If
you're asking for very rare pets, it may be some time before you hear
from anybody wanting to rehome one.
-
It's very timeconsuming keeping the
wishlist up to date. For this reason, only
Premium members will be added
-
If
you're asked questions about where you'll be keeping the pet - tell the
truth!
-
If
you're told you may be getting the pet, do NOT post the pet details on
the boards until AFTER the transfer
-
Most people on the Charter Pound board won't do applications
for pets. If an owner is asking for an application for their pet (petpages,
art, stories etc) it's normally to satisfy their own need for attention
rather than finding the best owner. You could very easily just cut and
paste an application - it wouldn't tell the owner any more about your
pet-ownership skills than they could find out by talking to you and
looking at your accounts.

..: For Rehomers :..
Here are the things
you need to consider
-
Go
to
Texan_too's page
-
People are listed in the order in which they asked to be added - there's
no other significance
-
People listed first are not 'first in line'.
It's up to you, as the owner, to decide who you would like to approach
about your pets
-
People on the
wishlist have not been
screened
for 'good pet ownership'. However, there are some people who have been
taken off the list.
-
If
someone approaches you about your pet and they're not on the list,
consider why not.
-
Don't necessarily assume that someone who has 4 pets on their main is
only looking to adopt onto a spare. Ask them and see!
-
Check
Euphineia's page to see some recent
transfers - this is a good way to work out who has rehomed pets before
and is a good owner
-
If you're
unsure, mail someone who rehomes a lot of pets, and ask their advice.
-
Check the
wishlist before you advertise on the board. Posting details of
pet species, colour or name can alert those with auto-adopters to try
and interrupt the transfer.
-
Asking for
applications for your pets on the charter pound board isn't a very
nice way to find a new home. Getting people to 'beg' for your pet just
makes you look like an attention-seeker. Mail people and talk to them -
get to know who they are, check out their accounts and ask for
references from other charter pounders, so that you can rehome your pets
to them safely.

"I'm not paid enough to do this job. And lilac is NOT my colour" |
Sidekick Gnome
Says:
If I catch anyone who has links
with auto-adopters, offers to trade or sell pets, or takes pets purely to
pound them a few days later, you'll be taken off
the list and, if appropriate, reported.
People who don't play nicely
will get taken off the list.
Charter pounding
is for pounding and adopting.. not chat! If all you have to say is 'hi'
and 'anyone here' then you're in the wrong place. Main Hall usually has a
chat & pound board with most of the same people.
Asking
for pet applications doesn't tell you anything you couldn't find out just
by talking to someone, checking their accounts and taking up references.
Some of the best pet apps are easily cut and pasted and I've seen pets
pounded again very quickly afterwards.
Asking
for applications may make you feel important and give you attention, but
is it really finding you the best home for your pet?

Sometimes, if I see pets being
randomly pounded, I'll grab them for someone on the
wishlist.
Don't make me come get you!

ADOPTION STEPS
-
Open a window with
the quick adopt link in for the pet you are adopting
-
Click the link.
You will get one of the following messages:
-

:Go
and take more NP out of the bank so you have enough to adopt
-
Error:
You already have four pets, you cannot adopt another one!
: Are you
adopting on the right account?
-
Error: Your account is
not old enough to adopt this pet!
:

species.
-
Error: Terribly sorry,

:
This means you're good to go
-
When you are
ready, tell the owner
-
The owner will tell you a time
they will pound
-
Begin refreshing the quick adopt
link a few seconds before that time, and keep refreshing until you see
you have the pet, or you get an error message :

..: Sidekick Gnome's Adoption
Tips :.. AutoAdopters -
these are illegal programs which refresh constantly in the pound. You
can't defeat them, but you can follow some simple guidelines to maximise
your chances of avoiding them.
- Always use the quick adopt link:
www.neopets.com/process_adopt.phtml?pet_name=PETNAMEHERE
- Check whether the person you are
adopting to, or adopting from, has transferred before. If not, direct
them to this page and make sure they understand the steps.
- Explain the process you're going to use
and be sure they understand.
- Try and keep
discussions about the pet off the boards until you've done the transfer.
- If pet info has already been posted, it
might be wise to wait a day or so before transferring.
- Use IM so you can co-ordinate
the exact moment of transfer. If you HAVE to post a time, make sure your
window is refreshed regularly - neopets time can desynchronise and even
a second makes a difference
- Refresh the Quick Adopt Link and make
sure that it is giving you the right message (See above)
- Start refreshing a few seconds
before the agreed time, and don't stop refreshing until the owner tells
you, or you know you got the pet
- Owners! When you click the button in
the pound to release the pet, it will take approx 5 clicks. When you see
the message 'Oh please noooooo!' this is the LAST step. When you click
this, your pet will be pounded.
- Try not to transfer at weekends.
Tues-Thurs seems to be the safest time.
- If it goes wrong, and someone
else adopts the pet, you may neomail and ask them politely if
they'd be prepared to return the pet.
- If you are transferring between your
own accounts, use two different browsers. For example, use Firefox for
account 1 and Internet Explorer for account 2. This way, you can be
logged into both at the same time
