Intro

A white form sprints through an ocean of tall green grass,which ripples lightly as a gentle breeze sweeps over it.After a few more carefree bounds,the shape stopps,flicking its dark ears in a peculiar way,as his leaf green gaze scans the dense forest that clings to the mooreland's edge.The creature is that of a Lupe,with a pure white pelt,if you don't count the strange green splatter markings on his back,as if someone had taken a paint brush and flicked paint on his coat.His forehead was adorned with an odd leaf mark,and one circular mark near each of his leaf-green eyes.The ninja band that hangs around his neck catches the early morning sunlight with its metallic surface,shimmering lightly.He seems not to take notice of you,as he turns his attention to a small leaf in his path.Placing his paw on the leaf,it expands,growing larger and larger,as if it were an inflating baloon.His paw,now glowing,withdraws,leaving the once small leaf the size of an eagle's wing.Grasping the glowing,enlarged leaf in his jaws,the Lupe mumbles something you can't quite desipher,and suddenly-

Takes flight!

Yes,right up into the air,his back paws dangling,and brushing along the rippling tall grass,he takes flight.Tiny,glittering orbs float and dance around his broad,glowing leaf,as he grins,gliding a bit higher.Sweeping across the mooreland,near where you are sitting,watching from the forest.He chants a few brief words,through his grip on the glowing leaf,and suddenly glides downward,instead of up.He lets out a sigh of satisfaction as he makes an ungraceful landing on a tree limb above your head,sending a few loose leaves fluttering earthward.The Lupe shakes his head,and glances down at you,flashing a wolfish grin.

."Don't think I didn't see ya down there,stranger."

He remarks,his green eyes still looking down at where you sit on a fallen log bellow his perch. You gawk up at the strange creature,intrigued. "Catching flies,are we?" he adds, sticking out his toungue as you snap your mouth shut,glaring in response. The strange Lupe settles comfortably into his tree limb perch,yawning. "Who exactly are you,smarty?" You inquire,still giving him an offended look. He suddenly turns his head down to gaze at you,smiling. "Well,I suppose I could tell you my story,stranger..But first,may I have your name?" he asks,still looking down at you. You tilt your head.Stranger he was,but he appeared friendly enough,and you were interested in learning about him.After all,where were you headed to in a big hurry? "I go by guest,may I have your name,sir?" you reply politely. The Lupe smiles,visbly pleased. "I'm Hakokoro,Gaurdian of The Rai Forest." he replies,bowing slightly,before sitting contentedly on the soft green moss of his tree limb. "Now,it all began...."--

Hakokoro's Story

Wait up, Ograku!!
Piped up a young voice, which echoed into the cave it was shouted into, reverberating off the grayscale walls. The slim, furry form of a Lupe pup bounded into a wide fissure on the side of a rock wall. The wall clung to the side of a towering mountain, which looked down on a massive, sprawling forest, whose variety of trees were overflowing with the lush vibrance of early summer. "I don't wait for slowpokes." replied a another voice, young, yet of deeper pitch than the white -furred pup's. The pup with the white pelt stopped at the cave's mouth, his little face twisted in a smirk. "Oh, really, Saruko? Was I the one left behind on the hunting trip a moon ago?" he replied, snickering. "I believe that was you, oh swift-footed one." After a short echo of tiny paw steps, a kougra cub with deep black fur appeared from around a corner in the cave, narrowing his blue eyes at the lupe pup indignantly. "Oh, do be quiet, Hakokoro. Just follow along, or we'll never find the place I want to show you before sunhigh." the cub added evasively, turning to trot on through the dimly lit cave. "Mind you, Tamar-sensei will have a fit." he added, rolling his little blue eyes briefly as he continued on into the cave. The Lupe pup bounded after him, chuckling at his friend's remark. Though the cave was rather poorly lit, one could just decipher the strange bright green markings which dappled along the pup's pelt, giving the impression of sunlight dancing on a smooth white stone.. His green-pointed tail wagged eagerly as he bounded after the black-pelted cub. After a few moments, which seemed to stretch like hours to the curious pup, they arrived to their destination. Saruko, the small black cub, dipped his head, sitting down as his friend leapt into the spacious cavern. The massive room was alive with an ocean of glittering magic. The glistening was shed forth from a million crystals, which clung to very available space in the cave; on the damp grayscale walls, crawling all the way up to the lofty ceiling, which intermittently dripped with moisture. The whole place just held an eerie, mystical feeling, maybe it wasn't only the crystals that caused it… "I-it's amazing!" Hakokoro marveled, practically shouting the comment, which echoed noisily off the sodden cave walls. Saruko flicked his little black ears, smiling. "Told ya." he replied, yawning casually. Even though he'd seen it before, he was still awestruck by the wondrous crystals, though he naturally wasn't the type to let it show. After a few long moments of gazing at the dazzling gems, the black cub rose from his sitting perch on a moist, crystal-studded rock. "We'd better get back to camp, Hakokoro." he announced, yawning lazily, and turning to leave. Reluctantly, Hakokoro followed after his friend, accidentally stumbling over a stone as he attempted to stare back at the amazing crystals as he exited cave.

