  • Step 45: Find the Gatherer

And now, it's time to search for the 8th constellation! It is that of Gordos, the Collector! Careful now, this one can be a bit tricky at first!

You'll want to start out by heading to one of the Altadorian shops I've listed for you. Your choices are Exquisite Ambrosia, Illustrious Armoury or Magical Marvels . Only one of these three shops will work for you (and it's random for everyone), so if you follow my instructions and nothing seems to happen, try a different shop. Once you're in a shop, TAKE NOTE OF THE INFLATION RATE. It will usually be a single number, a decimal point, and then two more numbers. You know, something like 3.21%. Depending on the inflation rate you see (and it will be different for each shop in Altador), move the decimal point over TWO PLACES to the right: this will be the amount of NP you'll need onhand to complete this activation process. Confused? Here's a visual for you!

See how my inflation rate at this particular shop is at 2.41%? By simply moving the decimal point over two places, I ended up with a need for 241 NP: exactly the amount I have with me! In order to get the proper amount of NP on hand, go to the bank and deposit all the NP you have with you. Then just withdraw the correct amount.

If you've done it right (and after you've refreshed the page a few times if need be), you'll find SOME type of item that's going for the exact amount of NP you have with you. Referring back to the picture above, I refreshed a few times and suddenly the Altadorian Scales appeared for 241NP. Keep in mind, ACTIVATION ITEMS CAN BE DIFFERENT! I've seen this particular item, as well as a coin purse with scales printed on it so far, and I'm sure there are other things too. The two key features the item will have is that:

    1) It is the same price as the NP you have with you, and
    2) It will either be, or have a picture of, the scales.

Go ahead and buy the item, whatever it may be. When you do, you'll see this:

Note that the item you "bought" isn't an actual item: you don't have anything in your inventory, nor will any NP have been spent. If you're one of those people that likes having lots of NP on hand, you can go back to the bank at this time and withdraw whatever you'd like.

Just to back to the Altadorian Archives and visit Finneus. Nothing special. He'll say this to you:

And now, off you go to the Observetory to find the constellation!

Here's the visual you're so used to seeing by now:

This constellation isn't too hard to find in my opinion (as compared to something like The Wave). Connect stars 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 together with one line. Because these connected stars don't make one straigh line, you MUST mae sure you're selecting the proper stars! If the stars don't seem lined up properly, you've probably misclicked on an incorrect star. Once you have that first line, simply connect star 6 to star 3 (again, make sure you don't seclect an incorrect star). This is another one of those constellations that make take some time to connect properly: If it doesn't work the first time, try selecting stars around what you think it the correct constellation. Sooner or later, you'll get all 6 of the proper stars connected! Once you do, you'll eventually see this:

Head back down to the Hall of Heros as usual, and click on the Collector's Statue (he's the Skeith). Go ahead and click on the hidden link, and look at the pretty gems!

Wanna find out what the janitor us up to? You know you want to!

Err... yes, right then. Head back to Finneus and listen to what he's got to say. And make sure to read the next chapter in the Book of Ages!

We're narrowing down the potential betrayers! Who could it be? Nooobody knows... yet! While you're pondering, head over to the Astronomy Club to watch the drama unfold:

Exciting stuff, huh? It is, indeed!

Horray, you're all set to find your 9th constellation! Make sure you pay attention to EVERYTHING here- one mistake, and you won't be able to activate your constellation! And it's so much easier to get it right the first time then have to go back and repeat things, yes?

You'll need to start out here by visiting the Altadorian Archives. Wait, who's that there? Why, it's our old friend the LC Lenny!

Click on him. When you do, you'll see this:

Easy as pie! Go visit Finneus, and click on the vase I've marked for you (it'll distract him, so you can grab the meepit plushie!):

And while his back is turned, click on the Meepit plushie on the table there!

Once you get it, Finneus will be a bit confused...

Return to the Altador Archives where the LC Lenny is waiting for you, and click on him to give him the plushie. When you do however...

