A calm breeze winds its way through the trees around you. You quietly note that these trees are far-spaced from one another, signifying a more-southern forest. On either side are high, arching spires of rock, each shaped by the wind and time. You know you're somewhere between the Lost Desert and Meridell, probably nearer to the Lost Desert, as the air has been steadily increasing in warmth and dryness as you walk. You step into a clearing that's seems to have been padded down with sand. The air here is warm, as if you now stand in a tiny portion of the infamous desert itself. You're so absorbed by the place that you don't notice
the birdsong in the trees cease. You don't even notice the angry hawk-like
call above you. You snap back to reality when the air around you shifts
and a large eyrie lands in front of you. His hackles are raised, and all
of his fur-like feathers stand on end. On every paw silvery claws are
extended. He narrows deep blue eyes, trying to decide on something. His speech is formal and stiff. You can tell his voice is normally only used for a bird's regular squawking and crowing. You quickly explain that you are lost and looking for the Lost Desert. At this, his feathers flatten, and he hides his talons. ''Follow me, I shall lead you home.