..::…Later that Evening..::..

Hakokoro eagerly pounced upon his meal, chattering as he enjoyed a fresh yullie. "But you know it will be a while till we can go back to see the cave again, Hakokoro." Saruko reminded his friend, slowly eating his own meal. Hakokoro nodded, yet wasn't really agreeing with the statement, for he already had plans to slip out of camp during the night to see it again. A tall, adult Lupe joined the pups, smiling as she ruffled the ivory fur on Hakokoro's head. "So, where have you been today, my mischievous son?" she inquired, as sunlight danced on her light blue-gray fur. Saruko raised his head. "Hello, Yuki." he greeted his friend's mother politely. Hakokoro laughed, smiling at his mother. "Somewhere awesome!" he replied eagerly, chattering on about where he'd been that day. Yuki flicked back her ears at her son. That cave was sacred, and her pup was not to meddle with it. She quietly lead her son into their won hut. Hakokro sat down, tilting his little head curiously. "Why can't I go to the cave, mom?" Hakokoro whined, narrowing his little green eyes indignantly. Yuki sat down, sighing. "It is a sacred place, where hokage Makor often visits. It's where the Forest Spirits often appear, to warn of a danger,or..sometimes, to choose a new Forest Guardian. Hakokoro made a perplexed face, still confused, yet, at the same time, rather intrigued by these mysterious 'forest Spirits'. Yuki straightened up. "So, Hakokoro, promise me you won't go in there again." she spoke firmly, leaving no way to negotiate out of it. Hakokoro sullenly nodded, though he wasn't sure he could stifle his rising curiosity much longer….

In fact, he couldn't even stifle it for the night..

Shafts of moonlight danced on the roofs of every hut in the slumbering village. Not a living thing stirred, even the guard ninja, perched in a nearby tree, had unfaithfully dozed off by now. It would seem as though every member of the KaraKaze village was sound asleep…but looks can be deceiving… A small, white form crept quietly from the entrance of one of the quiet huts. His tiny paws, stepped cautiously, yet speedily along the path, which lead to the forest. Hakokro closed his eyes, took a deep breath, then sprinted foreword, clearing the rest of the path, being swallowed from sight by the forest bracken.

A short while later…

After a short while, Hakokoro stopped walking along the moonlit forest path, and raised his head, for he had arrived at his destination. 'I'll only stay a short while, I'll be back before anyone notices.' He thought to himself, smiling as he bounded into the cave's mouth. Something seemed to pull Hakokoro along, tugging at his tiny paws, as if something was awaiting him. An shadowy feeling prickled inside Hakokoro as he stepped into the mysterious, crystal adorned room in the cave, which seemed to be illuminating itself, for there was no light available to aid it. He sat down on the same smooth rock as earlier that morning, and gazed in young marvel at the captivating crystals. A cool breeze seemed to wash over the cavern, as Hakokoro flicked back his little raven colored ears, staring about nervously, while the chilly breeze delivered an unnerving, almost anticipated feeling. As Hakokoro rose to his paws, suddenly getting the urge to leave, he heard a long, harsh, rushing sound, as a cold winter wind as it rushes over the crest of a snow-powdered hill. Whirling around to face the strange noise, he saw the most peculiar site. A whole cloud of green, glowing orbs about the size of large hail floated and danced, seeming to have appeared from nowhere. Hakokoro stepped back, little jaws wide open as he stared in bewilderment. A blurry form appeared, that of a tall Lupe, standing upright. Two light forest green eyes glowed out from the stranger, yet they held a kind glint, no malice hid there. "Greetings, young Hakokro KaraKaze, I am Takashi, the Forest Sage, or, The Forest Spirit number four." a kind voice spoke, as the blurry gray Lupe bowed his head lightly." Hakokro's leaf green eyes gazed in marvel and wonder at this 'Sage', as he gathered himself to reply. "H-How do you know my name?" he faltered, flicking back his small, soft black ears. The Sage smiled knowingly. "I know plenty more than that, Hakokoro." the Sage replied, growing a bit more serious. "I also know that you, Hakokoro, are to be the next Forest Guardian." The Sage added, smiling. Hakokoro gaped at the Sage, filled with curiosity. He'd heard of The Forest Guardian, his sensei had taught him about it once. It was someone chosen, or destined to become the next protector of the sacred Rai Forest, their homeland with their unearthly powers. Currently, there was nobody as the Forest Guardian, as the last one had died a few years back. " Me-me? How--why? What do I need to…do?" the words tumbled from Hakokoro's mouth as he sought answers. Sage Takashi smiled. "That information will come, young one. When you come of age, one of the Sages will come to you, and give you the Guardian's mark, and grant you your earth bending powers. Until then, I believe you must return to your village, where you are needed." Before Hakokoro could ask more prompting questions, the Sage held out his paw, which now glowed, and placed it on Hakokoro's little forehead. A rush of wind and leaves flew by, as the crystal-studded cave snapped from view. "Remember, we will come to you when the time is right-don't forget, and don't mention this to anyone yet…." the voice whispered, as the world came back into view. Hakokoro found himself back inside his own hut, as he'd been teleported. Hakokoro stared into space, dazed, as he toppled over onto the cave floor, falling into a deep, troubled sleep.