Drat, it's not the right plushie! Return to Finneus at this point. You've got to get the right one, after all!

Ohhh, that explains it! He's got more then one meepit plushie! But we've got to find the exact plushie that the LC Lenny wants! In order to do this, you first need to click on the handle of the door to the left of the Altadorian Archives (I've marked it for you):

When you do, you'll see the following (note that the door locations might be slightly different for each person- there's more of an explination in the next paragraph):

You'll first note that there's at least one "Main Door", which is the larger door with the smaller orange rectangles. I've marked the main doors I first saw on my own screen, but again, yours might be different. You'll also notice one "Side Door" which is the smaller, more basic door. Your goal is to find the one side door that's clickable. To do this, just click on a main door, then click on the one side door in that room. If it's not clickable, try another main door and the next side door you come too. And eventually, you'll find the one clickable side door. When you do, you'll see this:

Go ahead and click on the "Hide Box" button, in order to see the following:

Bwhaha! Two can play at this game, right? Go ahead and return to Finneus at this point, in order to see this:

There it is, that's the plushie you want! Go ahead and click on the vase once more to get Finneus to turn his back to you. When he does, click on the Meepit Plushie once more! When you do...

You got it! Excellent! Take it back to the LC Lenny in the Altadorian Archives. He's waiting for this plushie!

Uh oh? What does THAT mean? Click on the "Uh oh?" button and find out. Oh dear, this can't be good...

Yikes, the poor meepit! But wait, what's that hidden in all the fluff? Click on it to find out.

Well, will you look at that! It's a dagger! And it's also now glowing with the newest constellation!

From here, go back to Finneus as you normally would during the second step of any constellation activation process. He'll say this to you:

    Go find that constellation!

    Your visual, as promised:

The Thief is a bit tricky to find and connect properly, so make sure you take your time. Connect stars 1, 2, 3, and 4 together first to form your diamond shape, then connect stars 5 and 6 together to star 3 with one line. Again, this one might be tougher because it's easy to click on incorrect stars, so make sure you try various combinations of stars in the same area if you have to! Once you find the constellation, mark it correctly, and submit it, you'll be rewarded with this image:

Go ahead and return to the Hall of Heros at this point, and check out the gems above Kelland's statue. They too, are glowing!

Go ahead and talk to the Janitor if you want to. Seem's he's not a fan of the LC Lenny...

Yikes, he's upset again! But I agree with him, those LC questions can be quite tricky! Oh well, on you go, back to Finneus to discuss your latest discovery!

Wow, the traitor is still out there? It wasn't Kelland? Hmm...well, who is it then? Guess we'll have to find out later on! While you're here, don't forget to read the newest chapter in the Book of Ages!

Head on over to the Astronomy Club as you usually do at this point. You're in for a bit of a treat:

Wow, isn't that neat? The "Astronomy Club" is yours! It's an actual item in your inventory, so make sure to put it in your gallery or SDB as fast as you can!

Ok, here we go with the next constellation. Make sure you have some time to hang out at the computer for a while- this one can take some time.

Ultimatly, the first goal is to find a petpet hidden in either The Docks, The Perfectly Flat Rock Quarry, or The Farm. If your petpet is hidden at the Docks, you'll see it behind one of those white pillars. If it's hiding at the farm, it'll be peeking out from behind a haystack. And should your petpet be at the Rock Quarry, you'll see the petpet behind a tree, like this:

Click on the petpet. Yes, it's the same type of petpet for everyone. You'll see the following:

The poor little petpet! Because you're nice and you want to help it (and you want to find the next constellation), head back to Finneus as instructed. The petpet isn't an item that appears in your inventory, but you'll automatically take it to Finneus when you visit him:

From here, return to the Altadorian Archives where the bulliten board is located. Click on the Alchemy Club Flier (that's the one in the top righthand corner with the picture of the potion). The Quiggle of the club will offer you some petpet medication for the insane price of 30,000 Neopoints! Relex, you don't actually need to have 30,000 Neopoints: you do NOT have to pay this amount, nor will it be deducted from your account in any way (even if you do have 30,000 Neopoints on hand). Go ahead and click on the picture of the medication to "buy" it.

