Oh my goodness, hello there! *waves* My, my; you do look well today, guest! And it's so lovely to see you! *grins cheerily* Welcome to my webpage! I always wanted one of these, but it was only recently that I happened across a topic. And, of course, that topic is the new craze-to-be; poking. Alas, Battyfly has worried quite a few people over the last few months, and all due to her habit of 'poking'. Now it is time to set the records straight once and for all and educated Neopia in the art of Online Poking! | General | Likes | Dislikes | Wishlist | Family | Did You Know...? | My name's Gwylliaine, which is pronounced g - will - ee - ain. The 'g' is pronounced like the 'g' in 'goat'. However, you, guest, can call me Gwyll. *grins again* I'm a chocoholic Kau, and I live with my guardian, Battyfly, my sisters, Spidita and Teiloua, and my brother, Talithios. Oh, and my Babaa, Haeresias, of course! *hugs Haeresias tightly* I also have a Red Korbat Plushie named Faeala, and she goes 'meep' when you squeeze her tummy! *shows you* Me and my cousin, Meokuri, used to play together, but her Blue Fuzzle, Oeiko, got broken... *sighs* She does have an Usuki, but I find them sort of freaky.

Please Bear in Mind... (That means don't poke people in real life.) You must also bear in mind that not everyone on the internet will have learnt about poking, and because of this it may be necessary to inform them. You may simply direct them here, if you wish, or explain to them exactly what Online Poking is all about - I'm sure they'll quickly stop accusing you of being rude and join the fun! (And that means teach those who don't know.) Please do feel free to use the Online Poke! It's not © to anyone, and it certainly isn't limited to a singular group of people! The Online Poke is merely like an Online Hug... only more casual. After all, what is the point of me dedicating my webpage to it if you're not going to give it a try? (And that means you shouldn't feel afraid of poking people online_ )
The Place and the Time A poke can be happy or sad; angry or comical; annoyed or playful. Although it's a good idea to know what kind of poke you are giving before you poke, you're not a dreadful person if you don't. Sometimes a random poke is just what someone needs to know you care.
Online Poke There are many other kinds of poke, although definition one is the most popular. You can poke someone upon almost any occasion, e.g in congratulations combine the *pokes {name}* with an exclamation of congratulations!
Example:
How to Tell a Poke's Meaning
1.) Is the poke aimed at you? Sarcasm is hard to detect online_ so I'd discourage you from searching for any trace of sarcasm in pokes, as you may find what wasn't intended to be there. If, after looking at the essential three things, you are still nonplussed to why you have been poked, it is likely it was a random poke. If you disagree, and think your poke had a specific reason, inquire; those who ask shall receive (depending on what you ask, of course).
Random Poke
The Laws of Poking
1.) You MUST specify who you are poking. 2.) You must NEVER poke famous people without first explaining what a poke is!! (Unless you like angry celebrities). 3.) Your pokes must follow the Neopets Guide Lines. 4.) Pokes should never intentionally stretch a page, harm another human being, be used upon Lord Voldemort and Dr. Sloth or upon children under the age of five. 5.) POKING IS NOT A POWER! When battling, you may find it advisable not to poke your opponent, as you might end up incapacitated.
6.) NEVER poke your Valentine!! I don't know why, it just sounds threatening. 7.) Don't disobey this law. 8.) Poking may not be used for any kind of profit other than that warm fuzzy feeling it leaves in your heart when you've been nice. 9.) Poking should not be used for advertising your guild - you don't hug people to get them to join your local Book Club, do you?
You may by now be wondering why there's a stick at the end of each lesson. There is a simple reason as to this behaviour. I'll explain. Poking with a stick is something else that occurs on a regular basis, although Feather's sticks have recently been painted plushie so that they won't harm a soul. The famous Online Poking Stick is mostly used to poke people's chairs, or inanimate objects (and it's also incredibly handy for toasting marshmallows). The Online Poking Stick is not intended for use upon anything but inanimate objects, as sticks can hurt. I therefore would suggest either refraining from using your stick on anything but chairs, the Lab Ray, ect, unless first painting it plushie. And by saying 'paint it plushie', I don't mean go and buy yourself a Plushie Paint Brush - it's more a mental state than a purchase, and as long as you know it's been 'painted' that's alright.
