Stamps with a rarity of 100 or below are still sold in the Neopian Shops. The higher the rarity number (rXX - where XX is the number) the least often the stamp will restock.
Stamps r101-r179 are no longer restocked in the Neopian Shops. These stamps are obtained in special ways; Lenny Conundrum, Altador Cup, et cetera.
If a stamp is r180, it means that it is retired (it does not stock in the Neopian Shops) and there are no more ways of obtaining this particular stamp. Usually, these stamps are found on the Trading Post or in the Auctions for a small fortune.

IV. Any prices that are contained in (parentheses) were not recently found on the Trading Post. The prices between the parentheses was taken from the previous version of this guide - from 2006 - and have most likely inflated quite a bit. For example; the Nibbled Cooking Pot Stamp was priced at 50,000,000 on December 28th, 2009. The last tracked price (from the previous version of this guide, dated 2006) was 2,500,000. That's a 20% increase.

The Haunted Woods stamp collection was introduced into Neopia on September 11th, 2002. Aside from the Scary Tree Stamp, which was yet another exclusive stamp released through a site competition, most of the cost of this collection is due to the large number of rarity 99 stamps. The avatar for this collection is widely sought after, and has caused the high rarity stamps to inflate even further.
The Scary Tree Stamp was released exclusively through Mystery Pic round 151 on September 19th, 2002, and was awarded to a large number of winners.

There are several reasons why this is considered the most popular and sought after stamp collection. The first reason is that the avatar is very appealing, since it displays a beloved Neopets character. The second and third reasons are that this collection contains only one special rarity stamp and are rarity 99, which makes it considerably easier to complete than other collections. The fourth reason, as one might guess, is that it is the least expensive stamp collection.
That said, the Holographic Coltzan's Shrine Stamp is extremely sought after. Users who are clamoring to get it so that they may complete their collection and get the avatar, have greatly inflated its price. If your sights are set on completing this set, stay on the alert for the Holographic Coltzan's Shrine Stamp before other collectors grab it!
The Coltzan Stamp, the only rarity 101 stamp in this collection, was released exclusively through a Lenny Conundrum competition that was announced on January 29th, 2003.

The Mystery Island stamps were the first stamps to be released, with the very first issue being the Mystery Island Kougra Stamp on September 5th, 2002, which was shortly after the discovery of Meridell. This collection contains several rare stamps that were given out exclusively through sponsor offers, as well as the Better Than You competition. The cost of this collection may seem daunting. Remember those selling may be willing to negotiate a lower price.
The Mystery Island Grarrl Stamp was only given out to winners of Better Than You who defeated Spectre's score in Igloo Garage Sale on September 6th, 2002.
The Nibbled Cooking Pot Stamp was featured as a prize for Lenny Conundrum on March 11th, 2003. It was not an exclusive prize, though, and still restocks.
The Mystery Island Acara Stamp was retired, along with 50 other randomly selected items (including the Ummagine Stamp), on October 28th, 2003.

The Snowy Valley collection is a relatively new avatar collection. Currently, the only stamp that does not restock is the Candychan Stamp.
The Sticky Snowflake Stamp, Snowbunny Stamp and Candychan Stamp are going to cost you a bundle. These stamps were last spotted at 20 million NP and are likely to keep inflating due to the rarity level.
The Candychan Stamp was randomly retired on October 28th, 2003 along with 49 other items.

This set would easily be the cheapest to collect, if not for the extremely rare Wock Til You Drop Stamp. Released exclusively through the Lenny Conundrum on September 17th, 2002, almost none of this stamp remains in circulation, since that pzzle was solved by very few people. The Kyruggi Stamp was exclusively released in the previous week's Lenny Conundrum but because many users won it, there is a large discrepancy between these two stamps. Aside from those two, however, the rest of the collection is quite inexpensive, because it contains very few rarity 99 stamps. Nine stamps from this album have "special" rarities, because they were released through a sponser offer called "The Great Stamp Giveaway" (pictured below). Although seven of the stamps were fairly common, there were two (The Discovery of Fire Stamp and Monocerous Stamp) which have a rarity of 110 and were released more sparingly.

This collection is fairly straight forward, and contains only one stamp that is no longer available through the Neopian Post Office Kiosk. Aside from the Commander Garoo Stamp, the virtupets Collection is one of the easier avatar stamp collections to obtain. The final stamps for this album were released on October 23rd, 2003.
The Commander Garoo Stamp was released exclusively through a Lenny Conundrum competition that began on November 13th, 2002. The price of this stamp was last spotted by me at 11,000,000. However, the last time I priced this stamp was about 3 years ago. It's highly likely that the price of this stamp has since inflated by quite a bit.

This avatar is one of Neopia's "most wanted", but due to the extremely high cost of its collection, very few people have acquired it.
Stamp Collector - Lost Desert*
This is the most popular of all the stamp collector avatars, since it is also the most affordable. It is also the most common, although still extremely rare, as all stamp avatars are.
Stamp Collector - Mystery Island*
This avatar is extremely rare, due to the high cost of the many rarity 99 and 101 stamps required to complete its stamp page. It is very seldom seen.

On February 23, 2008 four new stamps were announced but not released. On January 6, 2010 these four stamps were finally released along with 16 others and a new collection! The prices on these stamps are still inflated but are going down, some more quickly than others. Until they've leveled out it might be wise to just try to restock these yourself.

As soon as I know where stamps go, I will add them to this album. I am waiting to price this collection until the prices settle down. So watch this space with high anticipation! What to say about this collection? Well, it's incomplete but the last stamp (pictured to the left) has been announced since March 4, 2008. The other thing I have noticed about this collection is how "OCD" the staff at Neopets was when they planned this album. Every stamp rarity is in sequential order from 75 all the way to 98. I wouldn't be surprised if the last stamp in this collection is r99. Behold! The power of deduction.

This is another collection that is relatively inexpensive with exception to the Smiling Space Faerie and Scowling Sloth Coin. Which, if you happened to notice, can be restocked at the Collectable Coin Shop.
This layout took me about 2 days to design and code. I designed and sliced it using Photoshop and coded it in Dreamweaver using mostly the code view. The data for this site (minus the pricing) came mostly from v3 of HRH's Guide to Stamp Collecting. The exceptions are the stamp albums that have been released since the last time I worked on this collection in 2006. The pricing was done over December 31st and January 1st. All in all, it took about a week and a half from the time I decided to redo this guide to the time I uploaded it.
So what have I been doing since 2006? Well that's interesting you should ask. Since that time I have been working in the Printing industry. This year (May 2010) I will be completing my degree in Graphic Design (yes, I'm currently a student too). I have also started my own design company to supplement the income from my day job. In addition to all of this, I have also, very recently, become a mommy. And, in late July, I will be a second time mommy. So, you can imagine how busy I must be! Even with all the work I have, I still somehow manage to find time to play Neopets. So, even though it appears that I go on hiatus, I am never far from Neopets. My inner child demands the play time. =P
