The dark room is warm and filled with the crackling sounds of the burning fire that thrives in the humble looking brick fireplace. Before it, rests a worn red velvet divan, upon which sits an aisha. Her petite, absurdly small body is hunched so that her hair and antennae fall into her face, obscuring her appearance; but despite her dejected appearance she exudes an aura of intimidation, even from afar. Her lithe, sinewy body and the pair of massive, glistening wings that shimmer with each flicker of the fire tell her tale: she is no ordinary aisha, but rather, a faerie.
Or perhaps, it is better to say...a former faerie knight. For in the shadowed corner beside the fireplace lie the remnants of her faerie-made armor, still as lovely as ever with its intricately carved designs but its beauty worn away by battle and time. A glaive is propped up against the wall; it, too, has lost in the battle against time and its once iridescent blade is covered in murk and grime.
Hallyen, for that is the name of this former warrior, does not spare a glance at the decrepit remains of her past. Her curved eyes are expressionless, and only gaze blankly at the floor. Occasionally her wings will give a little flit, followed by a nearly undetectable flinch of pain that passes across her face. For when one looks closely, it is evident that her wings have been damaged--the magnificent structures have been torn away at the edges, ripped apart by some vicious, unknown force.
Hallyen does not spare a blink when the darkness of the room is suddenly penetrated by a door opening behind her, spilling golden light onto the back of the red divan. From the succulent smells that waft from this adjoining room, it's evident that the little Bori that has come scampering out has just come from the kitchen. The Bori, a nimble little creature that is just on the cusp of adulthood, bounds up to Hallyen's side and offers a beaming smile. Hallyen's nose fills with the scent of salty seawater mixed with the aroma of freshly baked bread.
Yen, Tu and I have finished making dinner," chirps the Bori. Hallyen inwardly bristles at the sound of her new nickname, but says nothing. She only turns her head slightly so that her thin eyes meet the round and curious ones of the Bori. What was her name again? she wonders to herself, and it suddenly comes back to her. Ah. It's Leantia.