A few years had passed, and, as promised, Hakokoro had not told anybody what had happened that fateful night….

A big, slender Lupe darted across the rippling Mooreland of lush, tall grass, his brilliant white and green coat dappled with the light of the spring noonday sun. His long, almost lanky legs ate up the ground at a rapid pace as he barked in playful bliss. This was Hakokro, nearly an adult now, on his very first day as a full-fledged ninja of the KaraKaze village. His young face was bright with pride as he raced the wind as it swept over the green grass, sporting his brand new ninja band, which hung around his neck, shimmering luminously.Hakokoro smiled proudly as he bounded along, swiveling his ears to catch a sound. A sudden, yet strangely familiar harsh whisper echoed from the bracken. Hakokoro's raven black ears flicked back, flattening against his head as he came to a jarring halt, staring intently in the direction of the voice. .With a cautious step, he padded towards the bright green forest shrubs that the voice seemed to be coming from. Feeling the need to investigate further, he crept silently into the forest, glancing about curiously. "Who's there?" he barked, perking his ears as he waited for a reply. Only the sound of birds, and the intermittent drip of raindrops from the previous night's rain broke the silence. "Speak up, whoever's there!" he ordered, straightening up assertively. As if in response a bird sat down on a branch overhead, and screeched loudly for all to hear. Hakokoro smirked at the creature. "As if I was addressing YOU!" he replied to it, chuckling as he turned to leave. However, before he could set off again, amass of floating, bobbing green orbs danced up from the ground; after a rush of wind and leaves, an oddly familiar Lupe with a shadowy gray pelt appeared from the cloud of glowing twigs and leaves. Yelping in surprise, Hakokoro stepped back, jaws wide open as he gawked at the strange figure. After collecting himself, he narrowed his leaf green eyes, inspecting the Lupe, as a feeling of recognition gripped him. Suddenly, his face brightened. "You are that Sage-the one I'd seen as a pup-you told me--" "--That you are to be the next Forest Guardian." the Sage finished Hakokokro's sentence for him, smiling. Hakokoro abruptly looked down, pretending to be intensely focused on a leaf as he drug his paw over it, thinking. Since that one night, so long ago, he'd become more established in his life as a KaraKaze ninja. Since then, he'd learned more about what it means to be a Forest Guardian-they must heal the sick or wounded, responsible to devoting their lives to defending the Rai Forest, and maintaining it's health. Forest Guardian's were expected to spend whole weeks at a time focusing and meditating in the forest once every few moons.. It seemed like a very consuming job ,a almost an excluding job. Hakokoro was no longer a starry-eyed pup- he now saw every string attached to be adorned with this title: 'Forest Guardian'. While Hakokoro had been pondering, he'd mangled the leaf to shreds by dragging his paw over it absent-mindedly. Shaking a few leaf scraps from his paw, he looked up at the Sage, shaking his head uncertainly. "Sage, I don't think.." he faltered, then finished boldly. "No, I know- I know that I don't want to be a Forest Guardian. I have a wonderful life living among my friends and family,--I enjoy my current life!" Hakokoro finished, huffing a sigh as he narrowed his eyes at the gray-pelted Lupe before him. Sage Takashi shook his head, astounded to hear such talk-from the Chosen one, at that. "I'm sorry, young Hakokoro, but this is the way it must be-you were chosen by the sages at birth to fulfill the Guardian's place. This is the way it must be. " he repeated firmly. His eyes glowed in a peculiar way, as he placed his paw on the young Lupe's forehead, chanting a few lines quietly. Hakokoro opened his jaws to protest, but was suddenly filled with an awkward sensation. His forehead gleamed and shot forth a few glowing lights, which danced along the ground around him, followed by a harsh, screeching noise and rush of wind. Hakokro wanted to cry out, but suddenly felt dizzy and overwhelmed. The rushing wind and agonizing noise ended abruptly, as Hakokoro sank to the ground, panting. He stared down at the ground, stunned, as something caught his eye. His reflection in a puddle, revealed a strange, broad leaf-shaped marking on his forehead., which was never there before. "What did you do to me?" Hakokro shouted, snarling as he attempted to rise to his feet, but suddenly felt too weak to stand. The forest spun as the ground lurched beneath his paws, sending him falling backwards into nothingness. The Sage solemnly teleported the new Guardian back to his village, and sighed, sitting down. If this new Chosen one wouldn't live up to his rightful place, what would become of the Rai Forest? No one had ever defied this honored place in all of Rai Forest's history. Until now..

A few anxious, and curious whispers greeted Hakokro as he opened his eyes, waiting for his blurry sight to sharpen.

He found himself lying on the floor of the Hokage's hut. The honored leader, Hokage Makor stood over him, looking down at him, with an almost eager -disallowed_word-:
