Wheel Results

In Feb. 2009 I decided to collect data on the various wheels that you can spin around neopets. I was looking to see how often certain spots got landed on, and what the chances were of getting the "good stuff". Throughout February I recorded my results and also asked others to send me there results as well, the idea being that the more data I had, the more accurate the results would be. Here are the results I found:

Wheel of Excitement

Prize Frequency
500 Np14%
Light Fairy2.5%
1000 NP3.1%
Lightning2.5%
Skull2.5%

20001.9%
Secret Item 0.6%
Lava Ghoul7.6%
200 Np14.6%
10000 NP0.6%
Magic1.9%
Dark Fairy 3.1%
Heal7.6%
100 Np 1.9%
Pant Devil 3.1%
*Percents do not equal 100 due to rounding. Results were calculated from 157 spins.

The main thing I was looking for was how often I would land on a spot that would result in negative neopoints. Since it costs 150 NP to spin, I decided those spots were Light Fairy, Lightning, Skull, ?, Secret Item, Lava Ghoul, Dark Fairy, Heal, 100np and Pant Devil. Even though some of those spots are "good" spots, they don't have a chance of increasing my neopoints. Based on that, my end result was:

Chance of Losing Neopoints: 63.1%

For more information on the Wheel of Excitment, including what you could "win" on each spot, I suggest going to http://www.jellyneo.net/?go=woe (sorry, can't hyperlink to pages not on neopets, and I couldn't find a guide on a neopets site)

*Percents do not equal 100 due to rounding. Results were calculated from 151 spins. Because people did not specify if they landed on the "happy" king or the "sad" king, all king results were lumped into one. 0% means that no one reported landing on the spot.

Again, looking at spaces that would result in a negative neopoints, and knowing it costs 500 Np to spin, I decided the spots were ?, Star, Lightbulb, King, Free Spin, Fruit (I never saw any food items that could be sold for 500 Np or more), Water Fairy and Shield (again, never saw a shield that could be sold for at least 500 np).Based on that my end result was:

Chance of losing Neopoints: 78.9%! By far, the highest of any wheel.

*Percents do not equal 100 due to rounding. Results were calculated from 89 spins. Because people did not specify if they landed on the red codestone or the bri codestone, all codestone results were lumped into one. 0% means that no one reported landing on the spot. I have to admit these aren't the most accurate results. Most people said what they won, but not what space they landed on. If someone listed a non-food or non-weapon item and not the space, I put it under the Poster, but many of them could have come from the $ as well. Those are the only results that may be inaccurate.

Using the same system as before and knowing it costs 100 neopoints, the negative neopoint spaces are Rock, Volcano, Ticket, ? and dactyl. So...

Chances of losing Neopoints: 64%

Costing 50 Np per spin, the negative Neopoint spots are Dactyl, Oblisk, Fireball. Grarrl, 10 Np, Aisha, tar and 20 np. So...

Chances of losing Neopoints: 42.6% (the best of all the wheels)

This one is a little different. For the most part, all the spaces will result in a loss. However, it is slightly possible that the gift or + neopoint space will give you something worth 100 Np (the cost to spin), so assuming that those spots behave...

Chance of losing Neopoints: 45.1% (Although truely it's a lot closer to 100%)

So, there you have my results and my observations. You may not be as interested in gaining neopoints as I am and may think that getting your pet healed is worth the neopoints spent, so my "chance of losing Np" results may not be important to you. That's why there are the percentages of the individual spots. You can decide for yourself the chance of getting something good.

You may be waiting for Wheel of slime results but you won't get them here. Since you always win on that wheel, I didn't track results. However I do strongly suggest spinning it since the chance of losing neopoints is 0%!

Since this guide is new (put up on Feb 28, 2009), I welcome any suggestions or corrections you may have. My neopets name is Cinderflea, so feel free to send me a neomail. Also, my familiarity, and therefore ability to use, HTML is very limited. I realize this page is very boring to look at. I'm sorry. Anyone who would like to create a new HTML code for me for this page is more than welcome to do so! I promise to give you credit ^_^
