Welcome, guest, to my little quarter of Neopets, which is dedicated to probably one of the biggest enigmas game-wise in the whole of Neopets. I'm talking about none other than the mysterious artist or programmer that appears in many, many games - often hidden away as a secret spot.

- We're rebuilding! Once Hjoma's mom manages to get her head down to it, the site will get an overhaul and become a lot more managable. Please remain patient.
Update 16/12 07': Yeah... we're still working on a better layout. Don't expect it to come just yet, though. Mom is lazy.

Seeking

At the current moment, I am seeking screenshots from Trouble At The National Neopian. Mr. Wierdo is said to appear as one of the visitors around level 16, and hands you 25 points. Also, I seek pictures of him popping up in The Buzzer Game - where and when he appears, however, I have yet to figure out.

Screenshots of Mr. Wierdo from Snowball Fight - IN game - is also searched for (credits to neosjaclyn for the information - credits to kailey491 for confirming the rumour)!

According to a rumour, Mr. Wierdo is apparently not only on the Attack Of The Revenge front page, but actually within the game itself. Anyone seen him? - credits to frycook4.

Avast! A new look?!?

Mr. Wierdo has gotten a new look? At the Altador Cup-staff page, Mr. Wierdo has apparently gotten a haircut, and has lost his grin. Will this mean that we'll see a new version of him in games soon?

Collection
(all screenshots taken by me with the exception of the Brucy B, the Attack Of The Gummy Dice and the Ice Cream Machine screenshots):

With a LOT of thanks to Jaded Punk Chick for letting me use this screenshot of Mr. Wierdo appearing in Brucy B Slots!!

Clicking on the eye of Deiter will reveal Mr. Wierdo.

Clicking the right eye of the Meerca will turn it into Mr. Wierdo - Mighty Keeper of the Fish Neggs!

The same reveals him in Meepit Juice Break - only it's the green meepit in the background's eye that you have to click on.

The very first place I spotted him. He only appears while the slots are spinning.

I was, to put it mildly, surprise to see him here. Notice the strange text applied to the square. What the bonus this square gave I never found out, as I was staring and wondering so long that I ran out of time... However, I have later been told that the Head clears the ENTIRE board when it reaches the bottom - thank you to all the people who informed me!

Finally having arrived at the very final level of Hannah And The Ice Caves, I found him to be standing in the background, too! He appears randomly when entering the level (thanks to _petpet_adopter_ for letting me know about this last information.

Thanks to Slurpy_headache for directing my attention to this game. To find Mr. Wierdo, click on the spot on the Feepit that's been marked with green colour.

Another one thanks to
Slurpy_headache - this time in her game-codes page. Go there to see how to get him in Tyrannian Mini Golf.

As you can see, he also pops up in Whack-A-Staff-Member. However, he appears more rarely than the other members. Also, when he is hit, he makes this INSANE laughter. He appears more frequently now than he did previously, so you should have a fair chance of seeing him.

Clicking the purple jewel in Fyora's crown will display Mr. Wierdo. (Thanks to Jenny for letting me know about this)

Clicking the right eye of the Yurble on the start screen of Attack of the Slorgs will show Mr. Wierdo.

Going to the Instructions page of Ice Cream Machine, and clicking on the eye of the Fish Scoop would turn it into Mr. Wierdo. HOWEVER: The fish scoop trick ceased working with a new version of ICM that went up a couple of weeks after its release to fix some glitches that people had found. Now, the scoop is a Heart-scoop that turns into a Cherry Scoop when you click the spot that USED to be the Fish Scoop's eye. Now, Mr. Wierdo only appears if you wait at the screen that appears between levels.

Icecream Machine featuring Mr. Wierdo, in his new place after the Fish Scoop incident. Thanks to Edabell for supplying me with this picture.

By clicking on the eye of the purple bruce in the background (marked with red), Mr. Wierdo will appear along with a ghostly laughter. Credit to jedi_guy12 and pets_r_my_thing for letting me know about this.

If you click the part of the bone currently covered by Mr. Wierdo, you will find that he pops up in Destruct-O-Match II.

Not entirely surprising, you can also find him in The Great Quasalan Caper. Knowing about Mr. Wierdo's fondness for eyes, I take it that you can figure out where to click on your own...

One conclusion: Mr. Wierdo isn't good at skiing - he'll head down the slope, land in an ungraceful heap and then sink into the snow. Appears on the front page of the game.

Credit to Unaangel for discovering this. Click the green techo's left eye (meaning the eye that is almost hidden by his nose), and Mr. Wierdo will appear in a toga and laurels. Funnily enough, the laurels were actually given out to the winners of a competition, and weren't standard headwear... And yes, I played for Haunted Woods.

Credit to lillybell26 for notifying me of this and providing the screenshot.

Known things

On the About Us-page, someone named "The Phantom Orange-Shirt Guy" appears. This would be our little guy.

It appears that nothing less than the SITE SPOTLIGHT round 432 was about... The Oddities of Neopets' Games. Of course, Mr. Wierdo appears quite often. Please go look at Jaded_Visions' petpage.

Rumours tell that the name of The Phantom Orange Shirt Guy should be Ollie, short for Oliver. These are backed by several replies in the Neopian Times editorial (please see further down).

His account name on Neopets, however, has been confirmed to be obrodhage - you may meet him on the Neoboards from time to time. He became infamous during the Altador plot for dropping enough red herrings to feed an army of Meowclops, and, in particular, made many people believe that the Tyrannian Food Shop had some kind of connection with the plot. There was even made a link to the Neopedia entry about Altador to further confuse everyone.

There appears to be some obsession with eyes concerning this character - as many of those events where he appears involve the pressing of an eye. Perhaps he pokes the other staffmembers in the eyes if they don't put him into a game?

According to some, Mr. Wierdo is J. Boogie, whose name appears in the original Meerca Chase if you click the upper right corner (you can find that game here. However, HE IS NOT! Go to this page, and you will see that J.Boogie is NOT Mr. Wierdo. Some searching on my part has revealed that, at least according to Neopian rumour, J.Boogie was the mastermind behind the original Meerca Chase.

Quote from the Editorial in Neopian Times edition 177:
Uh, is it a coincidence that the Ice Cream Machine theme sounds somewhat like Meepit Juice Break's? Cause I love it!:D
Hehe, it is quite possible they sound similar. They were both written by our resident games guru and musician Oliver - yay for Oliver!

Mr. Wierdo is known to have appeared in many games - and both in Ice Cream Machine and Meepit Juice Break. Many have concluded that due to his apperances in so many of the newer games, he has to be either THE person behind it, or at least one of the people that has had a large hand in their making.

Quote from Neopian Times Editorial edition 187:
I was just listening to the Grand Theft Ummagine song. It was so fun to listen to! Could you please tell whoever does the music that he/she is doing a great Job!
That would be ThePhantomOrangeShirtGuy. Glad you like his work, not only does he make great games, but he does all the music himself too and has his own band :)

If you want to know more about the person behind TPOSG, then please go to this little petpage.

That was all for now. Should you have seen this mystery person in any other games, please grab a screenshot, or just inform me of which game.
