The pale morning sky had begun to show signs of life. A restless draik had also begun to take life. He rose to his paws, and stretched his long, muscular body.

Why, hello there stranger. I can't exactly say I'm the social type, but I guess I could show you around." He turned his handsome face ahead, and began to trot through the meadow. He sped up as he reached the edge of the forest. "Ahh, this here is my favorite spot. Well besides the sky's I mean." He smiled and gracefully dodges the many trees as he wove through the forest. As he quickly reached an opening he bent down, and pushed off of his powerful haunches. He danced through the skies at blinding speeds. He was known as the wind itself…..

Now, I am going to tell you my story, so remember it…..

Forgotten past…..

Long, long ago, many years before you where even thought of; there was a draik clan. It consisted of hundreds of draik's. They confided together, and lived in peace. The clan was ruled by a large draik that had seen a lot through his years. He was getting to the point of death, and he now had to choose someone to succeed him. He had chosen his eldest son; but he wasn't anything like his wise father. When his father did die, he completely took the clan into his own paws. He had forced the clan to move off of the island which they had ruled for decades. Most where killed in the journey. During this time, a pale gray female draik had given birth to a young male. He grew into a strong, healthy draik. The name he bore was Hioshar……

I hear he is planning to kill us all!!" rasped an elder draik. He was wise beyond his years, and had to retire early do to failing sight. "We need someone to take him out now, before he grows any stronger!" rasped another of the elders. Hioshar was eaves dropping on the outside of the den. After hearing the elder's words, he leisurely walked up to them. "I will take him down! I shall lead the clan to great heights!" he puffed out his chest to look even more confident. The elders exchanged glances. "Hioshar, we admire your bravery, but you are still too young! But, you could do it with our help…." The old she-draik slowly rose to her full height. "I will help you Hio." She said to him, her blues eyes sparking with new found hope. "But…" she continued, "We must do it quickly, and with a lot of help. But in all Hio, you will guide us through this. You are young, strong, and brave, and you will lead us to great heights. Now go, Hio, gather as many warriors as you can." He nodded to the old she draik, and ran out of the den. He knew that most, maybe all of the warriors hated the clan's leader. He was a ruthless brute that would kill anything in his path to gain more power. That would be his demise….

He ran through the clan's territory to find as many followers as possible. He could see the elders talking to young draiks also. They nodded to them, and ran back to their den. By the end of the day, the elders den, and clearing was packed full of protesting warriors. They shouted ways to bring the leader down, and how to exile him. Hioshar picked is way around, and pushed his way to stand next to the old she-draik. She nodded to him, and stepped back. Hio raised his voice above the others. "Silence!" after they finally quieted down, he began to talk once more. "As most of you know, our cruel leader has taken many innocent lives during his years. He has killed the smallest of the hatchlings, our elders, and anyone who dared to contradict him. We must join together, and rise out of this dark time! All who wish to gain freedom will fight with me at sundown, on the night of the full moon." As he stepped down from the rock, the clan began to shout. "Hioshar, Hioshar!!" he leaded them to a clearing, and they began to plot their leader's demise.

Many nights had passed, and the full moon was now hanging in the sky. Draiks piled around Hioshar, waiting for his signal to attack. They could see there clan leader outside of his den, with two of his thick headed guards around him. He whispered back to the draik's; "he's large, so it won't be easy." He called forth the largest of the draiks, and they fell in behind him. The others waited anxiously behind him. "On my command, we attack..." at that said, he swayed back and forth. He waved his tail, and dashed ahead. The others followed suet. Hioshar let out a battle cry, and ran straight for the clan leader. He was shocked at the attack. The two guards had barricaded the way in front of him. Both of the guards where bigger than Hioshar. He whipped past them, and gave chase after his leader. He could here wails, and cries from behind them as bodies tangled together in battle. He ran as fast as he could behind the clan's leader. He watched him spring into the air, and he did the same. He soon caught up to his leader, and called out to him. "You killed half my clan! You shall fall on this day!" He bit down hard on the massive draiks tail. He heard him cry out in pain. He swiveled around, and snapped at Hio's neck. They writhed together in battle. Each had cuts, scratches and bite wounds. Hio had the advantage of speed against the big brute. He saw an opening to attack, when the leader lifted his head to bite. He quickly shot his head to meet the others neck. He squirmed to no avail against Hio's tight grip. He soon fell limp, and they both began to plummet to the ground, hundreds of feet below. He let his grip loosen on his dead leader's neck. He pulled away, so he wouldn't collide with the ground. As he softly landed on the ground, he walked up to the former leaders limp body, and let out another battle cry; but this one was to end it. The fighting stopped at once, and they turned to watch Hio. "I have killed our former leader". It is all over. We are free once again!" he shouted into the night sky. They cleared a way to the dead guard's body. A pale ginger she draik stepped up. "The other guard got away. They gave pursuit, but couldn't find him. He will not be a problem." Hio nodded to her, and began to pick his way through the surviving clan members. The old gray elder re-appeared in front of him. "Well done Hio. We have one this battle, but many did fall on this night." She looked away from him, her eyes swelled with pain. He didn't know what to say to comfort her. She stopped him, "you must be our new leader Hioshar!" He whipped a round to face her pale gray face. "What? I cannot take charge of this clan!" he shook the thoughts from his head, and plodded away. "I've had a calling…I must leave this land…I need to start a family of my own and maybe my own clan…" before he could hear her response, he quickly added in "pick a new leader. Make sure he is strong and brave." He left her alone…

A new Moon, And a new Life…

The wind was growing cold on this moonless night, as Hioshar landed on this unmarked territory. He lifted his slender muzzle to drink in the new scents. "Hnnnn, this is just like home" he mumbled. As he walked on this new land, he could smell all the grass, trees, and the many animals that scuttled around him. One in particular caught his eye. He saw a large wolf chasing a little black creature. He caught sight of the small beings wide, frightful eyes. He casually strode up to the wolf, and bared his teeth down on him. The animal's size was in no comparison of his own. He quickly backed away. He looked to the little creature that was now weaving between his two front paws. He bent his head low to it, and he heard a purr rumble in its throat. He nudged it away, but it insisted on following him. "Fine, if you must stay with me, you need a name." The little Seti stared into his eyes, waiting for his next words. "Hmmm... How about Haiku?" at the words, Haiku began to purr his answer. He smiled at its affection towards him. The next mourning, the sky was just peeking over the horizon, as Hio was beginning to stir. He stood up, and stretched. "Mourning Haiku….. Haiku??" He looked around the grassy clearing, but the Seti was nowhere to be seen. Hio started to panic. But just as he did, the little creature proudly trotted into the clearing. He had caught two rabbits. He dropped it at Hioshar's paws, and began to eat his own. Hioshar gulped his down gratefully. His eyes sparkled as the sun bore down on the pair……

His dream of his own clan was already coming true for him. He had his first friend in this strange land. All he needed now was a mate, and a well found leadership….

When I first came to this place, I had seen a wolf hunting in the clearings. He was chasing something less than half his size. The little creature came out to be a Seti, which has since became my apprentice. I had saved his life that day, and as a payment, he brings me gifts of rabbits, or other small animals. He is such a smart little fellow. He has learned his name, which is Haiku, and comes to me whenever I call to him. I am now training him to grow big, and strong. He is almost as fast as I am, and he will be painted when he can out run me......