And the next screen you see will be this:

See there, nothing to worry about! The medication isn't a real item either, so you can't loose it, misuse it, or anything like that. While you don't have to go back to the petpet at this time, you can if you want. You'll see that the option to give it medicine is available. There are still a few more things you need before you can start the process of healing the petpet though, so don't bother clicking around just yet.

Your next stop is going to be to Punch Club (like you did back when you found the Gladatior constellation). This means returning to the Colusseum, clicking on the open windows until you find the Grarrl, and then following him to the club. If you need more help, reffer to the previous steps concering the Gladiator. Once you're at the Punch Club again, click on the pie on the table (near the Skeith and the Techo):

You'll get some pie! And everyone likes pie! This isn't an item in your inventory either, so don't worry about misplacing it in your own Neopet's stomach.

If you'd like, you can return to your Vaelous, and you'll see that the option to feed the petpet has become available. There's still one more item you need to find for the Vaelous though, so don't bother clicking just yet!

To get the last item you'll need, head to The Restive Tomb . When you're there, click on the wooden plank that's holding the doors of the tomb shut. When you enter the tomb, you'll see this:

Most likely, nothing will be clickable here yet. Timing is KEY on this part, because you're going to need to refrsh this page at exactly :59 in order to continue. Remember the Neopets clock is set up as "hours : minutes : seconds". That means that you must refresh when the "seconds" number reads :59. If you've done it right, you'll see the following image (I've marked the bandage area that's going to be clickable- watch out now, it's a small area!). Sometimes it takes a few practice refreshes before you get it right. You will get it eventually though!

Click on it, and see the following (and no, these bandages won't be an item in your inventory, so don't worry about them):

Next, return to the injured petpet in Finneus' office. You'll now have a new option to "Bandage" the petpet. Now that you have everything you need, you can get started healing the poor little guy! There's a pattern to it though, so don't start randomly clicking yet!

You now should have four "active" options (meaning things you can do to the petpet, such as feed it), and one "non active" option (which is to check in on the petpet). In order to know which "active" option the petpet needs, simply look at how it's sitting. There are four possible ways the petpet can be sitting:

    • First Image (tounge hanging out): Feed
    • Second Image (paw to beak): Give Medicaion
    • Third Image (holding paw up): Bandage
    • Fourth Image (hiding face): Wait

IMPORTANT: based on the picture, click on the correct action ONCE. Then click on "Check on the Vaelous" at some point during that same minute. Wait until the new minute starts (which is at :00 or later), and repeat the process. If you mess up, go back to Finneus and try again. After 10 minutes of taking care of your petpet, see this image:

Scroll down a bit on the same page to see the following image (and click on the area I've marked for you):

When you do, you'll see the following glowing constellation:

Halfway done, halfway to go (and the next step is easy!)

Simply return to Finneus at this time, to let him know that you found the glowing constellation. He'll say this to you:

Go and find your constellation now!

It's not too hard to find, but make sure to note that the lower side of the "basket" (Stars 3 and 4) are at less of an angle then those near the top of the "basket" (Stars 5 and 6). Also, make sure to connect Star 3 with Star 6 (remember, the submit button will pop up even if you haven't connected all the lines yet- connect everything first before you hit Submit)! Once you find the constellation, you'll be rewarded with a new picture in the night sky:

Return to the Hall of Heros now, and click on the hidden link above the Gatherer's statue to see the now glowing gems:

Go ahead and click on the Janitor if you feel like it, to see this:

Return to Finneus in the Altadorian Archives next, and don't forget to read the new chapter in the Book of Ages:

Then, go ahead and visit the Astronomy Club again:

Odd, where did the president go? What could he be up to? Let's find out!

Ok, here we go with the next constellation. Make sure you have some time to hang out at the computer for a while- this one can take some time.
