One day, in April of 2004, I was reading my e-mails. There was one that caught my eye, the subject read "Help feed an animal in need!", Being an animal lover I read the email and found there was a site where I could click a button and feed hungry animals! I quickly visited the site and clicked the button. It took me to a page which told me that I had provided .6 bowls by clicking. Well, don't get me wrong, I was happy that I helped, but I couldn't help but think ".6 bowls?? That's not that much!" I wanted to do more.

So I told a few friends who were online at the time about the site, about 3. So now the total was up to 2.4 bowls of food....2 little puppies or kittens would be fed today, I, of course, was still not satisfied. So I explored the website and found that if I signed up with the reminder I could get an extra bowl for the pets, so I did that....3.4 bowls, and you can bet I was still not happy with the total.

I spent a lot of time thinking about how I could spread the word. Then it hit me, I should make a website! So I talked to some family members and friends about it and they completely supported my idea. And so began the creation of "Help a Pet" . Things were very slow the first few months after its creation. We we're lucky if we got 5 page views in a week! Thankfully, I had some great friends who helped me advertise and we managed to get quite a few supporters.

And now, more than three years later, Help a Pet has made a huge difference. With your help, THOUSANDS of hungry animals have been fed. We have also inspired many others to create help sites for different causes. And to think, it all started with one simple e-mail....
